I spent alot of time getting donuts and hot chocolate here while I was a student at The Ohio State University. The donuts are simple and delicious. The hot chocolate is equally good. I've always been met with friendly staff and efficient service. My favourite donut is the french cruller donut which is not too sweet and has just the perfect amount of dough. I also recently tried the blueberry donut which is delicious as well. They serve lunch here too. The regular donuts are $1.20 each and there are a few other donuts for $1.75 each. This donut shop is small so there are only a few tables and chairs. Most people take their order out (come in, pay, then leave). Buckeye donuts is even better than I remember. I got one buckeye flavored donut, and one red velvet with cream cheese frosting. The buckeye flavored one looks filled, but it's actually not. It just has a glob of peanut butter on the middle. Still, I loved it. The red velvet had a wonderful moist cake, and I loved the cream cheese frosting on top. There was plenty of frosting which was great since I LOVE frosting. I ended up back there later one night and got the cheddar fries. They do not skimp on the cheese. There were two students in front of me grabbing a donut to go. They've got some great options of donuts as well as some other breakfast items if you aren't into that. I will add that this is not a place where they try to make the donut look presentable. If that's what you want, go to Dunkin. Still, the donuts are kinda big and still kinda cheap. I've had a glazed chocolate before and I've tried the famous Buckeye donut. It's basically a regular donut with chocolate icing and a smear of peanut butter in the middle. This place is an institution for a reason. The reason: donuts. I've never had their gyro. I've never even had coffee because I come for one thing and one thing only. DONUTS Let's talk about cream sticks (long Johns or torpedoes depending on where you're from) because any place that sells donuts has to sell cream sticks. Buckeye's cream sticks are a great size, perfectly filled and topped with a swipe of maple or chocolate frosting. Amazing. On our most recent trip we had vanilla cream donuts, blueberry, coconut, and a cinnamon roll. All are top notch. Like I said, this place is an institution. This one was on the boss. When in Rome, or Columbus- Brutus says Buckeye Donuts is the place to start your day. This is a great little restaurant (yes, much more than just deep fried dough). The only real complaint I have is every time I place an order for a 16 ounce coffee they always give me a 12 ounce coffee so if they don't have a 16 ounce why are they charging me for more and giving me less? This is one of our favorite donut places in town! There is no where else you can pick up the famous maple bacon donut. A vanilla filled finger topped with nice thick maple icing and two strips of crispy bacon! They also have huge cronuts and various other really good donuts. Adrienne's favorite is the red velvet donut and the boys love anything glazed. The prices here are really good and they don't overcharge for anything. We also picked up a couple of the breakfast sandwiches and they were made perfectly. The best thing about this place is that they are open 24hrs so if you need an end of night meal this is where you should go. Besides being a 24/7 donut place right by campus, I don't really understand the hype about Buckeye Donuts. Its a great stop for a quick, cheap donut basically any time of the day but their donuts aren't so amazing that I'd go out of my way for them. For what it is, its great but compared to all donuts being offered its pretty average. Does that mean I won't come back? No, I'll make random trips if I'm craving a basic donut but if I weren't already in the area, I wouldn't make a special trip out just for this. I have yet to try any of the food though so maybe that'll change my mind about everything. But until I return and try more things, I'd say its an average place for an average donut. read more

The donuts are made fresh twice a day and the store is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. I love the untouched look about the place. The classic diner with stools and a U-shaped counter. Everybody is super friendly and very helpful. PARKING - there are 5 meters directly in front of the shop. If those are full you'll need to park a block or so away as there aren't any public spots available in the back or on the sides of this block. There is a walk up counter right inside the entrance where you can order donuts. We ordered a couple donuts and sat down in front of the window overlooking high street. Most if not all of the business that we saw during our visit was from people walking in and getting food to go. Order: Buckeye donut $1.85 Apple fritter $1.85 Regular donuts are $1.25, and Fancy donuts are $1.85. This seems to be cheaper than most places in town and these are much higher quality. The buckeye donut is a yeast donut topped with chocolate icing and a center of real creamy peanut butter. It was excellent! The apple fritter was truly an old fashioned delight. I loved every bite. I still can't believe that I have lived here all my life and never heard of this place until recently. Buckeye Donuts has came in the clutch for me for 4 years since I moved to Columbus. Located near the OSU campus Center, students from all over can come and enjoy a bite to eat at anytime. These are some delicious doughnuts! Buckeye Donuts is located in the heart of the OSU area on high street. The place is obsurdly busy on a Saturday OSU home game. I typically go when OSU is on break. The popularity really speaks to how fantastic the donughts are. No, they dont necessarily have gourmet flavors. But they do have a lot to choose from and the donuts they have are done right!! My favorites are the blueberry old fashioned, apple fritter, devils food cake donut with cream cheese icing. And for bacon lovers they have a maple bacon donut! The flavor, texture and fresh homemade donuts are worth checking this place out. They do offer gyros which I've tried a couple of times. This place is awesome. It has a very mom and pop feel when you walk in, nothing frilly by any means. They have a donut case built into the counter and more donuts in shelves on the walls so you're literally surrounded by donuts the second you walk in- the things dreams are made of when you want donuts! We had a quick in and out trip because we were on our way to a concert, but I'd go back anytime I'm in Columbus. Hands down the best donut I've had aside from Jack Frost up in Cleveland. I'm a cake donut lover through and through- I'd usually rather not have one at all if it's yeast based. This place has a killer buckeye yeast donut, though. For those who aren't familiar, buckeye is peanut butter and chocolate.. literally the best combination ever. This donut was pillowy soft and not at all greasy. There's a slather of peanut butter on top and the perfect ratio of PB to chocolate- no gluing your mouth shut with this donut! I also had a blueberry cake donut and my boyfriend had a red velvet cake donut with cream cheese frosting. Both were solid. Some cake donuts have a tendency to just be a big bomb of sweet. You can even forget what flavor it is if you close your eyes sometimes. Not with these, though. Definitely tasted the blueberry and there was an awesome crisp to the edges. As an OSU grad, I was super pumped to return to this old favorite from back in the day. To be honest though, the donuts were a little disappointing as two tasted a little old but the rest were as fresh as can be. I really enjoyed the braided yeast donut as it had the perfect amount of fluff and sugar. My husband loved the fritter. I would give the donuts 3.5 stars for taste since the jelly filled and long John were old. BUT the service was incredibly friendly and as fast as can be.
