Just ate here for lunch today. It's definitely a cool Experience. All kinds of Buckeye stuff throughout train. We had the pizza burger with fries and side of onion rings. The pizza burger and onion rings were great. They tasted hot and good. The fries were soggy and not crisp. The service we had was great.

Neat place. The food is really good. Large portions. My husband and I could have split an item. People very friendly and attentive. Our waitress was amazing. Recommend.

Food is good! Family friendly and good service. A little pricy but it's quality and a lot of fries with the burgers and sandwiches. Thick fried bologna, fresh handmade chicken salad, and fresh hand pressed burgers are the way they do it here. Awesome train conversion to a diner adorned with football memorabilia throughout. Most The Ohio State University, but also Ohio U Bobcats, and Cleveland Browns represented. It's like someone needed a place to store their collection and decided to open an awesome train restaurant to put it in. Outside is a play zone and all kinds of old west scenes surrounding the area. Captivated by the layout and decor, but don't touch display items. Absolutely worth checking out. Only issue right now is figuring how to get up there. Take the first road to the left of the building that look like a non paved construction access road up the hill. Can't wait to pass through again to try something else on the menu!

This place stays busy! The food was excellent. I had the 4 cheese grilled cheese and it was SO cheesy and delicious! The fries are hand cut and were really good. They have outside picnic tables and a kids area to play in. This is a must stop!!!

Awesome Diner in a train car with a great view. The patty melt was delicious and the French fries amazing! Service was friendly. You place your order then find a seat and a server brings your food. Lots of OSU paraphernalia all over! Hubby ordered a hamburger with special sauce and really enjoyed it.

We got there when they first opened and there was already a line. It was worth the wait. We had fried pickles, a philly cheesesteak basket, mushroom burger basket, and the shrimp basket. They were all delicious! The fries were fresh cut like fair fries. The service was fast and friendly. Eating in the train car was a neat experience, but it was very crowded. The restraunt was clean and so were the restrooms. I would hands down recommend the philly!

Interesting little place. I've always wondered what it was like. You pay upfront and they deliver your meals to your table. The seating area, as well we the entire restaurant, is modeled after rail cars. At first I wasn't too sure of it, but decided to give them a go. The twin mini cheeseburgers were actually fair sized with a huge order of fries! That was more than enough more wife to split with their side salad. It was delicious!! Thank you!

We stopped by on an afternoon drive and we're surprised by the quality of the food. We also enjoyed the old train ambiance.

Well, look like a house, not really a building Went inside, the place is not busy, there is a bar seating, the girl in the bar is very nice, very friendly I seated, the menu has burgers, pasta, steak, typical American restaurant menu, nothing special I ordered the Fettuccine Alfredo, I know, in American restaurant? lol Well, I want some noodle, I think is $14, added grill chicken for another $6 When it come out, the portion is very small, very disappointed, even the chicken is small, very dry Overall, the food I'm giving 3 out of 10, service is great If you in the area, you should order the burger, they probably do better job

Service was fantastic. They were very accommodating and were able to provide my nephew with a high chair. Ambiance was very neat. Eating and having a nice view of the golf course feels very swanky for little ol' Mansfield, OH. I would happily come back as everything on their normal menu looks great!

"Fried Bologna, World Affairs, and One Legendary Brad"…read more Longer review but wanted to share. Traveling through central Ohio, I decided to detour for something unique--and landed at Homestead Family Restaurant in Fredericktown. I walked in around 7:30 AM and immediately spotted a table of 8-10 older gentlemen who looked like they were actively solving the world's problems. (Global warming? Inflation? Or just the eternal question of whether the Buckeyes will ever win big--hard to say.) The place oozes classic small-town America charm. I parked myself at the big U-shaped counter, and before I could even think about coffee, a hot cup appeared in front of me. Service here is fast, friendly, and so welcoming it feels like they've known you for years--even if you just rolled in off the road. The menu had those retro comfort food gems you rarely see anymore. And there it was: Fried Bologna Omelet. Pennsylvania has scrapple. Hawaii has Spam. Southern Ohio has Goetta. Central Ohio? Central Ohio proudly waves the fried bologna flag. I ordered the Bologna Omelet with fried potatoes, plus a biscuit with sausage gravy (because if you say no to sausage gravy here, you'll probably get escorted out). The food was very good. Potatoes could've used a little more time in the pan (maybe par-boiling first), but hey--still plenty tasty. For the "tribe," I grabbed: Breakfast Bowl (potatoes, eggs, American cheese, topped with sausage gravy--basically edible joy). Sausage Biscuits and Gravy (aka, double-down on gravy, because life is short). Everything hit the spot. The place is neat, the food hearty, and the service top-notch. But here's what really made the stop unforgettable: Brad. Brad is a local legend and was celebrating his birthday that morning. He sat next to me, gave me the lowdown on the town, and greeted everyone like the unofficial mayor of Fredericktown. The entire restaurant seemed to be there for him. Brad is a kind, gentle soul--the kind of person who makes you think, "You know what? This world really does need more Brads." Final Thought: Homestead Family Restaurant isn't just about good food (though the fried bologna omelet and sausage biscuit & gravy are worth the trip). It's about community, character, and the people who make small towns special. If you're in the area, stop by. Even if you're not hungry, you might meet Brad--and trust me, that's better than dessert.
