The wait is extremely long. For a Sunday, I think there needs to be more staff. I would've ate somewhere if I knew how slow service was here

The place didn't seem too busy when we came around 1PM on a Sunday. The staff were really nice and attentive to other customers when it came to cleaning up. Inside was a little limited in seatings but it was a nice day to eat outside. The portion was smaller than expected but it was still filling. We ordered the holy chicken and country sausage and egg. I really enjoyed the maple on the chicken as it wasnt overwhelming and went well with the bacon and eggs. The waffle gave a nice crunch to the dish. Also expect the dish to be really oily. The food was really good though! read more

Bruxie - Left: COUNTRY SAUSAGE & EGG Right: HOLY CHICKEN - Chicken Shop Near Me - Davis, California

I kept seeing pictures of this place on my IG, so my friend and I got curious and planned a day in Davis just to try it out. And oh man this is my favorite place for anything chicken and waffles. Holy Chicken - The chicken was so crispy and super chunky too. I knew I was full, but I couldn't stop eating because it was so good. The egg yolk was a beautiful runny yolk. It was a great combination of sweet and savory as it had a bit of syrup on it as well. The waffle part was fluffy and really enhances the texture. Loaded Waffle Fries - Very crispy and their house sauce for this was so flavorful Lemon Cream and Berries Waffle Sandwich - Perfect dessert for this meal. The tartness of the lemon cream and the sweetness of the blueberries gave a great contrast to our main entrée after eating The reason for my one start deduction deals more with the layout of the store. The place where all the utensils, napkins, sauce, and water station are located is placed at the tightest intersection of the store behind the cashier. I had to do that awkward dance with a few other customers when we tried to pass each other. Another note is the only menu to view is right at the cashier, which I recommend maybe taping up a paper menu on one of the walls away from the cashier so we can take our time to look over the menu without feeling the pressure of holding up the line or having the person at the counter looking at us the whole time. read more

Bruxie - Chicken Shop Near Me - Davis, California

So, uhh...what happened to you, Bruxie? Given how much I thoroughly enjoyed my visits to their now-shuttered spots in Irvine and Vegas, I assumed we'd be in for more of the same when we decided to come here for lunch. While I typically would've preferred to find something new or different to try instead, checking out Bruxie's only NorCal location seemed like a good alternative considering how we were pressed for time! Sadly, it only made the whole experience all the more disappointing... Between their fairly central location in downtown Davis and the complex's huge parking lot, everything about coming here was surprisingly easy. This outpost is a bit smaller than either of the Bruxies that I've been to before, but snagging a table here was a breeze even on a Saturday for lunch (though, I wonder if that would still be the case when UC Davis is in session). As far as the menu goes, a few things looked new (like their spiced tots and coffee drinks), and things seem to have been taken off (I remember seeing a BBQ fried chicken waffle sandwich before), but all of the main offerings are still present and accounted for - chicken and waffles, classic and breakfast fried chicken waffle sandwiches, and dessert waffles. -- CHICKEN & WAFFLES - Two Jumbo Chicken Tenders, Bruxie Waffle, Butter, and Pure Vermont Maple with Extra Jumbo Chicken Tender (+$3)...$14.50 More solid than spectacular, but not bad. The batter didn't have the "crunch" I had hoped for, but it was well seasoned and the chicken was moist. As for the waffle, it was crispy on the outside, but it did feel a fairly thick as it cooled off. -- ORANGE DREAMSICLE SHAKE...$7.50 Not too shabby. The consistency wasn't super thick and its all too familiar creamy orange flavor was even more enjoyable given the hot weather. It did get to be a bit too sweet for me by the end, but I can't say I didn't expect that to happen either. -- CARAMEL COLD BREW - 24 Hour Cold Brew with Bruxie Housemade Cold Foam...$5.50 This is more of a casual coffee drink than a caffeine fix, but this was actually pretty decent. The caramel wasn't overpowering, the coffee didn't have any bitterness to it, and the overall taste wasn't as sweet as I feared (though, it is still sweet). -- HOLY CHICKEN - Maple Glazed Chicken, Applewood Smoked Bacon, Cheddar, Sriracha Mayo, Sunny Side Up Egg...$14 While the both the waffle and chicken itself were mostly fine, the rest of this was decidedly not. The chicken was more drenched than glazed with syrup, leaving a gloppy, sickeningly sweet mess. What's more, rather than whole strips, this had chopped up bits of bacon and fat. Blech. -- SPICED TOTS...$4.50 Quite simply, these were fantastic. Fried to a deliciously golden brown, crispy, not at all oily, and seasoned enough to add a lot of flavor yet not enough to overpower everything. As underwhelming as the food was, especially when compared to my past experiences, the service here was actually fantastic. I've seen some folks mention that the food can take a while to come out, but I didn't think it was that bad, especially since everything is made to order (kind of important with the waffles). Regardless, I loved how friendly and helpful the staff was, whether it was grabbing extra utensils for us or with recommending dishes to the newcomers ahead of us in line. Even if the food had been better, they'd still be the best thing about this Bruxie (or any of the other Bruxies, to be honest). All in all, Bruxie isn't a bad option for a quick brunch type of offering or if you're in the mood for some chicken tenders and tots. Really, you could do a whole lot worse. That said, despite how awesome the service was, there's no getting around the fact that what I had here mostly pales in comparison to what I've had in the past. Hopefully this was just a one-off or that I have better luck if/when I should come back again, because I truly am stoked to see a Bruxie open up (mildly) close to the Bay Area. read more

