Garlic bites (hardest bread ever)

I got some toasted garlic bites from this place. The bread was so hard, I'm amazed that anyone would serve them. It's like they defrosted regular bread, cut it, sprinkled garlic and butter, and said you better take it.

Philly and fries in box
Tonya T.

To each is own. Try it at least once! Had me fooled with the philly's, I had saw some reviews and pictures of it looked pretty darn good and full of meat. Yet when I received my order I was deceived and disappointed. So try at your own risk. We also had chicken wings , they were ok.

Firecracker chicken with ravishing rice
Kathi W.

Seems like the reviews are all over the place. My guy and I decided to try anyway. Yes, the front parking lot is small. Yes ,there are more spots in back. No big whoop there. There is also a drive through for pick up orders only. Orders can be placed via phone or online. Upon entry we were promptly greeted by the friendly staff. There was a new person training; however she did a great job taking our order. We chose to dine in. NOTE: it's a very small dining room. Only seating for 10-12 people. We received both our orders (and they were correct) within a few minutes. I had the firecracker chicken with sweet chili sauce, which came with ravishing rice. (At first I thought my chicken was on a bed of carrots, but it was actually the rice - it is ORANGE. I did not detect a distinct flavor so perhaps it's orange due to food coloring. I'll ask next time. He had chicken tenders with honey bbq sauce and fries. Everything was prepared well and was hot, fresh and flavorful. The chicken in both dishes was crispy on the outside and tender inside. Our meals totaled around $25. Sounds like a lot, but I had so much food that there is enough for a second meal. We WILL go back because the food was good, plus the menu is huge and there are other interesting items we'd like to try.

Shrimp wrap
Constance J.

This was only my 2md time coming but it was a win once again! I was looking for something that wasn't too heavy so I decided to stop in for a wrap. Although I was craving a chicken wrap, that shrimp easily became a great decision. I look forward to trying a few more things soon.

Second visit and I'm trying something new. Hubby and I decided to combine options and share. We decided on lemon pepper chicken tenders and onion rings and a dragon fire chicken wrap which consisted of melted cheese, lettuce , tomatoes , dragon sauce and onions. The wrap was soft, fresh and delicious, the tenders did not have lemon pepper seasoning to me and if it did I could not taste it at all. The onion rings and fries were just ok. It took about 15 minutes to make and it came with sodas. Staff was friendly. Building was clean .

And it will make sense for this story rather quickly Saturday brunch, as I was bound and determined to hit up a -different- location in Hazelwood (I will be polite and not name them but it wont be too hard to figure out) that's actually in a nearby location. I get there after a maze of side-streets (missing my primary turn off), and it's down to parking on NARROW streets. Uhm.. no thanks! I Spend 15 minutes looping around trying to find a spot on the street to park (the parking lot is teeny-tiny and every n, s, e, and w street either if us completely loaded with parked cars or right in front of a driveway (no blocking drives!) So it's time for backup site. And you know sometimes Fate smiles in your direction. I had known that there was a second lunch stop in a similar area, so follow the map again, and find it decently quickly, and surprise. they actually have a good sized PARKING LOT you can use! Welcome to Henkes! And I walk in to a long bar, and a crowded bar. (Wow, 1 in the afternoon and this place is packed!). Patio outside, indoor table... indoor table it is. And even those were nearly full. But the bartendress was over reasonably quick, although she had the same issue most bars here in st. louis have They never answer 'what is the best drink you make'. It's always what they like. Oh well, you can't have them all. (Although i will say I didn't have to ask about the Peanut butter and Jelly shot... You WANT ONE OF THESE! (if you're not allergic to peanuts - or peanut butter whiskey) Drinks came in a little slow (but not terrifyingly so.. did i say this place was packed for lunch on a Saturday?). Ironically, the busboy was over to me to make sure I'd ordered, but was nowhere the conversationalist the bartendress (I need a shorter word for bartendresses!), but don't take it as a negative, at least I know I was being looked after (or watched.. Nah, no paranoia here :) ) Easy to order: Shrimp Po-Boy with a side order of Onion Rings and Loaded Tater Tots (what can I say, I'm a simple man of food choices). Food came out reasonably quick, so I didn't have much time to look around (and most people have gotten decent indoor photos already) I will say (it looks like they're holding out hope that the video machine restriction is lifted back soon (2 video slots machines were listed Out-of-order). Anyway, whenever I had questions the bartendress was willing to give me a minute or two, (too bad they didn't have one of their "swag" in my size though). Although I forgot to ask as they appear to have live music bands on some days.. Where do the musicians fit? This place is a tight squeeze just on Lunch for Saturday! However, we do have to argue one issue with Heinke's and I'm just curious if this has never been brought up before: Asking for the meal with a side dish of Onion rings.. they charged me the sandwich plus an extra $8.95for the all-in-plate. (Yes, that's the only thing I can figure the all-in plate means?) But if i had just asked for the sandwich and a side of onion rings (I get the price of the sandwich + 5.95 for the side order?) Uhm.. Maybe I'm missing something in math class, but I get charged MORE for the same meal? Come on guys. tell me I'm missing something???? (only -star in the entire theme today) Anyway back to the original statement: So the TARDIS had it right. I may not always get where I'm going, but i'm glad I got to go where I needed to be! And if you're smart, you'll go there too! Patio or indoor, totally worth it!

