This is my preferred place to sell my clothes, the staff is always friendly, they always give me good prices on my clothes, and they usually have some good stuff to trade for. The store is pretty big and lots of variety! I like buffalo exchange a lot! The girl at the counter doing clothing exchanges for selling was pretty rude. I didn't do anything to her and she was acting like I was stupid because I didn't know buffalo exchange protocol for exchanging my items I wanted to sell. She was acting like I was inconvenient. Which I understand, if you're getting paid like $8 an hour you probably aren't thrilled to be at work. Although, it's Phoenix and there's lots of job opportunity. She looked like she hated her job, I didn't quite catch her name but she had like three hoops in her nose and short brown slightly wavy hair that was to her chin. I love shopping at this store. I do have to go through a lot of stuff to find what I'm looking for and the prices on a lot of the items aren't really great but I always leave with one or two things. Some of the clothes are really cheap and tacky and some are right out of target and Forever 21 at regular price but finding my favorite Free People shirts and dresses for $10 and $15 can't be beat. I wish I had read more reviews before coming in here! I had piles of clothes that I was going to bring to Goodwill, but figured I'd try out buffalo exchange, even if I made a few bucks for it. I had a combination of items- men's and women's, some heavily worn but some with the tags still on them, some were brand names like Express, Guess, Forever 21, Charlotte Russe, Arturo Chiang, etc. Granted a lot of it was older styles that had been sitting in my closet, I sill thought I'd get a few bucks out of the four bags I brought. Like other reviewers, all of my stuff was declined. The employee (who I will say was extremely nice and personable) explained that the items that sell are more trendy items like high waisted jeans, crop tops etc. that would sell within two months. Every time I have shopped here, I've seen a great variety of styles, so I was a little surprised they took nothing! Again, like other reviewers, a girl next to me had brought it some items and was given $7 for a crop top WITH STAINS ON THE FRONT! I took the recommendation of another reviewer on here and went to a different thrift shop across town and was pleasantly surprised with how much I was given! read more

I brought in for bags of clothes today they took one shirt from me because it still had the tags on it. I brought in 15 polos and five dress shirt some had not been worn some have been worn once and they were not interested in them at all. The fact that they have young kids working in the store they're only going to purchase used clothes that they are interested in. Not good quality clothes didn't even look at the tags of some of this was polo Calvin Klein two shirts were Ralph Lauren. In my opinion they really don't know what they're looking at. (NOTE: this is an angry "they didn't take my stuff review, so if you're not selling it may not be that useful to you) I spoke with a staff member over the phone and I asked what they were buying today. The buyer gave me a fairly long list of items, with the caveat that all of it had to be in good shape. Encouraged, I grabbed my bag of items that had been mentioned, then headed out. Sounds good so far! But no. When I got there, the buyer looked at all of the 20 or so items I brought and turned them all away (despite having told me 15 minutes earlier that this was exactly what she was looking for). She said that "there was nothing wrong with any of it, but they were being selective due to limited space" The only item that they wanted to keep was a one-off shirt that I brought home from Taiwan (not even on the list!). Now, I don't have a problem with someone not taking clothes. I don't have a problem with looking around the men's section and not finding any good items. But I absolutely have a problem with being directly lied to, or at the very least, misled. Overall, other Yelpers were right. Save your time, go to a different location. read more