I visited Bruxie during the UC Davis Picnic. The complex of restaurants on the edge of campus and downtown Davis were all busy, but as we entered Bruxie, we were greeted by all the staff, including the cooks. Everyone was so friendly and hospitable. Their menu includes every possibility of chicken items, including chicken and waffles. There are also burgers, burritos, salads and shakes. I ordered the Original, which is a huge chicken breast with homemade slaw and Chili Honey Sauce, which is the best. My wife had three Jumbo Tenders with Waffle Fries. I have never seen chicken tenders this big. Thank goodness I was there to help her finish them. It came with a choice of sauces, but we stayed with the Chili Honey Sauce, which is so good. I wish they sold that in big bottles. Maybe they did and I just didn't see it. Bruxie had a special on three menu items, which got you food and a drink for $12.00. Wow, that was a lot of food for $12.00. We were stuffed but after such a great meal, we decided to take some more food items home to try out later. We ordered the Breakfast Burrito, a grilled tortilla with fried chicken, eggs, cheese, tots and sauce. We also added avocado. It was so good and bigger than any burrito from Chipotle. If you are hungry, anytime of day, that burrito will do it for you. We also ordered the Habanero Honey Hot Sandwich. It had homemade slaw, pickle, and a honey mustard sauce. I reheated it up in my oven perfectly. Bruxie has free parking right behind the restaurant, so it's easy for to-go orders. They also have patio seating and seating out in front by the lawn. All these years I've been coming to Davis from Sacramento and wondering where to go to eat that is reasonable and has parking nearby? Now I have the perfect place! Enjoy! read more

I came in a few days ago and I was expecting it to be amazing like it was when i came in around February and again in april. I have been coming in about every 3 or so months since last year when they changed management and you could tell it was ran better. I drive up from vacaville just for this chicken. This time I was heavily dissapointed. I did not see the manager i enjoyed speaking with but it was dirty and sticky. The lady in there looked sloppy and was not wearing gloves while cooking my food. When i asked her why she was not using gloves she responded she did not need to and gave me a dirty look. I asked if the old manager was there and she said no she is gone. I really wish this place was still as good as before. Dont think i will be going back any time soon. Also called the city, there is no way this place would pass an inspection. read more

The staff was nice and very good costumer service. The building had AC and it is really hot outside!

