I'd been wanting to check out this speakeasy for a while. I loved the hidden entrance, and the decor is so cozy, warm, and inviting. It's spacious, which was a nice bonus. The tables are really cute, although ours was a little on the small side. Our server was great and happy to answer all of our questions. The cocktails were delicious, and I really appreciated them accommodating my cherry request :-) I ordered the chicken sliders with fries (which are fried in beef tallow instead of seed oils). The sliders were pretty good! The fries were tasty too, but I think they could've been cooked a bit longer for a little extra crispiness. It's a cute spot/great atmosphere. I have been to Lone Oak Brewing plenty of times. However, I have never visited Fallen Oak. It was great. It is a small, intimate, and quaint establishment. You will feel like you are at home because it is so comfortable there. When we walked in we were immediately greeted by the hostess who offered us a tour and then showed us to our seat at the bar. At the bar they have tv's where you can watch games or you can sit at a table and take in the view of open land. The drinks were astounding. I ordered the gold rush with honey, bourbon and lemon and my friend ordered a mule. Both of our drinks were very tasty. I really enjoyed the gold rush because it wasn't too strong or sweet. They really captured the sweet spot of the drink. The mule was tasty as well. It had the perfect amount of ginger beer to vodka. The food was delicious as well. We ordered the Bruschetta and the Garlic Knots with crab dip. OMG! The crab dip was to die for. The garlic knots were cooked to perfection. The bruschetta was great as well as the bread was perfectly toasted. The service was impeccable. The staff were very friendly, and knowledgeable about the menu and the business. The were very attentive and really catered to our every need. Unfortunately, their was a medical emergency occurring during our visit but they handled the situation with grace and compassion. It was such a beautiful day to visit! The outdoor area is gorgeous, family friendly, and has a great atmosphere. The speakeasy is quiet, adults only, and the music playlist was so good. Our waitress and hostess were both kind, welcoming, and attentive. The inside was beautifully decorated, and even the restrooms were nice. The drinks were delicious. I definitely would have had another if I wasn't driving so far home. The only disappointment was the food. I ordered the brisket sliders, but the top bun looked like a piece had been pinched off, and the slider I tried was cold like it had just come out of the refrigerator. I switched it for a Caesar salad wrap and fries. The wrap was okay, but the fries were soggy and not very good. I coordinated logistics with Melissa, the director of special events, who was professional, attentive, and quick to respond to the many questions I had leading up to our office retreat. Since we were using the boardroom for work on our laptops, we didn't have space to order food, but my colleagues did order beverages. Our server checked on us frequently, refilled our water, and made sure we had everything we needed throughout the retreat. My only critique is that the boardroom occasionally got loud due to staff running up and down the stairs or noise from the level above. Melissa suggested in lieu of ordering food during our retreat, to transition into the Speakeasy upstairs afterwards. She connected me with Brian, the general manager, who reserved a table for us and helped coordinate our appetizers pre‑order. I requested that the appetizers be ready at 6 p.m. for our reservation, and they were waiting for us when we arrived. We enjoyed flatbreads, sliders, and charcuterie boards--my favorite was the chicken sliders. I went to Fallen Oak with my wife and our friends to have lunch and enjoy the nice weather. We were seated outside on the porch, which gave us a beautiful view of the brewery and the fields around it. Our server took great care of us, checked in often, and gave us recommendations on their favorite apps and dishes. I ordered the salmon and an Oaktoberfest märzen. The salmon was good, though it could have been pulled off the heat a little sooner since it came out very well done. Aside from that, I liked it and it was a nice change from my usual unhealthy choices lol. For the table, we ordered the bruschetta, crab dip, and brisket sliders. Love the speakeasy "Whispering Spirit." It's such a vibe! There's a separate entrance and exit! The decor and layout is nice - tables, couches, or the bar. I've been to Lone Oak before and I love the additon of this space! It's laid back and not too pretentious. Can dress up or be more casual. It's dimmed lighting but not too dark! Perfect for a date, night out with friends, or just solo. Apparently this is Montgomery County's only speakeasy. I'm glad I decided