We stopped into The Odd Sister really quick before a gig and honestly had such a good experience! Matthew took great care of us and gave us a heads-up that since we got there around 4 instead of 4:30, they were still serving the bites menu. We ordered the soppressata pizza + added hot honey, and THAT was easily my favorite. The meat was thinner than your typical pepperoni, the sauce had great flavor, and the hot honey was the perfect finishing touch. I would 100% come back just for that pizza. We also tried the short rib fried rice, which was really tasty. I felt like it needed a little extra sauce--we added soy sauce, but personally I would've loved some teriyaki on there. The fries came with truffle aioli and listen... that aioli was a BANGER. 10/10 For my drink, I got the lychee martini. It was super fragrant and definitely different from the lychee flavor I'm used to, but I still really enjoyed it. One thing I have to give them credit for: the food came out FAST. Every time we added something, it felt like it was at the table almost immediately. The restaurant was also pretty clean overall, although we did have one little fruit fly make an appearance once the food came out. The atmosphere gives elevated happy hour that can easily transition into date night. We were there while the sun was still out, but they were already lighting the candles for the evening, which gave the space a really warm, intimate feel. I really wanted to come back for the black kale Caesar but didn't get the chance, so clearly I have an excuse to return. 5/5 for me -- great service, fast food, good drinks, and that soppressata pizza is worth going back for. And because it's NYC, they were filming Netflix's Forever right outside and I spotted Michael Cooper Jr. walking by. So, my first experience was my co workers telling me to try their burger, because it's the best burger they've ever had. I did and I definitely Didn't think it was the best burger or even close to it. Now, it's based on people's palates Obviously, but I felt this burger was bland. On top of me not enjoying the burger, my co worker and I each ordered one, here's medium, mine medium well. They put the wrong burgers in our bags and I really dislike a pink burger and she doesn't like a fully cooked one. We had already took a bite out of them, but once we realized we swapped. I let the woman that gave us our order know, she just stared at me fie a minute and it looked like she had to think about if she should even respond. Which was interesting. As someone that's worked in food service, a simple acknowledgement, apology and letting the kitchen know would be a better response. The only thing I enjoyed were the fries... the place is cute. Gave them another try today, vibe was pleasant but the $24 kale salad with shrimp was also not great. Not visually or flavor wise. I really wanted to like the hummus, but unfortunately it was a huge disappointment. I ordered it after walking past someone eating it outside because it looked so good. Unfortunately, looks were deceiving. The hummus had almost no flavor. It was topped with pine nuts, za'atar, and paprika, so I expected it to be full of flavor, but it was surprisingly bland. The texture was also very grainy. I kept adding salt, hoping it would help, but it barely made a difference. I also asked for a side of olive oil, which honestly tasted better on its own than when mixed into the hummus. The pita was fresh, but it also lacked flavor and had a layer of cornmeal or some other coarse grain on the bottom that just didn't work. The vegetables ended up being the best part of the plate. I boxed everything up to go but ended up throwing it away shortly after I left because I simply wasn't enjoying it. The service was just as disappointing as the food. I thought about sending the dish back, but decided not to. That said, it would have been nice if the bartender had checked in at least once, especially after seeing me repeatedly trying to season the hummus. Then again, the lack of attentiveness seemed to be the standard throughout my visit. Maybe the other menu items are better, but based on this experience, I don't see myself coming back. read more

