The burgers were AMAZINGGGGGG made fresh to order and beats all other burger competitors in my eyes!! The fries were also really good, i got the seasoned ones. The restaurant was nice and clean and i was serviced as soon as i walked in. There wasn't a long wait at all and they handled and placed my order with no problems. Will def be going again.
Ok burger 2nd time around, not as good as before and noticeably smaller. My first visit a few months ago was an easy 5 stars--everything was great. This most recent visit, however, was more of a 3-star experience. A-Ok. I hadn't been back in a while, but I happened to drive by and remembered how good it was last time, so I decided to give it another shot. The dining room was nearly empty, so it wasn't busy. They're currently offering a chili burger, but I was in the mood for something simpler and ordered the double spicy burger with jalapeños, grilled onions, and spicy sauce. I also asked if I could get extra raw onions, which they said was no problem. I ordered it to go, and when I opened it at home, I could immediately tell something was different. The burger was noticeably smaller than on my previous visit, and I didn't have hardly any raw onions. In fact, the grilled onions were pretty light as well. Another slight difference was the taste - it wasn't as flavorful as last time. The burger alone was $10, which makes the portion size more noticeable. The missing onions weren't a huge deal since I had some at home, but the size difference was disappointing. One of the main reasons I came back was because the burger previously felt generous and tasted great so it was worth the premium price. This time, that experience wasn't duplicated. So it's an ok burger, but the apparent shrinkage makes it harder to justify the price. I can't say I am as excited to rush back anytime soon like I was last time when I get another burger craving. Service here was attentive and alway polite, which is why I kept it 3-stars instead of 2-stars. I was greeted when I walked in, the register guy was very nice and helpful, and the others as well.
I love Buddy's! Glad they are near my office because they make a damn good smashed burger! The spicy with cheese and seasoned fries are the way to go! They make fresh lemonade that is amazing and have cheap beer on tap. Glad they have a drive through, but it gets long at lunch time! That's a good sign!
Good burger, great fries, delicious spicy Buddy sauce, and tasty Lemonade. Customer service 10/10. The young man was knowledgeable and friendly. He sold me on their homemade Lemonade and it was delicious. He suggested the mix of Strawberry and Mango and it did not disappoint. I ordered the seasoned fries and they were delicious! He also gave me a sample of their spicy sauce and it was the best!! We also tried the biscoff shake. It was a nice treat! I was hoping for the cookie on top like in the photo but it was still really good. I can't wait to return.
Buddy's Burgers took me straight back to my childhood. Buddy's Burgers are the hamburgers that restaurants used to take the time out to make back in the day, and don't anymore. Plus, they have draft beer on the menu. I'm sure some of you remember back in our childhood when most of our dads and their friends had hamburgers with beer. Well, the outside caught my attention, and I did a quick turnaround. It was nighttime, and I saw the lights and the hamburger sign all lit up. I went inside, and the menu was simple, the way I like it. That tells you they know how to make a good hamburger. It also says that they don't need to add a zillion hamburger names to the menu to get you curious enough to try one. I ordered the Double Classic with cheese, which comes with pepper jack cheese, lettuce, tomato, grilled onions, jalapenos, and Buddy's Spicy Smack Sauce. Now, to tell you that they know how to make a burger, they did not pile on the lettuce, tomatoes, etc. I also like that the jalapeno was chopped into little fine pieces, and with the spicy Smack sauce and the pepper jack cheese, it made a nice combination of spice and savory. On top of that flavor, the meat was well seasoned and cooked to perfection. I like that it was not a round burger; it was a real hamburger with jagged edges. I actually ate the whole burger right there. I thought that because of its size, I would have some to take home later, but I did not. It's really a great old-fashioned burger place. The fries were the same, made the old-fashioned way. I dipped them in the buddy smack sauce and ketchup, which was very good. Oh, and you can get the fries regular or spicy! Oh, and I must add that the staff is very friendly!
We were greeted as soon as we walked in by the nicest woman ever, Richa. It only got better from there. The service was phenomenal, the food was even better!! Do yourself a favor and get a double classic with pepper jack cheese. Make sure you add pickles and don't you dare forget the seasoned fried. I will be coming back. It was such an amazing burger and amazing experience.
Kind of a scam, we paid $30 for 2 burgers, 1 fry, 1 fountain drink, and 1 shake. Guy at the counter didn't say that the Cajun seasoning was an extra cost?? Just asked if I wanted salted or Cajun seasoning on the fries. Got one piece of bacon on my burger AND the burger had absolutely NO salt on it. Just a hunk of plain meat. Don't know why this place has such good reviews.. it was probably the worst burger I've had.
Came here after work for dinner and ordered the double classic burger with seasoned fries and a mango lemonade. Right when I walked in all of the workers welcomed me. There was no wait and I appreciated that they had different lemonade flavors and shakes. When I got my food it was hot. The burger was tasty how ever the bun was a bit thin making it messy to eat. The fries were good however a bit too seasoned for my liking. I also enjoyed my mango lemonade. The price for everything was about $15. There is also a parking lot as well.
This is definitely one of my favorite spots to get my burger fix. Coming here always gives me that cheesy juicy burger rush of endorphins. They still have the right formula and it's quite obvious if you come around lunchtime and trying to find a place to park. Once inside the noise level can be fairly high due to all the patrons. They've got a few new things going on that I did not see before such as a self ordering kiosk. I noticed that for a limited time they are offering the Franklin burger featuring Franklin barbecue sauce. It's possible they be running these burger specials from time to time. For the most part, everything in my previous review still remains the same, including the fact they do not offer onion rings. read more
After hearing all the hype I had to see what Buddy's was about. On recent work trip in ATX, I was able to stop in during the lunch rush, however wait til wasn't bad. I went with the double smashburger and fries, though I was unimpressed. Flavor wise it was decently seasoned, however for a smashburger it wasn't giving the juiciness I expected. Size wise, they're fairly average. Highlight of the meal though were the seasoning used on the fries. Those babies was hitting! Overall, Buddy's was okay. I'd say if you're a burger connoisseur don't expect the extraordinary.! read more
I've found a new go to place for a burger! It is delicious. They make it fresh too so it can take longer than a typical fast food joint to get your food. The lemonades are great and I love love love that you get free refills with them. It's pricier than say, P Terrys, but I think it's a better product than P Terrys (not a knock on P Terry's which I love). Basically if you want higher quality at a pricier total than go to Buddy's. If you wanna save a bit and still enjoy a good meal do P Terry's. But I'll be frequenting Buddy's a lot more in the future. The fries and shakes are good too. read more
Yum! Came in around 1ish on a Friday. Very busy but plenty of inside seating. Paid around $33 for Texan melt combo and Spicy cheeseburger combo. The Mexican vanilla shake is PHENOMENAL it's the best shake I have EVER had. The burgers were flavorful and the seasoning on the fries was great. There is a drive thru option as well. read more

