Awesome place to shop for kids - so many items for under $5. Well organized and clean. They pay cash for kids things. They won't buy it if it's not clean and they check for recalls which make me feel better about shopping here. I think people don't realize how cheap they sell things for so they expect them to pay them more, but it's cash instead of donating to goodwill so we love it. Like if they are selling $40 sneakers for $10 they aren't going to pay you $20 for them. read more

I have previously shopped here before and had no problem came in today to sell a bassinet/bathtub/clothes. The lady informed me that they no longer took bassinets which isn't a problem. This was by far the worst experience I've ever had anywhere. After waiting three hours for them to appraise two crib mattresses, and a travel bedside bassinet. they only offered me $32 and wouldn't take one of the mattresses. The bassinet alone is worth more than $150 but since I had to wait three hours and I drove 45 minutes to this location with two kids I just took their offer. They're only getting one star because they had really cool croc charms that my son loved. The girls in there come off stuck up and rude. Don't even waste your time here. If anything make the drive to the Scottsdale location. I got a higher offer on a baby swing that was worth less than the bassinet there. read more

What an AMAZING experience! I sent a message through a Ad to find out if they had any walkers in stock before I headed to the store. It was about 7am and figured I would hear back sometime in the next few hours when the store opened. NOPE, I received a message back saying they did have some walkers and they would be happy to send me some pictures as soon as the store opened. I received a picture message showing what they had and was asked if I wanted one held for me. YES, yes I did! I sent my husband to go purchase the walker for me. He came home and said how nice and helpful "this man" was that helped him and that the store was FULL of stuff. That was it, I needed to see for myself who was behind this AMAZING customer service was. I went there! I met "this man". His name is Gabriel, the owner. What a great guy! I had a short laundry list of things I needed and he walked around the store and showed me where to find everything. One of the items wasn't anywhere to be found. Gabriel says, I think I have one in the back, let me go look. YEP he did, and marked the price at 1/10th of what I would have paid for it new. BARGIN! They have EVERYTHING and the prices, well, they are cheaper than the goodwill and in much better condition. Pleasantly surprised by this establishment. Great variety of clothing and baby essentials. We went to get a play mat with hanging toys for a new grand baby to be used at our home. We found a few that would work but opted for the more gender neutral colored one. What surprised me was cost! It was way less that I would have expected and in perfect condition. As I'm a germophobe, I disassembled the playmat, washed it and the fabric toys in the washer and it is perfect. The young ladies working were very helpful and pleasant, even though they ware busy as heck unloading merchandise. I like this store because it is huge and has a great selection of items. The toy section looks pretty destroyed like most used kids stores but it is large. The prices are usually great and you can find some awesome deals from time to time. My star rating comes from the staff. They are are young. They do the buying and I can hear them talk about the clothes people bring in and sometimes they have no clue what they are looking at. I've never sold to them before but I don't think I would want to. The staff is also not the friendliest. The staff do not greet customers or say anything to you. I literally did an entire purchase without a single word except the total. I also don't appreciate that they take their mask off and put it down unless a customer walks up. Masks are contaminated and the virus lasts on cloth masks for up to 2 days. They are constantly playing with them. Contamination everywhere!! I'm a medical professional and this concerns me. I'm not sure I will be back again for a long time because of this. Hopefully things will change. read more

Their prices are extremely reasonable and I appreciate the cash out value of items when selling to them! They always have a variety of toys, equipment, and kiddos clothes in all sizes and I really like the games they get for kids too. I've found some really nice kiddo shoes for a bargain also. My baby girl needed new clothes & I had various people recommend this place to me. I love shopping on a budget & their prices were just what I was looking for. I've been trying to piece together everything we need on OfferUp and Marketplace, but it was so tedious band we were having terrible luck when I stumbled on this place. I found almost everything I was looking for, so much easier than driving around to peoples houses hoping things actually pan out. I got all the clothes we need to start off, including a cute first picture outfit and little tutus. Plus a few other items I'd been looking at for twice as much online, a fold up changing pad and portable infant sleeper. I'll definitely be going back for a bouncer when we need one, they had some good ones. Everyone was wearing masks when I was there, there were plastic dividers and hand sanitizer everywhere. RE: this was before masks were mandated. As much as you'd like to blame it on a face covering neither one of staff were wearing any. Ever step foot in a store and to see the back of an employee walking away from you? They must be busy... I thought to myself, but it's Wednesday at noon, with no other clients in the shop. That one person must be having a bad day... nope walked by their register with two of them chatting, I smiled at them after making a loop around the store, with no acknowledgement or hello from either. I decided to visit after the overwhelming positive reviews. ISO strollers, baby swings, and junk for my baby on the way. The strollers were used in decent condition but visibly dirty. A good amount of selections of appliances but price are a bit more than I'd like to pay for dirty second-hand equipment. For the price tag, I'd rather pay slightly more for new gear. Good prices on children's books and toys though. Perhaps I would recommend the OUAC when in immediate need for things, otherwise... marketplace all the way. When your little sprout outsprouts their tiny little onesies, socks, and swaddles, it's time to pay a visit to the resale store. I had a few bags of clothes and a baby rocker to sell. You have the option of waiting in store or receiving a text from them when your items have been sorted through. It took maybe 20-30 minutes for them to look through my items. They took most of them, but did not take the rocker I had because of some staining they claimed, although I have yet to determine where this mystery stain would be. Also note that unlike some other resale stores, they do not take maternity clothes. They'll give you one price for all the items they'll take (i.e., no itemized pricing). I thought it was a fair amount I was receiving and I got cash for the clothes. With their convenient location in the Sprouts shopping plaza, I predict a lot of browsing for goods, as well as more selling in the future for me. read more