I discovered this restaurant while hungry on the streets of New York. It seems to be either newly opened or not wellknown, but it's an absolute gem. I began my meal with the gamberi al Brandy, which is a must-try. The sauce is perfectly tart, complementing the jumbo shrimp, and the red beans, which weren't on my usual list of pairing, became one of my favorite shellfish dishes. The pasta was exceptional--classic Bolognese made by Nonna. My server was fantastic, though I regrettably do not remember his name, but he and the service assistant always ensured I was satisfied. What truly saved my experience was the hostess and the ambiance.... I arrived a little before 6p to a nearly packed restaurant and only one seat at the bar. I took it and waited to be acknowledged by the bartender. My friend came and we got caught up yappin' and still no order taken. Finally Jordan took our drink orders and we were back on track. Visited Odd Sister for a Wednesday dinner/drinks. The space is deceivingly small (there's a bunch of space in the back), but there is no harm in making a reservation. Their happy hour ends at 6pm and we did make sure to take advantage of it, specifically with their martinis. I nursed a couple lychee martinis through the night and I can say - they have the most unique lychee martinis ive ever had! They're a little stronger on the lemon with a hint of lychee but I didn't mind. I thought they were absolutely delicious and would definitely recommend you give them a try. I will say, a downside is that their drink service was a little slower than you would expect. May be that they were short-staffed, but it was little annoying knowing that you had to put your next drink order down as soon as you got your last one...   For food I had their fries (very tasty and come with an delicious aioli) and the margherita pizza; a pretty standard restaurant pizza. Nothing outstanding but also not super offensive. The restaurant is very crowded although got seated fast and the vibes were so cozy and inviting inside with comfortable chairs although the booth seats you have to jump up a bit to sit in. The prices on the website/online are not updated, for lunch, and quite pricer than expected. the margarita pizza was $20 (very yummy and honestly perfect aside from too much crust, not enough pizza, and only one basil). The steak and eggs was $35 although online it said brunch price was $28 so that was a substantial increase and although menu said "fries" their version of fries is just small roasted potatoes, although delicious, took by surprise. First time at this place and definitely not the last! Hands down one of the best food experiences I've had. The ricotta pancakes are to die for. I ordered the eggs and bacon breakfast platter, and the eggs were perfectly fluffy and the bacon had just the right amount of char. I went here on a Sunday afternoon, it was super busy but I got 2 seats right away. This is a great place to people watch. The only thing is it can get a little loud. The service was pretty good! The atmosphere was nice and kind of hidden. You wouldn't think they have a whole back area at first glance. The food was good. I had the steak and eggs and it wasn't too overwhelming. It's a 6oz steak with 2 fried eggs. My friend had the margherita pizza, that was also very good. We also both had a cold vanilla latte. It was on the sweeter end for me but still great. The servers switched mid lunch without letting us know and the first guy just vanished without any explanation or follow up. Everything took very long, to place order, to get food/drinks. The food itself was very bad. The hashbrowns tasted like the Trader Joe's ones except cooked with old oil. The eggs were grey-ish in tone. The food wasn't hot. Wanted to do a little shopping and people watching in SoHo so we were walking the streets and spotted this gem. Can't say enough great things about this restaurant! It was brunch on a Saturday and we were promptly seated by a friendly hostess. Sitting across from the bar in the back of the restaurant. It was clean, beautifully decorated and had a great ambiance with candles all around. The food was amazing. Short Rib Fried Rice is a signature dish with Slow Roasted Short Rib, on top of Jasmine Rice with some amazing fresh herbs and spices. This was unique and special. The Odd Sister Burger was really good too. An 8oz beef patty with sharp cheddar, lettuce and tomato and served with crispy hot French fries. Bloody Mary's were special with the perfect amount of horseradish. Our server was very friendly and made sure we had everything we needed. She was very patient while we waited for my son to show up. Lots of foot traffic but not too much to disturb our meal. Our server was quick and patient with very helpful recommendations. I settled on 'The Dune', a tequila drink with mezcal and pineapple. Delish! The appetizer was popcorn chicken, made withva homemade sesame sauce and the main dish was crab linguine. The linguine was creamy with a little spice. Again, delish! Everything was made in-house, from the lemonade to the pasta to the creamy aioli and spicy mayo. Service was spot on and we were never left wondering were our server went. Miso Hummus - the pita bread was very fluffy and flavorful. There were only four long slices of pita bread and not enough to get through half of the hummus. We asked if we could get a little more and to our surprise, they charged us for it. Beet salad - the beet salad flavors were not balanced well. It felt very bland.
