Every travel guide says that Buckeye Donuts is a must visit and that is correct. I love that it's 24 hours, it's comforting knowing that fresh donuts are available at all hours. I came by one Thursday morning and it wasn't very busy (perhaps I beat the pre-class crowd!). When you walk in, they have a big display case with a huge variety of donuts, from the standard to the more creative. I didn't indulge in the Buckeye Donut, but got a glazed, a cinnamon bun, and a coconut cake. I devoured them immediately! They were so fresh and light and sweet they hit the spot. I was in the neighborhood visiting my sons at OSU, & of course I couldn't resist stopping in for some donuts at the iconic Buckeye Donuts. This place might not be fancy, but their donuts sure are! Ok, maybe fancy isn't the right word but they're damn good. If you're looking for a proper donut and have a sweet tooth, this is one of the best places to satisfy it on High. They were running a Buy 4, get 1 Free so of course, that's what I got. And you can't ever go wrong with getting pumpkin spice when it's in season. Their red velvet has always been a must for us too. And since I love a good yeast donut, I chose the humble simple glazed. I'm also a sucker for custard, especially when paired with chocolate frosting - so I guess I HAD to get 2 of those. Small as the dickens, but, really, since this is a student-focused spot, they're on the run most of the time, so a stop-and-go atmosphere is fitting. I've tried BD's south-side location; I've heard it owned by the brother from a long ago parting of ways, but that could be just here say. Bottom line, these donuts are good, but nothing to write home about. Their apple fritter was decent, but other than that, one and the same. This is a great clutch donut shop if you need a pick me up at 3 AM, as this location is open 24/7. In town for the Donnie Iris event I researched Buckeye Donuts and found that the Greek owners serve gyros. I called Buckeye Donuts at the Ohio State University (OSU) location while driving on Interstate 70 in PA to inquire whether they served gyros 24/7. Jimmie (the owner?) picked up the phone and I told him we were up from Florida for the Donnie Iris event and asked did they serve gyros 24/7. Jimmy sounded exuberant that Donnie was in town, and after some brief banter, said that they did serve 24/7 gyros. Had to go to Buckeye because I've never been to a Greek owned donut shop that serves gyros 24/7. We got to Buckeye about 8:30AM Sa. They shop was packed with OSU students and local "Columbusans" carrying out dozens and dozens of donuts. I ordered my gyro w/ fries and my order came out lickety split. The gyro was loaded with beef-lamb meat, the lettuce and tomatos were freshly cut and nicely saucy. The seasoned fries were hot, fresh and crisy - all with an OSU view across the street. We came here for a late night snack on our way out of Columbus. We arrived around 8pm and people were still coming in and out of this place. The staff here was great and were patient while we picked our donuts. M I of course had to get a Buckeye Donut. Couldn't leave Columbus without trying it. Another favorite donut of mine has always been a maple donut. And it's a bonus when ever a donut shop offers a maple donut with bacon on top. And this place did just that. Oh how I wish I still lived in Columbus solely for how much I enjoy Buckeye Donuts... especially when I am hungover teehee. My go-to is ALWAYS the bacon, egg and cheese on an everything bagel. Stopped in this morning as it was one of the only places open so early on a Sunday. They were running a special of buy 3 get 1 and so the wife and I split a chocolate cake donut, custard filled donut, the famous buckeye donut and then an Apple fritter to round it all out. What was a late night adventure for me and my husband all the way from Powell turned out to be the worst experience ever at a restaurant due to one worst type of rude human of a cashier. Such a rude person with a bad attitude. Have not even tasted the food yet due to all the hassle and rudeness experienced by the cashier and am writing this review on my way back home now. We ordered online as I was craving donuts. We got 1 dozen mixed regular and fancy donuts, 1/2 dozen custard packzi, 2 traditional gyros (one with fries and drink), and onion rings. We ordered for 10:15pm pickup. Received the order confirmation via text just fine. Even received the text for pickup order being ready at 10:15pm perfectly fine. I waited in the car when my husband went to pick up the order. By the way, there is no way to customize tip so I tipped 15% on this order (which was the least you could select online). Husband texts me at 10:25pm that the order is not ready and they want to see the order, because they can't find my order at all. I send him both the order confirmation and order pickup ready messages I received. Disappointed that order is not ready, but understand as restaurant is busy. Husband brings order to car at 10:45pm. I check the order. Out of the dozen donuts, there are only 10. I had ordered 2 glazed and they were out. They also did not give the 1/2 dozen packzis that I spent $15 on, sent husband back in with the receipt! My husband comes back to car because cashier is adamant that he gave them?! This time we take our entire order back inside, since there seems to be some trust issues of the cashier and I also go in myself. Wow! Greeted by an offensive cashier who thinks it's funny to be messing up orders past 30 minutes of pickup for a customer who tells us "oh, how do I know you haven't eaten them in the car?" The nerve of this guy is next level. I could not take it any more and said it's not really funny when you keep messing up our order several times. Not to mention, not properly counting and shorting us on a full dozen donuts as well! He comes back with no apology and says "oh, I did not notice you had the packzis on the receipt." Is that my fault or problem? Also, how is that possible, when you just told my husband you did place them in the donut box?! He literally just made my husband take our donut box into the shop to count himself. And