First dining experience here. My in laws took me to have some great steaks! Food was 5 stars. However I should have just ordered a beer here this place didn't execute my cocktail well. Visited this restaurant for the first time on Father's Day with my wonderful dad. He chose this place because it's one his favorite restaurants in the town that he lives. It's an older restaurant so the decor was old, dated, and uncomfortable. However the food I have to say was pretty tasty, which was the best part. The service was extremely slow because of the holiday, but they also messed up by not submitting our order into the electronic system correctly so we ended up waiting longer for our food to be prepared after they figured out the error. They discounted the bill by $10 which I felt should have been $20 for as long as we waited. But it is what it is. I would carry order from here again but it would definitely be carry out instead as I didn't enjoy the dine-in experience at all. read more

I've reviewed this place in the past and had excellent service and excellent food. But I feel it's time for an update. The last couple times I have eaten here. Food has been subpar and the service is getting worse last time on December 12. I ordered a medium steak. It came out basically raw I would have said something to server, but the next time I saw the server is when she gave us our check Not sure what's going on there, but things are falling apart even the light above our table caught my eye as extremely dirty. Next time you're there take a look. With so many steakhouses around us, I think it's about time I start looking somewhere else since they seem to not care about quality anymore. read more

March 26, 2026 We have been going to this restaurant since the 1980's and have always loved it. Back when the tall thin guy named Mike was a manager and always came around and asked everyone if the food and service was ok. The food was always good, the rolls were fabulous and the salads were big and fresh with a variety of items in it. However, it it not the same place as before. The steak I received was like rubber not like any "steak" I have ever eaten before. The salad was watery with wilted, browning lettuce, (mostly the ribs from the lettuce). 2 small tomato slices and 2 1/2 inch slices of previously frozen cucumber. I mentioned it to the server Sadie who said, "I'll let the manager know." The rolls were more like brick hard drop biscuits rather than yeast rolls. The only thing edible was the baked potato. We never saw a manager. We will never go back to Brown Derby Roadhouse again! Over $50 for inedible food and 2 ice teas. Shame on you Roadhouse! The quality is in the doghouse! read more

We sat down to dinner at 8:30 PM. The restaurant closed at 9 PM. Everyone seemed very busy to get the restaurant cleaned up and things done so that they could all leave. We asked for ranch for salad dressing. We got their house Italian. My husband ordered a medium well New York strip and I ordered a 10 ounce ribeye medium with mushrooms and onions. He got his steak medium, and I got my steak medium well which we both hated. The mushrooms and onions were not grilled. They appeared to be steamed or microwaved the server claimed to have checked on us, but it was when she sat down the A1 sauce on the table to check with us. I had not even cut into my steak yet to see how it was cooked. She did not come back for a good 10 to 15 minutes. Needless to say I had salad with the wrong dressing and a very good baked potato with butter and sour cream that was the best part of the meal. I had not been to this restaurant in at least 10 years. It will be at least another 10 before I even think about going back. Of note we never saw a manager once for the entire stay. The server just said "oh sorry about that, do you want a box?" The service and food here has really taken a downward dive in the last several years. Subsequently, we have visited less and less due to that. Most recently we thought we would give it another try, and we did. Unfortunately we experienced the same things- poor service, hostess gossiping, wait staff cussing and talking about the seated customers. The food came out wrong and the waiter never refilled drinks or checked on us. It is really unfortunate, but like everyplace else it never stays great. First, i thought these places died out like ponderosa. Which may mean those steakhouses are still out there, who knows? Stepping in here is like going into a Time Machine in a good way: the food is plentiful and reasonably priced. This plate was north of $20 but only because of added bits like the mushroom and onions which completely cover the 8oz steak underneath. The atmosphere is covered with old decor but it's pretty tasteful and fits the theme. Okay, so what about the food? Well you get the salad and rolls with any meal. The salad is drenched in dressing, but it's also not overpowering. It just works, even if i feel like it shouldn't. The bread balances it out as it's soft but also a bit bland, it just helps even out the taste. The food is great, but also oddly sweet (use of rosemary?) which will be a hit or miss for some people. The mushrooms were very strong in that with this in mind. The servers aren't too bad, but more than once our guy left after asking to not reappear again for several minutes. Maybe there was something going on I couldn't see. Also they forgot minor things like butter for the baked potato that was easily fixed. Went here on a weekday night. My family had gone twice before, but this was my first time. Be warned there isn't much for a vegetarian and nothing for a vegan, but it's a steakhouse so no surprise there. The normal dinners on the back of the menu are served with salad, rolls with honey butter, and a choice of potato. I had a portobello mushroom sandwhich with mushrooms, but stole some salad and bread from my family. Be aware the salad comes with bacon normally. The sandwhich and fries needed some seasoning in my opinion. I ended up taking half home so I'll try playing around with seasoning on the burger. The fries had some seasoning, but not much. My family liked their steak and potatoes. One liked his portobello chicken while another felt his was very chewy and rubbery so he didn't finish it. The decor is kind of like a bar, and there is an actual bar as well. Servoce was good with a friendly server, good times, and lots of parking. Overall it was a nice night out. read more

