my property management company had Jamie from Bruce's air-conditioning come over and do an estimate/troubleshooting because my system was not cooling adequately on very warm days in Arizona. Jamie listened to my description and experience with the issue, and took into account the steps I had already taken with another AC technician previously. He spent over an hour diagnosing the situation, spending a lot of time in the attic, on the roof, and on a ladder inside checking vents and skylights. He did not ask any redundant questions and was incredibly courteous at all times. he completed his work and sent the report forward to my property manager. Jamie was a consummate professional, and a business is only as good as it's people. I am impressed and very happy with my entire experience with Bruce's thus far! he was not able to go into specifics as I am not the one making the decision on how to resolve this, but I am confident that his report is thorough and accurate. Wait for it, Ok so I had another A/C company come out and fix my thermostat and maybe A/C, they told me that I need to pay $1,300 and I needed an entire A/C unit. So I didn't feel comfortable with them so I asked them to leave. I looked on Nextdoor to see who people were recommendating and Bruce's A/C was listed several times. I asked them to come out and do the $1,300 repairs that I was told I need to do before I got a new A/C unit. When Franklin came out, he probably spent an hour in our attic, he came out and told me that he wasn't going to do the $1,300 of work as it would be wasted and that I needed a new unit. I was absolutely fine with that. When I bought my house it was something that was mentioned to me, it was an OLD unit and it was time. The whole thing started because we have a smart thermostat and turned the A/C off when we went on vacation. We turned it back on a day before we got back and it was still not cooled down as much as we would like when we got home. We knew it was on its last leg. So we scheduled them to come out and they were very professional in every aspect of their multiple times at my house. Initial meeting, install, and follow up. I'm very pleased with them and I signed up for the 2 times a year service without anyone trying to pitch it to me. Overall the only thing I am disappointed with is that I wasted my time with the first A/C company. read more

Please note that although one star is the lowest amount to select, my experience with company is a ZERO. I own a rental property with a property manager and a tenant. After the tenant of my property appeared to be falsely accused by the company regarding the AC unit, I asked the company about what seemed to be a dishonest and excessive bill for what appeared to be an incomplete job. The company did not seem to make an honest attempt to address my concerns. The customer service of this company treated me in what I feel was a very dismissive manner. An individual I know who does a lot of business with this company informed me that the company is known to overcharge their customers. After reaching out to the BBB for help, the company appeared to misrepresent the situation in what seemed to be a self-serving and untruthful manner. Although my concerns were addressed to the company and the BBB, the responses from company to my concerns only appeared to benefit the company. The company never seemed to want to be legitimate about helping me as a customer. In my opinion, the company took advantage of me and over-charged me for an incomplete job. read more

They might tell you something needs to be fixed which really doesn't and try to rip you off, in my case the first time it had happened. So beware and get a second opinion! Dont waste money on their pricy parts that may go bad soon. My AC unit didnt work and I had called Bruces air, seems my battery on the thermostat died. However Bruces agent told I might need newer parts for my outdoor units such as capacitor and condenser fan motor which was like $1100 bucks plus other costs. 5 months later the 200 Turbo capacitor failed and they didn't honour the 5 year warranty on it and I again had to pay for a new capacitor. We had an issue that ended up being an old wire that had to be replaced... not yet knowing this the technician that was sent to our home was extremely inexperienced and had to call the office for everything... his suggested fix was to install a new wireless control module at a cost of $1200+.... Or run a new wire at a cost of over $800??? It got even shadier when they tried to negotiate a lower cost to do the work... We kindly sent the technician out... later that morning Parker and Sons came out and fixed the wire and only charged us the small service fee for the 10 minute fix... I WILL NEVER USE BRUCE'S FOR ANY HVAC SERVICES AND SURELY WONT SUGGEST THEM TO ANYONE ELSE.... read more