then, for the cherry on top, starts yelling "I'm human, I'm human and it was a joke." I know how to read jokes and nothing was a joke at this time with two frustrated customers. When we finally reached our limit and mentioned that nothing is funny about the situation and we don't appreciate being treated like we lied about our order, he got all defensive and says "what? You want me to add a free donut?" No, I don't want free things, but some dignity as a customer and the things I actually paid for. He couldn't take that I called him out on his poor attitude and ridiculous behavior and told us we can "walk out" and continually laughed as we walked out with our order, which still had two donuts less, because with the disgusting experience I forgot to ask him to count them this time. I wish I had the energy to ask for a manager, but as a pregnant woman at 11pm, I was done. Good luck to everyone ordering from this location, I will never be back. Service is such a big part of eating out and tonight was ruined. Hope he enjoys the 15% tip, he does not deserve a cent of it. Nothing earth shattering or special. Buckeye donut was kinda a letdown. I had high hopes but just left kinda unimpressed. The. Hype. Is. REAL!!!!!!!!! My husband has been hyping up Buckeye Donuts from the day I met him. Four years later, we finally got to experience the legendary donuts for ourselves. First of all, this place is an ESTABLISHMENT. It's a staple of the community. Game day or no game day, this place is always buzzing. Every day we walked by, there was a line out of the door (but it moved fast). The first donut I tried was the classic Buckeye. Literally don't even think about ordering anything else first. This is a chocolate-y, heavenly raised donut with decadent peanut butter in the middle. What more do you need? The second donut was a glazed chocolate cake donut. This might have been the best chocolate cake donut I have ever had. It was dense, but not too dense, sweet but not too sweet, and glazed perfectly. Sooooo delicious! Last, we tried their seasonal pumpkin spice donut. It was really good, but their classics are better. We also had coffee, which was soooo delicious and kept us warm on our cool walk around campus. Got a most unfortunate gyro breakfast sandwich on Texas toast for $4. The Texas toast was actually just toasted normal thin white bread slices. The sandwich had one fried egg, square slice of melted processed cheddar, and some gyro shaved slices but no sauce, nothing to save it from being hopelessly drying. Really would have choked a person without a milk to wash it down with. Another time I got onion rings which are hard to screw up. They were hot and crispy and great. They do not take carry out orders by phone- too many people don't pick them up, so they use GrubHub and PostMates etc only. The traditional gyros I've had several times are simple- shaved meat, tomato and/or onions, lots of shredded lettuce and some sauce of your choosinf. Adding feta which is totally necessary for flavor is $0.50 extra. Most of the workers here are super nice even when I come in super grumpy (meaning I don't want the really annoying extra chatter and maniacally loud obnoxiousness the one heavy set guy with one front tooth lays on thick). My family LOVES Buckeye Donuts! Yum Yum Yum! First, I love the cute decor inside. Second, I love the restaurant's taste of music! Third, I love that they serve breakfast until 10 PM! Their breakfast (aside from the donuts) is so amazing! I am a huge fan of the sausage, egg, and cheese croissant with tots! The sandwich is large and fluffy and absolutely delish! As someone who just started grad school at OSU, I hope I don't get in trouble for this honest review. I was on campus pretty late, so I decided to swing by Buckeye Donuts to pick up some food. I ended up ordering a classic gyro, fries, chicken tenders, and a buttermilk donut. The best part of the meal were the chicken tenders...by far. They were crispy and flavorful. Everything else was kind of sub-par. Listen, as a Greek, I'm required by law to truthfully tell you whether or not a gyro was good. This gyro was god awful. It was bland, the tzatziki tasted only of raw garlic, and the pita was stale. I couldn't even bite into it, and ended up taking all the toppings inside and putting it on top of the fries in order to eat it. (I also had to add quite a bit of salt.) A bitter old Greek man would say this gyro was made by a malaka. The fries were pretty greasy, but they were okay. The buttermilk donut was also just okay. I wasn't blown away by it, and thought it actually was a bit dry. Overall, I wasn't impressed, and think this place may have really good reviews mostly for nostalgia reasons. As someone that doesn't have nostalgia tied to this place, I can honestly say I probably won't be back for a while. I might try another donut eventually. The prices are good, though. read more

I like coming to Buckeye Donuts simply for the atmosphere. This is so much more than a simple donut shop. There are a bunch of regulars who are there almost all the time. It also has some really good food, and that is not only the donuts, but the sandwiches. They have really cheap daily specials. I really like the falafel special. It's only about $6 for a falafel pita, fries, and pop. This is a great deal for the amount and quality. It has similar specials each day usually for falafel and gyros. The fries are good to fill up on before a big night out. It's also really fun to come at night and see all the stupid drunk people. They can get scary at some times. A few have even relieved themselves on the floor. There are some idiots but there are lots of hipsters who hang out there most of the time, so you can get caught up in some complex theories while waiting for your order. Because it's so popular there most likely will be a line outside. They are open all day almost every day so any time is really a good time to go there. It sucks to get there. The parking sucks and there's always construction. I think it's fortunate that OSU brought me here and found this cool place. This is a must stop for anyone visiting OSU.
