I've known about Bruxie since 2012, but I hadn't had the opportunity to try it until 2022. My friend and I ordered the Chicken Nashville Hot with strawberry lemonade, and my friend ordered the Holy Chicken. At first, I was nervous because despite my excitement, I loathe waffles. However, the waffles were not soggy or dry, both of which give me PTSD. Instead, it was the correct texture and very much enjoyable. The chicken was also moist, and the portions were just right. Other than that, the waffle sandwiches were everything that I would expect. Not an average, but also not an outstanding, hence the 4/5. I also liked the strawberry lemonade, since it had a good amount of strawberry bits and lemonade. However, it was definitely on the sweeter side, and the lemon's acidity killed my throat having watered down and adding ice to it. In terms of seating, there is seating outside near the street as well as indoors. What's unique is it is directly open to the outside and so there is no door per se. While we wanted to sit outside, the mist to cool off unfortunately kept blowing towards us, and we ended up sitting indoors. read more

This place is better than Roscoes, sorry not sorry. We been here numerous times, while we've tried other stuff on their menu our go-to order is always "the original" sandwich. You can order the sandwich by itself or as a combo which will come with their waffle fries (fire if you never tried it) and a drink. If you're craving for something creamy and thiiick definitely try out one of their frozen custard shakes. We ordered "The Original" sandwich by itself with fried pickles. And sheesh Bruxie never fails to hit the spot. I'm telling you... their waffle is super crispy and the chicken is so tender and when you take the first bite, it just makes you smile automatically lol. Their fried pickles is something to try for sure as well, it's just the right amount of saltness and goes so well with the sandwich. So if you haven't been here and you like chicken & waffles, you need to give this place a shot. Whoa! I've been a fan of Bruxie since years and years ago. I have made handful of visits in the past years. And yet, I've never reviewed this place? Let's fix it. Brea's treasure, Bruxie, is a well known fried chicken and waffle place. Comfort food with their own unique twist. I think they're more waffle-centric, from what I recall in their menu. Most items are waffle-style sandwich. I've tried a number of things in the past, but since my memory is certainly faint by this point, I will get a fresh take by ordering the classic "The Original" combo, with a fried chicken waffle, some seasoned/spicy tater tots, and drink. So the waffle sandwich itself is a piece of fried chicken breast, with some cole slaw, drowned in chili honey sauce, placed between a crunchy waffle. First off, the slaw, WAYYYYYYYYYY boring. The chicken breast, while nicely fried, actually lacked flavor that I was expecting! It was what I call "fine". But hey! I was expecting nothing short of spectacular. What happened, Bruxie? The chili honey sauce is definitely a saving grace when the chicken came up short. The sauce doesn't seem too hard to make--it's mostly just straight up honey mixed in with either chili flakes, chili sauce, or hot sauce? It's not groundbreaking, but it didn't need to be to be tasty. The waffle, on the other hand, was so crispy and most likely the best waffle I've had in my life thus far? Is that possible? It's light and got a great bite. Crunchy on the outside, and soft on the inside. The spiced tots got a kick that I really dug! Dipped them in ketchup! Or the chili honey sauce! Even by itself! It's all so good. To say the least, I am very shocked by this experience. I don't recall the chicken being inferior and the waffle being that good. I most certainly don't remember AT ALL the tater tots stealing the show. But that's what went down in this visit. Oh life is so full of surprises. Overall, Bruxie failed to wow me. But I was aptly satisfied. And oh, the drink is just a drink. Fountain style. You apparently can sub the waffle with a brioche bun. But why?! It's all about the waffles here at Bruxie, yo. All together, this was like, $18? It's outrageously overpriced, even by today's runaway inflation standard. Definitely not something I can afford regularly. But that can be a good thing! These delicious treats are undoubtedly high in calories and fat, so I'll have to work around to fit them into my lifestyle. But when I do, it's worth the cheat meal. If I plan it right, I think I would have room for dessert too. Their dessert waffles and frozen custard are all worth trying. Food that makes me go "yum!" I used to come to Bruxie all the time with my family as a child. I grew up absolutely loving this place. However, after going multiple times recently, I have been bombarded with disappointment after disappointment. Every time I have gone there recently, the chicken was either extremely salty or unseasoned. The waffles are solid and are basically hard crackers which is something I do not appreciate. The service here is mediocre at best. The only 2 positive things about this place are the drinks and the overall aesthetic of this place. This is just a tourist trap and I don't think I'll ever come here agajn. read more

