My day drinking BFF and I needed to kill time before the restaurant we were set to have lunch opened. So we thought cocktails at Bowood would be nice. We got two stools at the bar and settled in. Once we glanced over the cocktail menu, we knew what we wanted. We're both Espresso Martini fans, we each got one. Seeing an espresso machine behind the bar, I glad to see they use "real" espresso in their martini. I got real excited when he grabbed my favorite vodka, Tito's as the base. Watching his masterful skills as he prepared our cocktails was pure entertainment. We were both impressed with the presentation of our martinis. They are served in vintage styled glasses. It was the best Espresso Martini I have had since, Harvey's in midtown closed. The martinis were so good, we thought we'd have a light nosh. We both like pistachios so we ordered a, Pistachio Brown Butter Tea Cake and shared it. The bartender also recommended it. His description was spot on. With an excellent martini and a pistachio tea cake, I may have told the bartender that I loved him. We finished our drinks and I settled up our tab in celebration of my BFF's B-Day. Walking out, both of us said, we're definitely coming back.

I was pleasantly surprised by the excellent food, drinks, hospitality and service at this dine in restaurant. I was driving pass thinking what am I going to eat and I saw 2 customers walk out with 2 big bags of food... I said to myself people don't buy that much food unless it's good.. So I decided to give it a try. I had chicken and waffles, and a specialty alcohol adult drink....lol There was music playing as I sipped my drink and waited for my food which came out in no time. The drink and music playing gave the place a warm happy hour vibe. The waffles were sooooo good.... They were soft, fluffy and cooked to perfection. I'm like is this a cake or a waffle. The wings were seasoned perfectly and crisp to perfection. It felt like I was a an upscale restaurant on PeaceTree street in Atlanta.... I highly recommend this place for an early morning brunch, lunch or after work bite to eat before you go home.

My friend had a table at the front so I immediately saw him when I walked in. Wasn't crowded and people at each table were enjoying themselves. They had music but it wasn't overwhelming so conversations were possible. I ordered 4pc wings and grits (cuz I had a bad grits experience at breakfast so I figure this would redeem it). They also had free mimosa on Sunday (hint hint). Also, they close their kitchen at 3:30pm as well. Food wise, I was satisfied. They had a limited menu. Chicken was hot and crispy. Grits were hot and buttery. I enjoyed a basic meal and will gladly come back. Gotta try the G sauce I heard about.

Upon arriving, the parking lot appeared jammed pack, and you could tell there was a wait. I checked us in to be put on the waiting list. Our wait was about 30 minutes. We were sat at a two top table. A server came over to grab our drink order, and our actual server came over to introduce his self. Our server was polite and willing to answer any questions I had. We waited about 30-40 minutes for our food to come out. I ordered short stack pancakes (w/strawberries and blueberries), bacon and eggs. The pancakes were huge, fluffy, and savory. Bacon was crispy, and eggs were cooked perfectly. My husband ordered a country omelet that came with a side of pancakes. He stated his pancakes were rubbery, but his omelet was good. This place is not very big and can feel quite cramped when full. There's not much room to stretch out, and when people are walking past it feels as if they are all up on you. The building was extremely cold, even with a jacket on. Very filling, and the prices are reasonable!

It was perfectly cooked, flavorful, and honestly one of my favorite dishes from the trip. I also had a scallop dish that was just as good -- rich, well-seasoned, and beautifully prepared. On top of the food, they have a really strong wine selection, which made the experience even better. The overall vibe is polished and elevated without feeling too formal. Service was great, food came out on time, and everything felt intentional. Highly recommend if you're looking for a nice dinner spot in St. Louis.

They have a great cocktail menu but we opted for a bottle of wine instead. The waiter was super helpful in helping us pick out a nice red blend. We got the octopus as a starter, which I don't personally love octopus, but my friend thought it was the best in stl. I also got the apple dish, which was listed under the salads but the waiter was sure to explain it's not an actual salad. Since it wasn't a full salad I also got the soup. Both the apple dish and soup were really good. It's street parking but there's lots of spots in the area. The bathroom is super nice with hairspray and mints if needed. Nice place for a good meal.

And the happy hour is crazy good! On a nice day there is nowhere nicer than the patio and tonight the happy hour was GLORIOUS. I do like sitting inside as well but with this weather you couldn't make me go inside. I have had brunch here quite a few times, dinner too, but as I said today was happy hour. That means the burger. It is absolutely one of the best I have had. I take it as offered but love that they always ask if I want modifications. Look at that burger! And the shoestring potatoes are marvelous too! We had the chips & cheese and olive appetizers to snack on as burgers were getting made and we each had a cocktail. Love that the service is attentive and friendly (Brian was great tonight). But also love that I never feel rushed to turn the table over. And the happy hour from 5-6 means that burger is close in price to tha burgers at Shake Shack and I guarantee you will enjoy this far more. I love dirty martinis and got their black and blue martini. The spicy bitters are spicy for sure. As one that likes spicy, I thought it was weird in a martini. It was a strong drink though. Ordered the French onion soup, as this was the reason I came. Taste was great, but the soup had a thicker consistency than I was used to. As others have said, lots of cheese on top, which isn't necessarily bad.
