Came here for Sunday brunch with family, seated on the upstairs,no wait needed with reservation. A Lovely old estate turned into a restaurant with warm and inviting atmosphere. Seatings are cozy and intimate but with reasonable spacing in between, which is nice. Service: our server Mike was very attentive, and friendly. He s knowledgeable of the menu and drink. Great Service. Food: delicious, fresh ingredients, handmade pasta, fresh seafood, beautiful plating, decent portion size definitely shareable. Drinks: good variety, cocktails were refreshing, and can be modified to a mocktail. Prices: high-end brunch, expect to pay in the $$$ range. We had a party of 4, with each one ordered an appetizer + main course + drinks, total came out to be close to $300 The foodies of @WineDinenVacay had an enjoyable time , we highly recommend this restaurant, and will return. read more

I sat on the porch and it was beautiful - peaceful, quiet, a perfect setting for a meal. The server was pleasant, informative, and professional. The food was really good! They make their own pasta and bread in-house, and use fresh, locally sourced produce. What more could you ask for? This was my second time visiting; the first time, several years ago the service was really slow and I'm happy to report things seem to have improved and it's now a really solid option. Not cheap, but what is any more? Well worth a visit. read more

chose this restaurant because of its strong ratings and decided to take my husband there for his birthday. Unfortunately, the experience was underwhelming overall. We started with the Grand Caviar tasting, which was the most expensive caviar option on the menu. For the price, I expected much more. The caviar was extremely salty, to the point where it felt like additional salt had been added on top. The tasting included three varieties of caviar. The caviar they used on one was the exact caviar they used in sushi. Our second appetizer, the tuna dish, was significantly better. While the presentation could have been more refined and visually appealing, the flavor exceeded expectations and was one of the stronger dishes we tried. For my entrée, I ordered the branzino. The fish itself was decent, but def not crispy but it was salty. The sauce was salty and the fish was salty making the entire plate feel like salt layered upon salt. Additionally, the skin was advertised as crispy, but it lacked the crisp texture I was expecting. My husband ordered the rainbow trout stuffed with crab. It was enjoyable and probably the most balanced entrée of the evening, though it wasn't particularly memorable. For sides, I ordered the wild mushrooms, and my husband chose the risotto. The risotto had good flavor but seemed slightly undercooked. The mushroom side was also on the salty side, and despite being described as "wild mushrooms," it consisted primarily of portobello mushroom. read more

The ambiance and food was amazing. When you walk up, there is a very large patio. It looked lovely to sit at on a nice day. The house is also subdivided into smaller rooms, so there is no more than about 6 tables per section. It made it intimate and well curated. We went with friends and came prepared to eat. We ordered plenty of appetizers, our meals, and 2 desserts. My favorites were the burrata and arancini. My salad was basic, but trying a bite of my husband's steak was fantastic. Pretty much everything was a baseline of good enough to order again, but now that I've gone once the things I need again are pretty much all the appetizers and a steak. As for the desserts, they were just ok. I don't think I've ever had a dry olive oil cake, but this one was. The gelato on top made up for it because it was like an added sauce. Finally, our server was ok. He was great with our orders and refilling our drinks. However, he was a little sneaky with asking us the type of water we wanted and if we wanted the focaccia for the table that you had to pay for. He also just rushed my husband through the bill so he could not see if it was accurate and he had added an appetizer that we never got. He was still nice and good waiter. Just minor things in an overall great experience. read more

I was shocked when I saw that this restaurant only had four out of five stars. We certainly had a five star experience, and we will come back. The hostess staff was very welcoming the waitress, Josie, was fantastic. We sat outside, which was lovely, plenty of parking, extensive menu we had the fish, and a pasta dish, and we even took a crab linguine pasta dish home for takeout. If you get dessert, I would recommend the olive oil cake! read more

The food was very good, we had the orochetti and the bolognese. Both were very good. The garlic shrimp appetizer was ok, nothing special. The back patio is an ok place To eat, but nothing like the front. Now the bad. The service the night we went was terrible. We sat for long periods of time between courses. It was really bad. Nice person, terrible food timing. Hope it is much better next time. read more

Good food does exist out in the burbs! Came here at 8:30pm on a Friday cause we finally found a sitter. Randomly, I liked 2 of their smaller plates so much, I could've eaten them as meals if they were bigger. They were the cast iron shrimp with focaccia, and oddly enough, the risotto. Our waiter Aidan was super nice and attentive me Will be back! read more

