Review of Beamer Auto, Aaron Lane, Clinton MD I rarely write reviews, and I especially dislike leaving negative ones, but auto repair is expensive, and it all comes down to trust. I've been taking my vehicles (BMW X5 and Mercedes E350) to Beamer Auto since 2022. Up until recently, they consistently provided good service at a fair price. Unfortunately, my last two experiences have completely changed my opinion. About 8 months ago, I brought in my X5. Communication was poor--I had to call several times just to get updates and an estimate. Since I trusted them from prior service, I gave them the benefit of the doubt and chalked it up to a bad day. This last visit today, with my E350, however, was unacceptable. I emailed in advance detailing the issues and received a confirmation for a 10 AM appointment on Thursday, September 18. When I arrived, the front desk person (Aaron) asked me to repeat everything instead of checking the email. I explained two issues: 1. The driver seat not returning fully upright (a sensor recalibration Beamer had fixed for me two years ago). 2. The passenger side headlight was flickering and going out intermittently. I was told I'd get a call with an estimate. Hours passed with no update. I called around 3:30 PM, no answer, and their voicemail was full. Eventually, they called me back but admitted they hadn't even looked at my car yet. Approx 4:30, I called again, because they close at 5:30. This time, Aaron said they wouldn't get to it that day but promised it would be checked first thing in the morning. The next day, still no call all morning. Frustrated, I drove 40 minutes back to the shop around 1 PM to pick up my vehicle. My car was sitting exactly where I left it. After waiting while Aaron looked at the computer and asking me the same question again about my car, I was told they couldn't fix the seat issue and that I'd need to go to the dealer (even though they had repaired the exact same problem less than two years ago). Then he incorrectly stated it was my driver-side headlight that was bad, when in fact it was the passenger side--the issue I had clearly outlined multiple times. Despite their lack of communication, inaccurate assessment, and the fact that my car hadn't moved, I was charged $158.75 for a diagnostic check. Based on my experience, I don't believe they even looked at the vehicle. After three years as a loyal customer, Beamer Auto has lost my trust and my business. If you're considering them, proceed with caution--buyer beware. read more

Yet another great review of Beamer Auto. I recently had my M235i worked on, it needed subframe bushings- a very complex procedure, even for a seasoned tech and it was something other shops either couldn't handle or just refused to do. It's an all-day job and they had to drop the entire rear end to do the work. My advisor, Kevin- was excellent with constant communications and kept me in the loop the whole time. I can't recommend a BMW, but since I'm stuck with one I recommend taking it to Beamer Auto. Let's get a few things straight. If you disagree, you're wasting your time reading any further: -BMWs are maintenance nightmares -it's not a matter of "if", it's a matter of "when" and "how bad is it" when you have issues -Dealerships are a ripoff Ok given that, Beamer Auto is the only place I will take my fun but monetary black hole 335 in for service and repairs. The customer service, the honesty, and the quality of work is excellent. If you don't believe me, get an estimate at a dealership when your BMW is out of its joke of a warranty, proceed to cry; then call BMW and laugh inside. My experience with Beamer is as a vehicle purchaser. After weeks of combing traditional car dealerships and lots, I found Beamer through Cargurus. I couldn't be happier! The vehicles here are in tremendously good condition, and at fair prices. The people (Aaron, Bryan, Daniel) couldn't be more professional and courteous. First and last time going to this service shop. They charged me a $160 to change my battery in my Key fob because the new battery i put in was faulty. Also wanted them to program a new keyfob, which they couldn't do because it was a aftermarket keyfob. I was there for almost 2 hours for something that could have been done in 10 minutes. All they did was connect the new keyfob to the computer, and the computer said the keyfob was invalid. It was nothing else they had to do. You already replace the battery in my orginal keyfob. I do understand that service is not free, but a $160 for something you couldn't complete. Never again. read more

Took my 325 for a no crank no start. They had my car for about a month and a half, and recommended a buy another key and they do a bypass. That was about $900. After doing both, the car still didn't start. They then recommended changing the spark plugs and a intake hose.... (for almost $700 ). I declined that service because I knew that wasn't the reason. They claimed they couldn't scan the engine codes. So after almost 2 months and $900, I towed my car back home with the same issue it began with. The battery was dead when I got it back, so I charged it and scanned it myself. I now have a P0604 code ( I didn't have b4 Beamer auto) and it's the only code. I don't think they're as knowledgeable as they should be, especially to work majority one brand. read more

If it wasn't for the BMW dealership messing up my pre-booked appointment, I would've never found this gem; so thank you! My BMW warranty expired and I was due for an oil change and microfilter. I called Beamer Auto and they accommodated me the very same day. I also received a complimentary multi-point inspection for being a new customer. The waiting room was very accommodating -- free and strong WiFi, Hulu, Netflix, complimentary coffee and two computer workstations. Beamer Auto sends you a "Your Service Has Begun" email after your vehicle is checked in, which includes a copy of your estimate and after checking out, they send you an "Invoice and Payment Receipt" email which includes the final bill, photos of your vehicle (which I absolutely appreciated) and future recommendations -- I now have the heads up that my spark plugs will need to be replaced at 60k miles and they provided me with an estimate of that as well. Best of all, I paid half of what I would've paid at the dealership had they serviced my car. And for anyone still unsure of Beamer Auto, they use authentic BMW parts, are recognized by aftermarket warranties, and they are HONEST -- that's something you can't say for a lot of repair shops. My Check Engine Soon light popped on so bypassed the dealer and took it in to Kevin based off of my positive previous experience. Normally the Check Engine Soon light means that you are in for a hefty service bill. In my case Kevin ran the diagnostic and it came up as with a gas leak code. He fully inspected the lines and determined that it was likely tripped by the gas cap not being tight enough on a previous fill. He reset the computer, gave my e93 a clean bill of health and sent me on my way. Total Cost ZERO! Testament to Kevin's honesty and outstanding customer service. No surprise list of things that need to be done or even a diagnostic fee. If you have a BMW and want an alternative to the dealer you will not be able to find a better shop in the area. read more

