It's a great spot for big pancakes and traditional American brunch classics! Servings are huge. The inside is busy and feels like a diner. However the line to get in is often really long on the weekends and you'll have to wait at least 30mins. read more

After hearing so much about Bubby's, I finally gave it a try, and it did not disappoint. The fried chicken was incredible--crispy, juicy, perfectly seasoned, and easily some of the best chicken I've had in NYC. The pancakes were just as good. They were light, fluffy, and melted in your mouth without feeling too heavy. Definitely worth ordering. The restaurant has a warm, lively vibe, and the service was friendly and efficient even though it was busy. It's easy to see why there's usually a wait. If you're looking for great comfort food in New York, Bubby's deserves a spot on your list. I'll definitely be back to try more from the menu. read more

Pancakes!! They are award-winning here for good reason! My favorite is the one with blueberry compote, with the berry nutella walnut one being a close second. The portion is big and I ended up with about half a pancake left. The atmosphere has great, classic brunch vibes. We made a reservation for 8am and arrived at 7:40 - there was a small queue already formed. By the time 8am rolled around, it went to the end of the block. I recommend arriving early if you don't have a reservation! read more

I've always wanted to come here and was finally able to do yesterday for brunch. It was a busy Saturday afternoon, but we were seated right away. The service was speedy. The restaurant was a bit crowded but the food came out quickly. My friend and I got the fried chicken. She got the fried chicken with the biscuit and I got the fried chicken with the pancakes. I ordered a hamburger for my son. The chicken wasn't good it had a chicken after taste (as if it wasn't properly cleaned or seasoned). My son's burger was dry and the fries were greasy. We ordered drinks and they were delicious. The food was a bit overpriced for the quality. read more

The service was great, the interior was cute and bright, and the photo booth was really fun! However the food was good but not great, to my party including myself. We got the fried macaroni and cheese balls which were great(incredibly cheesy) accompanied by buffalo sauce. The biscuits were soft and fluffy with a great flavor to them, and the included jams and butter were good as well. The fries were also good. While Bubby's is known for their pancakes, which is why we visited, it wasn't the best for us. We tried the chicken and pancakes. The chicken had some flavor, but not a lot and was filled with all spice in the skin/breading. It is not great to bite into whole all spice! Perhaps my order just had a lot, but I counted up to 15 in my entire plate. We were initially excited for the pancakes as it is what Bubby's is known for, however they were underwhelming and one guest in my party even compared them to an a large baked soft pretzel in flavor (spot on). While they weren't awful or off putting, it wasn't what we were expecting at all considering the hype. Another member of the party got a kebab meal and said the kebab was good and the rice was okay. When we arrived there was no wait and the restaurant was actually empty(about two other parties dining in total (we went on a weekday around 5 pm). The appetizers were the most loved thing for my party! While the pancake flight seems to be more popular, we weren't interested in all the toppings and hoped the pancakes could stand alone- but we were disappointed. Very lovely place otherwise! read more

When in New York you gotta check out Bubby's! The place was pretty chill, it felt very warm and friendly in there. They were playing some throwbacks which was great. The staff were super friendly and we got seated pretty quickly. Our food also came fairly quickly and it was just great service. Yall these pancakes r thick!!! The chicken pancakes were amazing. The chicken was so fresh and crispy. My friends had the pancake flights and that was also really good if you want a little bit of everything. Definitely go with the strawberry Nutella one. It was so much food we had to take it to go but overall I really enjoyed myself. read more

Left NYC and I'm still thinking about this spot! Everything about this place was just so nice. We honestly came here based on a few recommendations I saw regarding the pancakes (had no clue about the JFK Jr. connection until afterwards !). On a weekday at 11am, we waited about 20 minutes for a table for 2, no reservation. I really appreciated how efficient the staff was in keeping everyone organized and moving. The service was friendly but not overbearing. Of course we had to get the pancake flight which was as delicious as I dreamed about, and we also got the eggs Benedict. I only tried the potatoes on that, but they were really good and probably worthy of getting on their own. My favorite pancake was probably the banana pancake! I think breakfast for two came out to $60-$70 which is a little steep but I felt the food was worth it! Portions are nice and generous and I'd recommend coming hungry -- I had a hard time finishing the pancakes. Overall, excellent experience and I can't wait to come back! read more

