I wasn't familiar with the area, so I used Yelp and saw positive reviews on this location. I was not disappointed. Upon arriving, it took no more than 7 minutes to find the nail, patch the hole, and fill the tire with air. The pricing is also very reasonable and the staff was friendly. I want to start this off by saying that I had an excellent experience here last year, when I blew a tire on Rock Creek Parkway and a tow truck dropped me off for a quick replacement. It was $80 or so for a new tire and the whole thing took maybe half an hour. I live in the neighborhood, so a few weeks ago I got a flyer on my car door offering discounts, oil changes, etc. They are clearly doing a marketing push. I need new tires and an oil change and I thought it would be perfect to take the car just a block away. I called Monday morning, explained what I was hoping for and asked if there was a good day this week to get it done. The man on the phone said to drop by whenever. When I showed up, I told the mechanic what I was there for and he quickly told me they had no Honda Civic tires in stock (which is strange, it being one of the most common cars on the road). He said "maybe tomorrow." So I went back out to the car. Then someone else stopped me and asked for a minute to make a phone call. He said he could have tires delivered by 5 pm. Okay, I said, and the oil change? Sure, after 5. He said I needed to pay for the tires before I left, so I asked -- which tires? He looked at me like I had three heads. "I will get you good tires," he said. When I asked, again, which tires, he asked me which tires I wanted. Suffice it to say, if you come here, there is no list of tires to choose from. At this point I was just done. If you want people to come here for regular maintenance, you have to have staff who can communicate with customers and you can't just tell people to show up and then not be prepared to work on their cars. This is a great place to come in an emergency, but their attempt to become a full-service mechanic is just not ready for primetime. read more

My nephew was here from out of town when his tire clipped a sidewalk and was damaged beyond repair. Being a Saturday night, Menla was one of the few tire places open AND the only one that had the proper tire in stock. I cannot speak highly enough of this shop. We rolled in there and about 15 minutes later were out with a new tire. The price was entirely reasonable ESPECIALLY since it was a Saturday night. I got a flat tire yesterday and needed a plug for my tire. I was seen immediately by the employee. They were able to plug the tire and fill it with air. I was very happy with the service. Only thing is that there's no waiting area so if it's cold or hot outside you just have to deal! But I didn't really care because they saw me so fast and fixed the issue so quickly. This place is very horrible because they sold me a new tire and it went flat in 11 days and when I went back to get the tire replaced; they refused to replace it. Then I found out that the tire they sold was exactly a used tire and not a new tire. Then, when I ask to talk with a manager they lied and gave me the shop number instead and they messed up my TPMS. Cue Saturday afternoon, at a business meeting, I come and outside and DOH! not one but TWO flat tires......can you see the steam rising from my head on this cold day? Perhaps it melts the snowy sleet that is falling. Nah. Anywho, after waiting for AAA, I am towed to Menla. Above and beyond! Took a car here for the second time today and after realizing they couldn't fix the problem, Mike(the owner) drove me to Autozone, bought the parts for me(they were super cheap and I offered to pay but still), and then found a mechanic in the parking lot to come to the tire center and fix the car at a cheap price. I had towed the car there, so the fact that they not only cut out the work of having to find a mechanic and order parts, but also allowed the work to be done at their place by a third party, so I wouldn't have to tow it again, was so helpful and saved me a lot of time and money. Also, the first time I took my car here, I thought my tires needed patched and they realized they actually needed resealed on the rim and did it for a great price. These guys seem to be very good...with tires. But they diagnosed my slow leak as a problem with the auto-sensor valve (part of the rim...not the tire), which they offered to replace (I had to buy a new sensor at the car parts store a few blocks away). AFTER Menla installed it, they told me I had to go to the dealer to program the sensor, in order to turn off the tire pressure warning light. In other words, they didn't have the know-how to do the programming. I would have been better off using a service that could have done the programming first, which is how it's supposed to go down. Now my warning light is constantly on, and I'll probably have to pay another fee to get it turned off. I'd use Menla for a tire leak, but not for anything more complex. read more

Since I was driving to Alabama, I realized that I needed a tire. Unfortunately, all tire places were closed. I called Menla at 7:15 and the lady stated that they close at 8, but on Yelp it says 9. Anyway, David was outside, and he promptly changed my tire. He was genuinely a kind person, but the lady on the inside wasn't friendly nor was she mean. Don't be put off by their sketchy looking storefront and driveway. I woke up on a snowy day to find my car with a flat. I called to see about getting it fixed, and verified over the phone they did indeed have my size tire in stock, should I need to get it replaced. I limped over in my car (run flats), showed the guy the tire with the issue. I sat in their small waiting room, and 15 minutes and $15 later, I was on my way with a repaired tire (plug) and a 3 inch screw as a souvenir. No upsell, no hassle, no waiting. Super fast. I'd come back if I find myself in the same situation - their hours are amazing (9am-8pm!) and open on Sunday too. read more

Okay, I normally write food reviews but I had to write a review for this place. Saturday midnight, I noticed my tires were low on air. I checked the air pressure; it was at 20 psi! But because it was midnight, I couldnt worry about it then. Sunday morning, I thought to causally fill my tires at the air station at the gas station. Turned out I had a freakin' screw stuck to my tire!!!! I had to go on a long-distance business trip via driving the next day, so I was upset and in panic. I knew places were closed Sundays. I felt out of luck. Looking on Yelp, I encountered Menla Tire Center. Score! They are open SUNDAYS! Drove my poor car over there, there were already a bunch of cars waiting. When they got to me (which was pretty quick), they looked at the tire with the screw, took it off the car, and went to work right away. I closely watched what they were doing and attempted to talk to guy. He didnt speak English very well so I just watched him and said a couple of words that were understandable and made small talk Thank goodness I didnt need to replace the entire tire and all I needed was a patch. They worked very fast. I watched the whole process and it seemed like a pretty good job (I dont know much about cars but Im hoping the patch they put on will last; cross fingers!) I also asked him to check the pressure and add air on all of the tires of my car which he did, even though there was a line of cars behind me waiting to get worked on. To apply the patch on the tire and the service, it was super affordable on a student's budget! Thank goodness Menla was there for the rescue, let's hope the patch works! read more

Had a flat tire so went to them. Was told the tire couldn't be patched so I bought a new one from them (they told me they didn't have any used ones for my car). Was only really intending to get the one tire replaced but was told the tread on my other front tire was getting worn and suggested I replace both. Not sure if it was an upsell or not as I don't know anything about tires. Bought two from them, again, don't know if the deal was good and I have no idea about the brands of the tires or anything like that but I'm out driving again and there doesn't seem to be any problems so it's all good! read more