Walked in and was welcomed by everyone saying welcome in. That was really nice. Same when I left, everyone yelled thanks for coming. Food was ready quickly and the restaurant area was clean. Burger was huge and tasted really good! I love the shredded lettuce and the strawberry lemonade is amazing! If you haven't tried Buddys definitely go try them. read more

Used the drive thru but could see the lines inside and tables full. A very popular place for very good reasons. I got the monthly special of the "Franklin" burger. Not on the regular menu. Let me tell you - absolutely delicious. The right amount of everything sauces, spices, cheese. Just everything. The drive thru attendant was SO friendly! Small place NOT to be missed. read more

Stopped in on our way back from San Antonio, and had a great experience. We were greeted as soon as we came in. This place has excellent customer service, there was a very friendly cashier named Micheal. He made excellent recommendations and made friendly small talk. We felt very welcomed. The food was great. The burgers are a bit on the smaller side. The seasoned fries were a hit. I was trying to think of what the seasoning reminds me of, and finally remembered. It's similar to the seasoning on the bbq Fritos. Not too seasoned, it was just right. The mango lemonade was recommended by Micheal, and he was right, best lemonade. The place is very clean. TL/DR - Can I put this at the beginning of a review? Whatever. Get the Double Spicy w Cheese, seasoned fries and a mango lemonade. This is the way. "What in the world is a Buddy's Burger and what's so great about it?" I asked my fellow foodie who wouldn't shut up about this place. Understanding that no words were going to convince me, he stops, but the words linger on my mind for months. So I slap Buddy's on my list of restaurants to try on my lil weekend foodcationing in Austin. I love the menu - small and simple. Easy to make a decision. All burgs made with never frozen 100% angus. I got the whole she-bang: Double Spicy with Cheese (two patties, pepper jack cheese, lettuce, tomato's, jalapeños, Buddy's Spicy Smack Sauce), seasoned fries, 24 oz mango lemonade (made with fresh squeezed lemons) and 16 oz Mexican vanilla milkshake. Mr. Fellow Foodie did not lie. God, this burger was a gift from Him himself. It was exquisite. Heaps of jalapeños that were actually spicy stuffed between juicy, fresh patties. Reminded me of Freddy's Steakburgers but way, way, WAY better. The fries were delicious, whatever seasoning they got on them is incredible. The lemonade was a sugar bomb, but like, I'm not about feeling guilty over some extra glucose when I'm inhaling a double patty. The mango flavor was so good! On top of that, the milkshake was awesome - thick, creamy and rich. Needless to say, I was absolutely stuffed after eating enough for two (tiny tummy) and I'm a stickler over overeating, but everything was just too. damn. good. to stop. This is definitely one of the best drive thru burger joints I've ever visited, and I've eaten lots of burgers from lots of places. Like, A LOT. Soooo delicious!!! The seasoned fries were so good and perfectly crispy, better than the regular ones. The burgers were juicy and hit the spot. I ordered with Ricardo and he was incredible. This was our first time at buddy's and he walked us through everything so patiently and even let us sample the seasoned fries while we were still deciding. Makayla served our food and made our shakes and she was so incredibly professional and so nice to chat with. We'll definitely be back. Can't recommend enough!! read more