to kick off Virgo season here! We didn't have reservations. We sat at the bar and had some drinks. I tried both of their old fashioned - the smoked maple and the regular old fashioned. Both were great but the maple was my favorite. They also have gin and vodka. They do offer a whiskey flight - 1 oz pours of each (maple, bourbon and rye). There's food but didn't try any this time. Jon and Steve are the best. They were so much fun to chat with. I can't belive this place has been here almost a year. I had them on my list for awhile. I will be back soon. First and foremost, I love Lone Oak. They have great beer and they've made such a cool "campus" at their location. There is a place for everything. The Fallen Oak distillery is another great addition for the space. It's its own separate building that is 21+ and gorgeous- right next door to the brewery. It's really beautiful inside and there are so many cool touches including the bar tables made of the tree trunk and the bathrooms which are clean and cute. The speakeasy entrance behind the bookshelf is the coolest. All the decor is top notch. It also sits on the hill so there is a great span of people-watching seats out front. The drinks are pretty good. I think their expressions could use some age and perhaps some tweaking, but as these are all pretty new- I think they did a good job. The cocktail menu is fun and seasonal. I love LOVE the ruby red cosmo and also the espresso martini. The crushes were great as well. I loved memorial day that they had a "rocket pop" drink. Having a specialty drink to promote is always welcome when I look at a drink menu. it makes it fun and feel special! The food is good but the process is just really disjointed. You have food trucks, the distillery food, and the brewery food, but you can't access them all from one place. It wasn't clear if we were allowed to get something from the food truck and bring it back to our table on the patio of the distillery. There should be something that says that on the menus and there should also be a link to the other (permanent) food options that are offered. The first time we were there, I thought the service as AWFUL. Really bad. Like 5 bartenders standing around and nobody will make eye contact with you and i literally had to be like "hi! excuse me. hello?" when there was NO OTHER CUSTOMERS in the tasting room. But this time I thought our server was really doing a great job. We kept her busy for sure but I know she had other tables. So I won't ding on the service too much. There DID again seem to be a lot of people just standing around the service bar area. Find something to do! Its just not a great look to have so many people twiddling thumbs. On a recent visit, we had dinner. Not our first time here as we have enjoyed the food and have had great service on previous visits. This visit, however, seemed a bit off. Our waiter started off on the wrong foot when my friend asked if a particular item was gluten free. First, he said yes, and then a few seconds later, he changed his mind and shared that he didn't know what gluten free meant. I am glad he informed us of that, but my thing is this: If you don't know something for sure, it is best not to guess, especially for something like that. Eventually, my friend got the answer they needed. We noticed there have been a few changes made to the menu since our last visit, and I decided to order one of those new items. I got the Crabcake Flatbread - crab dip, mozzarella, lump crab meat, tomato, scallions, old bay, and aioli. It was cut into 8 pieces (like mini pizza size), and I remember when I had my first bite, I wanted more - it was so tasty. The combination of everything blended well together. I am hoping I can enjoy that again, but at the HH price. I enjoyed a Mocktail called "Daybreak". It had grapefruit, cranberry, ginger, lime, simple syrup, and mint. I liked that the ginger was subtle and not overpowering and the drink itself was not overly sweet, but just right. My friend ordered the alcoholic version of the same drink and enjoyed it. For dessert, the choices were Vatche's Baklava, Key Lime Pie, Red Velvet Cake, Raspberry Sorbet and Gelato with two flavors: Salted Caramel and Cookies N Cream. I got the Cookies N Cream Gelato - two nice sized scoops, and I could taste it too (really enjoyed it). One of my friends got the baklava but after a few pieces, they didn't want any more of it. I knew something was up when it looked like they were having so much difficulty in cutting it with the provided utensil. They added that it was not layered and that it didn't seem like baklava. I wonder if they'll bring back the marble cake. The food and drinks were still great overall. The person we had on this visit must have been new as it showed (I won't go into more detail). However, that won't deter us from coming here, as I am sure we will be back again. read more

