This location stays true to the chain's signature vibe--organized, color-coded racks, clearly labeled sizes, and that department-store feel (very much giving a Kohl's-type shopping experience). It's easy to browse, nothing feels chaotic, and you can actually enjoy the hunt without getting overwhelmed. They also keep up with the basics--clean, spacious dressing rooms and restrooms, which always makes a difference when you're planning to try things on and take your time. Now, I'm rating this location in comparison to another DESERET Industry store I gave five stars, and the only reason this one lands at four is the air quality. There's a noticeable mustiness--more of that classic thrift store smell--and oddly enough, I found myself sneezing while inside, which wasn't happening before I walked in. I will say, the toys and home goods sections do lose a bit of that polished feel. Like the other location, those areas lean more toward slightly disorganized--nothing wild, but enough to break the otherwise clean, curated flow of the store. Aside from that? Solid spot. My sister wanted to hit up some thrift stores for her birthday, so we found this place! Despite being self-proclaimed thrift experts, neither of us have been to a Deseret Industries before. When we first walked in, I thought it was a normal (non-thrift) store. It was so organized, especially the clothing department, which was literally sorted by color. I did not see much with regard to the housewares section and I don't believe there was a jewelry section, but we found it to be a worthwhile thrifting experience all the same. The prices were super reasonable too. Would definitely return! read more

I made an impulse purchase of an electronic cat toy for my daughter and her cat. Everything in the box was in the original wrapper, and it looked unused. When I got it home and tried to charge it up, it wouldn't take a charge. The charging light came on, but it wouldn't ever indicate it was charged and the mechanical action didn't work. I went back to the store where I got it, but the manager said that I was out of luck, and they wouldn't do anything about it. I was told he "couldn't" because it was "store policy". I pointed out that a "policy" doesn't mean you can't, it means you won't. He suggested I simply donate it back to the store, and they'd "probably get rid of it". "Probably"? By the immediacy and eagerness for this option, my thinking is it would "probably" go right back on the shelf for someone else to go through the same sequence. Indeed, it's hard to tell how many times this has happened already. I declined to "re-donate" it to save the next customer the same experience. read more

One of my favorite thrift stores. Smiling staff greet you as you come through the door, it is a clean store, they have dressing rooms (many thrift stores do not). The prices are great! I bought perfect fit Levi's for $5 (compare at $95 retail). I found Laredo cowboy boots, like new, for $4! (These cost $220 at Western stores!) Cute dresses and tops, lots of children's clothing. Wowwww... This is the A, number 1, best thrift store I have ever walked into. They are super organized, sooo clean, everything is marked and sized correctly, I couldn't find a ripped, torn or discolored garment a broken toy, a damaged bag, a weed trimmer with a missing part, a shoe without it's mate, or a lamp with a broken on/off switch anywhere. I'm so surprised at the quality of this thrift store and how amazing their prices are. I left with probably 20 total items including shirts, shorts, bags, kids toys and spent around $100. I got a couple of new tshirts for myself, a good amount of uniform clothes for my upcoming kindergartener, some board games, this is a place I'd definitely drive out of my way for to shop at again, and that's saying a lot because I really don't like driving far for much of anything. read more

This location is awesome!!!!!! Oldest store in the valley but it is very clean and organized. It does not smell which is amazing for a thrift store. I bought a pair of work pants for only $8 that were brand new. Much cheaper than the $80 the Under Armor charges for sure. They have vintage and collectibles as well. The lower yard has some metal and outdoor items which was fun to look at. They even had a skate board made out of a water ski. Electric lawn mower for $6 was a great buy. Some power tools, bike and electronics as well. read more

I love that I can donate to an organization where I know that my donations go towards helping people who need things but also to train individuals for employment and to advance themselves. I am glad my donations don't go to a CEO who gets wealthy off of my free stuff I donate. I also love that when I used to volunteer there that we learned when they had excess they would bundle it up and it would be available to people in natural disaster or other countries. read more

