I lost my Yamaha key and wanted to get the best deal on making a new key from scratch. I went to City Lock and they quoted me $125. After that I made my way to Buffalo Lock & Key and they quoted me $50 (which is basically 60% off). I was able to get the key fast (and even got a spare for a couple more dollars), and whenever i had questions about the process they were always very helpful on the phone and in person. I paid $53 for 2 keys and saved a ton of money. I want to thank John, as well as all the employees that helped me out for being very professional, quick, and for charging the BEST PRICE IN BOULDER. I've been happy with Buffalo Lock & Key every time I've gone there (and that's a lot). My most recent experience was yesterday when I went in to get a new lock for my mailbox. I didn't know if I needed a clockwise or counterclockwise lock, so the clerk charged me for one but handed me both and said to bring back the one I don't need. I was so impressed with that level of service and trust in his customers and when I dropped the unneeded lock off today, I told the owner exactly that. Well done! read more

As a customer service professional, I can be critical of how businesses operate and communicate with clients. Today I had to call Buffalo Lock and Key in Boulder to fix a project a different locksmith screwed up last week. Not only did they fit me into their schedule, they fixed the issue (with a very complex lock) within minutes. I had a bunch of locks replaced and some re-keyed by Buffalo Lock & Key (I wanted to have the same key for all doors in the new house, and they were all of different manufacturers). They came on time and did a good job. Only 4 stars because I think it was on the pricy side, but overall I'm satisfied and I'd probably hire them again. read more

Needed a front door re-keyed asap and Buffalo has someone out that day. The door deadbolt was so antiquated they no longer make the keys readily available so the core was replace and two new keys were left with me - all in about an hour. Happy to have this off my list! read more

I recently discovered this key and lock store because they are one of the few (if not only) places that have safe deposit key blanks, and I needed to replace a lost one when I closed my box at the bank. Since then, I've been back to also duplicate my house key. They are super fast and, at least for basic key duplication, quite affordable. read more

I never write reviews, but I saw the couple of negative ones for this business, so I wanted to add a positive one. My issues weren't emergent, but I was given an appt 2 days from when I called, which I thought was fabulous. The locksmith called 10-15 minutes before to let me know he was close and arrived within the first half hour of the appointment window. He was able to fix 2 broken deadbolts on site, key my front screen door, and even fix an upstairs door that was misaligned so wasn't latching. All took about 30 minutes and only cost me $130. I was very happy with the work done, the cost, and the friendly service! read more

The technician who came over to the house for lock installation was totally fine. (Well, he was a contractor, not really from BLK.) Very professional and experienced. The problem was the BLK guy who answers the phone, arrange the appointments, etc. (I should have asked his name!) We set the appointment at 8 am, and he was saying "it's scheduled first thing in the morning". Well, no one came at 8 am. My husband and I were taking some time off from work for this appointment, so we the time was important. At 8:15 I called the shop. He answered that the locksmith was dispatched 5-10 min ago and he was coming very soon. Again, nothing happened another 20 minutes, then at 8:35, the locksmith called us and asked if anyone is at home. I just called 20 minutes ago asking if anyone is coming! So he wasn't even driving to our house yet then. How could the BLK guy say "he was coming very soon"? The locksmith arrive at 8:47 am. However, he told us that his contract with BLK is to start the service sometime in this 2-hour slot, 8 - 10 am, not AT 8 am. He was surprised that BLK didn't tell us that. (He was nice enough to apologize for that though it wasn't his fault.) So, for the both calls we made to BLK, they never told us it's not a "8 am appointment" but "sometime between 8-10 am". I guess they don't know it makes a big difference and could cause serious inconveniences for their customers especially who have a regular job. It's a basic business practice, but not for them. FYI, the dispatching fee was $59, the service fee was $75/hr. read more

I called Buffalo and within 20 minutes Shari was at my home looking at my locks and advising me. I wasn't sure if I needed to replace the hardware or not--certainly was willing to but she told me it was high quality and all I needed to do was re-key the locks. Shari clearly knows her business and saved me a bundle of money, but more important, she CARES ABOUT HER CUSTOMERS! The fact that Buffalo is locally owned is a bonus. Shari is a definite "Woohoo! As good as it gets!" Don't bother looking elsewhere for your locksmith needs. read more

Excellent customer service, I was in the need of a motorcycle key really badly, and when I walked up I saw they had just closed, as I walked a way the owner got out of her car and asked what I needed. I told her and she went out of her way to go back inside to make the key for me. Very friendly, and definitely have my service if I am in need again.
