Been trying to get here for awhile. Limited hours, not really on my usual routes, and then today serious construction on Kenny. But we made it, just before closing. Standard old-school donut shop, plus some hot breakfast items. All the baked goods looked great, but about half the case was empty since it was so late (as usual with good bakeries.) We got four donuts and a cherry turnover. All looked good, and all tasted good. Perfectly baked and filled or topped or whatever. Sweet but not overly so. Good, fast service. They had a steady stream of dine-in and carryout customers. Get here. Check the hours ahead. Careful with the current construction. We've only been able to stop here twice. Each time was for a good old fashioned Mom & Pop type doughnut. The doughnuts are delicious, fresh and are a better price than the "chain" shops. This place is jamming! Crew works hard to get everyone seated and served, but they need to learn to have some fun while they do it. Donut selection is pretty good, with apple fritters, eclairs and run of the mill options available. On this trip I just got a dozen to go, but I've had breakfast here before as well which was very good. Owner is always working, either in the kitchen or making sure the tables are being bussed so they can bring more kerching in the door. There was some kind of controversy over shouting down, but I don't know what that was all about and based on the crowd this Sunday morning, they are printing money in this place! read more

Tiny little diner/doughnut shop with a strong following. The crew there knew the names of many of the customers. I'm guessing the customer service and the damn good diner food keeps them coming back. I had the corned beef hash, scrambled eggs, and whole wheat buttered toast that was perfectly prepared and tasted great. And yes, while settling up my bill, I ordered some doughnuts to take home! One of those doughnuts, and Apple Fritter, was one of the best Apple Fritters I have ever had. Somehow they got a good amount of the apples to stay in the dough and went just a little heavy on the cinnamon making me regret not buying more. I've seen this place for years and finally took the opportunity to stop in for some midday donuts. Nicely done, Honey Dip! There's just something about the way the dough was fried that reminded me of the donuts I got as a kid which is a very good thing. The icing and fillings were adequate complements, but the dough was the star. A cute little dinette where you can get all your breakfast faves! It's very busy on a Saturday morning here and customers are packed in the small dining room and bar area seating. Service was sweet and fast which was good could I was hungry! I didn't get their signature donut offerings but I got their pancake which hit the spot. This has been on my list for a while now and boy am I glad I finally went in for breakfast! Definitely a great, old school diner with amazing, no frills breakfast! Just delightful! Upon entering on a Wednesday morning, it was clear that this place is a huge hit with locals. Nearly all the tables were full of what appeared to be retirees. You can't help but enjoy the old school vibes, with a counter up front proudly displaying donuts on the back wall, as we as options like Long Johns and Cinnamon rolls on the bottom case. We dined in and took a seat on the right hand side of the dining room. Classic photographs filled the wall in addition to a flat screen TV playing ESPN. I opted to sit facing the other way to minimize distraction :) There were two servers managing the front of the house while the cooks were busy at work in the kitchen. Everything on the breakfast menu was reasonably priced below $10. They offer all the fare you know, love, and expect such as eggs, toast, pancakes, omelette, etc. in addition to specials like a donut sandwich. After deliberating over what to order, I opted for the Eggs Benedict while my sister chose the Corned Beef Hash. Our items came out swiftly and were simply delicious. The hollandaise sauce atop the Canadian bacon and English muffin was unexpectedly outstanding. Rich, and flavorful, it was the perfect topper to the savory meat and airy muffin. My sister's hash was delicious too - very delicious and satisfying. We took home a half-dozen box of assorted donuts as well. They were tasty, though the hot breakfast was even better in my opinion. A classic diner. Honey Dip Donuts is a longtime favorite. If you don't want doughnuts there's also real food. Basic things like sandwiches to eat. The doughnuts however are the main thing. Be sure to get there early. It closes early. They're open for breakfast and lunch. After that they go home. Most people come for the doughnuts so it's busiest in the morning. It also has a small lunch menu if you're dining in. The lunch food is pretty average but it's cheap though. I came in to pick up doughnuts for a meeting. Looking at the menu, I thought why not get something to eat too. It was no problem. They could wait. I ordered a Vegetable Sandwich. It's about $6.50 and comes with chips on the side. This comes with some kind of tzatziki sauce, but skip that nasty shit and get some Italian dressing because it's healthier and it goes well. Of course most people come for the doughnuts. They have the typical assorted flavors. Interesting place to check out and it feels homey. It's as if this is a place time forgot with the outdated exterior and interior. The long John was light and the flavor was not overpowering- the vanilla cream was on the light side which I was ok with but might be light for others. My co-worker and I went to Honey Dip Donuts to pick up donuts. Some or many of the staff were unfriendly at times, but did a great job in getting the donuts we wanted to take to the office. I had another co-worker who encountered the staff when she lived in Upper Arlington. The staff wants you out quickly after getting served. The diner atmosphere part was little bigger than expected, but may try their breakfast sometime but the some or many of the unfriendly staff could work on customer service in being more friendly and caring. Had an omelet- all are build your own- which ended up at over ten bucks with 3 eggs, bell peppers, onions, and feta and they forgot the mushrooms and barely added any peppers or onions. It was really really bad. The eggs didn't taste right and the potatoes I couldn't even eat because they were cold large soggy starchy mushy chunks. Really nasty. The only good thing were the two slices of wheat toast cut into four triangles and properly buttered. Those were soggy too but at least warm. The one donut I had (selection was slim at 11am on a Saturday) was a sour cream cake and it was not dry but not remarkable in any way either. Very lackluster disappointing experience. The other patrons were all elderly and appeared to be regulars so that is probably how this place makes it. Meh. Update: went at 740 and got three cake donuts. They all three have a nice bit of outside crisp and nice glaze but you bite in and get dry cake immediately. These donuts require a beverage so you don't choke which is bad. read more

