We visited this place on our way back to KY. Was a bit off the beaten path from the interstate. True to the "boondocks" theme as was definitely in the "Boonies" . However- I'm glad we came. Let's start with the Con as there is only minor things. The wait time to get our food was excessive. Took 45 mins to get our food for a family of 3. I think they may cook one table order at a time?? If we didn't have a 5 hour drive back home I wouldn't have been a big deal. The fries were crispy and fresh just need seasoning. Pros: Server was on top of things and very polite and welcoming. The food was DELICIOUS. The WINGS were cooked to absolute perfection. Huge wings and plentiful. Absolutely got your money's worth. The side salad was fresh and big. Stopped by for lunch. Decent option in a rural setting. More of a bar food menu than a home cooking place. Large open floor plan with nice bar set up, but no atmosphere for dining room. Very (and I do mean very) loud with speakers Amplifying the bar TVs into the open area. Service was average, asked for a couple follow ups after food was served. Waitress nodded, but never brought the requested items. Not sure if she forgot or just could not hear. Food was ok. I had the fried Halibut. Service - Outstanding - drinks were refilled and food was hot. Very attentive. Food - the food was good. Smoke pork Enchiladas we're cooked perfectly. They did ours chimichanga style. Went in for early dinner on a Saturday. Or wasn't too crazy when we got but by the time we left basically every table was full. The inside is very casual with a few booths and basic wooden tables and chairs. Decor is casual too - definitely bar meets family restaurant vibes. The servers were busy and a little slow at the end but we're doing their best with the crowd. I'll start by saying, for the most part, the food is very good there except for the brisket. They should really stop offering it as a special until they learn the proper way to cook it. They most disappointing and disturbing part of the whole ordeal was our server's total lack of hygiene and attentiveness. My wife was in the restroom when we ordered our drinks initially. My wife then ordered a margarita. it took nearly 25 minutes for her drink to appear and our waitress was MIA for most of that time. I finally spotted her on the porch taking a smoke break and hanging out in front of the restaurant. When she did come back in from her smoke break, she stopped at the bar to have a couple bites to eat off of what I am guessing was another coworker's plate. She then went on to serve multiple tables, including ours, never stopping to wash her hands. Its all out in the open there and we watched in amazement as she went right back to work after smoking and eating. Some of our entrees came out as appetizers and some of our appetizers came out with our entrees. Not surprisingly, my wife was up most of the night with food poisoning. To be fair I haven't gone recently, but my brother has gone a few times now and told me it was still bad so he finally stopped too. Four of us went out to eat and even though there was only one other table it took about an hour to receive our food. Nothing tasted very good and we all ended up with food poisoning that night so we haven't been back since. My son and I were out practicing his driving skills and decided to stop for an early dinner. They have signs warning you to park at your own risk- good to know. The inside is kind of cute and the tables are spaced out and the booths have plexiglas between them. Our waitress pulled her mask up when she came to our table but there was a 60ish waitress wandering all around with her's hanging from one ear and two men in the kitchen were in view talking without masks. Several customers came in without masks. I ordered the cowboy hamburger, which came on delicious Texas toast. I also ordered the breakfast potatoes which were amazing! My son's burger was on a buttered bun and he loved it. As we were getting ready to leave a small group came in with a very political man in a very political t-shirt. He walked around the bar area with his hands spread way out laughing as he pointed to his garment. A review on another source stated they cover the area in political signs during elections. The food was good so I will go back, but others who would like to avoid mixing their politics with dinner or who have trouble ignoring it may want to pass by this place. read more

Your options aren't great in this neck of the woods. We joined some friends and actually gave this place two tries about a year apart. Hubby and I usually order two different things and share. Place is much bigger than expected. Wait staff was attentive. Food, although I did not have high expectations, was much worse. Both times we didn't care for anything we ordered. A better cheaper option is to get carryout from Costco or a frozen entree from your local supermarket. Around elections, expect to see a ton of signs. To me that is a turnoff no matter what party you support. Why do businesses do that? Still I am glad I tried Boondocks. Sometimes you can find great home cooking at these places........just not here........for me. If you think this is your kind of place, call first during these virus closures. Typical bar restaurant. We ordered the buffalo chicken wrap and the brisket sandwich. The buffalo chicken wrap was "meh" at best. The brisket was the worst beef I have ever put in my mouth. Ever. It was at LEAST 90% fat. Clearly whoever made it had NO IDEA how to prepare brisket. I LOVE brisket. I'm a fan of good brisket fat. There is no world in which a sandwich should be 90% fat. Ever. I have been to The Boondocks several times and sometimes it is fantastic and sometimes it is so-so. The good is that the pub food is really great, The Burg Burger (with bacon) is really great. The beef seems to taste really great and fresh. I have tried some of the other fare but the burgers are where it is at! Although they have a full service bar, don't expect anything beyond a basic mixed drink or domestic beer. My first time there I asked for a Manhattan and you would have thought I was speaking Chinese. Not a good impression when a bartender has to ask a guest how to make a drink. The beer selection is also very limited, would be nice to have something beyond Bud Light, Coors, Miller etc.about the most exotic beer here is the Heineken. Would love to see them get some local craft beers like Hoof Hearted or Homestead on tap, but save that even fare from New Belgium or Bells. I have also found out that when you go is important. Every time I have been there on a weekday between noon and 5 it has been fantastic. Great service, friendly people and great atmosphere. You can easily strike up a friendly conversation with the staff and other patrons. After 5 and on weekends in particular; not so much. It goes from a restaurant which happens to have a bar to a full blown bar filled with a less than a great element of people. Lots of loud, obnoxious and belligerent people and power drinkers. On one Saturday afternoon I heard a woman argue with the waitress to make her next Vodka and Orange juice in a much larger glass and just a "splash" of OJ. This type of crowd can't be blamed on the ownership, just unfortunate that during those times it becomes just another dive bar in Morrow County like Sadies and Dorothys whereas it could be much more upscale and refined. That being said I do love to grab lunch and a cold beer here on the weekdays and I love to bring out of towners and my clients here as the pub food is really top notch. We sat there and sat there and they didn't come by to clean off the table from the previous diners and then waited on the table that came in after we did so we left and went somewhere else to eat. So I've been trying to get my Husband to visit this place for a long time, since we have nowhere else to eat around here besides fast food and the Farmstead. Needless to say I was pleasantly surprised, their steak fries are absolutely fantastic ( I'm from up north near Cleveland, and they're almost exactly like Rocky River brewing Company's fries which are my favorite.) I wish I had tried something other than the BBQ pulled pork as I've had a lot of barbecue and this wasn't the best, but it was still pretty darn tasty. Next time I think I'll try the Stromboli as the waiter highly recommended it. We went on a Tuesday night it wasn't terribly busy, so our food came out really fast. The atmosphere is nice kind of rustic, bar-ish, American, but we felt comfortable taking our two-year-old daughter there, and she enjoyed looking at all the things on the wall. It was clean, spacious, and welcoming, if not a tad bit dark inside. I do wish our waiter had been a bit more attentive, as there weren't that many people there, i had to wait a bit for a refill, but the service wasn't bad, and the food was good, so I'll forgive it. The prices are very reasonable as well, we got two sandwiches (which come with delicious cole-slaw and a side), two pops, and a fish n' chips kids meal for about $27.00 without tip. Not too bad, seems about average to me, and the food was worth it. Overall I'm really happy we tried this place out, we finally have a place to take our out-of-town guests when they come to visit and we don't have to drive 30 minutes to get there! I should say that Yelp's map isn't accurate. This place is actually on the corner of S.R. 61 and County Rd. 25 in Fulton.