Late review ... came here a few of months ago with my husband and teen daughter. We sat outside, as the weather was still on the warmer side. The place looked cute outside. We had a few items; for apps, we split the carpaccio, which we liked. Our daughter had the Ceasar salad, she didn't love it because there was a huge anchovy in the middle (none of us had ever seen such a big anchovy in a Ceasar before). For entrees, I had the Iceland Cod with the faro and fennel salad (might have been a special husband got pasta and daughter had the 6 oz filet mignon. We all wanted to love this place, it's cute and near our new home. Unfortunately, all of our entrees fell short of expectations. They definitely could have been better. And we felt the price point was high for what we got. The service was okay, server didn't seem to know a lot, even brought out wrong. Based on the price point and experience, we're not sure we'll return. read more

We wanted to get in one more restaurant week date night so we made reservations at Salt & Vine! The restaurant looks like a very large house and has multiple floors and dining rooms/areas. The restaurant was buzzing with conversation all around us. It was a little hard to hear each other, but we adjusted. Our waiter, P.R., made some good suggestions for appetizers. I had the Caviar Bites, my wife had the Whipped Ricotta. We also ordered drinks; I had a glass of Rosé, my wife had the Blueberry Smash. The appetizers tasted good, especially the caviar bites! They're a combination of potato rösti (it tasted like a really good French fry) with various caviar and a cheese sauce called Stracciatella drizzled on than. Yum!!!! We both ordered the Grilled NY Striploin which came with broccolini and pommes rösti (the French fry thing, lol). We both ordered medium but my wife's came out medium well. We didn't say anything about it since everything tasted great! Although she said my steak tasted better than hers since it was cooked as ordered. To end the night my wife ordered the cannons and I had the chocolate mousse. We enjoyed both, but took them to go since we were full. Overall we enjoyed our experience! Restaurant week brought us in, but we'll be back in the future. Thanks to the team here for taking good care of us! read more

This was my first time at Salt & Vine and the experience was fantastic! From the moment we sat down, we were greeted by our wonderful waitress who was so pleasant and upbeat. We sat in the bar area because it was a Friday night and the wait for a table was 45 minutes. Being that we had never been there, I asked for suggestions for a good chicken meal. She recommended the baked chicken stuffed with cheese and spinach and it was delicious. The drinks and food here are fantastic! Definitely recommend! Great food and service! read more

I came here for a private party. Salt & Vine is located in the historic Olney House, which has many rooms and charm, making it the perfect venue to host an event. I'm not gonna lie, despite following the GPS, it was tricky for me to find where the restaurant was actually located. The GPS led me through the back way, so there were unmarked roads and no signage identifying Salt & Vine from the back. The easiest way to find the big white house of the restaurant is off of Olney Sandy Spring Road. There's a few parking spots available in the front and additional parking in the back. We had a private room upstairs, almost in a nook. The room was a little dingy and was a bit dated - the mirrors were tarnished and could've used some Windex - but the dining room table was set and it gave us the intimate ambiance that we were looking for. Service was excellent! Five stars for service! Ty was our primary server. He checked on us frequently to see if we needed anything, checked to see how the food was, and still gave us the space to enjoy our private lunch together. Any time a new guest arrived, Ty promptly greeted the newcomer and was ready to get them a drink. When the guest of honor arrived, he gave his congratulatory wishes and really set the tone for a wonderful luncheon at Salt & Vine. Service was super accommodating and pacing between the dishes was done really well. We never felt rushed and also never felt like we were sitting around wondering when the next dish would come. All the dishes served had the necessary serving utensils for family-style. Service was upscale in the sense that they changed out plates and silverware in between courses. Service was also super seamless - another staff member was there to assist to clear plates, bring out food and dishes, and do drink refills - and everyone did their job efficiently and effectively. Leftovers were also packed up by the staff and neatly packaged to take home. We had a family-style meal consisting of the arancini, grandma's meatballs, house salad, wood-oven roasted oysters, fusilli bolognese, artichoke and crab frittata, fresh berries and whipped cream, and cannolis. Each dish had beautiful presentation. The standout dish (and rightfully so) was the fusilli bolognese, which Ty said was by far the most popular dish on the menu. The fusilli bolognese was delicious! The fusilli bolognese was perfectly balanced between the meat, creamy tomato sauce, and cheese. I don't like pasta that's swimming in sauce or that has chunks of meat that's dry or rolls right out of the sauce - this fusilli bolognese does everything right and I'm here for it. The arancini was light and super cheesy on the inside. It's almost like a fried mozzarella ball. The meatball was served with a lovely dollop of herbed ricotta. Both the arancini and meatball were served in a tasty marina sauce and I would say they were good serving sizings for the starters. The house salad was fresh and nicely dressed, but pretty basic - some mixed greens, little tomatoes, pickled red onions, and croutons, plus a balsamic dressing. The artichoke and crab frittata was topped with mixed greens that almost felt like another salad. Everything was portioned out already, making it easy to serve and share the meal together. I do like a little more stuff in my frittata (peppers, onions, cheese, etc. aka the works), but I did appreciate that you can taste the crab and artichokes in the dish. For dessert, we had the fresh berries with whipped cream and a platter of cannolis. We loved the berries and whipped cream - so fresh and lightly sweet and airy. You get a two-for-one with the cannolis - you get chocolate chips on one side and pistachios on the other end - it's the best of both worlds! These were classic cannolis done really well. I highly recommend Salt & Vine for any event you may have. They hosted our luncheon expertly. And the fusilli bolognese- get it! read more