02/21/2025 - Arrived 9:59pm, just a minute before closing. We still got served by the very friendly staff two ladies, unfortunately, I did not get their names, but they should be recognized for being on top and a very accommodating experience for a last-minute visit. I ordered the two tenders with fries, and my friend ordered the strawberry crème brûlée waffles. It was unexpected, but they gave me an extra piece of chicken tender so that was nice of them for my first time visit !I was skeptical on my decision to get either the Bruxie sauce or the ranch sauce. I asked the staff member what is the Bruxie sauce, I got the response that it was supposedly a similar version of the Chick-fil-A sauce only sweeter. But anyways! By golly, I decided to get the ranch and holy cow. I was very impressed with the seasoning on their waffle fries, and freshly prepared chicken tenders. My friend definitely enjoyed his order of the strawberry crème brûlée waffles. Sad to see the quality go down in this place. I've been to this place a few times and it always USED TO BE good. As of lately, the quality has gone down a lot. I ordered a salad and they topped it with spoiled avocado on top of wilted lettuce. They also don't carry any Vinaigrette or chipotle sauce anymore.Last time our sandwich was soggy and our loaded fries were undercooked. Food quality is too inconsistent. Boy was I wrong I should've gotten my shakes here all the time! It's made from fresh strawberries too! It's fast casual restaurant so we order and pay at the cashier. We sat at the outdoor artificial lawn area in downtown Brea which was pretty nice. Our waitress was super friendly and fast. I didn't expect any service for just getting a shake. Bruxie is an Orange County staple. They've been dishing out fried chicken and waffles for a long time and they know what they're doing. They've got all fried chicken and waffles combinations - Nashville style, original breakfast with eggs and desserts too. If you haven't had Bruxie before, the waffles will taste new to you. They're crunchy yet airy and extremely buttery pillowy. The fried chicken is seasoned very well and crunchy to the bite. For what you pay, it's not a bad deal also. This location is a very touristy one so expect a line when ordering. Regardless, the food comes out quick and fresh. Indoor seating is limited but there's plenty of outside seating. The staff here is extremely professional and quick to your needs. So far, we've tried four different Bruxie locations. The one at orange is undefeated since it's the OG location, Huntington Beach location which has since closed, the south coast plaza one which doesn't fare too well to the original location. Came here this past Sunday and i really had a good time here. When i came it was pretty busy luckily they had a lot of outside seating. We ordered our food and it came out quickly. Everything was super fresh and hot. Got the Nashville hot waffle sandwich and the jumbo Nashville hot chicken tenders. With tenders we got to choose two sides sauce which was ranch and chipotle mayo. Bruxie I always order the regular waffle with the traditional buttermilk fried chicken. They are known for their waffles, and it's for good reason. The outside consistency is light and crunchy and the inside melts in your mouth. The fried chicken is also spiced and breaded pretty well, one of the better fried chickens that I've had in my life. I usually order it with the white ranch sauce on the side. All of the waffle orders come with maple syrup in their specialty mini bottles. However, it seems shrinkflation has hit hard. I'm not sure at what point they stopped including a free sauce with your order of fried chicken, but now you have to pay $0.50 extra for every sauce you want with your order... keep in mind the dish itself is already around $14. I've started to notice that the chicken tenders themselves seem to be looking a little bit smaller than usual too... Missed Bruxie so much during COVID. So glad the Brea location is open again because who doesn't love a great sandwich nestled within two perfectly crispy waffles? Sound a little weird? My husband thought so too until I dragged him with me on a late night run many years ago, and he also fell in love with the Bruxie waffle sandwiches. Craving chicken, pastrami, breakfast, or dessert? Bruxie got you covered. If you're a brunch, sweet-and-savory, or just-down-for-a-new-food-experience type of person, this is definitely the spot you need to try. This Bruxie occupies a prime location and corner spot in Downtown Brea (nearly adjacent to the movie theater). There is street parking and a nearby garage that services many of the businesses in Downtown Brea. Parking is therefore fairly easy to find with a little patience during high traffic times since people are frequently leaving and coming in. Service at the Brea Bruxie location is always friendly and efficient. My most recent visit during COVID had a line wrapped around the corner. Staff did a great job of moving customers through the line and filling orders quickly. They were offering customers free drinks to thank them for staying in line and to tie them over while their orders were being prepared. Although most people were taking their orders to go, they currently have limited seating in their outdoor patio area if you'd like to dine on site. As for order recommendations, I've had my share of sandwiches over the years and haven't tried a bad item yet. My all time favorite is the Holy Chicken! A large piece of chicken dipped in maple, fixed between two crispy delicious waffles and served with sriracha mayo, bacon, light cheese, and the perfect runny egg, the Holy Chicken is a brunch lover's dream sandwich. Definitely a unique take on a chicken and waffle dish. Pair it with some tots and you're all set. There are a handful of other options if you or someone in your party aren't into the whole waffle sandwich idea. However, if you're adventurous and intrigued about the concept, go with you instinct and give Bruxie's in Brea a try. Looking forward to my next visit and trying more waffley goodness. read more

