Photo of the bag that rats ate threw while at BT&T Auto Service.

**Rats got into the car while in the shop for repair at BT&T Auto Service and the shop owner did not even issue an apology and did not clean all of the sunflower seeds and rat debris and droppings from my vehicle. **Shop owner also had the car moved and repaired at a friend's shop which was not at all authorized by me. There are reasons indicating that BT&T Auto Service has been unethical, dishonest and has demonstrated poor practices and unsatisfactory facility upkeep. The check engine light came on only hours after the car was picked up from having the "engine replacement" done on my Lexus. Which is a Toyota made vehicle and connotes *Reliability. I returned at the first opportunity on the next available business day. Pointed out to Phu (shop owner/technician at BT&T Auto Service) that the check engine light came on and the car was shaking. He made no adjustments. Expressed that it's not his problem. ** Took the vehicle to another shop and they said if the engine was just replaced the check engine light should not be on and the car should not be shaking. Urged that it be taken back to the shop that did the repairs. Returned to BT&T Auto Service. Mentioned the car was brought to another shop and they urged that it be returned ASAP as the problem could be serious. The shop owner plugged the car up and did a diagnostic. He said the car needs a sensor and asked if I could get the replacement part fit my car and purchase it myself, bring it to him he sent me a text verifying it was the correct part but once I went into have it installed he had me come back the next day. But when I came back following day it took 2-3hrs for him to tell me it's the wrong part. I pointed out to the shop owner that the vehicle had a check engine light on when it was brought in for service. Notes: the other shop pointed out that the hood is not closing properly the. i.e. The body Lines are not matching up when the hood is supposed to close which potentially indicates the engine was dropped and something was damaged beyond repair and/or not installed correctly. An engine repair was done on this same vehicle at this (BT&T) shop months back (less than one year) and now that this has happened, the quality of the repair work and/or the integrity of the shop owner has strongly come into question. It's extremely difficult to trust the shop at this point and the car will not pass inspection for a check engine light after paying $2,200 for the engine "repair". Information I requested from the shop (that they still have not provided) 1. Vendor name/merchant ID (of where (the parts) engine came from since it was not provided anywhere on the receipt) 2. Year make and model of the vehicle the engine came from 3. Provide proof of the mileage on the rebuilt engine. 4. Written explanation of what exactly warranted an engine replacement on the final invoice 5. Is the odometer to be set on the mileage of the d engine or the new engine? 6. Why was the warranty info provided at the time of pick up was different. I Was told the engine would be warrantied for 1yr. as he did the repairs from last year by Phu the shop owner and At pickup he said the engine replacement is only warranteed for 90 days. 7. Why is the vehicle still shaking? Both motor mounts were replaced as well. 8. Itemized list of the exact parts switched from the old engine to the new engine (I've asked for this itemized list of the old parts transferred from the old engine to the rebuilt engine multiple times. I've since made multiple trips to the shop since the repair was completed to resolve this and get the car running properly. It was confirmed by another facility that the list of engine codes from the diagnostic are related to the engine itself. Those codes have been on consistently in the Dash since the repair of the engine. 10. Vehicle will not currently pass state inspection and therefore can not be legally operated; check engine light is on. Also I have the text messages screenshots from the conversation of the owner asking me to get the part for the vehicle to be replaced. which I agreed to do but once I returned with the part he told me it was the wrong part after he said it was the correct part. I asked him a couple of times if he could just order the part for me and he said it would be a lot more expensive if he orders it. I do not believe it's fair for him to ask me to purchase a part related to the engine when he claims to have completed services and failed to properly check the vehicle for it's release. Also It is unethical to only mention one code reading when there are a total of 6 engine codes reading on the diagnostic. The shop owner/technician failed to mention that there were six total codes showing in the dash that are all related to the engine. He only mentioned 1 which was for an oxygen sensor which he refused to replace for me. After taking it to another shop it's clear he didn't because the light would have come back on. Would not recommend.

I brought my car here after the temperature gauge started running higher than normal during my…read morecommute. I initially thought it might just be an aging coolant issue, but I didn't want to keep driving it and risk turning a cooling-system problem into an engine problem. Their technicians inspected the heating and coolant system rather than simply topping off the reservoir and sending me home. They found that the coolant level was low and traced the issue to a leak that needed attention. They also checked the hoses and other components of the cooling system and explained what they found before doing the repair. I appreciated that because I wanted to understand why the temperature had been fluctuating instead of just being handed a repair bill. While they had the vehicle, they also checked the heater operation because I'd noticed that the cabin heat wasn't getting as warm as it normally did. The technician explained how the coolant system affects both engine temperature and the vehicle's heating system, which helped everything make much more sense. After the repair and coolant service, the temperature gauge stayed exactly where it should during both stop-and-go D.C. traffic and longer drives. The heater also returned to normal operation. I love that they didn't immediately recommend replacing expensive parts. They inspected the system, identified the actual problem, explained the repair, and then verified that everything was operating properly afterward. That's exactly the kind of approach I want from an auto repair shop. Plus, everyone was professional throughout the visit, and the technicians clearly knew what they were doing - very reassuring!

