The delivery was on time, the employee was incredibly friendly and outgoing and each of our meals arrived perfectly packed with hot items separated from the cold so the raw fish didn't get warm from the steak and chicken bowls. For sure order the GF cookies even if that's not your normal eating style, they're delicious!! My only feedback is that my bowl with grilled chicken tasted like fish. The concept is pretty familiar where u pick a base, a protein and 5 other ingredients or you could choose from one of their selections like the OG Colorado, which included roasted corn, quinoa, green chilies, avocado, and pumpkin seeds, along with a house dressing, I added chicken and a base of half brown rice and half salad mix. The base choices include brown rice, white rice, chilled rice, noodles, and salad mix. The protein choices are grilled chicken, grilled steak, organic tofu, sushi, gray, salmon, sushi, gray, tuna, and tiger shrimp. I have been to bubu twice and have really liked my bowls both times -- one build your own with chicken and one paleo caveman bowl with tofu. Prices are on the higher end, but I can justify the price for an occasional healthy meal with quality ingredients that doesn't leave me feeling sleepy. They make them relatively quickly and it was the perfect lunch stop for us as we were at a professional conference across the street at the Sheraton. After walking around for some time trying to find lunch we decided on BuBu. It's not exactly out on 16th Street, so it was the large sign out there that caught our attention. It's certainly a healthy, light option for lunch. My friend was on a diet, so this was the best option for us. I had the Troy Aloha Poke bowl but substituted the protein for Chicken. I really enjoyed my bowl, and the dressing was delicious. This place is a grab and go kind of place, but they have plenty of seating too. Great value for the price. I came here last week with some coworkers, since one of my friends comes here all the time, and had a coupon. It's a little difficult to find from the outside, and if you need an accessible entrance you have to go into the first bank building, and take the elevator. If I had more time to review the menu I probably would have made my own bowl, but it was the lunch rush, and I didn't want to be "that girl" who held up the entire line. I had the Hawaiian poke, with salmon, and substituted the charred broccoli for hearts of palm. The staff was nice and helpful, and the food was ok. if I did dine here again I would probably order takeout, since the place itself is pretty cramped, and there aren't really any accessible places to sit, or wait for your food. I parked my scooter to wait for food and felt like I was in the way, and blocking things. For the price, there are much better poke places that have more toppings I like, so I would probably order from Rocky Fin, or Poke World, and only go to BuBu if other people want to go. read more

Damn, Bubu, coming in hot (or cold, since I tend to get the sushi grade tuna or salmon as my protein)! What a pleasant treat it is to have healthy options for lunch on this side of Downtown! It's kind of difficult to describe what this place has to offer. It's fancy pants rice and salad bowls. Kind of like poke, but not. You get your choice of base (rice, noodles, or salad, I tend to go for the salad mix), choice of protein (again, get the sushi grade raw salmon or tuna. The shrimp is also a healthy choice), and either a predetermined combo or make your own heaven of ingredients in a bowl. I tend to get the Southern California bowl with either salmon or shrimp. It comes with avocado (big chunk), cherry tomatoes, jicama (surprisingly refreshing), radish, charred broccolini, sunflower seeds, and chia seed lime dressing. The dressing is so refreshing and so light. I like to add a bunch of sriracha to it to kick it up a notch. I'm also a fan of the OG Colorado bowl. How can you go wrong with green chili? You can't. Paired with carrots, quinoa, avocado (again, big chunk), pumpkin seeds, and house dressing that I can't quite describe. It's tasty though, trust! Depending on the protein that you get, it may get a little pricy ($12 - 15 for a bowl), but you're paying for quality that will fill you up for the afternoon. Skip the poke places and come here for some darn good, fancy pants bowls. Oh, and they have gluten free soy sauce, if that's your kind of thing. In my opinion, give me ALL the gluten. After coming here a few times and trying different items, I feel like it's time to review this spot. First off, I love that they have so many dietary-restriction options such as GF and vegetarian. I always get the tofu on whatever bowl I'm getting since it's their main veggie protein - it's basic tofu. But it takes on the flavors of the bowl. I've had the Paleo before, and the apricots make it. Lately my favorite has been the Indian bowl. I love the spiced cauliflower and crunch the granola gives it. I also always get half brown rice