Henry D's Restaurant - I'm not sure if this qualifies for Henry D's or just the sushi counter but it was pretty good for $10.

A new friend suggested we come here for dinner a couple of nights ago. I had never been here but…read moreshe evidently is a regular. In fact the people behind the counters greeted her by name, LOL. She also seemed to know a lot of the customers. I could see why she likes the place. The prices are reasonable and the food was pretty good. You don't feel rushed to hurry out of there either, you can relax and visit. After looking over the menu I decided to get one of the daily specials, a chicken enchilada casserole that came with two sides. I could have gotten rice and beans but it's hard to get your vegetables in when you're traveling so I ordered the collard greens and the green beans. Everything was very good. I even had leftovers to bring home. I got a bowl of soup to go with it. I think it was only $2.69 for the small size. I chose the turkey kale and it was really delicious. I decided to add in a drumstick so I could try out their Fried Chicken and when the lady behind the counter heard me say that I just wanted a piece so I could try it out she just threw a piece in for no extra charge so I could try it. The only places I could seem to find in town that serve Fried Chicken are KFC and Church's, no restaurants that I have discovered. The drumstick I ate at Henry D's was excellent, plump with meat and a nice light crunchy coating fried to a crisp. I didn't have room for dessert but they did have some peach cobbler that looked awful good. To my surprise my friend called me back this morning and asked if I wanted to go back to Henry's so we could visit a while longer. They serve breakfast until 2 or 3 o clock so I decided to get a breakfast that was about $6. It had eggs, hash browns, three large pieces of bacon and a large piece of healthy toast in some sort of whole grain bread. Everything was very good. Sometimes I splurge on a meal one day so I like to eat inexpensively the next day. I'm going to have to definitely keep this place in mind for when I want an inexpensive meal. They give you plenty of food for the price, enough to take home leftovers for another meal the next day even. They also had some pretty fresh looking sandwiches in the refrigerated section for only $2-4. They even have some guys making and serving sushi across from the American food counter. They gave me a sample and it was very good. I didn't ask the prices since I wasn't getting that. Somebody in another review said that this was a hangout for seniors and I can't disagree with that. My friend and I are both seniors although she's 15 years older than I am and most of the people I saw in there had gray hair. There were a few young families with toddlers also. My philosophy about places that attract seniors is that we appreciate good tasting food for a reasonable price and that's what this place has.

This is a "family" restaurant, not as David A. states, only for older people. It has a wide menu…read moreand serves fresh food made from scratch. The salad bar is great and prices are reasonable. It is a meeting place for people of all ages. One sees family with small children as well as older retired individuals. It is hard to believe that this is a restaurant inside a grocery store. And probably the best thing I can say about it, is that it is one of the most popular places where local residents frequent.

Henry D's Restaurant - First time I ever had the yogurt parfait with strawberries, blueberries and granola. It hit the spot.

Henry D's Restaurant - One of my favorite foods here, the lemon capellini. Unfortunately they no longer have the salad bar, only separate containers.

The Big Texan Steak Ranch is definitely an experience, not just a meal!…read more We went all in and ordered the ribeye, brisket, and ribs with sides of green chili creamed corn, fried okra, and cowboy beans. The steak was flavorful and tender, the ribs literally fell off the bone, and the brisket was solid and satisfying. The standout for me? The green chili creamed corn and fried okra, absolutely delicious and full of flavor. The cowboy beans were okay... just beans, nothing special compared to the rest of the meal. Service was superb, friendly, attentive, and made the whole experience even better. And of course, the entertainment factor is real! While we were there, we watched someone attempt the famous 72 oz steak challenge. Fun fact: it's actually cheaper to take the challenge and pay less than to just order the steak outright. That alone tells you how legendary this place is. If you're in Amarillo, this is a must-stop for both the food and the atmosphere.

FUN VIBES! My dad…read morehas been talking about this restaurant non-stop since the last time he drove through the area, all of the billboards advertising the 72 oz steak challenge really drew him in. We took a stop here for lunch recently. Our server was okay, pretty bare minimum service and I had to ask for water refills. I liked the fried pickle appetizer, however I felt the pickle spears were too thick. Andreas were good, I really enjoyed the quesadilla and my dad enjoyed his steak. There's a bit of a communal vibe inside, with long tables where you are sat next to other parties. It was fun to talk to other people also going on road trips and talk about where they're coming from and going to.
