I found the pricing to be very reasonable on the items that I purchased. In addition, they offered various discounts for students, veterans, etc. The cashiers were super friendly as well. My daughter has surpassed my love of thrifting so I knew we had to visit this Yelp darling while in Tempe. The store may be compact in comparison to the chain thrift stores but it is much cleaner and more organized. My daughter found some fun graphic tees(Golden Girls, The Beatles, two of our faves) and a cute skirt. I found another book to add to my massive TBR collection. The staff is friendly. read more

I'm really sad to see this place change so much. I used to adore coming here religiously!!! They have over marked everything room away the beautiful vintage books and feel. The furniture is priced at Amazon prices.... Whoever took over needs to be fired they have done this place dirty. And adding a random shop inside the vintage store is weird. I would spend 100's in here but now i won't spend a dime. This thrift store is very clean with some good finds. They have a brand new building that I've never been to in over 10 years. The staff is very helpful, the items for sale are interesting and unique. They didn't have any sales going on the day I went in, and I found too much. This review is regarding the exceptional customer service, from employee/Manager, Kari. I have been donating items to Gracie's Cottage for years. Ever since they were located at their old location on Apache. Yesterday I donated a basket of items. I didn't realize that I had placed my cell phone in that basket. When I realized what had happened it was hours later. I contacted Kari. I told her my phone is showing that it is some where in Gracie's Cottage. She went above and beyond to help me find my phone. I have gone by this place quite a few times since riding the light rail. Its a small independent thrift store, which is partially what drew me in. Like Rhonda said in her review, its not huge like the goodwills, or savers for that matter. Much smaller in size, but you still have that eclectic selection of items to choose from...clothing, furniture, books, knick knacks and everything else you would expect to find at a place like this. I did not buy anything here this time around, but would probably return to shop and/or donate items. The only upsetting thing is that they are closed on Sundays! read more

Don't go for clothing if you're hoping to try anything on. No fitting rooms and clothes are final sale. I asked if there was an intention to open them back up and I was told no they're closed due to theft when I said that was crazy they were final sale with nowhere to try on they said "I don't think that stops anyone." You don't? Bc it stopped me. I would have bought a lot more had i been able to ensure that used clothing fit me. Clothes at thrift stores don't fit as they did when they were first purchased. What if the clothes have had previous alterations, have loose waistbands from wear/washing, or shrunk bc they were incorrectly cared for? The restroom and fitting rooms are closed bc of theft... You would think there would be more empathy with this being a "church organization" considering ALL of their products being free/donated to them and considering it's a religious org they pay no taxes lmfao. I don't expect much less from the church though lol. People don't steal for fun or bc they're bored. People steal bc they can't afford necessities. I like this thrift store because it reminds me of the stores back east where I grew up. Back east the thrift stores are not all clean and pretty like Savers or the giant Goodwills here in AZ. This place also doesn't have as high of prices as the clean and organized stores so you are more apt to find a bargain here. Gracie's is in an older building along Apache that always seems to have some water leaking and doesn't pipe in scents through the air system to mask the fact that you are buying someone else's old stuff. (I just realized that Goodwill does fragrance the air with cinnamon, I thought I was losing my mind until I noticed it in three separate Goodwills in the valley.) They always have a lot of nice clothing, housewares and a lot of books. I was in there recently and there seemed to be a lot less inventory so I don't know if they were just slow on donations or maybe clearing out to possibly renovate. Getting to the place has been a nightmare recently because of the light rail construction so if you know your Tempe streets I would suggest coming in from the neighborhood behind the store, not off of Apache. A nice change of pace from Goodwill, my usual thrifting go-to. I love the new building and am so impressed by the construction. It makes the whole area look much nicer and mixed-use construction is a smarter way to build cities. The interior of Gracie's is clean and organized, but the selection is much smaller than other thrift stores I've visited. High quality items and reasonable prices, with occasional sales that make everything even cheaper. Last time I was here, I found an amazing vintage fur shawl that was made in Phoenix. I got my favorite aqua blue armchair, with original upholstey AND working (well, I might add) caster wheels for a screaming 25 dollars. I also got my first book of music there when I was learning to play as a kid, paid 25 cents andstill might be able to eek out the Mash theme song, the Star Wars Theme Song, I'd Do Anything for Love (but I won't do that). I've never personally purchased clothing here. They have a soda machine, which I like in a thrift store. You just never know what's in there (besides religious music). I believe Gracie's is closed now and they're building condos in the area. EDIT: Gracie's has moved to the plaza over right next door to Food City. Okay despite everyone's glowing reviews this place is absurd!! The woman working the register Shari was not only rude but condescending to boot. I bought a blender for $15 (not even a high-end blender I'm talking a Hamilton Beach number) and when I got to my car I saw the lid was cracked but it had been taped together. The tag on the appliance said "tested works great perfect condition", & I figured in a Christian thrift shop you could trust this to be true. When I showed the defect to Shari she smugly told me it was unfortunate and there was nothing she could do. PS when they have 50% off items you get to choose whether you want 50% off a single item or to be questioned whether or not the coupon you have downloaded from their website is valid?!?!! I strongly urge you to spend your money at a "Christian" thrift store that actually practices Christian values..... amen! read more

New location literally across the street in a new building right across from Haji Baba's. They are still setting up inside so they do not have a huge selection, but everything was well organized. This place reminds me more of the old school thrift stores, and not the glossy Goodwills of today. If you are looking for genuine vintage finds to DIY or just to have in your home, this is the place to stop. Customer service was almost absent though, but I suppose that will pick up once they start doing more business. There was literally no one in the store when I went, and I think only one or two people came in while I was there. They have plenty of craft items, porcelain dolls, and books. I like this thrift store because it is a REAL thrift store. I don't like this thrift store chain action that Savers is marketing, so it's nice to Yelp a thrift store and have a legit one show up.