As much as I like the retail aspect of this store, I have a bone to pick with the clothing exchange portion. Whenever I go in to sell my clothes, I am always confused by their picking process. First, it's the faces. The faces that the employees make when looking through your clothes. Could you at least TRY not to look so disgusted at my clothing? Also, Why do you choose my target and forever 21 clothing over my designer and semi-designer clothing? The latter is in better condition anyway! The staff of this "establishment" are some of the rudest, most condescending individuals I have ever met in my life. They will not give you ANY money, and you will have much better luck at Sunset Clothing Exchange, which is right up the street (Plus they actually have friendly staff). The people who are buying the clothes should not be buyers; judging from the way that they style themselves, they know nothing about fashion whatsoever. Everyone who has stated that you will not get any money from them for designer items is right... they would much rather have trite, "trendy" studded vests from Target than a pair of Miu Miu sunglasses. I was there about a year ago, and one of their young female employees was laughing, snarking and making faces at me. I had no idea who she was. It got to the point where my friend actually pulled her aside and said something. Today, their manager called me something that I can't even print on here. I had never seen him in my life, either. Complete waste of my time. Spent 30 minutes driving there for them to accept 2 things out of 50. I went through my closet trying to trade out items that I still currently wear, and out of all the things they took was a pair of skinny jeans and side purse. The way they configure which clothes are worth value is beyond me because the things they kept were my least favorite and not even new. I still had tags on a bunch of summer dresses I got within 3 months and they wouldn't even take those. They were all really cute tank top dresses! Never going there again! Trading in my clothes at Buffalo Exchange was one of the most humiliating and dehumanizing experiences I have ever had, no really. I have a bunch of cool stuff, in good enough condition for a used clothing store, that I wanted to trade in for some new-to-me jeans for school. I prefer to recycle. I waited an hour for my turn. The people behind the counter were snooty. They looked at me, and my stuff, like we were disgusting. It was embarrassing! The guy that "helped" me, asked the girl next to him about every item he thought he might buy. After going through the three bags of cool stuff I brought in, he was going to buy two brand new pairs of shoes that I never wore, and a couple of items of clothing. A girl came up to take over his shift?? and she did not accept anything of mine that he was going to, except for the two brand new pairs shoes. I was mad. After they gave me 22 bucks trade I looked though what they had on the racks, and my stuff was in way better condition, AND way cooler. The only reason they get two stars is because I did find a rocking pair of Lucky Jeans that only ended up costing me 7 bucks. read more

I love shopping at buffalo exchange but when it comes to selling I prefer selling to the Phoenix location because the employees are a lot more genuine, there's less of a hipster pretentious vibe there, and I usually sell more there too. Not to mention the Tempe location usually turns the music off at 8:30, which gives an unwanted feeling to their guests. I am giving two stars for the sake of finding things at all locations. I seen a shirt that I really liked on the rack that had a ink pen mark on it, I showed it to the manager name Lauren and without blinking she said I'll take 50% off. I was really impressed with her and the sales people. The culture has really changed over the last few years. The salespeople are not snotty like when Denise used to work there. Not sure what to do with those clothes that are still in style or want to get a nice designer shirt that's only been worn once for 95% off? Some tips, they use their magic tag code reading skills to determine how current an article of clothing is, how sellable it is, if it's vintage is it still trendy or will a hipster buy it? etc... just like if you were selling a used car, you want to make sure the items are clean (duh), pressed, or dry cleaned prior to selling so they look more desirable. Each buyer is a little different, so if you think something of yours is good, but one buyer didn't buy it from you, try again later with someone else. If you go on a weekend to sell, try not to get there right at open because everyone else has the same idea when selling their stuff. Be prepared to wait. They won't buy Jeans with rips usually, even if they are designed that way (not sure why since isn't that the current style?). I love taking store credit or if you want take the cash! I have seen some GREAT bargains - a Tory Burch embroidered tunic for $15, designer leather purse with awesome hardware, $30 etc.. It's hit or miss if you are shopping, but half the fun's in the hunt! read more

I called before going in to ask what kind of clothing they will be taking.. they told me anything from winter, summer, spring and name brands. I brought in a little of everything, I had a laundry basket full of at least 50 items all in good condition. They took nothing!!! I had CalvinKlein,Nike, Guess and NFL shirts and a purse. I am an avid Crossroads shopper back home in California so I decided to see how this place compared. It is definitely bigger than Crossroads. They also have a lot more clothes to choose from. HOWEVER, the amount of designer pieces is extremely minimal. I was lucky to find a pair of True Religion jeans that fit me. The prices are also a bit higher. They had a couple designer purses behind the counter but I had no idea what they were since they didn't have signs or anything. The employees were friendly and they will start a dressing room for you so you don't have to lug everything all around. In the end though the condition and price for most of the clothing wasn't appealing to me. read more