I love the Once Upon a Child Tempe! The store is owner operated and he truly cares for each and every customer coming into the store. Literally, helping me load and unload while I try and keep up with my 2 year old daughter. It is not just shopping at this store, it is a wonderful experience. Every time I have paid them a visit they take most of my unwanted, outgrown children's clothing and I always leave with gently used, name brand, great quality clothes. I bought a pair of new Issac Mizrahi slacks for my son (6) for $5. Unreal! I would pay more at Target. I have shopped other kids resale stores in the area and this one has the best deals hands down! read more

I've been buying/trading there since they've opened and he's always been extremely helpful in reminding me of the deals they have or finding product but recently I had dropped some stuff off to sell and they texted to let me know it was complete. Unfortunately I had Covid and wasn't going to be back to pick up my stuff in a reasonable time so I called the store and spoke to the manager and he said it was no problem and they would hold it until I could come in. A little while later I got a text from him asking if there was anything I needed during this difficult time of having Covid and having kids. That was over and beyond thoughtful. This place is awful when it comes to trying to sell clothes and baby items to them. For instance, I dropped off items to them and they claimed they texted me to tell me they couldn't use any of the items (which they never did), and when I went back to check on the status of the items they said they donated them! Basically they lied to me and then took my clothes and sold them without paying me for them. I've tried selling items to them since and the customer service is absolutely awful. Very unfriendly and they act like you are inconveniencing them. Would not recommend to anyone! read more

FTM- I absolutely love the Tempe location because when you first walk in the store, everyone greets you and the store smells clean not like a used clothing store! I have been to the Oceanside,Ca/Gilbert,AZ locations and by far Tempe has the best store, selection of items and customer service! Today I came in with my mom, we were looking in the toy area at these balls (for a ball pit) that was on the tallest shelf in the very back. I went and asked the gentleman at the check out counter (which I later found out is the owner of the store, Gabby) to help me get the bags and the ball pit on the shelf. He was very nice and dropped everything he was doing to help me, greeted me and congratulated me on my pregnancy (I am 7 months pregnant and he asked if it was my first) he was so nice! When he grabbed the bags and ball pit down for me (a total of 4 items) only one of them had a price on them and he made us an extremely great deal! THANK YOU GABBY! He also went and grabbed us another cart as we had filled our first one, which I thought was very nice, he then offered to take our loaded cart to the front so we didn't have to push two carts around! And as we filled our second cart up we came to the front of the store where the book section is (very great clean/organized selection of books btw) and he saw us looking at the books and brought my mom and I both a chair to sit in while we looked! How awesome right! Btw we spent about 20 mins just looking at books so the chairs were very nice to be able to sit:)! Thank you so much Gabby for helping us out and having nice conversations with us for feed back on toys and different activity's for my baby when he gets older as my husband and I are new to the area! My husband is a Marine and we moving to AZ so it was very helpful hearing different things around town to do for kids! Also on top of having exceptional customer service, Gabby gave us a military discount! Thank you again! And to top things off, we forgot one of toys we asked Gabby to set aside for us that wouldn't fit in the cart to set up front; he called me from my rewards number to say we forgot it and he would set it aside for us! We came back since we were only two miles down the road and I absolutely had to have the toy he gave us a huge discount because he forgot to ring it up in our purchase and we came back! So not only did he look out for us by calling me back, he also took full responsibility for forgetting to ring it up in the first place when we all laughed about because we forgot too! He also threw in for free a little beanie baby for my son! This location is clean, very well organized and everything we looked at was all in top top condition! I came in today with high hope because I usually go to kid to kid. I saw so many good reviews but I didn't have the best experience. I was here when it open 2nd person to check in. I was told it'd be an hour. I get a text to come back in. When I come in they didn't even check my full order only the 3 toys I had brought in. I'm guessing he was the manager or owner who took my stuff In the first place. They need to get a better system. I've only been once, but my experience was overall pretty good. I didn't find what I was looking for and I did notice that many of the larger items such as swings and bassinets looked rather worn, but the clothing looked pretty decent. I did appreciate that they had a promotional offer so I was able to take score a few unexpected goodies. The service was okay when I got to the register, but I didn't have any assistance prior to checking out which made my shopping experience a little difficult. Don't come here to sell your clothes. They are ALWAYS not accepting my clothes for the dumbest reasons. I shop at places like Target or TJ Max & they still don't accept my perfectly good clothes. What a great shop! I've been to the Scottsdale location and their customer service is so underwhelming. However, when I come to the Tempe location on Southern Ave, I am greeted with a smile and a hello. The employees seem like they are happy to be of service. The owner/manager is always so helpful; he goes above and beyond to make sure you enjoy your selling/shopping experience and that you get the most bang for your buck. Honestly, I live in Scottsdale, but their service is so poor I prefer driving out of the way to visit this awesome shop! I always am able to sell about $30-40 worth of stuff, and then get to buy a bunch more great stuff with the store credit, which they give you 20% off on when you use it. I really don't buy my son clothes anywhere else unless I'm in a pinch and need something convenient and quick from Amazon. Check this place out! read more