Finally a Bruxie in our area! They picked a great location in downtown Davis but for some reason this particular spot is always ever changing, so I hope that they'll survive! Parking can be difficult here but we came at 4pm in the afternoon so there was plenty (plus charging stations!). The thing that stood out here is the service! They were very welcoming and explained everything to us as soon as we walked in. We sat outside on the patio but they brought our food out, and even checked on us afterward! The loaded fries were nice and crispy. Kinda wish they came with chicken instead of bacon but otherwise they were good. Our kids liked the grilled cheese waffle sandwich too, which is on the regular menu, not the kids menu. Loved that they had sweet tea on the menu which was super refreshing in the heat. Overall great spot for fast casual food but something more elevated than a chain! read more

For being new, this restaurant did better than some I've seen in the first few weeks. I was excited when I heard a bruxie was opening near Sacramento since I've only had it in LA (those are the closest location). Customer service here was great. Everyone was really nice and helpful. I came at a time when it wasn't so crowded, but there was still a steady stream of customers. I ordered a 2 jumbo tenders and fries to go and waited about 15 minutes. But when I got to my car, one of the ranches spilled in the box. I also got creamy honey mustard and ranch, but received 2 ranches. Went back in and let them know what happened. Waited another 5 minutes and checked my order again when I got in my car, but only saw 1 ranch and no honey mustard. I was a bit tired and didn't want to go back in a third time so just drove home. The place is laid out a bit weird where it's like a Craftsman building layout. In the front half of the restaurant is the order counter, a bench for sitting when you're waiting for an order, and we can view employees preparing your food. The back half of the restaurant has in house seating. There's also an outside patio with plenty of seating. The food was good. Just like I had in socal. I would just check your order in store before leaving. I'll be back soon and hopefully they'll have a good rhythm going and be able to get the order correctly. Bruxies is probably my favorite chicken tender place. read more

I tried out Bruxie in LA long ago, glad to say the quality here matches what I remember enjoying. The chicken tenders are incredibly juicy and seasoned well, while the waffle is crisp on the outside and fluffy on the inside. Very satisfying to eat. Also the waffle fries have a nice firm bite to it and are also packing a lot of flavor. Only cons are service was a bit slow but that's because they just opened recently. Prices are on the higher side for the smallish portions but the quality makes it justified. read more

Bruxie - Original sandwich - Chicken Shop Near Me - Davis, California

I ordered some Bruxie on DoorDash on Thursday night at around 8:30 pm. My order was delivered at 9:15 pm and was fresh and hot and waffles were still crispy. Only miss was the fact that we ordered two side orders of waffle fries (an additional $4.39 per side) and there were no waffle fries with our order - and that the restaurant closed at 9 pm so no one was there to fix this order that evening. Everything was delicious - we hadn't tried Bruxie before and weren't sure what to order, but we got the fried chicken and waffles with waffle fries, strawberries and whipped cream waffle, the crispy chicken sandwich with waffle fries and the original (fried chicken, coleslaw, hot honey). Mine was the original and it was fantastic - best fried chicken and waffle I've had at a restaurant for sure. Again, this is definitely a five star experience - but I took one star off due to the two missing waffle fries sides. read more

Heard so much about this place and couldn't wait to try! I'm glad I went early to beat the lunch crowd, and ordering was simple and straightforward. Of course I had to get their signature The Original, and for good measure, I threw in another chicken & waffle along with a honey hot chicken sandwich. Overall, the meal was delicious and filling. You can definitely taste the spiciness in the sandwich so make sure you have a drink nearby to cool down. The chicken tenders were a bit dry and chewy, but pairs fairly nicely with the waffles. As much as I would like to eat this every day, I don't think my heart can handle it! read more

Stopped off in my old stomping grounds on the way back from Tahoe to visit Bruxie. I was surprised to find that there is a Bruxie here because the only one that I went to previously is in Orange County, like 350 miles away! This is the place to go for chicken and waffles as they know how to cook them just right. I got the hot chicken and waffle and the spiciness level was just right for me. I usually don't use syrup but it's Canadian maple so I had to try it! I must say that I didn't feel great after the meal, but that's more or less because my diet has been really clean lately so having so much carbs and fried food was probably a bit shocking to my system. I don't regret it though! read more

When we showed up, there was a sign at the register that said due to having no staffing someone would come back later to take our order (there were no employees there at the moment). However, there was no timestamp on the note so we had no idea how long this had been there. Anyway, one look around the empty kitchen let us know all we needed to. It was a mess and we definitely lost our desire to eat there. Headed to my Burma next door. Which was stellar. read more