A fun place to visit and hang out. The new distillery portion is so much more peaceful than the outdoors and beer location because of the amount of people and the absence of children. Better atmosphere to enjoy cocktails and talk. We actually started at Lone Oak and pregamed with a beer, but the amount of noise was unbearable at the time. We had reservations at 3 so we waited until that time to enter Fallen Oak's "secret" room or "speakeasy" side. The interior is nice. New. There is a variety of seating. Service is nice and quick. Food for me was alright. Just glad that there are options when drinking. If you have a smaller table, it may not hold the food plate as well. May be a bit tight. Luckily, our server kept coming over to clear plates as soon as he could. So, I make cocktails at home and am pretty verse with cocktails. For me, I may be a bit biased. The cocktails here are on the sweeter side, but they don't skimp on the amount like other places may have. Presentation is alright. Sad they didn't use a clear ice cube. I actually forgot to try the cherry, but they look like Luxardo cherries (the gold standard). Fun new place that's worth a try. read more

It's located in a separate building next to Lone Oak Brewery, with outdoor seating that gives off a relaxed, rustic tasting room feel--perfect for hanging out on a nice day. It has that DC cocktail bar vibe, which is a nice touch without needing to leave Olney. Lisa, our server, was friendly and attentive. The seasonal cocktail menu had a good mix--we tried: * Espresso Martini - smooth and not too sweet * Garden Breeze - light and refreshing * Cloudberry - fruity and balanced * Here Comes the Sun - citrusy and bright * Madhatter - fun and flavorful All were well presented and enjoyable. We ordered: * Crab dip with garlic knots and crab flatbread - both solid choices * Maple bourbon sliders - good flavor, but a bit dry * Strawberry salad - okay overall, but we were surprised the chicken was crispy. It would've been helpful if that had been mentioned, or if there was an option for grilled. The chicken itself was a bit dry. * Bruschetta - a miss for us; could've used more flavor and fresh herbs. One hiccup: their hosting system seemed a bit disorganized. When our friend arrived and asked for our reservation under my name, the host couldn't locate it and had no idea we were already seated--despite having just sat us down. Our friend ended up having to call us to confirm we were inside. Parking is free, but there's a short walk on gravel and grass from the lot to the building--wear comfortable shoes. They also sell bottles of their house-distilled liquor, and prices are pretty reasonable. All in all, Fallen Oak is a good local spot for a drink with friends, especially when you want that cocktail bar ambiance without heading into the city. You should definitely make a reservation for the speakeasy section. I'm not even sure I remember what the other side of the distillery looks like. The speakeasy side is very grown and sophisticated though. Food was excellent. It being our first time we tried a variety of items including the crab dip that came with garlic knots, the brisket sliders with the delicious Maple Bourbon BBQ sauce, and even the salad was fresh and had great flavors. The drinks are good and strong. They are made on site and they taste very refreshing and the bartenders do not hold back. We would definitely come back to try more of the menu. read more

Really nice distillery. First time visiting, we saw outside at a picnic table first and then moved to a table under the covered area. The food and drinks were good. Service was pretty good even though they were busy. The dessert was the best part for me, baklava with honey graham ice cream. The midsummer bloom cocktail was great too! Lots of open seating areas. Wow!! Love, love love this space - felt like our party was being pampered the entire time. Such a cozy hideaway for the winter with a fantastic fireplace cozy booths and chairs, and a very generous bar. Even the bathrooms are gorgeous. When making reservations, especially if you are just planning to drink and nibble, request fireside or one of the conversation tables, so you don't get stuck at a bistro table during busy times. Waitstaff was plentiful and attentive. Drinks are in the $18 range and entrees are $25-$30, which honestly in the current dining environment, is an extremely fair price for the luxurious surroundings. Drinks are a generous pour as well. Perfect for an intimate date night, small corporate party or rehearsal dinner (if you're renting the place out), or drinks with a friend if you want a place where you can talk. Most tables are for 2 or 4 - if you're with a larger group you'll be at the (nice but less cozy) bistro tables next to the bar. Can't wait to go back! read more

My wife and I recently won a reservation for Fallen Oak's Bootleggers Lounge private space, and were able to cash it in this weekend. The service there was EXCELLENT. Aidan was so attentive with getting our orders and so friendly, he truly was a superstar. Every cocktail we tried was stellar, from standards like the Black Manhattan to the fun warm tiki blend of their seasonal Vacay Mode. They also had some drinks using guava, and I could've had 1 million more of those. The food was great too; we tried the sliders, the chicken pep flatbread, and the charcuterie board, and I'd get any of them again. While we were there, most people were at the brewery side, Lone Oak, and while their beers are also fantastic, I'd recommend for any newcomer to try Fallen Oak as well, it's worth it. read more