The Good: Order taker was great with suggestions. Greeted and thanked me. The Runner: Caucasian, heavier set lady. Not sure if she is new, but this this is my first time seeing her there( I guess I'm somewhat a regular now) lol. That's bad...but anyways, I digressed. She was not pleasantly looking. Could be she's tired or hurting or don't wanna be there. She asked me "what's the number" (The cashier had already placed it on the rear view mirror where they always do. She took the number off and placed it on the outer portion of the mirror with an attitude stated, "I can't see." She then continue to walk to the other car infront repositioning their number to a different spot. She didn't even take the chance to look herself but rather stated, "I dont know you can check." Anyhow, I thank her. I didn't get the usual, "my pleasure," that I'm accustomed to, however, she did stated "you are welcome while walking away with her backed turned. Food taste & temp- One of the worst burger I've ever had. Honestly it was disgusting. I am very disappointed that I paid almost $12 dollars for a stale burger & a shake. It was not "made fresh" per there trademark. Wished I didn't stopped this time. It's usually scorching hot where you have to wait to bite into it. Shake: First time ordering a shake. I got the strawberry. It was rich and contained real strawberries chunks? (I think). I finished it on the ride. Hopefully this was an off night for them given the time and it wasn't as many team members working as per usual. Even though the restaurant was busy, Erin was super attentive and patient. We had the carbonara and Fleurissant pastas, chicken power bowl, salmon salad, Greek salad and gyro. The kids had cheeseburgers and grilled cheese. For dessert: key lime pie, chocolate lava cake and maple caramel cheesecake. EVERYTHING was superb and we all made happy plates! Our group also commented how the prices seem to have remained steady over the past several years. That's a big plus! Hendels knows how to keep us coming back! Missed lunch due to work meetings, couldn't' grab anything from the work "break room" cause they hadn't finished stocking it! (Why do all my stories always have a sob-story in them somewhere? RATINGS, that's why of course :) ) So anyway, all the usual fast-food joints are so blase, and I hadn't done a new food site for a while. so it's time, right?? Two birds, one stone. Anyway, I get to the shopping center and completely miss seeing the lit up sign. (Do you know how stupid you have to feel to use google maps to travel the SHOPPING Center parking lot you're in? Yep, that's me!) SO anyway i find the location (even after misreading my GPS... left is left, right is right)., and it's right where the maps said it would be. So in we go.. (hour before closing). And the first thing you notice is the place is _TINY_. I mean yes, they have a couple of tables. but the message is "order your burger" and go home and enjoy it.