Our food at Bubby's was very good; the only downsides were that the prices were on the higher side and service was weird. I had the Cobb salad which was delicious, and probably the best one I've had out to date. It had very very fresh crispy lettuce tomatoes and avocado, crispy bacon crumbs and tender roasted chicken, with perfectly hard boiled eggs and flakes of sea salt on top. I asked for goat cheese instead of blue cheese which they easily accommodated. It added a delicious creamy tang to the salad, and worked well with the red wine vinegar dressing. My boyfriend got the meatloaf which was so comforting and rich, with very buttery mashed potatoes and crispy onion slivers on top. The only downside of our experience was the service. When we arrived (at 5 on a weeknight) the entire restaurant was empty. We were seated right against a support beam in the center of the room which was a weird choice. I asked the waitress if we could move to a booth but she told us we had to ask the host. Again weird because the whole place was empty. I went up and asked the person who checked us in and he said it should be fine, so we relocated, but there seemed to be a miscommunication between the staff because our food was brought to the wrong table. Our waitress was nowhere to be found so we got up to get our food, but then a waiter noticed and brought it to us. Not a dealbreaker just strange. Good food though. read more

I am so glad I finally got to try Bubby's. It was worth getting up early and getting there shortly after they opened, because the line got quite long upon ordering and receiving our food. The classic breakfast was a hit at my table, with the bacon being extra crispy (upon request) and the potatoes pairing perfectly with the eggs and fresh made sourdough. The inside was not as expected (not in a bad way), yet was clean and unique, especially for the area and surrounding buildings. Our waitress was nice, checking in a few times yet allowing us to enjoy our meal. I would definitely go back! read more

Wonderful breakfast and surprised we were sat pretty fast for a table of 2 primetime Sat morning. The line moves fast, especially if you're not a big group. Loved our waitress, she was great, helpful and didn't rush us at all. The fried chicken and sourdough pancakes were excellent. Loved the sourdough pancakes, they had a real nice sour bite and were on the thinner side which was perfect. The fried chicken was good, but not great - a little dry for me unfortunately, so maybe 4 stars. My daughter had the Abe Lincoln which had a little bit of everything. The highlights were the potatoes (so savory), grits (amazing) and pork sausage too. Hers was 5 stars. read more

Came here for brunch on a busy Saturday morning with the lines out the door but we somehow, some way, ended up being seated pretty quickly as a group of six. This neighborhood staple, American flare, super popular brunch spot is all about cooking scratch made with a very homey feel. Their James Beard pancakes are a must. They're extra fluffy and filling, so sharing is highly encouraged. Be sure to order their flaky biscuits served with fresh butter and jam, you will thank me later. Also, their little coffee mugs are tbe CUTEST! We also ordered a little something savory and got the huevos rancheros (minus the eggs). Soooo flavorful and delicious! Loved this spot, the energy, the food and the great company we were with =) Also, we sat in the same area as The Devil Wears Prada, like what??? read more

This was one of my favorite places we ate while in New York City. So good in fact that when I got home I ordered a batch of their pancake mix to be delivered to my home. The food here was incredible, and if you don't eat the pancakes that's fine but prepare to live with that regret for the rest of your life. The restaraunt seems to always be busy, so I wouldn't say our service here was the best. But- the incredible food made up for it. Another fun thing about this restaurant is the vintage Photo Booth in the basement. Make sure to use it but be prepared to wait for your photo strip! Also- be sure to make a reservation! read more

Very cute exterior! We sat outside and on a weekday, there was available seating for walk-ins. I ordered the sourdough pancakes with mixed berries and nutella as a topping. The presentation was beautiful and the portion size quite fulfilling, I had to get a takeaway box. First bite is delicious, the sweetness of the nutella complements the tartness of the berries and pancakes. I do feel that as you continue eating them, the sourness becomes more apparent and somewhat challenging to get through. I'm interested in trying their other breakfast options or pancakes since the sourdough pancakes are ultimately not for me. I highly recommend the fries! They are thin and crispy!! read more

Came here with a group of friends on a Sunday around 2PM. There was a long line for both indoor and outdoor seating. They don't accept reservations, so there's no way around it, you just have to wait it out! Surprisingly enough, both lines moved fast. We waited in line for about ~15 minutes. Servers were quick and efficient. Food also came out very fast! If you are coming here for the pancakes, I highly recommend the pancake flight, comes with 3 different types of pancakes to taste. All were delicious. The omelet was also a decent size. We shared this amongst 3, and were satisfied. I'd come back again, to try their biscuits! If you're looking for a more chill place where you can drink and hang out for hours, this is not the place. Given the long wait, servers are fast and try to turn over the tables/place quick. read more

