It is VERY understandable that Blues City Deli has achieved a 5 star rating on Yelp. It was great…read more I read in my preview that the line to the counter is always there...but it moves quickly...and it is and does. I had to visit Blues City as I heard they have great Po Boys...and they do. I am used to having oysters or shrimp on a Po Boy. Not here. They are basically served with many versions of meat. I had the Benton Park Po Boy and it was incredible. The sandwich has ham, roast beef, turkey, provel, and is dressed with lettuce, tomato, pickle, onion, pepperoncini, sweet red pepper sauce on french bread. My wife, being vegetarian had the Panino Fresco. It included mozzarella, provolone, dressed with homemade olive salad, tomato, onion & Italian vinegar oil on an Italian roll. This was the first time in 26 years that she finished the entire sandwich. I had a bite of hers, and it is easy to see why she she finished it. So good. I even bought a memorable t-shirt as I loved Blues City Deli. The female counter person was so friendly. She even wrote down three other restaurants to try while we were visiting St Louis. Blues City Deli is a can't miss place and if we are back in St. Louis...we will be back.

Great sandwiches, quick line and service. Sandwich was big enough to save other half for later…read more Perfect place to grab a bite before the brewery tour. Indoor and outdoor seating. We ate in our car, no spots available. Benton Park is up and coming.

Finally get to try the brick and mortar location of Sando Shack. The last time I had their Sando…read morewas so long ago. Their Maplewood location was big and spacious. I really liked the decor and the cool vibe. We ordered the spicy chicken katsu Sando and it was delicious. The meat was juicy on the inside and crispy on the outside. The Sando came with the side of fries. We got the togarashi fries and they were so addicting. Fries were not as crispy but very well seasoned and went perfect with the aioli sauce. We also tried the pork katsu rice bowl. I didn't like the sauce as much as the chicken Sando but it was still pretty good. I liked that the rice was well-cooked. You must try their ice cream. I would have come just for it alone. They have a good variety of flavors. My favorite was the miso taro and the yuzu caramel. The staff were very nice to us and the food came out quick. Highly recommend you guys checking this place out.

Very cool spot in Maplewood to add another option of food to their already diverse shopping strip!…read more Bf and I stopped in right when the snow started and got almost the entire place to ourselves. Clean restrooms and friendly staff, very important to me and this place has both! Owner or manager greeted us upon arrival and asked if we had been in before or needed any suggestions from the menu. I asked about the ice cream choices and considered saving room despite the cold outside...but sadly missed out and didn't get any at the end. Bf got the regular chicken katsu bowl and I went with the pork tonkatsu sando. Similar flavors but just depends on if you like using your hands or working with a fork. Feel like he got the right choice (but you miss out on bread if you go with the bowl) I think our favorite part was the fries, great seasoning and perfectly crisp outside.

They've renovated the space recently, and it looks fantastic, clean, modern, and way more welcoming than before. The ordering counter is right at the entrance, and once you're ready, the staff keeps things moving quickly. The menu has also gotten an upgrade with a shiny new digital display, and I'm pretty sure there are some new items on there (love to see it!). Even with the new options, I'm loyal to my go to, the turkey sandwich, because it simply never misses. After they toast the sandwich, it's topping time. I always stick with my favorites, lettuce, olives, and honey mustard, simple but perfect. Once your sandwich is finished, don't forget to grab chips (and maybe a cookie...no judgment) plus a drink cup before paying and heading to the dining area. Speaking of drinks: I cannot resist their strawberry lemonade. Not only did I have one cup, I had two. It's that good. Overall, Pickleman's remains a reliable, tasty, and quick lunch stop, especially with the refreshed space and smoother ordering process. I'll definitely be back!
