I have to be honest, the first time I tried Bruxie, I wasn't really a fan. I had the Chicken & Waffles the first time and I just wasn't pleased with it. It was just OK...the chicken was dry and bland. However, I've been back several times since and I have to say my favorite is the Smoked Salmon & Dill Waffle (with cream cheese on the side). Also, the Roasted Mushroom & Goat Cheese waffle is really good too. Don't forget to get their waffle fries too! And if you still have room for dessert the Creme Brulee is pretty good too. Having said all that, their waffles can use some improvement I think. It is pretty thin and flaky...but overall, the food is good. This is why I'm only giving them 3 stars. Considering how packed this place gets, they serve food pretty quickly and the staff is always really friendly. Seats are limited, but I never really have a problem finding somewhere to sit. read more

I've only been to Bruxie once and I can't wait to go back!! The waffle is so crispy and buttery and goooooood. I got the special that day: hash with eggs. Boyfriend got the pastrami. We also ordered sweet ones: seasonal creme brulee and smores. The special was a little heavy, but still good. The seasonal creme brulee was delicious! Light custard with strawberries.. ohhh it was perfect with the waffle. The smores was a little too sweet for me, but my boyfriend loved it. All sandwiches were quickly devoured. This place is BOMB. My hubby and I usually get the Original Fried Chicken & Waffle sandwich. The waffle has a perfect texture of being crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside, and the fried chicken is basted in a spicy Nashville sauce and nestled in Swiss cheese. We also tried their breakfast sandwiches (the Bacon, Cheddar, & Egg and the Prosciutto, Swiss Cheese, Egg, & Arugula). Both delicious. If you're feelin' some warm waffle sandwiches, then this is place is the perfect quick & easy place to go! It's located in heart of downtown brea, and they have an outdoor seating area with long tables which are great for groups, as well as some small booths. Sometimes you may get an unlucky table with some sticky syrup, from the previous person who ate there, but I didn't mind wiping it off myself. I've only gone here during the week, so it's never crowded and the service is really fast. All the food here is extremely filling and satisfying! The service was good, the ingredients were fresh, but it just didn't tantalize my taste buds like I was expecting. My taste buds felt the waffle tasted like an Eggo and the ingredients were the same as any other place I would have had a fried chicken patty and tuna melt. I finally had a chance to try out the new Bruxie location! This one's located at the heart of old town Brea next to the Edward's. First impressions... DANG that's one huge sign and YAY they actually have alot of the seating at this location!! Having regular patron at the original Orange location I was excited to see how this one faired against the OG. Sadly i have to sad this location isn't quite as good for some reason. First the famous waffle fries just didn't seem as fresh. Yes they were crunchy as usual, but not the same type of crunch... this almost reminded me of those Burger King fries instead. :( They also don't have as many specials as the Orange location. They seem to only have one special a day, pulled pork for the rest of the month it seems. But hey they do have a larger selection of drinks, including some interesting grape soda. We'll definitely be back again to try out our usual favorites to do more comparisons... read more

So each of us ordered something different so we can all try it. Fried Chicken n Waffles - Probably the best out of the bunch we ordered. Fried sliced chicken breast glazed in honey complimented with lightly covered cole slaw. Chicken was cooked well, tender white meat. Prosciutto and Gruyere Waffle - Eh, I didn't like it much. The prosciutto was a but salty for me. Moving alone... Mushroom w/ goat cheese and Arugula Waffle - Great for vegetarians. I'm not a huge fan of goat cheese, but the sauteed mush, mixed with arugula, made it a nice combination. Smoked salmon w/ cream cheese Waffle- nothing wrong with these ingredient, but I'd rather have it with a bagel. I am definitely a fan! I've been there about 4-5 times and it's become my preferred place to go before/after going to the movies in Downtown Brea. Of what I've ordered in the past: Buttermilk Fried Chicken & Waffle- I think my least favorite so far. It was the first time I ordered anything at Bruxie's and what was recommended to me. It was good the first bite- I could taste a bit of that honey but it became too subtle- and after the entire thing was tasteless. Irish Nachos- my favorite savory waffle- essentially waffle fries with a homemade cheese sauce, sour cream and bacon. YUM, the best. Seasoned Creme Brulee- You wouldn't think that the two (creme brulee & waffles) would fit together but it's actually really not bad! The waffles add another level of crunch, and you still get that crisp of that burnt layer of the creme brulee. They also add some fruits and berries. Lemon Cream and Berries- My favorite dessert! I love the tartness & slight sourness against creaminess, the sweetness of the berries and the crunch of the waffle. Strawberry Cheesecake- seasonal and awesome- pretty much a bit of cheesecake, strawberries and the waffle. Frozen Custard- also yum! Rich and smooth, although if you take a bite of your lemon cream and berries waffle dessert in between spoonfuls of frozen custard, you will lose the sweetness of the custard. :C Pure Cane Sugar- a little overly sweet, but I liked my Root Beer. For the most part, I've had disappointing sandwiches which weren't crispy enough on the outside, or savory enough. Bruxie is what I've been looking for. I love how the waffle is nice and crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, and light in flavor which allows whatever is inside to stand out. I got the turkey club. The applewood bacon is amazingly flavorful, and delicious (especially on the Irish Nacho fries). The pesto, avocado, and nice crisp lettuce helped the sandwich taste fresh. The waffle fries are good. I've had soggy