You should definitely smash and not pass on Buddy's smash burgers! This is my second time ordering. The first time was through the drive thru. The quality of the burger is the same. I ordered the sauce but did not need it. ! The burger bun is very soft and is the perfect size for the patty. The burger toppings are not super thick and they do well on this burger. The pattie was allowed to be the star of the burger. The pattie was seasoned sooo well. This is what sets Buddy's apart in my opinion. A well seasoned pattie isn't easy to come by! This is a TRUE smash burger because it is simple to eat, truly smashed pattie, and the toppings are not so easy to be detected while eating. The house fries were good, I didn't need ketchup. YUM!! A true Austin staple, cannot believe we haven't made it up here before. Buddy's is truly one of the best "fast food" burgers I've had. More affordable than 5 guys but still excellent quality ingredients. The SAUCE!! So good. The fries are crisp. Next time we MUST try the lemonade and the shakes - they look amazing. Located in an inconspicuous part of town, easy parking with a cool interior, or you have the option to drive thru. Go grab you a buddy's burger! read more
Since my original review, I have come back several times with others and gotten the spicy with cheese. It's now one of my fav smash burgers, and definitely beats shack shack in terms of value and taste. In-N-Out is still my fav but they are not smash burgers so different burger categories. The fries here are actually really good, better than the two other restaurants mentioned above. Lastly, I have tried the chocolate shake and it was very unique with a cinnamon flavor. I really enjoyed it. Check your order to make sure it's correct as they got it wrong today. read more

Drive a little further, where you'll find Buddy's, a hidden gem in Austin that demands to be discovered! There are four straightforward options for burgers at Buddy's--do you want your burger mild or spicy, and do you want one paddy or two? Personally, I swear by the #2--The Spicy Burger (single paddy). For spice lovers, this is actually far from spicy, but packed with flavor. The Spicy Burger comes with pepper jack cheese, shredded lettuce, tomatoes, grilled onions, jalapeños, and Buddy's signature spicy smack sauce. I absolutely love how the grilled, minced onions & jalapeños are married together and are melted in with the sauce and cheese. Every bite bursts with vibrant flavor. And the best part? All this deliciousness comes at less than $5! To make it a meal, only $15, WHAT A STEAL. TLDR; Buddy's not only a culinary delight but also a budget-friendly option that doesn't compromise on quality. 5/5 make the drive, you'll thank me later. LOCATION: I personally enjoy the San Marcos better, as it's a stand alone location with ample parking, more spacing, quieter, and cleaner! The northeast location is packed with locals, shares parking with the nearby gas station and restaurants, and is overall more crowded and difficult to navigate once inside. Absolutely delicious burgers and fries - don't sleep on this place! I've seen this place featured on social media and this is definitely worth the rave reviews. When they say seasoned fries, these fries are SEASONED (in the absolute best way). Flavor packed and fried to perfection - these were finished quickly. Get these, trust me. We also ordered the Buddy's spicy with cheese and the double classic with cheese. I was highly tempted to order the limited time texan patty melt but I wanted to try the double given this was our first try of Buddy's. The Buddy's spicy was actually spicy (my husband is from Louisiana so he knows spicy food) and so that pleasantly surprised us - I'm normally let down by promises of spicy when it comes to restaurants. So keep this in mind if you want to go the Buddy's spicy route. And I loved my double classic with cheese! Both burgers were juicy, packed with flavor, and everything fresh. The wait in the drive thru line was atrocious, it took about 30 min waiting to finally get our order. Dining in also looked very packed with every table taken and a lengthy line. But it was around the dinner rush (6:30pm) so that's understandable. Perhaps aim to get here earlier than you usually would to avoid the wait. read more
I'm torn on this review because the burgers were amazing but the fries were a letdown and the shake was not good. We tried both the regular double with cheese and the spicy double with cheese and both were amazing. The meat was cooked perfect and had great flavor. It was one of the best fast food/diner burgers out there and the price is not bad. The fries were oily and didn't have the best flavor. Even the seasoned fries were a letdown. The chocolate shake tasted unlike chocolate (as if it was imitation chocolate) and the cheesecake was vanilla blended with cream cheese (underwhelming). I would take a burger any day but skip everything else. read more

been here about 5x since my last visit and it is still one of my favorite fast burger joints! glad to see it is starting to get the recognition they deserve. I came to try the limited Franklin BBQ burger in October. So glad they have extended it for the full month because I was itching to try it. It did not disappoint. The flavor was insane. The meat had a little crisp to it and the cheese was just the right amount. The mango lemonade is sweet and tart which I am not normally a fan of, but they do it right here and I get it every time. I always get their seasoned fries too. Not a big fry person, but this seasoning makes them a must. Love buddys! It's still just as good when you take it to go. Now open a location in Manor, we need a good burger joint out here, there currently isn't one. read more
