I like this location. Very organized and easy to shop. Everyone is very friendly and kind when coming to sell or shop. One negative- Selling takes FOREVER to complete compared to other locations I have been to. The girls at the counter seem to enjoy chatting and giggling more than doing work. It's frustrating to wait hours when only 2 buys are ahead of you. I just watched the girls take 30 minutes just to enter my items while they gossip. Great store. I had heard of this place but never visited. I was happy to find it. A gently used clothing and accessories store for women, men and children. Everything was organized and separated by size and type of clothing, including shoes. Some great deals. I did see many things that appeared brand new. I found a small travel bag that will be useful. I left a detailed review of my experience at this store on Google and instead of an apology the owner claimed I exaggeration my experience. She was not in the store and double down on calling me basically a liar. I have no reason to lie or exaggerate my experience. It happened exactly the way I described. You are encouraging bad behavior from your employees. I guess the old saying the customer is always right doesn't apply here. Plato's Closet Tempe is hands down one of my favorite thrift store! Every time I walk in, I feel so welcomed and like I truly belong. This is the only thrift store that even remembers my name, which makes such a big difference. The staff here are always kind, helpful, and genuinely make the experience so positive. I always find amazing pieces like Lululemon, Vuori, Alo, and even Chubbies for my husband. It's such a great feeling to score high-quality items while saving money. I absolutely love this Plato's Closet! I have been regularly visiting/selling for over 3 years now and it's a great experience every time. I find the staff to be extremely helpful, friendly, and honest when checking me out or buying clothing from me. Unlike some other harsh reviewers on here (sheesh...) I understand that this small business isn't able to take every single item that walks through the door at any given time despite my items being good quality or in style. I am always invited to bring back my clothing in the future as well. I love the clothing selections and I feel like I always find something cute every time I come around. I genuinely think about 80% of my closet has been curated with items from this location. With traditional thrift shop prices going up, this Platos is my favorite outlet for thrifted items. I appreciate how organized and clean the store is and that all items are selected by hand and usually in style while still being great prices. I follow the instagram and I love being kept up to date on what's currently in shop. I also love when you guys post items that are specifically being sought out at the time, I'm able to go through some clothes and bring in some old sweaters knowing you all are in need of sweaters. Service at this place is extremely terrible. I'm sorry I even have to put one star. I wish y'all gave the option to put zero because that's really what they deserve. Don't ever try to take your unwanted clothing and accessories here to sell them because they are the most pickiest people on earth and they don't care about the styles from the only want what little kids are wearing and prancing around in so if your styles don't match what Gen Z wears, then they will just refuse it outright. Not to little kids working or manners they don't care about people they skills. They're just playing on their cell phones at the front counter and when someone walks in you have to distract their cell phone texting just to get them to acknowledge your presence. I wouldn't even buy anything from the store because the stuff they are selling literally looks like crap and it's just thrown all over the place like a yard sale. You are better off shopping at Goodwill. This store needs to go out of business and the management needs to fire the kids working there. read more

Went in to sell the green lulu lemon top you see at the end of my pictures. The manger said she would not take it so I took a picture of her showing the "stain". When I walked around, I noticed the other things they had for sale. Kind of funny right. This was me only looking around for 5 minutes, there's tons more poorly used items they have for sale that you'll notice with a simple glance. I'm not someone that usually complains but this is my 2nd bad selling experience here. I went back in to talk this out with the girl and when I told her that I would just write a bad review because of x,y, and z she said that's fine, go ahead. I told her in advance because I wanted to give her the opportunity to make things right. Horrible customer service. I bought a few items last week and as I was being rung up, I specifically asked if they accept returns. The cashier said, "Only exchanges and you have to bring the clothes back within one week, tags need to be on, and you have to bring the receipt." I followed her directions EXACTLY. Only to be told today by a different worker a few days later that the items I wanted to exchange were actually final sale. Even after explaining the situation and that I was never told the sale was final, the employee didn't even try to compromise. Sucks when a company's own employees tell customers the wrong info but still it's the customer that pays the price. And the initial cashier had even commented on my items being good clearance finds, so she knew they were clearance when I asked about returns. On Sunday, March 14, I brought 15 items of very nice young womens' CLOTHING to sell at this store (after being told the Scottsdale store was not buying and sending us to their store in Tempe 10 miles away which supposedly was buying). Once there, someone quickly looked at the clothes and a young woman told me that NONE OF THE ITEMS WOULD BE PURCHASED, I figured I wasted at least 5 hours of my time which included preparing the clothes, folding all items from wooden hangers into bags, which they required, as well as drive time. I will never shop there again. In addition, they did not ask permission to text me afterwards. In assessing the clothing at these stores, it is obvious Plato's Closet does not have enough money for their business model and the quality of most of the clothing I saw in both stores was not close to what I brought in. In addition, I should have read Yelp's previous reviews of unhappy customers before even thinking of selling my clothes there. Lesson learned. read more