So many amazing things to mention about this place. I kicked off my birthday weekend with a reservation at the speakeasy here -- I knew this, but my few friends who I invited did not. I don't want to spoil the surprise... but you're definitely in for a treat. All I'm going to say is... they have great taste in their color choices :). They have the Lone Oak beers, in addition to a variety of whiskey, vodka, and gin (their newest addition) cocktails. And to be a speakeasy... their prices are amazing. The food impressed all of us. We got crab dip that was served with... garlic knots!!! That is truly a game changer. The Golden Harvest flatbread was bomb, and the Winter's Bounty salad was perfect... the butternut squash, goat cheese, and candied pecans really set it off. Oh, I sampled a friend's brisket slider too and they blew me away. They were an excellent size! Also, huge shoutout to Miguel who took great care of us. This was our second visit to Fallen Oak and both experiences were amazing. During our first visit, Amanda was our bartender and was super informative and helpful. She gave us some history and information about the whiskey, bourbon, and vodka. She also got me to try gin for the first time and it was delicious. I tried the Cranberry rosemary gilet but with gin and it was so good! It tasted like Christmas! My husband loved the smoked maple bourbon old fashioned. They have pretty good food options as well. We did the flatbread and honey chicken sliders. Both were delicious, but that flatbread was my favorite. We then moved into the speakeasy room, which is located behind the bookshelf. You have to request to be seated or have a reservation. It's a must try. The vibe is so cool and the ambiance calming. Definitely gives grown mature folk vibes, which I really enjoyed! The service here is amazing. We also had the pleasure of being served by Kat, Brandon, and Jorge at the bar. They were attentive, made great drinks, and were very entertaining. The area is a combination distillery and brewery. They have a huge area for recreational activities and they seem to have different food trucks. The distillery offers a speakeasy room that kind of takes you back to the prohibition era. The setting for it feels like a speakeasy: dimly lit, kind of intimate. Our server, Lexi, was really good. Very attentive and provided prompt service. They sell bottles and glasses of spirits. I was really pleased with the smoky maple old fashioned. Looking forward to going back for round two! read more

If I could give this venue 10 stars I would! This place actually has 2 venues steps away from each other. Lone Oak Brewing is more casual/family friendly/great menu/outdoor tables & tents & fire pits for rent and Fallen Oak has a tasting room and Speakeasy and nice outdoor covered and open seating areas with a very upscale feel. Both venues are wonderful! I went to Fallen Oak today for their tea event that I found out is now being held the first Sunday of each month with a menu that slightly rotates each time. Book tix online fast as they can easily sell out. They can accommodate up to 70 people so small and large parties were welcomed today. The Speakeasy is beautiful/upscale but comfortable and very inviting. The tea event decor was impeccable and the waitstaff were super attentive the entire time. The teas (no caffeine and low caffeine also available) were unique and I plan to buy some from the supplier they use (see name on tea menu). The savories were delicious especially the Chicken Tea Sandwich and the Prosciutto w/ Jam Sandwich. The desserts were super sweet and unique and most were fall flavored including the Blueberry Scone. I also ordered the Marble Cake off the dessert menu (not included in the tea event) and it was wonderful. It's a 2 hour timed event and the service starts for your table once you sit down so you never have to wait for anything. If you are Vegetarian/Gluten Free they happily accommodate if you let them know in advance. They played great jazz type music as well and it was one of the most memorable things I've done with my Mom. She absolutely loved it which was the highlight of my day!!!!! Music on jazz nite in the Speakeasy was outstanding. First time there.My husband and I had reservations and did not have a problem being seated. At no time were we informed of any time limit on sitting at our table. We ordered a couple of drinks and 2 Shareable dishes and before we were done with the food (which is not cheap but that was OK since we love Jazz)our server informed us that he needed the table because it was a busy nite and offered to move us to the bar! We love Loneoak brewery and the distillery is a wonderful addition to the property. The speakeasy bar/restaurant is beautiful inside and a great place to go for drinks. But, have to be honest, the food was average. Nothing great to recommend and it was crowded, which was fine, but was very very loud -felt like we had to yell across the table to have a conversation. Possibly in need of noise reduction acoustic additions. The flatbread had good flavor, but was soggy, the sliders were OK had a lot of grizzle in them, and the mashed cauliflower tasted like baby food and was so bland but the place is still beautiful and a fun experience. I wouldn't recommend ordering any of the food. Even the key lime pie was not great. read more

I took my two boys there last Sunday for one of their birthdays. They thought it was so cool in how we were escorted inside and felt like we were the VIPs. But it was loud !!! We sat next to a long table which appeared to be a celebration and they were talking very loud. They could have been told to talk soft to respect the patrons like us. The drinks were amazing and the crab appetizer with garlic bread was the best. However, our dinner didn't fare very well. My Golden Harvest flatbread was too sweet - way too much glaze and my fingers were all sticky and I had to go to the restroom to wash my hands. The glaze needs to be less - I love flatbreads but it was the worst I had. Also, I thought I would have alot of sausages on the flatbread, but only had four small "hot-dog" sizes which was very disappointing. My boys' sliders were alright. I realized a big hamburger is best served for the guys as they have a big appetite for protein!! Because of the dinner flop, we decided not to order dessert. It was disappointing about the turnout of the dinner. Nevertheless, I still will go back there just for drinks and appetizers during the fall season which is fitting to hang out in that exclusive room.
