I had a pesky leak on my left front tire that only got worse the more I prolonged it. At first I was able to put air in the tire and it would last for around 3-4 days but now it was only good for hours before my tire would go flat. To make matters worse all four of these tires are basically new and less than 30 days old! Anyway, this whole thing was driving me nuts, so I started shopping around for a place. I remembered this local place that allowed you to drive up for on-the-spot repair and they work on your tire(s) while you wait in your car, so I decided to give them a try and I'm really glad I did. When I arrived there were a couple of cars ahead of me, which wasn't a big deal since this place is similar to a drive-thru you allowing you to conveniently wait your turn in your car. They work pretty quickly here and before I knew it I'm pulling forward to get my tire looked at. The mechanic was friendly, respectful, and took the time to listen to what was going on with my tire. He quickly got the tire off, diagnosed the problem, and explained what needed to be done in plain language. The problem was with the valve stem, which had a leak. The mechanic got right to work making the repair and explaining to me what he was doing. The work was done efficiently and correctly, and he made sure everything was explained to my satisfaction. There was no pressure, no upselling, and no runaround; just honest work and solid service. Oh, and the cost of this repair was less than 25 bucks! I couldn't believe I received this much service and such great work at this price point. What makes this place stand out to me is the customer service from all of the staff, but in particular the mechanics themselves that are actually working on your car. Usually, the people working on your car are hidden in a garage somewhere while you wait in a waiting room, so you never actually meet the mechanic working on your car. At Mac's you are up close and personal to the mechanic. That's a huge plus in my book. You can tell this is a local business that actually cares about its reputation and all of the customers coming there. It's the kind of shop where they remember you, talk to you with respect, and make sure you leave satisfied. If you're tired of chain shops and want to support a local business that does quality work and treats customers right, this is the place to go. I cannot tell you how happy I am about going to this place. I stopped in at 7pm on a Wednesday and was out by 7:30. They had my tire in stock. They changed it for a very reasonable price. I didn't get talked down to. I was sure I'd have to take several hours off of work and I didn't. Incredible. Compare this to the last time I got tires when I was in New Jersey where I had to go two days in a row and waste 2+ hours each time on a weekday because they didn't have my size tires in stock. Mac's offers a drive thru setup so that you can get a quick tire service like plugging a tire or checking your pressure. I'm not sure what else they do but the team provides great customer service. Up early in SW to bring my car to my daughter's for her to borrow. It's dead. I convince another early riser on the street to give me a jump. As I drive, I hear a clack, clack, clack sound. I get to her house and run my hand over the tire. It's a nail. My daughter and I start looking for rentals so she and her young daughter can get to the Northern Virginia Girl Scout camp in time. I run across an ad for Mac's. 8 minutes later we drive through and Pepe greets us warmly, tells us all to relax and that he will have us off and running in no time. We were driving cross country and, unbeknownst to us, had excessively worn inner edges on our rear tires that eventually wore down to the steel belts and caused a vibration. We used our spare for the worst one, and drove the last 100 miles into DC. We chose Mac's because of the good reviews and they did not disappoint. They ordered our two replacement tires (not a common size) and had them there later the same day. Never in a million years would I have I thought I would become a regular at a tire shop, but the roads in DC are rough! I've gone to Mac's for tire plugs and for tire replacements and each time I was appreciative of the customer service and the way that the employees not only fix whatever problem I may have, but they're patient in explaining what went wrong and their recommendation on how I should go about fixing it. I think they are good at what they do. I had a flat tire, and came here simply by way of a Yelp search with all the positive reviews. I was worried that I would need to replace my tire, but it just needed a plug which cost about $20. When they finally got to me, the guy who worked on my car was efficient and quick. I ended up tipping him because he was really good. I forgot his name unfortunately. The only annoying thing is having to wait and how traffic gets backed up into the street. It was my first time there, so didn't really know what to expect. I waited about 1.5 hours before my car was finally seen, and maybe only spent 15 minutes in there for service. I guess the cost and quickness of the service offset the long wait time. I would definitely come back though in the future and try to come during less busy times like early in the morning or later in the evening. read more

Was traveling from NC and started having some wobble in my steering. Mac's was close to where we were staying and they are truly open 24/7 so it was a no brainer when looking at their reviews. When you arrive, just pull into the garage and wait in line if there is one. I got a complete rotation and balance. It is nice to know that some things don't change. When driving down the street and avenues of DC we see change. Often I turn down a street trying to find a business that I am familiar with only to find they are gone. When you have low tire pressure or flat, (you don't want to ride around long). I worked down town DC for thirty four years, and have lost a lot of tires. When I was first directed to Mac's I was shocked to be in a line of about 10 cars. I thought I would be there forever, but they get you in and get you out that was about 10 years ago. In 2921 had a brand new car that got a flat during rush hour! My car dash board was telling me how much air I was losing as I drove, I was so great full they were open. I did not wait long at all. Last Saturday morning 2024 there was a detour on Main Ave, I dropped someone off at GW hospital and tire light comes on, I headed toward the dealer then I took a chance and headed toward Florida ave, and was pleasantly surprised to find that they are still doing business. They still had my car listed from the last time I was in. I used to think wow it is so cramped, but for the work they specialize in, it is big enough to suit the purpose.
