Ashley, OH. Blink and you might miss it. Didnt expect to find a hidden gem here... But that is exactly what we found. Turn into their tiny town and you will find the Rusted Nail (a tavern) You will be completely surprised and impressed. I highly recommend this place and this is why: The bar uses some warm lights to create a golden glow among the bottles. Scattered among the bottles are some bobble heads which made me laugh- But the lighting works and creates a good vibe. The inside is done in dark wood and dark paint. Its cozy and classic. The bartender really likes the place (you could just tell and that a GOOD sign) and she was quite helpful with the menu. Their menu is priced reasonable. The food we had was really good. Drinks reasonable. They have live music on the weekends (primarily Sundays) Kareoke on Thursdays They smoke their own meats... thats done on Wednesday so if you are looking for wings come on Wednesday. It kind of seems like when they are gone they are gone until the next Wednesday. Lol. I looked over the menu and saw a unique item: Pickle Bacon Grilled Cheese. Thought. Huh. Weird. Went there with our riding group for lunch. Plenty of seating on the patio for our group of nearly 20 people. Our table had, shrimp PO-boy, Cuban sandwich, Vermont burger, chicken fingers, mozzarella sticks and jalapeño potato barrels. The menu selection is up to date, price and quality very good, and portions are plenty, It wouldn't offend me if the side of coleslaw was bigger. Staff was friendly, confirmed orders, and attentive with refills. Service was good, especially when 20ish folks show up, I think we call ahead so it's not a surprise. So now the reasons they only got 3 stars. The picnic table we sat at seemed like it was 2-3" short for adults, leg cramper all around. Maybe a little bit picky, but we did have to ask for napkins and silverware. However my biggest reason is for one of my restaurant pet peeves: servers not knowing what is not available on the menu. Both appetizers we originally wanted were not available, which we were told 15 min+ after placing the order. However we were only charged for the lower cost original appetizers we ordered which was nice. read more

Rusted Nail is the only decent place in Ashley. It looks like it's pretty modern. The interior is clean and there's plenty of TVs. It has some good liquor. The food is mostly barbecue and fried stuff. It doesn't have much competition. It really doesn't even have to try and they would still be okay. The only other restaurants looked like an ice cream place and a nasty looking pizza place. It seems to be more of a bar. The food doesn't look the least bit healthy. It's very meat centric. The rest seems to be fried stuff. I had a Jameson and ginger ale. It's about $5 for a glass. This is a pretty average price. It's one of the few bars or restaurants in the area. It's not that far from Delaware State Park. This is a dining option if you're camping there. read more

We've driven past this place several times and were excited to try it. What a disappointment. It took them 15 minutes for them to notice us after getting our menus, with very few customers there. They took our order and we did not receive all of it, but they only had one person working on St. Patty's Day. My daughter ordered coleslaw with her wrap, but apparently they were out of coleslaw, so instead of asking her what she wanted to replace it with, they brought her cottage cheese (which she doesn't like) and steamed vegetables, which were FROZEN to the touch. And we never got our waffle fries. We let the waitress know and she apologized, but never did anything to compensate for that. While we were waiting for our drinks, we watched the waitress do a shot with her friend. Seems like it could be a neat place, but the service was horrible, so we wont be back. read more

This is a nice little restaurant and not what you would expect to find in sick a small town. I've gone for brunch in the past which was very good. This time we went for lunch and enjoyed it as well. I just got a few appetizers for my meal. I got the fried pepperoni, the pretzel balls, and the loaded potatoes. All of them were very good and the fried pepperoni was probably my favorite. My husband for the fried balongna sandwich which was also quite good. I think this is definitely the best place to eat in Ashley so I'm sure we'll be back again! read more

Stopped here for a drink after a wedding at about 815p. They were pretty busy so the bartender told us to find our own seat. We didn't mind grabbing our own seat even at a table with empty bottles lingering. Due to the crowd, our drink and app order wasn't taken until after 845. It was a long wait but we were understanding. Drinks and app came quickly... but our server never came back. The crowd dispersed with only a few bar spots filled. Server stayed behind the bar and never came back. After another 45 minute wait, we estimated our bill, left cash on the table and headed out. I've never done this in my life. read more