Excellent thrift store! And has a wider selection than their Glendale location. Found some slacks and pencil skirts for work here. It's amazing what you'll find. For instance, I found an Ann Klein skirt that still had its Macy's tag on. Went for $89, dropped to $66, then to $44, and it was sold here for $6! They're also a non-profit so the funds go back to helping the community which is a plus. I'll definitely be back! read more

Deseret Industries is a thrift store chain associated with LDS (Latter-Day Saints, or the Mormon Church). The store itself is very well organized with selections of clothes, furniture, household items and electronics. The selection is good and I was thrilled to see an entire shelf full of computer screen monitors, exactly what I was looking for. However, I realized too late that there are no exchanges or returns allowed on electronics, only clothing items. I didn't see any signs stating this policy when I was in the electronics section or when checking out. There was also no way to actually test the monitors to make sure they worked before you bought them. Luckily, while 2 of the monitors I bought work, the screen on one can't be reliably used but I'm only out $10. The prices for the monitors were the same as prices at Goodwill, which has a good return/exchange policy since obviously you have no way of knowing what you bought will actually work. Let the buyer beware. read more

Wow, great store, quality merchandise and good prices! I'd been in here on my last trip but don't remember being this impressed a coupla years ago. I got some cheap yarn, a few items for the little ones, and some craft materials, all for a pittance. I will be back and will tell my daughter to check it out too. Everything is clean and organized and one lady in particular was extremely helpful. There was a brief turn - off when I first walked in and tried to make eye contact with a young male employee to ask where the craft items were. He turned away from me and started talking to another employee which I thought was rude until I realized he was mentally challenged and probably didn't pick up on the eye contact clue that I needed help. Since I heartily approve of employing the handicapped I quickly forgave the unintentional slight. After that all was good. As much as I like the local Goodwill and Savers stores, this one has won my approval also. read more

Really nice thrift store. Clean and laid out nicely. I always seem to find a book, movie, or some random item to purchase. The prices are fair and most everything on the shelves is in decent shape. I keep coming back looking for a chair, but just can't seem to find the right one through no fault of the store. They have several great furniture items at any given time. It is always fun when an employee brings a cart of new household items out onto the floor. Before stocking the shelves, they just leave the cart at the end of an aisle and step back. Shoppers swarm to the new items like piranha and before you know it there are only a handful of things remaining on the cart for the employee to stock. It is pure genius. Our favorite auto body shop is directly across the street so this thrift store is a must stop for us whenever our vehicle needs attention. read more

I love Deseret Industries, but this is the worst location. There are always homeless people outside harassing people. Inside, it has an uncomfortable feeling. The lights seem dim and it's eerie. The prices are horrible at this location. There was a Walmart dress that had the tag from Walmart original priced at $14 at Walmart. Here, they priced it for $12. That is not much of a deal at all, only about 15% off. Other locations, I found a dress originally for $70 with the price tag still on it and that location had it priced at $7. Wow! This place is Clean! When you walk in, it looks like a nice clothing store, with round clothes racks. Their shoe and book sections are Pristine! They did lose 1 star for the other aisles which are a tangle of merchandise. Probably would sell better/more if everything wasn't in a heap on the shelves. And it clashes with the atmosphere of the rest of the store. Sad. Still, lots of good bargains and the prices are very reasonable. If you don't mind used items this is the place to go. My wife and I have a junior in college and she recently got an apartment with 2 other girls. Our part was the kitchen and we fitted the entire kitchen with amazing quality items for under $100. The staff was great and wrapped each plate and glass item with paper. The manager even brought us a box to carry everything out. This is about an hour drive from the house but we will be back when our son goes to college read more

