Kalbi short rib - I'm always so skeptical but most places that make kalbi make it super chewy and not flavorful - this place was flavorful + tender. I was honestly enjoying my meal, it wasn't too bad overall, aside from the egg being a little overcooked. But here's the issue: if you know one of your sauces or dishes contains a common food allergen, that needs to be clearly mentioned on the menu or brought up before customers order. Even a simple "Does anyone have any food allergies?" would help. My boyfriend has a severe peanut allergy. That includes peanut oil, peanut butter, and anything containing peanuts, even if it's cooked into the food. Apparently peanuts are the "secret ingredient" in the gravy... which is honestly wild because who puts peanuts in gravy? I cook myself and have made gravy plenty of times, and never once have I seen peanuts listed in a gravy recipe. That's a serious health hazard if it's not clearly disclosed somewhere. If your dishes contain common allergens like peanuts, almonds, walnuts, etc., customers should be warned upfront instead of finding out after they've already eaten it.What made the situation worse was the employee's attitude when we called about it. After learning the gravy contained peanuts, we asked for a refund, and the employee immediately became irritated and rude. Instead of showing concern, he responded with, "Well, you didn't say anyone had an allergy." Yes, we could have mentioned the allergy beforehand, but again nobody reasonably expects gravy to contain peanuts. Regardless, if any dish contains a major allergen, that information should absolutely be listed on the menu. It's basic customer safety and basic customer service. Attached to my review is a photo of the menu brochure, and nowhere does it mention that the dish contains peanuts. Peanut allergies are extremely common and can be life threatening, so this is not something that should be overlooked or casually ignored. Customers deserve clear allergen warnings so situations like this can be avoided entirely. read more

Last night I ordered it again and discovered it had fish in it, which was a surprise because the menu doesn't mention tuna in the macaroni salad. Great food, great prices, and great service. This place is a must go to for quality and consistency. I love the barbecue chicken and the barbecue beef. The teriyaki sauce they use is unbelievably fantastic but the best thing about this place is the macaroni salad! Combine them with rice and a little extra sauce and you've got a winner. Each meal that you get confided at least one super super hungry person if not to medium sized hungry people. They give you a ton of food is what I'm saying. If you are buying for three or four people, you can downsize by one meal and still have plenty of food left over. They work well with you if you want more of the Mac salad instead of rice or vice versa or whatever you wanna do they'll help you out and are most generous in doing so. We asked for 2 scoops of Mac salad and one scoop of white rice instead of the opposite. Hawaiian BBQ short rib - 4/5 The BBQ short rib was tasty. It wasn't real fatty and not overly sweet. It was cooked well and the meat was tender. The BBQ ribs could've been marinated a little longer for a more robust taste like at Rainbow Drive inn or other plate lunch eateries in Hawaii. But very good overall. You get only one rib like the other Hawaiian BBQ eateries here on the mainland. Hawaiian BBQ beef - 4/5 The BBQ beef was marinated well. The BBQ beef was tasty and you can taste the ginger in the marinated. The marinade was slightly sweet, not salty. It was very good, but the amount given could have been slightly more. Hawaiian BBQ chicken 4/5 The Hawaiian BBQ chicken was tasty and tender. It was cooked perfectly, not over cooked or dry. Again, the chicken could've been marinaded slightly longer for the robust flavor. All the meats laid on a bed of veggies (cabbage and broccoli). A very nice addition to the plate lunch. Overall, Yummy Hawaiian BBQ is a great addition to the Brentwood/Antioch community. I recommend giving Yummy Hawaiian BBQ a try. It's equivalent to dinner of the Hawaiian BBQ in Hawaii. We have come to this place a few times but never again after tonight. First they told us the chef hates making cheeseburgers ... so why are they on the menu?! The 2 cheeseburgers ordered looked terrible so had them remake them. Then got home and the fish and chips we ordered, the fish was RAW!! I could not eat it, talk about food poisoning! We even left them a tip :/ a message was left and I hope they do the right thing and refund our money. I tried this place for the first time. I was very hungry and everything smelled very good. It's a take out place (no seating area). I had the Kalbi short ribs, which were very tasty. I also tried the chicken combo which included bbq chicken delicious- and chicken katsu, which was a breaded and deed fried cutlet, it was ok, but the sauce included made it better. I really liked the appetizer Spam musubi. The marinated and grilled spam with the soft rice and the seaweed wrap made it so delectable. I'll come back again. The only thing I didn't like was the macaroni salad they include with the meal, it's bland and I rather not mix the mayo flavor with the rest of the yummy food. Went there for lunch with my husband, and the first thing he complained about was how rude the staff is when ordering/picking up. Second, we noticed that in both of our plates (i got the crispy shrimp plate and he got the combo bbq plate) the bed of lettuce that your meat/seafood sits on was FILLED with tiny little black bugs that looked like pepper if you weren't paying attention. If you look closely you can see the little legs, it was disgusting. It looked like they didn't even wash the vegetables before they cooked it because there was so many little bugs. I'd keep a CLOSE eye on your lettuce underneath your meat/seafood because we would've never noticed it we didn't look hella close. Unfortunately I have no photo to add because I scarfed down my food before thinking about Yelp. But this inconspicuous place serves up some really good dishes. My favorite is the teriyaki salmon with brown rice and salad. The glaze on the salmon was delicious. The rice was fluffy and the salad came with a nice miso dressing. The place itself is under construction and the dining area is blocked off. It gives a "Mom and Pop" shop. I wasn't bothered by that at all. However, they lose a star for that. read more