Not a good experience on my end. The very first time I took my car in for service (2019) it was to get a window replaced and over all checkup. They did the replacement but on my way home from picking up my car I had to pull over and have my car towed back to the shop. Turns out a cap was not replaced properly and coolant was spewing and smoking everywhere. Eventually the window that was replaced stopped working and I brought the car back in to have the window replaced once again. I also had them look at the air conditioner that was not working. I was told it would cost $150 to fix the air conditioner(as evac and recharge) so I agreed. Within a day or so I was told the air was working, the window had been replaced but they needed another day because the technician somehow broke the door. Days later, I was told the door was now working but the air was no longer working and they needed an additional $772.34 to replace the expansion valve and drier. After expressing my discontent about the additional money, I agreed. A few days later, they informed me they replaced the additional part but the air was still not working and they now need an additional $2,376.79 to replace the evaporator. I was so angry at that point, I told them I was not giving them another dime and that I would be there to get my car (and I did) As of now, my air is not working, so every dime a gave them for the air-conditioner was a wasted. They did do a minor price adjustment to slightly reduce (not erase) some of the air conditioning fees but at the end of the day, I paid the money to fix the air conditioner and the air is still not working. I have also found that my door panel was not placed on the car properly but I will never return to that place of business again. read more

To all the women out there that own Bmw cars do not take your vehicle to Beamer Auto in Clinton, md they run a lot of games on you. I had six different incidents with my car after they supposively did repairs for different things. One almost cost me my life on the highway a week ago. They don't show you any parts they remove from your car with replacements. If you have warranty on your vehicle for anything check first before taking it to them. They want the money they will not tell you it's under warranty. I thought I could trust these guys they proved me other wise. read more

I arrived to the DC area a few weeks ago, and I found my new shop! First, their prices are competitive, both against dealers and sites like TireRack.com. Secondly, they're transparent. This was the first shop in the 9 years of owning my 3 series that actually took pictures of the issues they recommend fixing. Then they send you an email or text to the site that describes the issue along with the pictures so you can see for yourself and finally the quote both parts and labor (with a grand total "out the door" including taxes). Lastly, they're responsive. If they happen to miss your call, they'll call you back within a few minutes. Absolutely phenomenal across the board, I highly recommend them! read more

After receiving an inflated quote from a BMW dealership, I called 2 repair shops and both told me by phone that it was unlikely that I needed the amount of work recommended given the low mileage on my car. After evaluating my car, Beamer Auto determined their were only 2 things my car really needed and only 1 that had to be done urgently. A $5000 quote went to $300. In addition, Beamer Auto fit me in the very next morning after I explained that I had to take a long car ride for work and I was done in an hour. Fair, professional. They even took the time to show me exactly what the issues were with my car and explain why some of the BMW dealerships recommendations weren't necessary. I will be back. read more

Topnotch work & customer service! Very attentive to my concerns, and though they probably could've stiffed me for a huge bill on unnecessary repairs, I paid $40 for an oil change (I supplied the oil), full computer diagnostics, and a 10 min test ride for me to point things out & ask questions. I have brake service coming due, and since they told me about a leaking shock, I asked if we should do that too on the same day. Dude said to not even bother w/ the shock since it wasn't a danger and wasn't affecting the ride. The dealer service center would've made it into an emergency and tried to sell me a whole new suspension. The shop is about a 25 minute drive from Crofton, and well worth it!!! Of note, there isn't much in the area so pack a lunch and bring a fully charged phone. read more

I was tired of going to BMW where they over charge you . I found this place through a Google search and decided to give it a try . I got an oil change and fluids topped off . They also told me other problems with my car , HOWEVER THEY DIDNT NEED TO BE REPLACED yet . If I would have went to BMW they would have charged me an arm and a leg . My clutch recently went out and originally I had it taken to the dealership to be replaced. I was quoted some ridiculous price and that's when i looked around and found Beamer Auto. I couldn't be happier with my choice to bring it here. I got a Stage 1 clutch and lightweight flywheel installed for cheaper then what the dealership was charging me just to replace with OEM parts. Beamer Auto (The Ultimate Customer Experience) Hands down this is the best place in the DMV to have your BMW repaired. My check engine light and thermostat indicator popped up on my dash. A over heated engine means trouble. I called Beamer Auto in route, hoping my car could make it there. Daniel agreed to look at my car, an immediately took it in when I arrived. Within 2 hrs, I got a call with the dignoses. Daniel braced me for the "bad news" fully explaining why the work needed to be done an implications of my personal safety, driving a car in such poor condition; which I appreciated.