I don't know if I could love this place even more. The food is incredible...I'm still daydreaming about all that I had and can't wait to return. Their pancake flight: oh my goodness. YESSSS. Stick an IV in me of just this. Must get. Nice and fluffy, so fresh, 3 different flavors. Huevos rancheros: typically not my thing, but theirs was divine. I especially love their cilantro rice. So zippy in the best way. Fried chicken: it was nice, mostly juicy, but surprisingly bland to me. I wouldn't necessarily get this again. Deviled eggs: they're nice but not showstopping, so probably would try something else! Their service is also very quick and friendly, despite bustling with so many customers. Inside and outside seating. Both nice! read more

Great brunch spot and the food is always comforting! It's usually a less wait if you're a larger party. We've been multiple times now and we've waited no more than 5 minutes when we have larger parties of 6 or more. Wait times can get longer if you're a group of 2 or 3. Their fried chicken is some of the best I've had. The pancakes are always fluffy and very filling. I prefer the sourdough pancakes only because they're thinner and not as heavy. They have great fresh oj as well. The vibe inside is always fun and good energy in the mornings. read more

Fun meal at downtown breakfast hot spot Bubby's. The line was 25 deep at 9:30 on a Monday. Fortunately they take reservations, which were honored to the minute. Seating is crowded. Tables are close and space is maximized to have as many tables as possible. Interior is old-time diner style with high ceilings, round lights and tables/chairs to match the era. Service is quick, if brusque. But hey, this is NYC. Time from order to service about 10 minutes. Tried the Abe Lincoln - a big plate with 2 eggs, pancakes, bacon, sausage home fries and grits. It was everything it was supposed to be and more. Eggs cooked perfectly sunny-side up. Fluffy pancakes, crisp bacon and sausage. Crispy and well-seasoned potatoes. Definitely more than you should eat for breakfast but worth every calorie. Others around the table tried a flight of pancakes - several varieties and several toppings. The sourdough pancakes are really good - thin and tart. All in all a very good breakfast. Not sure I'd wait in line for an hour, so a reservation is a must. It is not inexpensive - $150 for 4 with no alcohol. My only disappointment was that there wasn't challah French toast and matzo brie. It is called Bubby's after all. read more

Lucked into a reservation here at 8am while in NYC for breakfast. We grabbed the subway and headed here, showing up about 7:35am. With them opening at 8am, we had a wait and I realized there was an area to wait for a table inside seating. So I stood in that area and in what felt like the blink of an eye-- there was a line behind us. At 8am we walked in and were sat quickly. I ordered a coffee (they didn't have apple juice) and the table came with water. I ordered the Bubby's breakfast which comes with eggs - I did scrambled with cheese - a slice of toast, home potatoes and bacon. This was a solid spread - and I really really liked the potatoes. We also shared the pancake flight which had banana and walnuts, Nutella with raspberry, and blueberry. These were very good as well. Overall it was good here - but I found myself unsure why it's such a busy place with a hard reservation. Would recommend and would come back. read more

Bubby's is an excellent elevated brunch spot that serves brunch every day from 8am-4pm. I went for brunch on a Wednesday at 11am. There was a short line outside. We were a party of 2 and waited about 15 minutes before being seated inside, not long at all - though I was impressed that they had such a line on a weekday! I went with 1 friend, and we each got the Bubby's Breakfast with scrambled eggs, home fries and sourdough toast. I kept the bacon, and my friend substituted it with sausage. We also got the Pancake Flight to share - 3 James Beard pancakes with 3 kinds of fruity/sweet toppings. The Bubby's Breakfast was delicious! They've taken standard comfort food breakfast plate items and elevated them. The flavors are great and balanced. The James Beard pancakes are based off of a James Beard recipe. They are thick and fluffy, and the the cream and fruity toppings taste fresh. It's a pretty large dish, great for sharing! The restaurant was bustling but not noisy, and the service was friendly and efficient. It is clean and comfortable. It's nice but feels casual. They also have some outdoor seating. I have already recommended Bubby's to others, and I plan to return when I'm in town! read more