Form the moment I talked to Chris and the staff, though, I felt completely at ease. They diagnosed a bad ignition coil, gave me a staightforward estimate, and didn't pressure me into adding any unnecessary fixes. They knocked out the repair the very same day, and my car has been running perfectly since. It's tough finding a trustworthy mechanic in DC, but these guys are the real deal.

My transmission had gone out, unfortunately, but they got be back up and running quickly. Shortly after, when my gear shift was giving me problems, I went back. They offered to pay for the labor since there was uncertainty about it being related to the transmission. I thought that was very notable (and very appreciated). All in all, the shop owners, Miguel and Luis, are super kind and clearly look out for their customers. I'll be going back without hesitating if I ever have future issues.

So when my local mechanic couldn't fix an issue that cropped up with my car in September, I went out of my way to bring my car from NW to Auto Tech's Trinidad shop. My car had a P1454 check engine light (fuel tank pressure sensor/EVAP system issue). Auto Tech did a diagnostic and recommended replacing the sensor for $519. They said they weren't completely sure it would fix the problem, but they warned me that if I took the car to a dealer, the dealer would want to replace the full EVAP system for at least $2,000. I trusted Auto Tech's advice and authorized the $519 repair, but the check engine light came back on the next day. Auto Tech then advised I replace the rest of the EVAP system, quoting me over $1,500 just for the parts. I decided to get a second opinion from the dealer anyway. For a $195 diagnostic fee, the dealer identified a clogged fuel vent tube, cleaned it out, and fixed the problem. This tube is attached to the same fuel tank pressor sensor Auto Tech replaced -- meaning that Auto Tech never took the time to check for a blockage in the immediate vicinity of the part they replaced. When I called Auto Tech to provide this feedback and express my disappointment with the misdiagnosis, they blew me off. They insisted they had been right all along, offered an obviously insincere apology, and hurriedly got off the phone. I am deeply disappointed with Auto Tech and can no longer recommend them due to their failure to properly diagnose this issue, bad advice about how much a dealership would have charged, and dismissal of my feedback.

Cons They had my car for 24 hours and i had to call them to ask for updates. They gave me 8k estimate for a full scope of work that was needed. I declined all but what my car got towed for and 3 new tires. That total cost was $1500 When my car was ready they called me 15 mins before closing so i could not get my car until the following day. Would not have been an issue but they parked my car on the street where it received a ticket. When i mentioned the ticket they collected it and said they were going to pay it. A month goes by and the ticket has not been paid and it doubled. I didn't follow back up before the month went by because my dad passed 10 days later so it was not on my mind. When i called the shop to explain about the ticket they said they don't usually pay this kind of parking ticket. Lol after it doubled they conveniently do not pay this type. All of this could have been avoided had they looked at the ticket type and called me to notify me. They will never get anymore business from me. Sad because all they had to do was call the customer. Amended 5/6 The GM Mike called me to rectify the situation. He listened to me and apologized for the level of customer service I received. Being that this location is in DC and has a small lot they easily run into issues with ticketing. He made sure the ticket was paid within an hour of our call. I appreciate small businesses and ones that make it right with their customers.

Meg was welcoming and even gave some coffee shop recommendations to check out while I waited. I made an appointment to have my exhaust system checked out because my SUV sounds like a tractor. The mechanic tech who worked on my car took a test drive with me. He washed his hands and was considerate enough to place a mat down before getting into my car. He heard the noises from my exhaust upon idling and acceleration and was able to identify the issue.... Pending exhaust/muffler replacement to the tune of $1,700+ I ended up changing my coolant and transmission fluid (around $700 for services, including diagnostic fee) as preventative maintenance for now. The diagnostic included a more thorough assessment than I've gotten at the Ford dealership or any other auto shop. They checked ALL my fluid levels, brakes, and dashboard lights. And they provide visuals to let you know where fluid levels should be and where your vehicle's currently is. They provide a video as well of the issues with tour vehicle. They were courteous. You pay a diagnostic fee (about $90) separate from service provided, but I'm ok with that job because of how thorough it is. It isn't just targeting the issues as the "customer states," they go beyond and check out things. They provide so many services, including transmission and exhaust, which either gets outsourced if you're at the dealership or you'd have to go to a specialty shop for that work. I think Old Ox is part of a chain of shops, but I appreciated them working on my vehicle and explaining the issues. They're down-to-earth. The customer service was great. I have a Ford, which means I'll definitely be back for repairs and maintenance soon.