Craving waffles and chicken tenders? Or something sweet? Serves breakfast items to dessert items, a lot of variety. Strolling through downtown with my friends, came upon Bruxie, a waffle sandwich shop, I believe Davis is their first location in NorCal. Ordered a chicken & waffles ($15.70 with tax), which was really delicious. Also ordered custard ($5). You're able to see everything being made when you enter the restaurant. The seating is behind the ordering counter, so it is not too loud. Order at the counter and sit anywhere you like. There's also a rewards program, free item if you sign up. My order took about 12 minutes, comes with 2 pieces of chicken and a waffle. The chicken tender is quite juicy compared to another chicken place down the street (Cane's) and seasoned with different types of herbs. The employee also checked on what we thought about the food, so awesome service. My friends thought that Bruxie tastes better than a soul food restaurant in Sacramento as well. The waffle is quite light and with crunch. The small bottle of syrup is definitely enough for this meal. As for the custard, it's definitely tastes more eggy,a bit of salt mixed with sugar. I definitely want to come back here for dessert and try their sweet waffle sandwiches (berries with Nutella or lemon cream or creme brûlée). read more

Absolutely the best chicken and waffle place in Davis and greater Sacramento area! Waffles are crispy on the outside and just right on the inside, and tbe chicken has a very nice fried exterior, juicy and flavorful on the inside. Sonia took our order - she was very nice and informative. She even came out while we were eating to make sure everything was good. We chatted a bit about the sauces. Ambience is good, good music and pretty clean. Perfect lunch or dinner. Oh by the way the waffle fries, of course, were amazing. Highly recommended!! read more

Ordered the buttermilk fried chicken salad and the loaded waffle fries and both were delicious! I'd say they are a little sauce-heavy so I asked for the dressing on the side for the salad. I usually don't get salads but it was loaded with a ton of toppings including egg, avocado, tomato, and cheese. Great balance with the other fried items! Service was also great (shoutout Hailey). Mainly outdoor seating, but some inside. Prices are on par with other Davis restaurants. read more

FINALLY. Been waiting for my socal cravings up in davis. I grew up lovin bruxie and was rly excited to finally have one in davis. To start off- the original chicken & waffle sandwich was SO GOOD. 11/10. waffle had perfect crisp to it while being super soft. chicken was perfectly drenched in chili honey & topped with coleslaw. So yumz. Service can be improved but i'm not complaining bc i came on the second day of opening & there were A TON of ppl. we waited 1 hr for our food (lol) BUT the staff was rly sweet & kept checking in. There was a lot of seating in the back of restaurant and outdoors but it was PACKED. I can see this place def being a popular spot in davis and I'd say it's worth the experience. Maybe not so much the wait but the food doesn't disappoint! read more

At long last Davis has a sparkling clean, welcoming place to buy the best fried chicken breast this fried chicken aficionado has feasted on. We ordered 10 - pieces of tender, juicy fried chicken breast (much bigger than the usual strips) with three different sauces to dip them in. Everything from ordering and paying online, to collection at the restaurant was seamless. There was plenty of parking; the restaurant was gleaming; the employees and management were warm and welcoming; our order was ready right on time, and the beautifully boxed, traditional chicken breast was definitely 5-Star. We enjoyed it with our own salad and beverages at home. At around $3 a piece, Bruxie turns out to be not only delicious, but also an excellent value when combined with your own salad fixins or sides. read more

After our first visit, we unfortunately won't be returning any time soon- we waited 30 minutes for 2 orders of chicken and waffles to go. Still, we were excited to get home and try. Went to try it 2 different times. Left with bad impression both times. As a new transfer to Davis I wanted to find a local fried chicken spot and this placed looked great from the pictures. Showed up, ordered, and was waiting excitedly. Staff comes by and tells us they're out of chicken and the fries and inform us it'll be an hour wait time. All good more than happy to sit. They come back and tell us another hour. We later that day without food but hoping it was a one time thing and excited to go back. Second time we came and ordered got our food and it just didn't look the same as the photos. Tater tots looked store bought, they still had no fries, and the waffle was thin and flavorless. Chicken too wasn't as good as other reviews said they were. Overall the place was constant let downs and the food was subpar. read more

Nice restaurant. Great service and food. I can't wait to come back and support this wonderful establishment!!