Yes, the bar is kinda low when you're out in the sticks, but Rusted Nail is not simply benefiting from a paucity of coolness. This is a classy bar, with a thoughtful beer selection, excellent whiskeys, and some nifty mixological skills behind the bar. The kitchen is on point, as well. This isn't a "gastro" pub, but the bar food is prepared with respect, and the pricing is approachable. Is it worth a drive all the way up 42 for the sole purpose of checking this joint out? My wife and I love going to different pubs in small towns for lunch. On a whim, we went here for lunch today and was pleasantly surprised. The server (labeled "AM") on the ticket was very friendly and efficient. I enjoy a nice glass of wine with my burgers and ordered the house Pinot Noir. Mark West was what I recieved for a modest $5 a glass. To compare, I recently paid $15 dollars a glass at a Hilton. Bottom line, their "house" wines were actually fairly good. The burger was fantastic! I was given a choice between pink and brown. I loved the KISS (Keep It Simple Stupid) method. The burger came out juicy, pink and very flavorful. The bun was also good which can ruin a good paddy. Oh, and Rusted Nail is sticking to the tradition of putting WHITE onion in their burgers instead of resisting the temptation to sacrifice flavor for color, BRAVO! Someone recommended this place to us so we thought we'd try it out. Horrible service!!!! We waited over 10 min and no one came to our table. The waitress made eye contact with me twice while she was picking up the bill at a table 2 tables down. We were the only other table of people in the inside part and there were a few people sitting at the bar. Another staff stood at the end of the bar sipping on a drink and chatting with someone, also made eye contact several times, walked back into the kitchen then came back to stand at the end of the bar but never came to our table or got anyone else to come over. We walked out at that point. I understand being busy but you can at least come take a drink order or acknowledge that you are busy and will be with us shortly. They weren't busy inside tho. The food is great, the service is hit or miss. We have been completely ignored for 30+ mins before going to the bar ourselves to ask for menus and to make our order before and we have also had wonderful service. Unfortunately, sometimes I have waited upwards of 12 minutes to be acknowledged. I'm disappointed I have to give them even one star. Unacceptable service. I can understand someone being new. I can also understand larger parties taking longer. To not get 5 out of 10 orders entirely is ridiculous. Then when questioning where the rest of the food is we are given attitude like it was our fault, or told we should have made reservations when there was only two other tables being served. There were Bar patrons stepping in to speak for staff member's who are fully capable of speaking for themselves. Worst of all lipstick on a new glass of beer. I so wanted to like this place and did enjoy my food but I did find some problems. Me and some coworkers went to get away from work. They did not know what they had drink wise and did not even ask if they had a beer I asked for. Me and my friends beer came a little warmer than normal and did not have the foam or the orange. Our food sat at the window and came warm not as hot, some of it was missing. Our waitress was clueless. After we were done eating I ordered a few drinks and about 10 minutes later she asked if we wanted more beers or our checks. Then I asked if she would get our drinks. After we got them they they just tasted bad. We got our check for the whole table than asked if we were separate, then asked what we have ordered... I will go back just because it's close but I hope it gets better! read more

Disappointing experience tonight. My son was not served the drink he asked for...ever. Then they put water in the Sprite he ended up with. The server was eating her meal at the bar then delivering food and drinks without washing her hands in between. The food was just ok. So I thought this place was a restaurant/bar/pub kind of place. Turns out, it's really just a bar. We walked in and there's no one there and no sign instructing us to choose our seats or wait to be seated. We stood around awkwardly for a bit until someone finally approached us. We have two kids, age 5 and 2. The 2-year-old needs a high chair. All of the inside seating are booths that are up on a pedestal, so no place to put a high chair. We had to go outside for seating, which would have been ok, but since there's a huge bar outside, people were smoking, and of course, there were flies everywhere. And the table was so high compared to the high chair, it came up to my son's chin. There was a live performer who was thankfully acoustic, but it was so loud we couldn't hear each other. I could have forgiven all of the above had the food and service made up for it, but they didn't. Took forever to get someone to take our order, took forever to get our food, and then took an even longer time to get the bill. My daughter liked her corn dogs, my son refused to touch the Mac and cheese bites (he loves Mac and cheese but they only had these deep fried things.) I had the chicken wrap and French onion soup. It was ok, nothing to write home about. My husband had the burger with the egg and said it was ok, but it didn't sit well in his stomach. We both agreed the fries were pretty good. So while the food wasn't bad per se, it also wasn't great. Bottom line: if you want a place to go grab a drink and chat with friends or listen to music, this place is the place for you, the decor is well done and the patio is actually really nice. If you're looking for a place to sit down and have a tasty dinner with the family, this isn't the place. Which is disappointing because I was looking forward to not having to drive 30 minutes to get to a good restaurant. Oh well, c'est la vie. I was heading north of Columbus, Ohio and heard of this place. I thought I would give it a try. In the small town of Ashley. I've been to quite a few bar/restaurants in my life.This place was very nice and well worth the short drive from US 23N. Atmosphere was warm and friendly. Beautiful patio area. Food and service was excellent. I intend to return the next time I'm in the Columbus area and recommend this place to others. read more