I stopped in with family for dinner last Wednesday, 29Mar23 ~1640. There were a few tables seated, but not many. I guess all of the restaurants on Lex-Springmill has taken a chunk of their business over the years. We have not visited for 5-6 years as we have been living in SoCal till this January. Walking in and looking around, all look great! No dirty tables, clean floors...just what you want to see! Betty was our server. A wonderful personality who made our visit 4 stars instead of 3! We ordered adult beverages and their Fried Pickles as a starter. Though I was disappointed that they did not carry Knob Creek, the Fried Pickles more than made up for it! Eight pickle quarters fried in a tempura batter that were absolutely delicious! Highly recommended! We ordered our main courses. Two pork chops, filet mignon, and NY Strip. My Mom and her partner had the pork chops with sweet potatoes. They enjoyed their dishes without a complaint. My NY Strip was more rare than medium-rare but I do not have issue with that. My wife's medium-well filet was a different story. It was actually rarer than my steak. We pointed that out to Betty and off she went with my wife's steak. 17 minutes later my wife's steak came back. One half well done and the other half charred. Not sure if the cook was trying to tell us something or not. My wife was able to eat the well done half and left the rest. When the manager came by to ask us how dinner was, we told her in full detail. I was very happy that she took my wife's meal off the check! Thank you! Overall, it was an okay dinner with Betty and the comp making it better. I just think back to my time, in high school, grilling steaks at a local restaurant. It required a little skill but a high schooler was paid to do it. I may be mistaken l, but the person manning the grill seemed much older. We may be back to give them another shot. We went to Roadhouse with some friends this evening. I ordered the special and instead was presented with the cowboy steak, which was extremely hard to eat. We mentioned it was too tough to eat to one of our servers and he ignored our comment. I told another person that we ordered the special and instead we got something different. Looks like a roadside bar and grill however so much more. When you walk in there is so much to look at on the walls and rafters. Not only do they wood fire all of the steaks, you can choose your cut. This is my fourth time here. My sister took me out for my birthday and we had a great experience as always. I had the 22oz ribeye w/baked potato and salad. My sister had the t-bone, steamed vegetables and salad. Both steaks were cooked to perfection and the sides were also very good. We had the onion rings for an appetizer. After the onion rings and salad (which were huge) we could barely eat much of our entree. What I have eaten of it was so tender I barely needed a knife. I have waited to go here for a long time. I've made several trips but they were closed other times. This morning on Facebook I saw they had a 16 oz tone for 16.99. We decided to make the trip into Mansfield and went by. We ordered half an order of onion rings after seeing a whole order to another patron. We also got the 16oz tbone, baked potato, salad, and rolls. The wife got chicken,mushrooms, salad and fries. The fries were dead beyond saving. My steak was covered in soot from the grill leaving a horrible taste, so was her chicken. We have been there but I can say with almost certainty we won't be back. But maybe. Oh and lastly I ordered a medium cook. That was the rarest steak I have ever had. A steak house should know the difference and at least carry sharpened knives, these wouldn't cut my roll. read more

The Brown Derby Roadhouse was Awesome... Wifie and I saw it on our on our way up to Sandusky and decided to have dinner there on the way home. We got there around 3:30 and the place was already busy. There was about a half hour wait so we went and sat at the bar and a couple of tall bud lights. My only complaint of the whole evening was the bar tender was in a bad mood and was short with wifie. It took about 35 minutes to get a table which was fine. Our waiter was Mark and he was incredible. He suggested the cheese balls for an appitizer and they were definitely worth having... And the dipping sauce was out of this world combination. Worth driving up there for just the cheese balls. I ordered the cowboy cut steak which was 25 ounces. Wifie ordered the weekend special 16 ounce t bone. They meal comes with a salad which is a big bowl that we got to share (like olive garden does) which was really good we opted for the italian dressing. The rolls were rolls - nothing special there. When the steaks came out - OMG - that was one big chunk for meat... Very good prepared just the way I like it medium rare with grilled onions and mushrooms. AWESOME too much to eat in ons sitting though. Wifie's T bone was great also - she is not much of a steak person but you really can't get chicken at a steak place. All and all it was a great experience... It will be worth the drive to go back there in the future... Very pleased. read more

I've grown up going to the Brown Derby Road House. The cooking quality has seemed to go down a little bit as well as the friendliness of service. Steaks are flat out over cooked and the quality overall has diminished. My expectations aren't where the once were but it's not the worst choice.
