was a wonderful place for comfort food and sandwiches. the pies were wonderful. the people great. unfortunately it was sold and will be a diner soon. read more

Service is great, the pies are phenomenal but the food is just ok. We only tried the liver & onions (frankly the worst I've ever had) and the meatloaf though. The meatloaf and all the sides were very good just not fantastic. The pies however, especially the Kentucky derby are worth 5 stars. read more

This restaurant is amazing! "Never" a bad meal! All made homemade & the pies are phenomenal & "homemade!" If you go in to eat & don't get filled then you're not a big eater cuz you get very generous portions! Y'all better hurry & try if you haven't cuz they'll not be there much longer cuz Tracy is selling his lil gold mine! And for all you who like walleye you need to go for the "all you can eat" cuz it's the bestest you'll ever eat! It's not that thick dipped breading, it's a crispy breading that only Tracy can prepare to perfection! AUCE walleye is the bomb! Well, I hope you all won't delay cuz when he's gone all the goodness he prepares will be gone as well! I've eaten at other restaurants & none compared to the delishisness of this one! I'm saddened to hear they're selling! :( Good luck Tracy in the new door you'll be opening & the door of all the deliciousness you serve will be gone!! It's a sad goodbye to Carlyle's in Marion, Ohio! read more

Always Delicious Carlyle's is my "Go-To" restaurant while we have lived in Marion. My husband loves the walleye. I like the shrimp dinner and the BBQ ribs. The food is delicious and the staff is wonderful! This is the way a restaurant should be! read more

The chicken and fish tend to be really good and the rest is kind of bland. They do have daily specials and great pies. The dining area is very plain and simple. Chairs and tables laid out in efficient rows. The service is very hit or miss. read more

Finally made it to Carlyle's for lunch. Oh my goodness; what a great spot to eat. When you hear them hand pounding flat iron steaks, tenderloins, and chicken tenders you know you're in the right place! Enjoyed their scrumptious hand breaded crunchy onion rings. The hubs had delicious fried cod dinner with a salad and bean soup. I had a hand pounded breaded pork tenderloin sandwich, fully dressed on a toasted bun. With crunchy fries on the side. Our server was professional, friendly, and attentive without being intrusive. They're a busy spot but don't rush their customers at all. It's clean and tidy, unobtrusive in a small strip mall. They're open M-F from 11am-3pm. They do lunch and do it perfectly! read more

We were looking for a lunch spot in Marion that would be more interesting than the chains. We both ordered the special. Service was good and friendly. The food was also good. read more

Tracy the owner is super sweet and came out to check on his customer's. Top Notch, way to run a restaurant. Today I took my 3 year old in, he had the grilled cheese kids meal and I had the protein plate. I have to admit, because I just came from working out-ordering the protein plate just hit the spot and kept me honest on my goals. I loved the fact that was a choice, on their menu. Overall clean, very personable staff and great atmosphere and food. Thumbs up! Hey just popped back in and wow great service and hometown feel, and reasonably priced. read more

I've tried this place a couple of times now and I can attest it is probably about the best eating you are going to find in the small town of Marion. Better get there early though at lunch and find a seat as they fill up quickly. The waitresses all work hard to provide fast and friendly service and the food is amazing and well priced. This is a classic diner style food and so far everything I have tried is fantastic, especially the beets, oh my goodness the beets are amazing!! One word of caution though: do NOT get the iced tea, it's terrible and even the waitress admitted it was terrible. Other than that, this is the place to go. And last piece of advice - TRY THE PIE! It is about the best find you will stumble upon in Marion I can guarantee it. read more

This place is good and very good service I would recommend to go here definitely recommend

Stopped here because of all the reviews, they were right! Atmosphere is very much like a home town diner. Staff was friendly and waitress, Christina, was friendly and quick! The food was delicious! I had the crispy chicken salad, fresh chopped lettuce (not bagged salad) a real full boiled egg, cheese, tomatoes, cucumber.... It was so good! My husband had the cod sandwich with potato wand cole slaw... The salads were fresh and VERY HOMEMADE! The fish had a light and crispy coating and the fish itself was flaky, moist and again, delicious! We took a piece of pie to go, peach crumble, which was also homemade, I can tell the crust was not just a frozen crust and the filling was full of peaches! Was quite Tasty later on with a cup of coffee! Definitely stop if you are staying in or going through Marion at Lunch time!! read more

Listen. The service is awesome. They have the sweetest staff. the food will make you feel right at home and the pie will make not want to go home. It's great place to meet up with friends. read more

Love Carlyle's!!!! Always friendly, fast customer service. The food is consistently delicious, home-cooked food. Personal favorites of mine are the walleye, the summer chicken salad plate, the beef and noodles, creamed chicken and biscuits, the crispy chicken salad, onion rings and the Reuben. And you MUST end your meal with their homemade pie! I am a pie crust snob and theirs is just as amazing as my grandma's! This is hands down the best restaurant in Marion! read more

Passing through and wanted to find a local place. The staff was very friendly and food came out quickly. The patty melt was tasty and the onion rings yummy. The marinated chicken breast was moist. Smaller place so expect a wait during peak times. read more

This is an traditional American restaurant with great food and awesome service. The waitresses bent over backwards to help us and were really kind and friendly. We definitely will return when we are in the area. read more

Great local restaurant with very good food and staff. There are daily specials. The pie is always amazing.

Amazing home cooked meals and desserts. The wait staff is very friendly. The interior is small and it can get crowded but the wait is usually quick. FYI: They do not accept cards, cash only. read more

I love Carlyles! It is one of the most accessible restaurants in Marion for those with ambulatory difficulties. The daily specials are wonderful, and it's really one of the only places in Marion where you can get home-cooked carry-out. The last carry-out meal I ordered was so much food they put it in a box for us and two meals fed three of us with left-overs. Dining in and carry-out both earn five stars in my book. read more

They have very good food. They give large portions as well. I have enjoyed their Swiss steak, walleye, meatloaf and their fried bologna. I didn't care for the fried bologna but everything else I've had was great. read more

Owners are not supportive of other locally owned businesses. This comes someone who loves mom and pop businesses but unfortunately this is one mom and pop business I won't support. Sad when the owner has an employee tell you they can't help you and owner himself does not have the courage to tell me myself. read more

I ordered the walleye dinner and my husband had the baked steak. Both meals were absolutely delicious and very nice portion size. We then had a piece of pie for dessert and it was absolutely over-the-top delicious. I am an avid pie baker myself and I was looking for something that was going to be artificial on this pie and I was so surprised it was all homemade and absolutely scrumptious I couldn't have done a better job myself. I would wholeheartedly recommend this restaurant . read more

Love the food, love the staff, since they cut their hours I don't get there as often as I did before. Can't beat the pie, or the meatloaf.

I eat here at least once a week. It's my goto for good home-cooked comfort food. Always fresh and delicious. Super-friendly staff too.