We waited about 30 minutes for a table outside, but it was totally worth it! There's lots of space inside too but it was a beautiful day so we opted for the outdoor line. Our waitress was super sweet, helpful, and didn't push us pace wise despite the long lines. Their cold brew was delicious! I got the biscuits and chili sausage gravy which was absolutely divine (the potatoes were so crispy and tasty too). My friend got the huevos rancheros and loved her meal. Since the Clinton st baking Co's waitlist was full, we decided to try Bubby's. There's always a line half a block long whenever we drive by here, so I was curious about their world famous pancakes. And late in the afternoon, there was no wait. The service was prompt and friendly. The interior is cute, but they could use some sound absorbing boards on the ceiling and walls because it's super loud in there. The music was loud and I think their speaker system is kind of old and the people's voices just bounced off everywhere. And if there's one loud table even a few feet away, they kind of take over. I was too distracted by the din, and it was not a comfortable dining experience. The two seater tables are kind of close, typical NY restaurant spacing. Unfortunately, I made a mistake in ordering. I ordered the sourdough pancakes because it sounded interesting and different and apparently sourdough is healthy for you. The menu does state that they are chewy, but I thought it could be a good thing. The other dish was an omelet. Forget which one, not super memorable as it's just an omelet with veggies and cheese. Um... the sourdough pancakes were, um... they were awful. The texture was gummy and chewy, like you are eating 3 layers of underdone crepes. I should have stuck with their classic pancakes. The lady next to me ordered fried chicken and pancakes and they looked much better although the pancakes looked thicker than your average pancakes, so I don't know if they are fluffy or dense. Anyway, I'll never order sourdough pancakes again. However, I have to admit that my gut felt very comfortable and happy after eating them. But I'm sure people are not lining up for these pancakes. I wish I had gone with their classic pancakes but I don't think I'd go back because the noise level inside is just too much for me. read more

Actually the most overhyped pancakes in nyc. I dined in two years ago and had their pancakes - so dry. Got free breakfast from here from work recently - still hella mid even two years later smh - Pancakes: 4/10, so dry, and the pancake flight was like $30 for three hella mid pancakes :/ the jams on top were also just okay - Avocado toast: 3/10, the egg isn't very jammy, and something in this is extremely salty - I think the cheese. Disappointing. The tomatoes and bread were good tho, but the bread wasn't that crispy (but this is prob due to it being catered and not dine in) - Bacon: 4/10, I really wanted to like this, but it was SO inanely salty. Loved everything except the burnt potato hash on my Griddle Special. My friend and I got there around 2pm on a Saturday and were met with a pretty short line for indoor seating. Plus the weather was great and we waited about 10-15min before being seated. Once we got in we had to wait another minute while they cleared the table and I will say there was a lot of bustling and noise. It was difficult to chat across from each other but with good food you don't speak too too much. We decided to get the watermelon lemonade which was amazing and so refreshing with a subtle sweetness and little to no sourness. Of course we got the pancake flight that measured up to the hype. The fluffiness was superb and the whipped cream was a delicious touch. Of the flight my fave was the nutella/strawberry/raspberry (despite my dislike raspberry!). Now to balance the sweetness, we had the veggie mac n cheese (creamy goodness and well flavored *highly recommend) and griddle special (perfectly scrambled egg and crispy bacon). Bubby's was great and service was as accommodating as it was attentive. read more

Had heard a couple of time about this place and had to try it. Unluckily chose a wrong day to visit as we had to wait for about an hour in the queue outside on a Saturday afternoon (Brunch time). But it was absolutely worth it. We ordered avocado toast, veggie burger and a Pancake (with walnuts and banana toppings). Found the bread from the avocado toast to be soggy and had gone very soft but taste was delicious. Burger was definitely tasty and up to our expectations but would have enjoyed more sauces as it felt a bit dry after some point. And Pancake was the star of our meal. I am not a fan of sweet breakfast, but I totally get the hype. Absolutely loved it and will be back soon again! They also have outdoor seating area which was accessible on the day we went as it was a sunny day. The place is pretty packed (specially on weekends). Bubbys is worth the hype, unfortunately. Sometimes "viral" places are totally overrated and sometimes they deserve every person who walks in the door. Bubbys falls on the positive side of that spectrum. We lucked out with a reservation and to be honest, if we had walked up and seen the line without one, there's no way that we would have stayed. This place runs like a well-oiled machine. No flaws in service or food. Atmosphere is adorable and they sell lots of great souvenirs/take home items including their famous pancake mix. We went to Bubby's to celebrate a few special moments with my manager and colleagues. We had a strong year this past fiscal and wanted to celebrate the team's accomplishments, as well as welcome a new hire who recently joined us. A few of us had never been before, but the line forming outside made it clear this spot was worth the wait, and it absolutely was. If I remember correctly, we were seated toward the back near the kitchen. The space is a bit cramped, but that's not something I personally mind since I like being able to interact and chat with the people I'm dining with. That said, it's something to note if you prefer a bit more space while eating. A coworker and I couldn't decide what to order, so we split the pancakes and a burger, and both were fantastic. The pancakes especially stole the show. Once we learned they were James Beard-inspired, it all made sense. They were incredibly fluffy, and honestly, I'm still dreaming about them.
