Went and got toes and fingernails with Shellac. Fingernails were chipped and peeling within 48 hours. What a waste.

I used to LOVE this place. It was my go-to, every 2 weeks, pre-pandemic. I went for the first time, since March, on 12/11. A week later, my dip manicure was starting to separate from my nails. I was really disappointed but, they had fixed my nails in the past, so I figured they would take care of the issue. I finally had time to drop in on Sunday 12/20 to see if someone could put some sort of adhesive between the dip and nail so that they didn't fall off (this exact thing was done for me in February when the dip separated from my nail). The front desk staff was nice but completely unhelpful. I was told that they couldn't do that. More than that, the other workers were coming up to the front desk girl and asking questions/talking about other issues and I would be completely ignored. They told me I could talk to the person that did my nails and see if they would be willing to fix it or get my nails redone completely. The reason I get the dip is because it's supposed to last! Definitely disappointing and I'm on the search for a new place. read more

I have NEVER in my life had such a bad experience at a nail salon like I did at "Brush Box". I made an appointment over 1 week ago and drove 40 minutes to this location. When I got there I was rushed to pick a color for my nails as soon as I sat down. The technician barely gave me time to look in the book for what color I wanted . My pedicure was rushed as well. The pedicure is basically a polish change. The tech barely scrubbed my feet and she didn't do anything to my cuticles. The tech didn't even know how to file acrylic down. I showed the other technician a picture of how I wanted my nails and asked her could she do this. She asked me did I want them exactly like the picture and I said yes. She said she would see if someone else could do them but I would have to wait because she was busy. I told them don't worry, I will pick another color since she could not do the design. The nail tech that was doing my sister nails said that she could do it, so I was going to allow her to do my nails. Minutes later one of the ladies from the front desk comes out with her boss on the phone saying that my nail tech complained that I was being too picky. She lied and said that she had started doing my nails and had to stop because I didn't like them! Meanwhile I was still in the pedicure chair! No one has started my nails at all. The front desk lady, who was on the phone with the boss, said that my technician felt intimidated because I said I wanted my nails exactly like the picture . I was livid ! I'm PAYING for a service! How am I being too picky when all I did was ask could she do my nails like the picture? I even offered to do a different style if the tech couldn't do the first style. Customer service here is piss poor!!!!! When did you start telling customers they are too picky? If the tech couldn't do it, that's all she had to say. I was never offered anything to drink like everyone else around me. I will NEVER in my life come back to This establishment ! ( the lady that did my pedicure was coco ! Horrible !!! I didn't get the name of the nail tech that was "about" to do my nails). If you are looking for a nail salon go to Polished nail bar! They were excellent! This is a great new place in the GOOF area. The prices are comparable to other salons in the area and the service was great. The facility is brand new and has all of the amenities you would expect including a small children's play area. I got the basic manicure and pedicure which were nice and worth the price. My only complaint is my nail polish started chipping after two days but my nails are dry and brittle. I'll definitely be visiting again. read more

I came in without an appointment and they were able to give me a pedicure on the spot! The decor is very nice and the atmosphere is relaxing. Okay, I've always been loyal to prestigious and borgata, so I was thrilled to see that these are the same owners. I've been a couple of times, and each time has been fabulous. Disappointed. I chose this place because it looked lice and more like a spa experience. When I arrived for my pedicure there were five women there for a birthday party and had about 8 small children with them. They were talking loudly and drinking and the children were yelling and running and pushing each other around in the manicurist chairs. It was a loud, obnoxious, stressful experience instead of a relaxing one. While I was I. The salon, I wasn't offered anything to drink which I think is pretty standard. I also found it very overpriced I picked the most basic pedicure because it was so expensive and this one didn't include any cuticle removal or nail shaping.... none of the fancy things like hot wax or stones either. It was a really mediocre treatment experience activated by an obnoxious environment. Wish I had picked the cheaper option for a better quality pedicure. read more

Went in with a friend for a pedi the other day. Gosh, the salon is beautiful! Tried the oak forest pedi that has some extra massage time at the end, oh man was it worth it! Amazing experience! The salon was clean and peaceful as well as wonderfully designed. I loved how their were no distracting TVs just soothing music. The staff was incredibly attentive and detail oriented. I got a basic pedicure and shellac manicure and both turned out wonderfully. They have more color options than any other nail place I've gone to in Houston. I had read about them in Houstonia magazine and had been wanting to try and since I was in the area I gave it a shot. *highly recommend AVOIDING* During the pandemic when many businesses were closed, I had supported brush box - they were clearly feeling the impact. I always get the exact same manicure, acrylic with shellac on top, and every time it was $55. I went to have the same nails done that I always get today, and they charged me $71 - I was in shock, I thought it had to have been a mistake. The front desk lady and then the owner proceeded to tell me that they would "never charge that price" for what I got, and that I was wrong and had to have gotten something else previously. If it had cost me $71 to get my nails done the previous times, I would not have gone back as that is an outrageous price for a simple full set. They told me they couldn't see my previous transactions with my account so that I could prove to them that I had previously paid less, but when the front desk lady slipped and said she had seen that I had been 3-4 times in their system, the owner was scrambling to find excuses of why he couldn't see the dates associated with the multiple times I had been there because he could. They treated me with total disrespect and I absolutely will NOT be going back and I would highly advise avoiding it. Many friends have said their gel peels off within a week, too. read more