Clean place, friendly staff and a few nice articles of clothing. Considering that it IS a sort of glorified thrift store, I'm not too surprised that some of B.E.'s clothes are a bit more on the pricey side than your average Good Will or Salvation Army. If you're looking to make money selling your slightly-worn clothing, you're better off just donating them because there's a slim chance that you'll get even a sliver back of how much you originally spent on them. But, if you're a broke college student, like myself, making a last-ditch effort to get a few bucks, wait for the right time of year to try your luck selling the clothes that weren't accepted the first time (Ex: Sweaters for fall, crop-tops and maxi-dresses for summer, etc.). read more

I've sold to this location a handful of times and the girls there are always polite and friendly even when they're unable to take my merchandise. But unfortunately this visit, the gentleman that looked through my items wouldn't let me see the clothes he took when I asked. He said "They're already tagged, sorry." He looked at me pretty condescending that I would even ask such a thing and seemed quite miserable to be working there. Just left the buffalo exchange in Phoenix and its pretty much the same set up as the original one in Tucson. But if you ask me I like the staff in Tucson a lot better. Disappointed is the word I would use for this store. I've been to another buffalo exchange, and I had a better experience there. Here, they have a large variety of weird clothes. Some clothes resemble the current fads, but mostly strange clothing. Everything was super expensive for clothes that looked more than "gently used". I was greeted by a friendly staff person when I walked into a clean and attractive store with a current selection of clothing. The Buffalo Exchange is awesome and I just love shopping there for cheap, designer denim and vintage Ts. If you are planning on updating your wardrobe and trading in your used clothing then make sure that it is seasonally-appropriate (no bikinis in December) and that it is fashionable. The latest Ann Taylor collections (or those that are a few seasons old) might look awesome to professionals, but they are usually shunned by the buyers at the Buffalo Exchange. After a recent trip to San Diego, I discovered Buffalo Exchange and instantly fell in love! I'm all about unique and cool steals! So I was even more excited to find out that there was a Buffalo Exchange not too far from me. I got a huge bag of all of my unwanted clothing together and took the HOUR long drive over to buffalo to see if I could store some good store credit! I go in and the place was way bigger than the store in San Diego and super clean. Most of the staff was friendly except for the lady that was looking through my items I was selling. Not one smile the whole time. And she was the slowest person I've ever met. I am a very patient person but when I'm talking slow I'm talking Flash from Zootopia slow. She was rude, unprofessional and simply looked like she didn't want to be there. So I go shop around for a little waiting for her to be done and when I get back she tells me that I get $6 in cash or $10 in store credit.. WHAT? I had a great big bag of cute clothes and a bunch of cute shoes. I'm 95% sure she didn't even go through the whole thing because the bag looks the same as when I gave it to her. So make sure you watch them if you're selling your clothes. I will not be going back and it was a huge waste of time. read more

Be careful of the newer employees. I purchased two items (one normal priced, one on sale) and specifically asked what the return policy was. I was told 5 days, tags on, with receipt. The next day, I go to return item that was on sale and the manager informs me that sale items cannot be returned. If you are a buyer here wondering why there is no good designer brands... well, the reason is that they rip you off if you try to get them to buy the items. I came in with a brand new(with extra button bag still attached!) $400 All Saints leather jacket, and they offered $20 on it! That's 5%! And not only that, they wanted some $200 JBrand jeans I had but before even telling me what price they would offer, they took them and threw them into their stock bin! Turns out they offered $7. If they wanted to run a used shop, maybe their prices should reflect that. They are basically the GameStop of clothing stores. Use eBay, you'll get a better deal, and wont be subjected to the horrible customer service and being treated like you are trying to pass off a pile of shit as if it was gold. read more

I came in yesterday looking to buy jeans for work, and left with two shirts, two pairs of non work pants, two pairs of work jeans, a skirt, and shoes. The shoes were brand new doc martens (with tags and extra yellow laces) for $65! What a steal! I also brought in a fairly large amount of clothes, not expecting much since I haven't had luck selling here before, and made $45! They had interesting choice in what they took (I had about 10 pairs of designer jean shorts that they didn't touch, but they took my bow tie and large March Hare top hat from halloween?)