Everything I get is delicious. My favorite to order are the oysters and the pizza. The atmosphere is beautiful.

This restaurant is beautiful inside. From the moment you go inside, you feel like you're transported somewhere else in the world. As for our server, something seemed off. He rushed us to order, made us uncomfortable when we were deciding what to order, and asked us if we wanted the house made bread. I knew the bread was $5 but he made no mention of it. If I was coming to eat there and was asked if I wanted bread and didn't know there was a charge, I would be upset. It was kind of deceiving, and when the bill came out, shoved the handheld device to pay in my face and I couldn't go over the bill. He told me to put my phone here when paying and that was that. The bill was incorrect and I had to get a manager to fix it (the manger was very friendly and took care of everything). I also have an issue when a server asks us how the food is, right when the food gets put down on the table. We hadn't even had a chance to take a bite. Now, why I gave this place a five star. Like I said before, the ambiance was amazing, if we had a different server, I'm sure it would had been great! The food: it' was top notch. Some of the best food in Maryland. I wouldn't had changed anything with the food. Everything was seasoned perfectly, had the right textures, and tasted so good! Would I go back? Absolutely! read more

Met friends here. Service was horrible! We gave order to waiter 1 whom then passed us to waiter 2 without any information and finally to rookie waiter 3. This was pitiful. I had a pizza which was overpriced at 27 dollars for inferior thin pizza with little taste. My wife and i split a giant caesar with shrimp instead of getting small salads. This seemed to be a side salad in size. Ice tea refills were limited and I had to hunt staff to pay and leave. Foccacio bread appertizer was eh. She had 1 piece of my pizza and gave it a thumbs down. Finally got to experience Salt & Vine! I met up with a friend right next door and didn't realize how close this place was. Based on the pics I saw from outside, I thought it was on a hill in the middle of some big field somewhere in Olney, not right in the nearby parking lot XD. It has a stunning exterior with patio seating. It was a beautiful day, so my buddy and I kept debating between sitting inside and outside. Before deciding we did walk through, and I loved how beautiful the decor inside is. I didn't get to see upstairs, but I imagine it was even more delight. We eventually decided to sit outside, the weather was irresistible. When we sat down, we made an awesome discovery -- it was about to be happy hour! They have it 7 days a week at the bar or on the patio, so it turned out wonderfully. We still had about 20 minutes, so I got a bowl of gazpacho in the meantime. I hadn't had it in like 15 years and it tasted even better than I remembered! It's about as summer as you can get when it comes to soup. When happy hour time came, we got fritto misto, which is fried calamari, shrimp, scallops, and lemon slices all in one... very unique, and I was intrigued! There was definitely more shrimp than anything else though. We each had a FANTASTIC lamb chop... I have to bring my friend who loves lamb in the near future. And we each had a glass of wine and split the fusilli bolognese. That was an excellent pasta -- flavorful and all. All this to say, I had a fantastic time at Salt & Vine after watching it for like two years. I am looking forward to bringing my parents for some special occasion. It was awesome! read more

This is a great HH spot. I find the staff friendly and other patrons to be welcoming. The ambiance is comfortable sitting at the bar in the bar area, it is a great conversational area. The drinks are well-made and warmed my soul. The food was amazing, especially the Single lamb chop. I enjoyed it so much I had three the first time I visited. The food, service and environment was great. A little pricy and loud but would definately keep going back.