August isn't the best month to lose A/C, but I did. I immediately called Bruce's and within 3 hours a technician was at my door to diagnose the problem and fix it. When he left 90 minutes later, cool air was again flowing from the troublesome unit...and he even checked the other unit to make sure it was okay. I've never left a one star review before but felt this was important to share, hopefully it reaches the owner. Was very appreciative of the quick responses and help with my AC unit that went out at my rental property. Felt it was important to get a second opinion as an entire new unit is a large expense ($8500 as quoted by Bruce's). Was in frequent communication with the project manager about making a decision and let him know that I wanted to get a second opinion before committing. I'd like to note that it had not even been 24 hours at the point of these conversations. I understand and appreciate the quick responses and eagerness to get things going for a quick fix and do understand that in order to get things scheduled a decision needs to be made quickly. I however did not appreciate the tone and attitude that was received. Was looking forward to working with this company but will no longer be giving them my business. After having Night & Day AC doing a yearly maintenance check on my ac, it stopped working. The company promised next day to service between 12 & 2 again 2-4, 4-6. When tech came out wanted $600 to fix. I dismissed them and contacted Bruce's AC who came immediately and fixed for the cost of labor and service call. Jamie the tech was courteous and experienced and quickly fixed it. Because it is holiday w/e they waived the cost of parts ($300) and said they would seek the cost of the warranted parts on Tuesday from the warranty. They did not want me to be without air until Tuesday. This is a very good company that stands behind their product and warranties. We have used Bruce's for years, after a recommendation from my Father in Law, who has also been a long time customer. We have always been happy customers, until this summer. Our AC stopped working in the middle of the night, so we called Bruce's Air Conditioning first thing in the morning. Someone was able to come out midday and take a look at things. The technician spent some time inside and outside looking at things. After about an hour, he told us that we needed extensive repairs on our unit. This came as a huge shock to us, because our house and unit aren't even 5 years old. The technician told us that because the cost of the repairs was so high, he recommended that we purchase a brand new unit. We were completely taken aback, as purchasing a brand new unit was not something we were anticipating. I continually asked the technician if he could come back in a few days, so we could think about things. He wouldn't answer me, and instead called his supervisor to see what payment options we had. Once the supervisor was on the phone, we started feeling very pressured into making a decision immediately. The supervisor went over payment options with us, one of which included using a relative's information to open a line of credit and pay for a new unit. This is where the red flags started popping up for us. The supervisor even went so far as to ask us what unit we had been thinking about, even though we had literally just found out that we needed a new one. The supervisor and technician were incredibly pushy, and kept trying to pressure us to make a decision in that moment. We had to be very firm and tell them we needed time and weren't going to be making any decisions right then. We called out someone else for a second opinion the next day. This is when we were told that our unit had frozen over, and just needed to thaw. Otherwise, there was nothing wrong with it. I completely understand that sometimes people are wrong or mistakes are made, but my husband and I are clueless when it comes to AC systems, and we put our trust in Bruce's. To have a technician and his supervisor be so pushy and insistent that we needed a new unit when nothing was actually wrong seems incredibly unprofessional and comes off like some sort of scam. I'm glad we listened to our instincts when we felt like something was wrong. The purpose of me writing this review is so that other people will think twice and get a second opinion before giving this company a ton of money. I would hate for someone to purchase a new AC unit unnecessarily, and be scammed by the company, like we almost were. read more

I called this morning to see if someone could come out after 4:30, my service guy Kenny showed up at 4:35. He found the issue in 10 minutes and offered to repair it now, he had everything he needed to replace the old fuse box disconnect that was worn beyond repair. SAVED. MY. LIIIIFEEEE. Record breaking temperatures this week and 100 degrees out at 11:30pm. AC goes out and stops blowing cold air. I called their answering service and a nice woman said she would have someone call me. Everywhere else said they were booked through tomorrow evening or just plain didn't answer. Ken called me back in about 5 minutes, said he was on his way and got here within about 30 minutes or less. He told me about the overtime charge ahead of time, which I appreciated (and really wasn't too bad). Ken replaced the broken capacitor in my unit, didn't have to order any parts and I didn't have to stay at a friend's and try to deal with this mess at work tomorrow! My hardworking AC is now blowing cold air again. Would have been a miserable night without Ken's help. Plus he was a nice guy and explained how it worked to me and what he found. We called a few AC repair companies and were told "someone will call you back soon" once our AC just stopped working. Waited an hour for a return call and decided to call Bruce's Air Conditioning. So glad we did! Our technician came out less than 2 hours from my original call and 30 mins earlier than we were expecting him. Franklin was our tech and he is AWESOME! I was having Air conditioning problems for the last 2 weeks. Since it has been so hot i think that it put too much strain on the unit. I called Bruce's on a recommendation. They came the very next day. I did not have an emergancy,i just needed it to run fully well. So the tec came the next day , right on time i may add. He had the problem fixed in no time, with just a $69.99 service fee. That was 2 weeks ago and it is still running perfectly. I had Bruce's Air come out for a unit that would not cool. I was told it was the coil and it would be $3900. I was then told to replace the unit and was offered some quotes (minimum starting upwards of 10k. I then called another company for a second quote. They were perplexed why I was told I needed a new unit as they say no one has even looked at the coils as they had not been unwrapped.. They showed me two pipes missing caps and added the caps. They said I most certainly do not need a new unit or new coils. Additionally, I was charged an absurd amount for freon from Bruce's vs. Gilbert Air ($135pound vs $75). My fault for not spot checking but will make sure others don't fall victim to my stupidness. read more

