I didn't get talked down to. I was sure I'd have to take several hours off of work and I didn't. Incredible. Compare this to the last time I got tires when I was in New Jersey where I had to go two days in a row and waste 2+ hours each time on a weekday because they didn't have my size tires in stock. And I paid a lot more for them and didn't have the option to get used tires, either. Compared to that, this has been a breeze.

I brought my car here after the temperature gauge started running higher than normal during my…read morecommute. I initially thought it might just be an aging coolant issue, but I didn't want to keep driving it and risk turning a cooling-system problem into an engine problem. Their technicians inspected the heating and coolant system rather than simply topping off the reservoir and sending me home. They found that the coolant level was low and traced the issue to a leak that needed attention. They also checked the hoses and other components of the cooling system and explained what they found before doing the repair. I appreciated that because I wanted to understand why the temperature had been fluctuating instead of just being handed a repair bill. While they had the vehicle, they also checked the heater operation because I'd noticed that the cabin heat wasn't getting as warm as it normally did. The technician explained how the coolant system affects both engine temperature and the vehicle's heating system, which helped everything make much more sense. After the repair and coolant service, the temperature gauge stayed exactly where it should during both stop-and-go D.C. traffic and longer drives. The heater also returned to normal operation. I love that they didn't immediately recommend replacing expensive parts. They inspected the system, identified the actual problem, explained the repair, and then verified that everything was operating properly afterward. That's exactly the kind of approach I want from an auto repair shop. Plus, everyone was professional throughout the visit, and the technicians clearly knew what they were doing - very reassuring!

Ever since Auto Tech gave me some free services at their old Adams Morgan location in the early…read more2010s, I've held them in high regard. So when my local mechanic couldn't fix an issue that cropped up with my car in September, I went out of my way to bring my car from NW to Auto Tech's Trinidad shop. My car had a P1454 check engine light (fuel tank pressure sensor/EVAP system issue). Auto Tech did a diagnostic and recommended replacing the sensor for $519. They said they weren't completely sure it would fix the problem, but they warned me that if I took the car to a dealer, the dealer would want to replace the full EVAP system for at least $2,000. I trusted Auto Tech's advice and authorized the $519 repair, but the check engine light came back on the next day. Auto Tech then advised I replace the rest of the EVAP system, quoting me over $1,500 just for the parts. I decided to get a second opinion from the dealer anyway. For a $195 diagnostic fee, the dealer identified a clogged fuel vent tube, cleaned it out, and fixed the problem. This tube is attached to the same fuel tank pressor sensor Auto Tech replaced -- meaning that Auto Tech never took the time to check for a blockage in the immediate vicinity of the part they replaced. When I called Auto Tech to provide this feedback and express my disappointment with the misdiagnosis, they blew me off. They insisted they had been right all along, offered an obviously insincere apology, and hurriedly got off the phone. I am deeply disappointed with Auto Tech and can no longer recommend them due to their failure to properly diagnose this issue, bad advice about how much a dealership would have charged, and dismissal of my feedback.

This definitely put a dent in my pockets and day but I didn't waste no time replacing my tire. Unfortunately, even though I got a new tire I still needed the rim repaired which I've procrastinated since then. I did my research trying to locate a rim repair shop and found a lot but never had time to go plus it definitely wasn't cheap as I compared pricing. This past Sunday, I happened to be in the area of one of the places I found in DC and decided to go get an estimate for a future repair. I will say this place is in a not so safe area if you're not use to being out here but no worries you should be fine just come when it's sunny out unless you're a DC native. Don't let the outside steer you away because this is definitely worth getting tires, repairs, etc. I met one of the repair guys named Louis who gave me an estimate and said he could do all my tires in an hour. I was hesitant at first because I wasn't prepared to do this that day but the price and timing was in my favor so I said why not. Louis kept me informed about what was being done as well as showing me his progress. He answered all my questions and made sure I was pleased with his work. This shop is definitely busy and those men work extremely hard and waste no time. For a Sunday, they stayed open later than I expected and I'm grateful for it. I'm blessed to be able to find this place and get such an amazing result for a great price. I definitely will come back if I have to but hopefully no time soon because I refuse to deal with another pothole lol. Last, the before and after is insane (in a good way).

Cons They had my car for 24 hours and i had to call them to ask for updates. They gave me 8k estimate for a full scope of work that was needed. Would not have been an issue but they parked my car on the street where it received a ticket. When i mentioned the ticket they collected it and said they were going to pay it. A month goes by and the ticket has not been paid and it doubled. I didn't follow back up before the month went by because my dad passed 10 days later so it was not on my mind. When i called the shop to explain about the ticket they said they don't usually pay this kind of parking ticket. Lol after it doubled they conveniently do not pay this type. All of this could have been avoided had they looked at the ticket type and called me to notify me. They will never get anymore business from me. Sad because all they had to do was call the customer. Amended 5/6 The GM Mike called me to rectify the situation. He listened to me and apologized for the level of customer service I received.