Deseret Industries (or more commonly known as "The D.I.") is one of my favorite places to shop! They are akin to Goodwill in that they have lots of second hand used items. You can find clothing, shoes, books, furniture, toys, records...just tons of stuff! Although I have shopped at other D.I.'s that had more to offer, this one is pretty good. They always have items neatly organized, and plenty of floor associates to help you out which is good because the store is often very busy and full of people. The womens clothing is fun to browse through, I think they tend to have more dresses than Goodwill does, which I like. They have a good assortment of blouses and I've seen some nice shoes there. I think the quality of clothing they accept is slightly higher than other thrift stores. Occasionally they will have some good furniture. I think they even sell new bedroom sets for cheap that you can order. They have a nice assortment of random outdoorsy/kitsch items. Usually they have a back lot where you can find ceiling fans, bedframes, doors, bikes, etc. However they have it closed off right now. Maybe they are waiting to get more items? As an Art student, I can always find some great strange items here that help me with my school projects. My only complaint is that sometimes they price things too high. For example one time I needed a lot of wire for a school project and they had some tiny bundles, but priced at $4.00 each. That's a lot of money for a tiny bundle of wire! Sometimes they have really poor quality framed pictures for 10-20 dollars even though they have water damage and the frame is falling apart. One thing I like about the D.I. is that they will offer employment to people who have found difficulty finding jobs in the past for some reason or another. They train the people who work there so that they can be prepared to find a job in another setting. Also, whatever clothing they do not sell is sent to humanitarian aid to be given away worldwide. So I respect this store for its good intentions! Overall, good store and lots of great stuff! Go and see for yourself! read more

Deseret Industries is unlike any other thrift store that I tend to frequent: The clothes here actually fit me. Just last weekend, I bought a pair of jeans and they fit me so well. I've never really had thrift store pants fit me too well because I'm so short. I'm only 5'5". As such, whatever I buy I need to cuff on the bottom. No matter what, I look like 1 1950's hooligan because everyone's legs are just so much longer than mine. I bought a sportcoat here about two years ago and it's still the nicest fitting coat I've bought for myself from a thrift store. Dude, man, you have no idea. It fits me perfectly. And it was cheap. The inside label informed me (to my girlfriend's amusement) that it originated from a now-out-of-business store from California called "The Short Shop: Clothes for the shorter man." Well, this place isn't for everyone. But, for some reason, almost everyone who donates clothes here is apparently just a little guy and I thank them for their donation. read more

The DI is the best! I come here to shop when I feel discouraged or blue. Something about the spirituallity of the LDS church members rubs off on me and I begin to feel my spirits pick up. Good people are good people, and the workers are wonderful. I like their slogan: "Give stuff a second chance." Well, we all need a second chance and so on those blue days I come here and I leave feeling pretty good, and with some few tchotchke's that cost me a couple of dollars. My kitchen is filled with awesome cookware that I use everyday. It is really a very special place and I bring all my gently used and clean things here to donate when I am ready to pass them on. This is one of the best thrift stores around. It's really clean and organized. All the racks a SIZED and and sectioned into categories. I like that all the prices are consistent and everything is in pretty good condition. Nothing I have ever found was over priced. It is what it is. My best find was a pink Betsy Johnson coat for $6.00!!!! It's almost like shopping at a dept store it's so nice and tidy. My only compliant is that the fitting rooms can be kind of stinky. read more

Wowzers! Name brand jeans for $6! A purse for $1.50! We got a cart full of goods for $47. So impressed. We came into the store and there was a toddler going crazy. He was in the cart and crying like a crazy man, the frazzled mom was trying to look at shoes for him and a bag for herself. An employee came up to the little boy and tried to make him smile. She was so nice despite the awful racket this kid was making. All the customers were nice and seemed sympathetic, too. Finallly my son calmed down and we were able to find bargians galore! Visited this location on a Saturday for the first time and was impressed. I found a few cute tank tops for cheap, and some brand new king size sheets (I think 850 thread count) for $15! They are locked up so you need an employee to open the glass case for them. There is also a decent maternity section, and sooooo many shoes! The prices are so good in this place, you feel like plowing over all the slow-zombie shoppers and loading your cart with everything you can grab! Secretly, I want to push the "Closet Hoarders" out of my way...there are a lot of them who shop here and they grab the "good stuff". I think there are Amazon Sellers too, sometimes you'll see them scanning ISBN bar codes with their little hand held PDAs...it's interesting to observe who shops here. This place is cleaner and more organized than any Ross or TJ Maxx that I have ever been in...there were plenty of employees everywhere stocking the shelves with MORE treasures!!! Did I mention the AWESOME prices??? Books, toys, DVDs, clothing, random stuff that I don't really need...cheaper than Goodwill...and the folks here were pretty friendly.