I've been to this place a countless number of times because they are in the Oak Forest area where I live. The place is very beautiful and clean which is why I come here mostly because of the environment. But let me tell you they need a lot of help with how they run their operation. The receptionist is not great with directing The technician on what service you get (I had to remind them three times that I was having a pedicure LOL) the simple things. Also they lack offering you a drink and for the price you would think you would be getting a service similar to Gloss nails bc of the similar pricing. This is usually my go-to place, but I think this past Sunday will have me looking for somewhere else to get my nails done. The lady who was doing my nails was clearly rushing and being very sloppy with my dip manicure. I had red dip polish on before and she didn't even take the time to fully remove the red polish from my nails before painting over with a much lighter color. Nice salon, with lovely extras. My pedicure was fine. My dip polish was the worst I've ever had. I had to go back twice to repair 4 nails. 3 cracks on the tips (which I've had happen before, but not 3 times on the same set) 1 split all the way down the center (which I've never had happen before) On the first trip they said it was pretty bad, bu I didn't push and let them just add layers as a fix. On the second trip I asked them to redo my nails in another color incase it was the powder instead of fixing or give me a refund so I could go get them redone at my normal shop. Because we were a day before a week I would need to pay for another manicure at half price or take a fix on the one nail for free. No refund because the time the nail tech had put in and because they work on commission. I'm going to get it redone at my regular place where I've never had this problem in the years I've had dip polish. read more

I have been going to another popular nail salon right up the road for a few months but decided to try this one out because it's closer to my house. My neighbor went and liked how thin her dip nails were and when they cracked, they fixed it for free, so I wanted to give it a try. The place is beautiful and it was only a short wait before I was sitting down. I love the fact that they have a children's area with glass so you can see what is happening inside. The technician did a really great job on the nails he gave me. The dip was very thin just like my neighbors, however, when the technician asked if I'd like to go a little shorter on my long almond shaped nails, and I agreed, he proceeded to cut my nails down to flush with my fingertips. I was stunned and in disbelief. He then shaped them to short squares. My real fingernails that I had been growing out for months to keep my fingers from looking stubby, were all gone. I realized he did my nails just like he had done my neighbors. I understand that if I want dip to be thin, there's a higher chance they will crack or chip on longer nails. However, if you can only do one type of nail shape because they are thin, give me a heads up before just giving me that shape. I'd have liked him to at least ask how short before cutting my nails off. I'm still a little traumatized from the experience, but I'm giving them 3 stars for the atmosphere and the quality of the job done, even if it wasn't what I really wanted. read more

Wanted to love this place since the facilities are nice and I have never had trouble getting in without an appointment. However was pretty disappointed after my last few visits. I came in on a Saturday to get my nails (gel) done for an event that evening. They didn't even last through the night before they began to peel off the nail bed. I came back the next day to get them redone and was told I would need to come back within a certain window and would need to get the same color. When I returned they gave me the same nail tech and low and behold the same thing happened. I haven't yet reached back out, but at this point I'm counting this one as a loss and going to have to find a new salon. I appreciate the corrective action, but think it would be better served to not repeat the same process and expect a different outcome. I was told it was my nails or something I was doing that was the problem. Very disappointing. read more

GO TO RITUAL INSTEAD for shellac! Unfortunately I went for my first and last time at Brush Box. I got a shellac manicure on Friday that started chipping after the second day so I went back on the Tuesday after to get it fixed which they did without complaint. My manicurist did inform me that CND is very thin and not a good choice for polish, but I assumed it would last a bit longer this time. Nope, it startted chipping again the next day. I called and spoke with the receptionist about my problem and she informed me that I could come in and they would give me a little discount to redo it, but I would still have to be charged. I asked to speak to a manager and she said that she's not sure when he will be I in and it's sporadic, but she took down my name and number and assured me he would call me back. Well, 5 days later and no call back. I feel like I have them adequate chances to make this problem right, but enough is enough. I guess they don't care about quality or their patrons. I Highly recommend going to RITUAL, which is just past the light on Ella for a quality shellac manicure. That is my usual spot and it will not chip for over a month!!! Well, I really tried to like this place. It's close to home, conveniently located, but the customer service is serious lacking. I have had a couple of pedicures, manicures, etc. and each time my nail technician seemed more interested in seeing what everyone else was doing around them, and talking to their coworkers, than they were on doing my nails well. The last experience I had a couple of weeks was by far the worst. I had a broken my natural nail, nothing major but I didn't want it to get worse and begin to hurt, so as I have done at other salons many times, I went and asked them to repair it with super glue and either a couple coats of clear dip, or gel. Just enough to let it grow out enough before it really broke more and began to hurt, it have taken 10 mins max. Also, just to be clear, I was of course expecting to pay and would have tipped as well. The receptionist proceeded to tell me after looking at my nail that there was nothing they could do, "we don't do that here", and I told her I had received that service at other salons, she then said "maybe you should go visit one of those other salons." I then asked to speak with a nail tech. After the nail tech came by, he said he could fix it no problem, but the receptionist then informed me she had no one available. I felt like I had offended her based on how I was being treated since I walked in, so I left, drove 25 mins to my old nail salon and they fixed me up in, shocker, less than 10 mins. Very nice salon in Bunker Hill. Charged me $5 and I tipped $15 for how nice they were. SO, all that to say, just because you're in Garden Oaks and have a fancy looking nail salon doesn't mean you can get by with less than mediocre customer service. Again, I really wanted to like this place, it is beautiful and clean, but the services have been disappointing for what you have to pay, and the customer service has been down right awful. read more