If I could give 0 stars I would. Honey dip donuts does not seem to like African American people. Myself, my three year old son and my husband walked into the diner and asked if we seated ourselves as it was our first time there. The waitress we asked did not even acknowledge us or respond. We sat at a table for over 10 minutes waiting to be served and no one came. We finally got up and got into our car. We sat for a second and watched a white couple sit at the exact same table we sat at and were acknowledged within 2 minutes of sitting down. It's 2025 and you wouldn't think this was an issue. The number of times I had driven by thinking that Honey Dip Donuts was simply a donut shop is huge. I like donuts, don't get me wrong, but I'm not a fan of honey. The name of the place made me think that it was just a donut shop that specialized in honey-dipped donuts. So I never went in. One day, my wife asked about it and suggested we stop by sometime. She likes donuts and honey, so it didn't seem out of the ordinary to me that she would want to try it. We went in one Saturday morning, and, much to my surprise, I saw that it was a diner. Not just a donut shop...a real diner with a real diner menu. We took a table in the back corner where we could see the entire place and look at most of the cool photos and documents they have hanging on the wall -- everything having to do with donuts. I ordered a normal breakfast of scrambled eggs, sausage, toast, potatoes, coffee, and my wife had coffee, an omelet, and an English muffin. The food tasted just as I expected: it had that deliciousness that only a diner can serve up. When I finished, I was stuffed. But seeing how much donut business they had going on, we decided to take a couple for later. I ordered a coffee cake donut, and my wife had a buttermilk donut. They went wonderfully with afternoon coffee. I was very happy to see that their donuts were not all dipped in honey. They had such a wide variety of donuts that it was hard to choose which to take. Meaning that I'll have to go back again...and again...Even more, they were bringing donuts from the back kitchen area, which implied to me that they were making them fresh, unlike so many other donut shops that get them shipped in from somewhere else. It's nice to know that it's a diner, and it's nice to know that I can pop in to get a donut and coffee if I feel the urge. I don't know what normal weekday business is like. On the Saturday that we popped in, they had a steady flow of traffic -- some people buying boxes of donuts to go, and others staying for breakfast. There didn't seem to be a problem with seating since orders were taken pretty quickly and served pretty quickly, and people were not just sitting around taking up space. First time here! Place was a Jolly Pirate Donut Shop years ago in the 70's and 8 years ago added sit down table service. Waitstaff was friendly and efficient. Menu has variety of sandwiches and lots of breakfast items to choose from. I ordered the beer brat with grilled onions and green peppers. It came with potato chips. Well... I was very excited to try this place. I had a BLT on a donut and it was AMAZING. However my husband got a burger and it was absolutely disgusting! It's tasted like very cheap processed frozen meat. I have never had that experience at any Diner. Turns out "from the waitresses mouth" the owner buys the cheapest frozen patties at Sam's Club. They take 2 of their honey dipped donuts and put a fried egg, slice of American cheese, and crispy bacon in between--it's so freaking good! Honey Dip is hands down my family's favorite donuts in Columbus. We like to eat donuts for Sunday breakfast. However, as an aspiring foodie, I can't accept eating from the same place every single time. So we compromise by eating Honey Dip Donuts 50% of the time and trying different donut places for the other 50% of the time. My personal favorite is their classic powdered cake donuts, but all their other donuts that I've tried have been great too. Their great service with quick pickups have been very nice during the pandemic. I know they serve diner food for breakfast and lunch too... so I'd like to try their other foods too someday once the pandemic winds down. Earlier this year I read an article on Columbus Navigator called "The Best Donuts In Columbus"... but that article didn't have Honey Dip listed. So in my mind that article is completely invalid. (plus they didn't mention Der Dutchman, DK Diner, or Lil Donut Factory and misspelled Tremont Goodie Shop as Treemont!) So yeah, ignore the other articles and go give Honey Dip a try. So a couple of days ago I got an urge for donuts and wanted something that was local so I tried Honey Dip again. It's unfortunate that they only serve food until 2:30, but I get it with them being a small business and all. I got a large chocolate milk and four donuts. The donuts were flaky on the outside but kind of dry on the inside. I did love the pumpkin and jelly though. Other than those two I did not get a lot of flavor, but maybe it's because I visited in the afternoon closer to close. I'll give em another shot later but I wasn't really impressed. Overall it was okay and I thought the prices of the donuts was fair ($6 for half a dozen donuts) compared to what some have said. Trying to find new places to get donuts for morning work meetings, Honey Dip was nearby. An interesting little diner that had the feel that it gets many regulars in each day. I got a dozen donuts. They were on the small side. Not really meant to be small, but not what one would typically see as a regular sized shape. I tried a chocolate filled powdered sugar donut. The donut itself was alright, it did not have very much filling in it. I got to the last two bites before I even got the to the chocolate filling.
