If you're into vintage clothing and shoes, this is a good spot to check out, although parking out front is limited (parking in back available). One of the draws that should bring you here is the fact that there are 3 other businesses within the immediate area of similar persuasion. You have the Leopard Lounge next door which also features vintage clothing and across the street you'll find Out of the Closet Thrift store. Around the corner you'll find Lo-Fi, which is also a clothing store. This place caters almost exclusively to clothing, shoes, accessories and to a lesser degree, jewelry. They do take walk-ins when it comes to them purchasing your vintage clothing items, unlike the leopard lounge next-door. Keep in mind, you're probably not gonna get nearly as much as you think you will (I know we didn't). They'll offer you a cash or store credit option. It's also very likely you may be waiting in line to be seen, but they have some chairs by the entrance. If you find something you like, they have lots of dressing rooms to try things on. Prices are reasonable, but don't expect thrift store pricing.

Go through your closet!

Austin is lucky to have such a nice Buffalo Exchange. My wife likes to stop by clothing consignment shops when we are traveling, and this Austin location is one of the better Buffalo Exchanges we have been to. It is very large inside, providing shoppers elbow room to go through the various items at their leisure. It is also well organized, with racks dedicated to both men's and women's clothing. Old, worn T-shirts were big here, but one can find designer brands for decent prices. They seemed well-staffed (checkout, trade-ins, and dressing rooms had dedicated people). Found a nice Vince men's sweater. There are also plenty of comfortable chairs and benches for companions to wait. It was comfortable inside and wasn't musty at all. And there is a good amount of close parking in the lot as well.

Racks - Multiple clothing racks filled with casual, vintage, and colorful garments are arranged inside a resale store. Customers are browsing and examining the clothing, with some holding items. The store has a ceiling with fluorescent lights and ceiling fans, and the floor is made of dark, textured material. The background shows shelves with bags and other accessories, indicating a secondhand fashion retail environment.

The workers were so incredibly rude! I would rate this 0 stars if I could. Please do not come here if you want a good time shopping. The selection was terrible as well.

Another pair, not my size - The image shows two pairs of cowboy boots placed on a metal shelf. The left pair is light brown with decorative stitching and metal studs along the top edge, with a price tag indicating $48. The right pair is darker brown with a simpler design, featuring a strap with metal rings around the ankle area. Both pairs are made of leather and appear to be used or vintage-style. The background includes a metal shelf and part of a retail environment.

My first time here. I was looking for two very specific things. I wanted a big Ol' cowgirl belt buckle. And I was looking for some cowgirl boots. I feel like this was more of an Austin hippie kind of feel. Some great things for sure. But I was on a mission to find those 2 specific things. I feel the prices were high, it's a thrift shop. I was expecting more thrift prices. Parking is tight. You basically have to back up into on coming traffic. If you're looking for "keep Austin weird" they have great stuff. Will I come back again, yup! Great place to browse around and find a treasure.

Store front - The image shows the exterior of Buffalo Exchange, a resale fashion store, with a colorful, patterned sign and large glass windows displaying merchandise. Several cars are parked in front of the store, including a silver sedan and a white van. A pole with signage and some pedestrians are also visible, indicating a busy urban shopping area. The sky is overcast.

This place is pretty awesome, it's normally a hotspot for my anxiety just because there's always a shit ton of people in there but there's usually some pretty good finds!!! The staff are pretty helpful if need be but I'd really like to hear a welcome in or a walk in greeting from time to time m, or even a goodbye, the customer service is lacking a little but I try to imagine that's just from how busy they always seem to be, overall it's a great shop

They're buying during the pandemic, but check their website for the new protocol

Buffalo Exchange is a nationwide clothing resale chain, but this is the only location in Austin. Its proximity to the University of Texas means that most of their clientele is college-age, but that group is augmented by older teen and just-out-of-college age customers, as well. My two have been buying and selling their hipster-wear here since high school and through their college years. Only funky-looking stuff will do for anyone who wants to be an original, and Buffalo Exchange complies. As some reviewers have noted, their inventory might not be exactly what you'd expect. Teen/young adult clothing tastes change rapidly, and their buying behavior is what drives the inventory here. A purchaser has said more than once, "These are/are not selling well right now." So keep that in mind if you're planning to bring in a pile of clothes to sell. You'll get more in store credit than cash, because they want you to turn around and buy more stuff. I award this Buffalo location 3-1/2 stars. If you're over 25, you will probably want to pick another thrift store in Austin. Their Coronavirus Times protocol is listed on their website, so please check before heading over to shop. You have to make an appointment to sell, and you can't stand there anymore while they go through your things. Currently, protective masks and appropriate distancing are required for everyone, both staff and customers. There were quite a few customers shopping last week, and fewer on the weekend when it was raining. Most arrive on foot, since they no doubt live nearby, and parking is very limited. If the front lot is full, you can check the "Buffalo Exchange Parking" marked lot in the alley behind the shop. Happy hunting.

In addition, you'll be able to find items from various eras as far back as the 30s through the 70s. I've seen some stuff there even older than the 30s. Everything is of exceptional quality and condition. Not only do they sell but they buy as well. If you've got vintage wear you'd like to get rid of, try them. They give cash or credit for things they'll buy from folks. As with most stores like this, you'll get more in store credit for your stuff. Fun fact: they've also got a location in Waco.

While all clothing is vintage, there are a few modern items such as journals. The store manager was super friendly and made me feel I was the only one in the store. This was the perfect spot for anyone who loves fashion with a bit of spice. Prices are in a rather broad range - from inexpensive amount to a bit pricey.

Garment is a sought-after designer vintage shop in Austin. Located on South Lamar, the shop offers a carefully curated collection of high quality women's vintage pieces. The selection embodies fashion forward vintage including well preserved and visually appealing garments. Garment has a boutique rather than a thrift shop persona. I like that clothing was loosely hung on the racks for ease of perusing the items. Bailey, the sales representative, was super patient and kind. She happily showed me anything I wished to see in the store particularly those pieces that were under lock and key. She also offered to reach out to a jewelry designer for different ring sizes...so kind of her. Garment Modern + Vintage is a great destination vintage aficionados and fashion enthusiasts.