We've been wanting to try salt & vine for a while and finally got the chance to this past Friday evening. Be aware parking is very limited and you may have to drive around for a little in order to find a space. Although pricey, we all very much enjoyed our dinner here. The crab linguine was delicious, as was the shrimp in butter sauce. The focaccia is also house made and we used it to dip in the shrimp butter sauce. The beef carpaccio was tasty and the brocollini was grilled to perfection. The drinks were all presented beautifully and you really can't go wrong with any of them! Our server was kind and gave us great recommendations. My only complaint is that our food took over an hour to come out, but our server did apologize for the wait. I am assuming that was out of the ordinary. We will definitely be back! read more

Ok place, they had chicken tenders for kids with no ketchup. Pasta was really good. Pizza was ok.

Revisited Salt and Vine for Mother's Day dinner this past Sunday. My family and I decided to dine a week after the actual day to avoid the crowds. I re-ordered their lemoncello spritz (still highly recommend if you want a summer drink), the beef carpaccio, meatballs and sausage pizza pie for an appetizer. My favorite was the meatball dish, very tender and flavored very well. I personally ordered their 6 oz blue tuna with a side of pea and black truffles risotto. I thoroughly enjoyed the dish and for some reason, they always nail the cook on the risotto every time. My sister and mom wanted a small dessert too that wasn't on their menu (an affogato). However we noticed that they had espresso and gelato on their menu as separate items. The staff were kind enough to essentially put both items together to create an affogato. Very delicious and highly recommend as well. Overall, another very exceptional experience. It is quite pricey but definitely a well worth dining experience every once in awhile. This is a great option for those looking for a place to celebrate birthdays or even Father's Day since it's around the corner. read more

"At Salt & Vine, we promise to provide an unforgettable dining experience that is as delightful as it is refined." Last night, we enjoyed a delicious dinner at Salt & Vine. We were celebrating a friend's birthday. The service is excellent. Our server was attentive and knowledgeable. She was there when we needed her and gave us space when we needed it. The bar area is beautiful with rich dark woods, mirrors, and comfortable cream couches. The management reigns supreme, Jason, one of the front of the house managers came by several times to check on us. I thought that was really nice. We started off our meal with fried artichokes and the burrata platter. Unfortunately, somebody in the prep department forgot to remove the chokes from the artichoke dish. That made it a little difficult to eat and enjoy. The burrata platter was by far our favorite antipasti. There was a large mound of fresh burrata, tasty warm pita bread, flavorful peppers, and a generous helping of prosciutto. This is the best appetizer! One of our diners got the pressed duck, which is cooked and then pressed with layers of potatoes, and peas. It looked outrageously good and we were both sorry that we didn't order this dish. Next time... One friend ordered the arugula, asparagus, radish, egg, and prosciutto salad dressed in a honey mustard vinaigrette. He added chicken to his salad. He really enjoyed his dish. I ordered the roasted beet salad with pistachio nuts, goat cheese, strawberries, lettuce and a cheese blend. It was dressed in a mustard, lemon vinaigrette. I added shrimp to my dish. I thought my salad was excellent. The shrimp and beets were cooked to phenomenally. I wish they would have added a few more shrimp to the dish. But, the 3 shrimp on the salad were large in size. For dessert, we had the tiramisu, which included coffee, soaked Ladyfingers, Kahlua coffee liquor, and cream. All three of us were blown away. Best tiramisu that we have ever had in our lives. Chef's kiss! Our friend had the toasted almond cake with marscyepone frosting. That was amazing too. The pastry chef is so talented. An incredible meal, but it is definitely pricey. So, make sure and plan ahead for this fun dining experience. read more

Nestled in a former home/mansion a bit off the road at the intersection of Georgia Ave and 108, Salt & Vine is no secret. And I finally got to see why when I visited back in January for my birthday. Salt & Vine is large, yet cozy and intimate, with several rooms for dining. Service is prompt and attentive. On this first visit I had the Orecchiette Salsiccia and my guy had the rainbow trout. Both were delicious!! I tried two different cocktails, Limoncello Mule and Salt and Vine Something. My favorite between the two was the mule. Waiter was great . Food was average . Flies in restaurant were beyond imaginable bummer . Won't go back .

I enjoyed a nice brunch here! Not sure why the Washington Post was so harsh, it's a good restaurant! The building is old and historic with tons of parking. Apparently the wood fired oven they use is original to the house! The front area is a little strange because it leads straight into a staircase, but the rest of the restaurant is elegantly decorated. I loved the green and gold wallpaper in the downstairs dining room. I was a little disappointed in the variety of brunch offerings- most of the menu was not breakfast food. However, all of the food was really beautiful and tasted great, too! I got the beet salad, which I think was the best thing on the table. It was prepared well and had a great mix of flavors. The staff were quiet and discreet but very attentive. It seemed a little high priced for me, especially for the location, but it was a beautiful intimate restaurant and provides an upscale location that Olney needed. read more