So, this is a mixed review. The food is a 5. The chicken is great--I've had the tenders and the chicken and waffles. Each were wonderful. The shakes are also amazing, though they have started downsizing the size of the shakes (but for the same price). For takeout--wonderful. The downside--the ambiance is a 1. Put simply, the eating area smells like an uncleaned toilet. Sat outside last time we went because the smell inside was too strong. My girlfriend and I wretched when we had to walk back inside to leave. (My gf's daughter didn't have the same reaction, I must admit.) I don't get it. It's an amazing place, with an indoor dining area that is distinctly inhospitable. Get take out. read more

My go-to in Davis for breakfast sandwiches. Their brioche breakfast sandwich with the fried chicken is so flavorful and filling and hard to beat for just $8, and I'm not normally a fried chicken fan. Juicy chicken but batter kept falling off everytime I bit into it. Waffle was really fluffy and had nice crispy edges. Tried a little place in Davis called Bruxie, This place serves waffles with everything from fruit to chicken to eggs and bacon. The pictures are deceiving as the waffles look big and thick but they are not, and this is not a bad thing as this is a lighter meal than what you would think. The waffles are on the thinner side but are light and crispy and actually tasted great, we also tried the waffle and fruit sandwich which was light and refreshing and very good, and we had to order the orange dreamsicle, which tastes like the old 50/50 ice cream bars and drinks, and that was very good. The service was good the lady at the counter was friendly and helpful when it came to helping us decide on what to order. The seating on the inside was nothing to write about, but the outside was nice and shady with a great view of all the people walking and riding their bikes through, as this is in a nice relaxed area in Davis. Decided to come in today as I've been wanting to come here for a long time, but the drive is a little long. Waited almost 10 mins standing at the register before I was even acknowledged. Finally got the opportunity to order. Tried to order the Nutella and strawberry waffle that is on their menu currently just to be told that they discontinued them and they just haven't gotten new menus yet. Not even an apology about this . After that, I tried to order loaded waffle fries just to be told that they didn't have any waffle fries and they had just ran to the grocery store so only had regular fries from the store "down the street" . Why would I pay $15 for a loaded waffle fries when they were just store-bought frozen fries? Make that make sense. Chicken was just sitting out pre-fried for an undisclosed amount of time because nobody else was there but one person waiting for a milkshake (sidenote they messed up her order) so I was not gonna order chicken because I did not want chicken that has been sitting there for goodness how long . Ended up walking out and deciding not to order. read more

The chicken and waffle sandwich was super hearty and flavorful. The chicken tenders are juicy and go great with the dipping sauces! We even tried some of the spicy flavors that are quite spicy! The waffle fries and tots pair well with the chicken. The strawberry lemonade was on the sweeter side. There are both indoor and outdoor seating. read more

Having experienced Bruxie at their locations when I lived in Southern California, I was delighted to hear that they were expanding north. For dinner, my husband, and I made the trek to Davis and met up with my dad and some of his friends. The location inhabits a former vegetarian burger spot so Bruxie could not be farther from that aesthetic. Not really craving waffles or a sandwich, I decided to just order three of their Nashville hot chicken tenders with fries. Nashville chicken has been the rage for quite some time so I was not surprised to see Bruxie's interpretation of it. The tenders were massive and had the perfect level of heat. I ended up nibbling a little bit of some mac & cheese. That was also quite tasty. All in all, I think is a great addition to the UC Davis college campus area. read more

Loved the box and presentation. And the small bottle the maple syrup came in was such a good touch. Ordered the chicken and waffles. A bit overpriced at about $15 with one waffle and 2 heavily seasoned chicken tenders; not even a combo. All the chicken flavor was on the outside and the meat itself was flavorless but juicy. My friend and boyfriend really liked it. It wasn't bad but I probably wouldn't go out of my way to order this. read more