Bruxie is my ideal waffle sandwich place because: 1. It's not as greasy or heavy as some of the old-time authentic chicken and waffles locations(which my sensitive stomach is grateful for). 2. The waffle and chicken are always perfectly crispy on the outside with completely cooked, but still moist interiors. 3. THE POTATOES - The fries and tater tots are SO underrated! Talk about the perfectly salted, crunchy crust ratio to potato-y filling!! 4. There are so many more "fresh" options other than fried chicken and waffles (a favorite of mine is the green eggs and ham or the turkey club). I actually don't like their sweet waffles because for some reason, I always choke on the powdered sugar (It doesn't happen to me with powdered sugar donuts, cookies, etc) - not sure if it's just me though! Their lemonades and sodas are also too sweet for me, so much so that I'd rather get a refresher from Starbucks across the street because the refreshers are a lot less sweet in comparison. I was actually waffling between giving this place 2 or 3 stars (haha, get it?), but an employee came up in clutch at the end and made our experience much more enjoyable. I guess they're in the process of training new hires or something cuz the dude at the cashier asked us multiple times if we were dining in or taking out, and we said we were dining in, multiple times as well. He was also whispering, making it so much harder to hear behind the mask and from the hustle and bustle of the restaurant. We waited for over 20 minutes (I checked in right when we got there) and it wasn't only until we went to check up on our order that we realized that they made our order to go and it was left cold on the counter. Someone else apologized and we waited another 10 or so minutes for our food, which unfortunately came out lukewarm. We got the: 1) Strawberry Lemonade: -Nothing too special and fancy here. Just regular strawberry lemonade. 2) The Original Fried Chicken & Waffle Sandwich: -The chili honey was mostly sweet, but the slight heat paired with the crunchiness of the coleslaw made it pretty nice. -However, compared to the rest of what we ordered, it paled in comparison. 3) Holy Chicken!: -The sunny side up egg had nice crisp edges and the pieces of bacon were pretty big! -It had enough cheese, but because it didn't come out fresh, so it had already solidified. -It didn't look like much, but I was completely full afterwards. 4) Chicken & Waffles with Applewood Smoked Bacon & Egg Upgrade: -Pretty large portions, however; looking at everything else, it's literally the same thing, except with different presentation. -Comes with a side of maple syrup. -My bro said it was alright. 5) Spiced Tots: -It's a small portion, but the spicy seasoning is pretty nice. This was the only thing that came out hot. 6) Waffle Fries: -Bland, not warm, and not crispy either, but we dipped it in some of the extra sauce that came with our meals, so that worked out. So at this point I was ready to give this place 2 stars because it took forever to get our food which was lukewarm and not that stellar and we didn't get our water until we were 75% done with our food, but one of the workers got us extra waffle fries and then gave us 2 desserts on the house. That's good customer service and definitely bumped up our review. For desserts we got the: 1) Nutella & Banana Sweet Waffle Sandwich: -Not bad, reminds me of a Nutella Banana crepe. -Gooey warm Nutella with the sweet powdered sugar on the warm crispy waffle, with bananas? Delicious. 2) Creme Brulee & Strawberries Sweet Waffle Sandwich: -My fav of the two. Very, very sweet, indulgent and yummy. -The strawberries weren't sour, very sweet, loved it. -Sweet, gooey, crispy edged torched creme brulee. Worth it. I frequented this place when I would come to see a movie at Edwards and shopped at HomeGoods afterwards with my galfriends. I love how a lot of the places that I love are so close to each other. Order your food right at the entrance and stand to the side or if you want to eat it there, they do allow you to sit at their outside patio area. The food is as you would expect. Crispy airy waffle with the right about of battered and juicy chicken. Make sure to ask for more maple syrup to add to each bite! It's been over eight years since I've been to a Bruxie location. I've only tried the original location in Orange once and never went back. I liked the chicken but was never crazy about using waffles for a sandwich. I know it's gone through several changes since then so decided to give this location a try. I prefer this location over the Orange location because it's bigger and has more seating. Parking is more convenient too since there are few parking structures in this area. I noticed menu has gone through quite a change over the years. I was glad to see regular sandwiches (using Portuguese buns) on the menu in addition to waffle sandwiches. In some of the older photos I noticed there were spicy chicken options as well. I'm not sure why those are no longer offered since the recent craze seems to be hot Nashville chicken. I ordered the El Jefe sandwich for myself and got 6-piece chicken tenders & fries for my wife and kids. Chicken was flavored well. I really liked whatever seasoning they put on both chickens. Neither were spicy but just had really good flavor. I would've preferred a crispier texture though. The sandwich was much better than the waffle sandwich I had in the past. Regular bun made it a much better sandwich. I wish it would offer regular bun as an option on all other sandwiches. El Jefe had jalapeño slaw, chipotle mayo, and red onion.
