Got free breakfast from here from work recently - still hella mid even two years later smh - Pancakes: 4/10, so dry, and the pancake flight was like $30 for three hella mid pancakes :/ the jams on top were also just okay - Avocado toast: 3/10, the egg isn't very jammy, and something in this is extremely salty - I think the cheese. I only tried the potatoes on that, but they were really good and probably worthy of getting on their own. My favorite pancake was probably the banana pancake! Our food at Bubby's was very good; the only downsides were that the prices were on the higher side and service was weird. I had the Cobb salad which was delicious, and probably the best one I've had out to date. It had very very fresh crispy lettuce tomatoes and avocado, crispy bacon crumbs and tender roasted chicken, with perfectly hard boiled eggs and flakes of sea salt on top. I asked for goat cheese instead of blue cheese which they easily accommodated. It added a delicious creamy tang to the salad, and worked well with the red wine vinegar dressing. My boyfriend got the meatloaf which was so comforting and rich, with very buttery mashed potatoes and crispy onion slivers on top. The only downside of our experience was the service. When we arrived (at 5 on a weeknight) the entire restaurant was empty. We were seated right against a support beam in the center of the room which was a weird choice. I asked the waitress if we could move to a booth but she told us we had to ask the host. Again weird because the whole place was empty. I went up and asked the person who checked us in and he said it should be fine, so we relocated, but there seemed to be a miscommunication between the staff because our food was brought to the wrong table. Fun meal at downtown breakfast hot spot Bubby's. The line was 25 deep at 9:30 on a Monday. Fortunately they take reservations, which were honored to the minute. Seating is crowded. Tables are close and space is maximized to have as many tables as possible. Interior is old-time diner style with high ceilings, round lights and tables/chairs to match the era. Service is quick, if brusque. But hey, this is NYC. Time from order to service about 10 minutes. Tried the Abe Lincoln - a big plate with 2 eggs, pancakes, bacon, sausage home fries and grits. It was everything it was supposed to be and more. Eggs cooked perfectly sunny-side up. Fluffy pancakes, crisp bacon and sausage. Crispy and well-seasoned potatoes. Definitely more than you should eat for breakfast but worth every calorie. Others around the table tried a flight of pancakes - several varieties and several toppings. The sourdough pancakes are really good - thin and tart. All in all a very good breakfast. Not sure I'd wait in line for an hour, so a reservation is a must. We were a party of 2 and waited about 15 minutes before being seated inside, not long at all - though I was impressed that they had such a line on a weekday! Had heard a couple of time about this place and had to try it. Unluckily chose a wrong day to visit as we had to wait for about an hour in the queue outside on a Saturday afternoon (Brunch time). But it was absolutely worth it. We ordered avocado toast, veggie burger and a Pancake (with walnuts and banana toppings). Found the bread from the avocado toast to be soggy and had gone very soft but taste was delicious. Burger was definitely tasty and up to our expectations but would have enjoyed more sauces as it felt a bit dry after some point. And Pancake was the star of our meal. I really enjoyed the biscuits, pancake flight, iced coffee with oat milk, and bubby's breakfast combo (eggs, chicken sausage, house potatoes, and toast). Our server was diligent, attentive, and gave great recommendations on what dishes to order. As crowded as it was inside the restaurant, we were seated in a corner table, so we were still able to have great conversations while having brunch. The service was quick for each item ordered, which was also impressive due to the amount of seated customers. Bubbys falls on the positive side of that spectrum. We lucked out with a reservation and to be honest, if we had walked up and seen the line without one, there's no way that we would have stayed. We went to Bubby's to celebrate a few special moments with my manager and colleagues. We had a strong year this past fiscal and wanted to celebrate the team's accomplishments, as well as welcome a new hire who recently joined us. A few of us had never been before, but the line forming outside made it clear this spot was worth the wait, and it absolutely was. If I remember correctly, we were seated toward the back near the kitchen. The space is a bit cramped, but that's not something I personally mind since I like being able to interact and chat with the people I'm dining with. That said, it's something to note if you prefer a bit more space while eating. A coworker and I couldn't decide what to order, so we split the pancakes and a burger, and both were fantastic. I finally got to try Bubbys! There's almost always a line, but this time I got lucky. There was a spot at the bar and it's full service so that means PANCAKES. I came here with a mission to try them so I got the flight which is three pancakes, each with different toppings. First is CARAMELIZED BANANA & TOASTED WALNUTS, second NUTELLA, MIXED BERRY COMPOTE & WHIPPED CREAM, and third BLUEBERRY COMPOTE. All the toppings were amazing. Loved them all.. but the pancakes weren't consistent. One was for sure made with a different batter and had a ton of baking soda/powder. I just ate the topping on that one with the other pancakes. Was I full? YES. Was I satisfied? YES. Did it ruin my experience? NO. It was more than enough food even without the third pancake. I also got a hibiscus iced tea.
