The employees are always incredibly courteous and knowledgeable. I asked the Auto Zone Employees about Mt Vernon auto repair and they said they were the best! My wife and I went across the street to Mt. Vernon Auto Repair. We were greeted warmly and with a smile. My wife explained our situation to the owner and he said he would be able to take care of us. He said if I wanted to go back to the auto zone and get the part, he would start working on the car. I was afraid we were going to be ripped off due to being out of town and at the mercy of a unknown mechanic. To our amazement we were not only charged a fair price, but a price that I felt was of great value. In addition, we were in, done and on the road in a little over an hour. I am honored to give this mechanic and his staff a 5 star review. The lady behind the counter was accommodating and plesent. She offered coffee or tea and was very nice. When a weird situation happened with my car, Marvin & Willie were super transparent, helpful, and kind to me while they accommodated me without hesitation. Know that car service centers/dealerships have a really bad rep for the greedy out there, but in the years that I've come here, I've always depended on this service station to do right by me and not try to empty my wallet as much as possible. I also appreciated not having to re-explain my situation ten different times for them to remember who I was. Was pleasantly surprised to see that they also updated the waiting area. I was okay waiting in the old area and migrating to McDonald's if it meant I got good service, but I can tell it's going to make a huge difference for the next time I do have to wait a little now that it's all revamped. I used Steve's shop for many repairs on several vehicles over the years. I always found him and his associates to be spot on with work estimates, and in explaining why things were recommended. He got issues fixed quickly and if there were any issues after the fact he always addressed them. His prices were always fair, and the one time I took a quoted repair to another shop to save $100 I really ended up regretting it and wished that I just had Steve take care of it. I probably used Steve's shop for all my car repairs over a 8-9 year period and I was always satisfied with the work. When I returned to discuss the recurring issues and seek a resolution, I was not met with the level of professionalism or customer service that any paying customer should reasonably expect. Instead, I experienced an alarming and deeply unsettling confrontation. During our interaction, Brian approached me within inches of my face, repeatedly calling me a "bitch" and a "whore" while also stating, "I will hunt you down." Whether intended as a threat or not, these comments were intimidating, inappropriate, and entirely inconsistent with the standards of conduct expected from a professional business. I also witnessed another customer, an African American couple, attempting to address concerns about their own vehicle after experiencing similar issues. According to their account, their vehicle worked for only a short period before the problems returned. While their interaction did not escalate to the level of verbal abuse and intimidation that I experienced, their concerns appeared to be dismissed rather than addressed. Beyond the repair issues themselves, what affected me most was the genuine fear I felt as a result of the confrontation. The behavior directed toward me was so aggressive and intimidating that I left the premises in a panic. After leaving, I realized that I had accidentally left my purse behind. I was so uncomfortable returning alone that I requested a police escort to accompany me while retrieving my belongings. No criminal charges were filed. However, the fact remains that I felt unsafe enough to seek police assistance in order to recover my property. Regardless of whether the conduct met the legal threshold for criminal action, no customer should leave an automotive repair shop fearing for their safety after raising concerns about services they paid to receive. This review will be updated based on how the business chooses to address these concerns, whether through meaningful resolution, refusal to engage, or the outcome of any civil remedies available to me. Customers have a right to expect competent workmanship, honest communication, and a safe, respectful environment in which to ask questions about repairs performed on their vehicles. Businesses have a corresponding responsibility to address customer concerns professionally and to maintain an environment free from behavior that could reasonably be perceived as threatening, intimidating, or abusive. No customer should feel unsafe when seeking clarification, accountability, or resolution regarding services for which they have paid.