Our air conditioner went out Friday night. We had called two other AC companies and were told that it was the coil and to get a replacement would take weeks. We called Bruce's Air Conditioning company out and on Tuesday and took the coil out of unit and on Wednesday mid day they were back to install the fixed coil. I've used Bruce's Air Conditioning twice in the past 4 years. The most recent occasion being yesterday (August 11, 2012). I woke up and realized the house was warmer than is should be (83). The fan was blowing, but no cool air. I called Bruce's at 9:30 AM, they took my info and said I'd get a call back soon from a technician to schedule a service call. 10 minutes later the tech (Gary) called and set an appt. for 11 AM. He showed up 15 min. early, quickly diagnosed the problem (bad capacitor), replaced it and was finished in less than 10 minutes! My repair was covered by warranty so there was "no charge" - even on a Saturday! My first service call 2 years ago was similarly smooth. Both times I've had "Gary" as the technician that came out. I would highly recommend Bruce's Air (and Gary) - no upsell and no BS about problems that don't exist (I've experienced both from other companies). Very satisfied customer! read more

Bruce's AC was recommended to me by my local handyman. They installed an AC unit in 2007 and it was substantially cheaper than the other outfits in town. (Maybe because they don't spend their money on TV ads?) I was grateful. Anything helps with big ticket items. Today I called because I was sweltering and they came out to check the AC unit. Quickly. I have had a few experience's with different ones and they are always trying to up sell you and then they never properly fix what they came there for in the first place. I was lucky enough to find this company,they came the same day called(within hours) on a day that was 100 degrees! They fixed everything better than i had hoped for in record time. Actually the work that Bruce's does is excellent, from appointment thru cleanup. They are NOT inexpensive! The problem in the A/C repair industry is that the parts, cost wise, are now very transparent! Today's invoice was over $700.00 to replace a Mother Board and Fan Motor. The fan, a Mars unit is $82.00 delivered on Amazon Prime. Bruce's charged $347.88 for the exact same part. In fairness, the labor costs of $288.00 for four hours seemed reasonable and Hector completed the work in a timely fashion. As a retired Business School Professor, I would recommend a pricing strategy much different than 400 plus % on parts! One way or the other all of these guys have a business impervious to consumer transparency. Sounds like Obamacare! read more

In my original post I gave Bruce's a poor review because of my concerns and frustrations concerning 1-Previous services given by Bruce's, 2-My three year-old air-conditioning unit that Bruce's installed (is it a lemon-because of needs for repair so soon?), and 3-My warranty coverage (why wasn't anything covered?). The unit stopped working/cooling and I called Bruce's. I am updating my review to state how much I appreciate and thank Bruce's for their help in fixing the unit and for waving some charges. FYI: 1-Bruce's has a new owner/manager 2-He personally came to inspect my unit since it was not working again 3-I paid for Freon and a special dye to find a leak and he had my unit repaired in a timely manner 4-He explained how my warranty works. read more

I have 3 units on my house. Last summer 1 quit working and 1 wasn't working as well. Another well known A/C company came out and said both needed replaced. It was GRADUATION DAY for my daughter from ASU, we had company from out of town coming in to stay with us the 1 A/C unit that was working OK decided to quit working. I called Bruce's A/C, who came highly recommended from a friend, and they came out the same day and said THEY COULD FIX THAT UNIT and not have to replace it!! They saved me thousands of dollars and fixed it the same day. I feel they are the most honest company out there (they could have easily said I needed a new one). This is a PSA! DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! If you do, be sure to get a 2nd opinion so you can be shocked at how badly they try to take advantage of you during the hot summers here. They know you want to act quick, and they will use it to their advantage, especially if you have an older unit and you don't know anything about AC repair. The gentleman came over and assessed the damage. At first he said that I needed 2 voltage regulators, a compressor condenser, and a fan motor. I gave him the go ahead to fix it. After he installed those things, he tells me that he just found out that the compressor is broken and that I'm going to need a new one and also 17lbs of Freon. He says that for 1lb of Freon, they charge $230. So, with the cost of the compressor, Freon and labor it with be only a few thousand dollars less than a new unit and that it would be worth my while to just a new one. We decided to get a 2nd opinion and had him take out all the parts he installed. So he left. The 2nd company came over and I told him that the compressor was broken according to Bruce's air. He checked it out and said it was fine. The compressor worked great. The only thing it needed was a new motor. I asked him if I needed Freon. He told me no, everything looks good. When I told him that Bruce's air wanted to charge me $230 for 1lb of Freon, he looked shocked. He said his company charges $80 a lb. He also said my AC would only need 7lbs at the most! Luckily I got a 2nd opinion because I would have been 7k in debt! AVOID this company at all costs! Hopefully I can save someone from making a costly mistake! read more