Based in North Tempe and I drive down to Warner for this location! Came here after a bad experience at the Plato's near me, and have been frequenting this store since. Found some of my best second hand finds at this location for both me and my fiancé! Don't sleep on the men's section!! I do wish they carried more alternatives finds/darker clothes but I do find some nice stuff here when I come in. Last time I came in I saw some boots on their instagram and called asking if they were still available, the girl confirmed on the phone and held them for me, appreciated that! Okay, so I read all the reviews and then decided to come to this specific location simply because it is closest to me and I thought I would see for myself how everything runs here and I can safely say that I won't be back. The girls that work here are very nice and helped to review the items that I brought in (two bags full) and when it was ready the girl said they picked 9 things for $30 and the rest had apparently had wear on them. I literally brought in Uggs that I wore once in and a bunch of other cute things that were very lightly worn--some even had tags (otherwise I wouldn't have brought them in) and now I can understand why people are frustrated with the items that are not being accepted. I will definitely be trying out other Plato stores or selling online. I will say that they have a great selection of clothes to pick from. read more

Today I went in to shop at this platos closet location. This is not my normal location but my daughters wanted to look around since they had found some good Levi shorts before. The store had a decent selection of cute teen clothes (mostly crop tops, nothing much for a Mom like me). However I was less than satisfied with the behavior of the employees... I have never seen employees act so loud and unprofessional! Two employees (I think on their day off, but the behavior was still appalling to me) went into a dressing room together and came out to shout with other employees! My daughters and I were really bothered by the yelling, but we tried to ignore it. It was too much when the working employees did not notice us ready to go into the dressing rooms because they were distracted by the antics of the two other employees in the dressing room. I like the selection of this location but the employees should learn to pay more attention to the customers instead of each other. read more

You know it's bad when you bring in brand new Lulu gear that you never wore WITH TAGS ON, and they DONT EVEN OFFER TO BUY IT. Brought in about 200 items and they offered me $20 for 7 of the items. Not really worth your time. If you wanna make any money at a store like this, drive to New Mexico, Utah, or Nevada while visiting family. I am only giving a one star because it's the lowest allowed. This store deserves a (-1). I have never seen such unfriendly service in a store. Each employee was a young kid and didn't have any professionalism and none of which had any experience with . They are super picky about what they buy so expect to bring most of your items back with you bc they won't buy name brands just bc they aren't willing to take them if they are not the "styles" they want, even when I saw those same styles in their store for sale. Still my go-to for 95% of my clothes! Nothing has changed: the employees are so nice (and I love to overhear how well they get along with each other), the prices are PERFECT, and the clothes are so cute and trendy. I get all of my favorite brands here and can always count on them to be transparent about any flaws or sold as-is items. If there is a flaw that they don't know about, they'll often discount it for you. My only feedback would be I wish they'd have a bigger selection of mediums and larges (including plus sizes). I am right around a M/L and can still find plenty of items, but my sisters who are XS/S can go and find double what I can because they have double the selection. read more

The owners were working at the store and are they sweet or what?! They're from South Dakota, a small town I never heard of. (I'm from North Dakota.) The owner consistently greeted everyone who came in and told them all the details on consigning and I must say I like the way they consign: she looks through your clothes and tells you what she can take, plugs it in the computer and you get cash on the spot (or credit if you want it.) My daughter doesn't like buying thrift or consignment, but she said, "I like Plato's closet, it has some cute stuff." The brands she bought were ASOS, forever 21 and fashion nova. I've bought Free People leggings and my leggings were the most expensive thing at $16. She tried on some Lululemon and they had quite a bit of selection of that brand. We even bought luggage tags for a dollar each! Most surprising to me was that they accepted lotions and face creams and some of those wooden signs like "sweat is fear leaving the body." Everything was well organized by size, by color, by type, with very large signs telling you when you were moving from small to medium, etc.: I love that! And the dressing rooms were open, also love that!. The store also has young men's clothing, their target market is 12 to 24 for both female and male. Try it, you'll like it! read more

My sister and I love shopping at this platos location. They always have something good and very reasonable prices. Lots of online shops, brandy, free people, urban etc. We've also sold clothes too. You don't get a lot of money back but they also don't over price things here so that's fine with me. Check out their Instagram and if you like what you see there that's what they have in store.
