While I was waiting for my food a young lady was walking up to the door with a cake. I remembered the man who took my order saying, "We have everything but lemon pound cake." When I tell yall, that cake melted in my mouth and it was still warm 10 minutes later......and to top things off their meat was sooooo good I ate it without the bbq sauce. I have been eating Freddy B's BBQ for a while now. I must say that prior times the food was spot on. In fact it was the best bbq on this side of the tunnel. The service was always good. Nice people in there. Nice bbq spot with a tv in to watch while you wait for your food. Unfortunately this time was not ok. The two things that got me upset was the fact that the greens weren't as tasty as before. Not sure if it was to much brown sugar or to much of a smoke taste. The second thing that got me pissed off was how they chopped the tri tip into REALLLLLY small pieces as if I had no teeth or they were feeding a toddler. When I think about it, it probably was food from the day before. Now yes they chop it but this time, the cook went too far. Also going up on your prices I would expect a little more food. The WORST customer service in the history of bad service. The food was not good; the mac & cheese was all dried out, and the meat was NOTHING but fat. They gave me the wrong sides. The staff was awful. Very unprofessional. Over charged me and then didn't know how to give me my money back, and told me, "They didn't know how to do it so I was out of luck." After church a group of us stopped in to try Freddy's. I had the 3 way...ribs, brisket, Mac & cheese and yams. The meat was completely smoked, flavor was on point and very tender. The greens fell short, I needed more seasoning. The macaroni was good and the yams...OH MY GAWD!!!!!!! The yams must have been soaked in all the tasty ingredients that they used. This place is truly a gem. If you blink, you'll miss it . The neighborhood around it isn't the most desirable but I was pleasantly surprised by the excellent customer service and delicious food. I've lived in this county for more than 15 years, and I have never found a barbecue place that I liked. This will be the first the ribs were tender and delicious. The sauce had a very nice flavor the only side that I did not love were the green beans it was because there was corn mixed in with them and I just don't love corn, but I ate it anyway. Portions of meat don't match the price. I ordered a two with ribs and links with two premium side and cornbread for $35.11. The ribs were two of smallest pieces and the links were cut up small as if they took half the link to make it look like more. I never went to a BBQ restaurant that chop or say diced their Tri tips into small bits of pieces similar to the meat as steak tacos!! Just picked up some takeout. Half slab of ribs, links, greens, cornbread, potato salad, and peach cobbler. Ribs were delicious, smoky, fall-off the bone tender. Greens were also good even with the stems included, but cooked tender. Nice sized cornbread muffins. We didn't like the potato salad. Peach cobbler was good, though the crust was a little soft. I highly recommend Freddy B's BBQ. They do need to change their packaging. The salad and cobbler came in these paper coffee cups that were not very appealing and the sipping opening in the top of the lid allowed food to spill during transport.
