Stopped by on our way through town, cute little place attached to a golf course. There is outside seating and a cozy indoors with a bar. As a pescatarian I was glad to see a shrimp option. Loved all the sauces to go with the very tasty tater tots.. enjoyed the side salad too! My boyfriend enjoyed his pork sandwich. The cornbread was very moist and delicious and comes with the platters. Usually, the food is good and the service is solid. However, yesterday the service was extremely slow... It wasn't even dinner time, It was like 4:00-4;30 but hey, I get it, it's a Sunday & people go there more than during the week. I ordered the pulled chicken, and it just seemed really salty. The baked beans were really good though and I had green beans and they seemed like they were seasoned just right. My husband ordered the sampler and he was saying how the smoked turkey was so dry and he kept trying to pass it off to me, but I have tried their turkey before and I am not a fan so no way was I going to eat dry turkey jerky along with salty pulled chicken. All in all, I would still prefer this place over City BBQ -I just don't get why they were extremely slow, I seen the same people at the tables around us sitting there the entire time we were there so apparently they are used to slow service or something idk. I think we were there for a total of two hours from the time we were seated to the time that we paid our bill and left. We come up to visit family members every so often and don't get to stay very long because of the hour and a half drive to and from each way so this really was cutting into our quality time to spend with them. Searching for something along our rod trip route we discovered this wonderful local place! It's nestled on a golf course and we sat upstairs outside overlooking the green. The tables were plenty and spaced out with breathing room. Parking was good too,. The server was helpful and pleasant. We ordered the sampler meal to share and it came with plenty! All the meat is gluten free and they have a few sides to choose from that are as well. The smoked turkey was my absolute favorite! The pulled pork was a close second! The baked beans and coleslaw were just ok, and the cornbread had more flour in it than cornmeal. The ribs were tender but the bbq sauce was lacking something. You're welcomed by the smell of the smoker on the parking lot. It is a rustic bbq house ambiance. The menu had great selection, it was hard to choose. I was drawn to the smoked wings an fried chips with beer cheese. There is a caddy of sauces on the table with everything from sweet to spicy. Honestly, we've only gone the few times we have because I love BBQ and it's the only BBQ in town. The only item I have never been disappointed in was the bacon tots, which were removed from the menu. If you're coming from out of state and look young... beware trying to buy drinks. You'd think Pennsylvania IDs would be common in Ohio since they're neighbors, guess not. They wasted 20 minutes of our time trying to figure out if an ID was real. PA ID's say "Not For Real ID Purposes" on it, meaning that it's not the new government "REAL ID" used for flying in the airport in replacement of passports. For how many people working here, I was astonished that absolutely none of them could decipher if an ID was real. This is basic service you're taught in training. They have a huge back porch extension of the dining space overlooking their expansive back area with a stage where they host live bands. The food is amazing and worth the drive from Columbus not to mention the incredible pricing! The real bonus for us is the "normal" feel that you never seem to be able to find in the city anymore. The only reason I gave 4 instead of 5 stars is because our server waited a long time to come check on us after dropping off our food. Went last night for the first time... My wife and I as well as the couple we went with were seated very quickly. Despite the fact that it was a very busy night. Our waitress was very attentive and was great.. Food arrived pretty quickly And I got the brisket platter with tater tots and macaroni and cheese. Everything tasted good the brisket was really tender lay tender but I'm not quite sure if the side dishes were homemade. I know the tater tots weren't but they were fried perfectly nice and crispy on the outside and tender and puffy and flaky and perfect on the inside. The macaroni and cheese seem to be pre made with a creamy sauce that just seemed like it was frozen. But not sure, that's my opinion. My wife got brisket nachos which was a huge portion. They were REALLY good! She had the Ace kiwi strawberry hard cider along with it and paired magnificently Their barbecue sauces were also really really good. Their signature 30 sauce sauce had a little smoke and tank to it and I also tried the spicy sauce which had spice but wasn't overly spicy.