waffle fries before, but these are crispy. The sauce goes great with the applewood bacon. My bf got the fried chicken and waffle. It was okay. I didn't like it as much as the turkey club. We also got a premium chocolate peanut butter shake. It didn't disappoint. It was thick, and creamy. Overall I liked the choices on the menu. Everything sounded delicious. I liked the quality of the waffle. Everyone who was working was friendly, and prompt, even though it was a busy day. I would return. Preface: To be honest, I disike Roscoe's (I know, blasphemous). I understand that soul food is supposed to comfort you, but the chicken & waffles at Roscoe's are honestly just too greasy for me. The best chicken & waffles I have had yet were at 24diner in Austin, TX. Crispy, freshly fried chicken piled on top of a fluffy waffle with honey & hot sauce. Too perfect. Bruxie Gourmet Waffles: Now that I have described my ideal chicken & waffles, keep this in mind as I review Bruxie & compare it to Waffle Bus (a Houston food truck). When I stepped into Bruxie, it was clean and well-lit, which made me feel welcome. As I stared at the menu, I had a hard time deciding to what to order because there were so many options. They offer a variety of savory & sweet waffle sandwiches, as well as sodas made with pure cane sugar (the root beer was excellent). And they sell liege waffles! Those are my favorite. :D In the end, I just went with the classic chicken waffle sandwich. Compared to Waffle Bus (Houston), the chicken was thinner and easier to eat, which I appreciated, but the "chili honey" was basically just honey and lacked the flavor of the Waffle Bus ancho chili honey. However, my friend ordered the prosciutto & gruyere waffle sandwich, which is his favorite. THAT WAS GOOD. Waffles galore! Tried this place a while back because of all the hype and it was pretty good, I like the texture of the waffle, crunchy yet moist at the same time. They have a lot of different options from savory to sweet, and everything I've tried so far were all pretty tasty. My GO TO picks would have to be the salmon waffle, light and fresh, not too much stuff in it to take away from the waffle itself, and It isn't too heavy, leaves room for a sweet waffle to enjoy ;) I enjoy the creme brûlée with seasonal fruits waffle, yum! Oh and the fries are a good side dish for your waffle or a meal in it's own! :) I feel like for what you get though, it's a bit overpriced and overhyped. I had the Bruxie Burger as I wanted to taste what a burger patty would be like in a waffle. Light mayo with all the fixings and the burger is cooked on med-well, my Bruxie Burger was made to my taste buds delight. I didn't have the fries though seeing the other patrons food wish I had ordered it. My Daughters ordered the Nutella & Bananas, Creme Brulee and S'Mores. My wife had the Turkey Club and that too looked good. Desserts seems to be another niche in which captures the heart. Their Shakes, other treats all look good!. (I apologize to all the customers that I stared at today your food looked so delicious!) Seating is limited here and on a FCFSB (First Come, First Serve Basis), but don't let that stop you. The open seating area is nice and right on the corner of a busy street and walk area. Eat in or take out, but if you choose take out find a place nearby and begin to grub!! With 6 locations in the So Cal area Orange, Brea, Chino Hills, Irvine, Costa Mesa and Huntington Beach a Bruxie Restaurant must come to the SF Bay Area. Mainly to the San Jose area and the heart of Silicon Valley. This restaurant would fit nicely in the Downtown Area of San Jose near the Fairmont Hotel. One can only wish! Concept is original but I have to say that the fries are on the hard, dry side and unfortunately same goes for the waffle. Had the angus beef burger which was also not as flavorful. Based on other yelpers photo... The rest of the menu looks worth trying. I wish they could make the waffle more on the fluffy and sweet side to really see the flavors of mix matching come through, like the salmon or the pulled pork. I've been coming here to Bruxie for awhile now, and for some reason I've always been disappointed or unimpressed with the food. I could never pinpoint it on anything - the service is great, the concept is great, and I love fried chicken. I would always order the Nashville Hot/Kickin Chicken sandwich. Great flavor, but my waffles would always end up a bit soft and soggy no matter if I dine in or take out. Then I started ordering the Fried Chicken and Waffle. I was pleasantly surprised with the sweet element of the waffle, but still not something I would typically crave. Finally... it dawned on me. Maybe I'm just not a fan of waffles. Every experience I've had at Bruxie has been a good one because the food is served fresh and the service is fantastic. For breakfast I always like to order the green eggs and ham. Just scrambled eggs, melted cheddar, ham, with some arugula pesto sauce (took out mayo because pesto sauce is enough). Perfect combo in a toasted waffle sandwich. For lunch, the classic fried chicken and waffles is also sure to please. All of their sandwiches are pretty tasty. Waffle fries are also really good! I didnt enjoy my tuna salad, it was pretty bland (long story short: I was on a strict diet). I should have gotten the grilled chicken one with mushrooms. I ordered an "original" and creme brulé with strawberries for takeout. Instead of creme brulé custard, I received lemon custard, which was absolutely disgusting and very disappointing, especially given that I had been craving creme brulé for days prior and made the special trip to bruxie purely for this item. The "original" was ok. The menu is very limited and simple for such a mistake to occur. This $10 (with tax) soggy lemon custard waffle sandwich is practically inedible to me and a waste of calories... into the trash it goes. It appeared to contain a grand total of only four small strawberries. The service from the front/floor employees was adequate, and the restaurant itself has a pleasant ambiance and is nicely located in Downtown Brea with adequate parking in the nearby parking structure, and similarly underwhelming restaurants close by. read more
