Wedge salad was fine but not a hearty iceberg one like in a steakhouse. Signature raclette dish just not cheesie enough for $25. Was expecting alot more. Checked this one of our list...

Located just off the bustle of King St., Brut sits unassumingly among the Old Town townhomes. You could easily walk past, and not notice it at all. But, if you've dialed in Brut as your destination, be prepared to step in to an oenophile's wet dream. The establishment is both a bottle shop and a wine bar. Every bottle in the joint is carefully curated. There is no junk...no fluff...no quid to subsidize quo...all excellence, from any country or region your heart may desire. Do your Christmas shopping here, for sure. That shopping is going to make you thirsty, so pony up to the small but well appointed bar. Its no easy thing to find a bar with a good "wine by the glass" list, but Brut manages that task with ease. From your sauvignon blancs, through the pinots, to full bodied reds...take a flight of fancy, and walk home well fortified. Since the bar is small, and seats are at a premium, the owner Dustin does a masterful job of weeding out the Riff-raff. Trust me when I say that watching it is far better than TV. I cannot recommend this cool little spot more highly. Maybe I'll see ya there sometime!

March 2021 - COVID Review:…read more I was invited to attend Pastry Codex's French Macaron Class that's hosted at the lounge and it was a great time! We all wore masks and had socially distanced and disinfected stations! Chef Michael is very knowledgeable and patient with all of us since we were all beginners. I know how finicky these little cookies can be, but I enjoyed learning how to make them and French buttercream from scratch! I may still be buying from the pros in the meantime.... but still really cool to say that I was able to make a batch that didn't look half bad! At least they tasted great though. He offers many other types of baking classes that I hope to be able to try my hands at in the future! Ms. Peacock's is on the backside of The Boardroom and there's a garage attached where you can pay for hourly parking. If you go on a Sunday, street parking is free!

The Board Room sits on the other side of the exit/bathrooms. I have visited this location for multiple private events. I recommend Ms. Peacocks for special occasions, dates, and a night on the town. Superb service, private rooms, adjacent to a lit location, good food selection, and more! My wine club anniversary event was set here in 2022. We had a sparkling and champagne tasting. The list was curated by the staff. Written description of each glass helped move the day's event along. Private events, such as the Bourbon and Bubbles, and Sip n' Script make this such a fun venue for memorable interaction.

I believe the tent comes with one of the charcuterie boards - Le Grand Cru Platter. I honestly thought it was alright, not the best sprays I've had and the bread was hard. I'd give it a 7/10. The winery cakes were PHENOMENAL!!!!!! I was IN LOVE. They apparently soak it for many hours in their wine. I highly recommend it! Both the strawberry and vanilla one was great, but I really enjoyed the strawberry cake. Apparently you have to order 3 days in advance. The tent was actually pretty warm if you kept it zipped up. There were two heaters in the tent. I think we got the tent for 12 people, but it comfortably fit 10 people. Overall I highly recommend this winery, I would TOTALLY come back !

Could not ask for a better parking situation. Ordering was almost seamless. We got there at 1 o'clock, middle of the day on 4/18, plenty of empty tables. We went up to the bartender to take our order, and then gave them our table number and they delivered it. The QR code on the table only shows you the menu. It is not used for ordering, which was odd these days. Chill and super awesome bartender with the mother of all hickeys. Good pours. No Skrewball :-( I had the special, two hot dogs with tater tots. When it said double, I wasn't sure if that meant double the tater tots, but that meant actually two hot dogs. Really good. I also had the other special, the two pancakes. I meant to get the sausage, but they gave me the bacon instead. It was great. Well worth it. I thought that was the better value of the meals. They got a lot of board and card games. Very laid-back atmosphere, 90s and early 2000s pop on the music, comfortable seating, and good food. The prices were reasonable. This is one area that I think we are just going to have to deal with for quite some time. The give-and-take of prices,. Smothered tater tots, pancakes, two hotdogs with some tater tots, and three drinks came out to ~$55. NOT. BAD. Was it worth it? If this had been just a normal restaurant, I would've said no. It would've been more worth it if it had been about $40. But... nobody made us pay to use the board games, or the card games, and we sat there for three hours and had a really good time. So based on that, the fact they provide a venue for playing these games and hanging out for a few hours makes it all worth it. Really strange thing was that there was this balding guy with a beard that randomly showed up as a waiter. We had been dealing with a bartender, so this guy, kind of rude came on to us and we weren't sure what to do with him. He kind of blocked me from paying the bartender. Rude. Not a hangout spot every day, but certainly once a week, maybe once a month or more, definitely a place to meet up if you got a group. I was really surprised by the diversity of the people that were there. A lot of chess players, a whole table of middle-aged women, lots of different people playing games. I would give them five stars, but not quite perfect. The rude guy at the end was so odd. Otherwise, great location, great parking, the food was good, good value, and fun.

It seemed the valet used the street for parking as well given the double parked cars blocking me in as I tried to leave. I had called to make a reservation in advance as the reservation site noted no availability for some reason. No issues with checking in and being seated in a timely manner, even showing up a little early in our case. The restaurant was very open and elegant, situated alongside the Riggs Hotel which has some hidden history to discover. Our server, Clemente, was phenomenal. Very attentive, not overbearing, and answered all our questions. My wife and I split a salad that we loved although felt it could have been more flavorful. It was missing something that we couldn't pinpoint whether it was croutons, tomatoes, etc although we still enjoyed it. I had the Steak Frites which came with french fries and I swapped for creamed spinach that was so delicious. My wife who isn't a fan of creamed spinach ended up eating a good portion. We ordered a side of brussel sprouts that was also good, a little sweet, but well flavored. We followed dinner up with coffee that hit the spot, along with a chocolate dessert that Clemente brought to celebrate our anniversary. It was a lovely evening thanks to Clemente and the team. We will definitely return for another experience.