and half mixed greens as the base - you get a little more that way (already sizable bowls though) but it's a good variety! The staff is always helpful and friendly. Mostly just weird. I'm a big fan of Troy Guard and get excited every time he opens up a new place. Recently learned about this new location in Rep Plaza and decided to check it out for lunch. I ordered the Southern California w/ chicken thigh, rice noodles, and added on charred corn and wonton strips. The bowl is supposed to come with avocado which was missing and it included broccolini, presumably to make up for the missing avo. I overheard on of the guys mention that all their avocados were very hard, so I understand them not including it. However, it would have been nice if they asked if I had a preference on what to substitute for it. This bowl is probably better with the rice or salad, rather than the noodles. It was pretty awkward to eat with the noodles, honestly. The flavor is good, and although I understand why there was no avo, it definitely would have put it over the top. Next time I'll ask about the avocados and go w/ rice. The chicken was perfectly cooked, not the teeniest bit dry! FYI The cookies are gluten free! (it does not mention this when you pre-order online). The soy marinated cucumbers are good, but unexpectedly spicy. Granted, I'm a wimp with spicy foods, but it would have been nice if they mentioned the chili flakes and anything else that gives it that kick. For my first time, it was pretty "meh." So happy Troy Guard decided to open a BuBu in Republic Plaza. Absolutely love the Larimer location, but now that this Bubu is closer I'm set. Lovely addition to the topish area of the mall, since the Union Station redevelopment became the hot bed for new restaurants. Protip: order online at your desk and pick it up. This spot is busy, so you avoid all the uncertainty anxiety trying to build the best bowl while there is a line forming behind you, instead you can take your time at your desk crafting your ideal bowl. Their order pick up process is quick and easy. *Side note, held a small internal grudge with Republic Plaza for closing their food court years back because it was housed some of the best Chinese food downtown, but BuBu was quick to erase that resentment. Tried online ordering this morning and their ordering system online was down. Once I was able to order online it was easy. They don't have descriptions of their dressings which would have been helpful since I've never been here before. Bowl sizes are okay. Prices are more then poke bowls at Tokyo joes. But what made me mad was they forgot my salmon. So I basically paid $13 for a bowl of 1/2 rice 1/2 noodles, some carrots and some pieces of avocado. Lesson learned if you order form here be sure to mix up your bowl and make sure everything you ordered is in there before you leave. Especially the main part of the bowl. Wow, some of these reviews are really harsh considering this place has never failed me yet. I've experienced some of the worst service downtown at places where you're paying a lot more than you would for Bubu. There are lunch restaurants on the mall where you are lucky if you even get a smile from them, but not here. These folks are always so warm and welcoming and ready to do what they can to make my meal perfect. I love the food and the option to eat healthy. The availability of options for toppings and mixins can be overwhelming, but I'm not complaining since that is one of the things I love about the place. I visited Bubu today, Thursday, Nov. 30, for the first time. I walked out of my way to find a place that served healthy food and I am so glad I did! The gentleman was so cool -- he said he really cares about ingredients and food allergies -- and he helped me pick a meal that wouldn't contaminate me. I should say the last two times I've ordered online I have still had to wait 20+ minutes in the little space the restaurant has. Clearly Bubu is popular but I had to lower my rating as a result. Today evidently my ticket hadn't printed so I was just waiting and they had a lot of tickets printing. I guess i will need to plan further ahead? Definitely more Hype than substance. Got about a tablespoon of meat, Rice or noodles are the filler for sure. I tried most of the dressings trying to find one that didn't assault my palette, tried the Thai bowl that everyone raved about, had a bite of my wife's OG Colorado...both sad interpretations of a Poke Bowl. The Tuna and Salmon both had a weird expired texture/temperature. The great reviews must come from people that are culinarily inept, like their menu. I ordered the paleo bowl online from this restaurant for the first time. I realized once I got back to the office that my order was missing all toppings except for the chicken and avocado. I was really exciting to try this place for the first time, but found myself disappointed when the green beans, bell peppers, dried apricots and almonds were all missing from my order.
