I have wanted to attend Brooklyn Bowl's monthly midnight bowl event for a long while. I finally found a friend to tag along with and I'd say it was a pretty good time. Midnight bowl is an all night event with bowling and dancing, specifically to the tune of Hip Hop, R&B, dancehall, and other urban contemporary genres. We arrived around 8pm. There was no line, I simply showed my ticket and went thru a security screening process. Upon entering, its a fairly big space. There are two bars, a lounge area, stage area, and multiple bowling lanes. In order to bowl, you must reserve a lane. There was a 45 minute wait time. We entered our names for a call back when a lane was ready, then headed to the bar. It was a decent amount of people around and waiting as well as bowling. We managed to get a seat just in time as they were beginning to remove bar stools as the event would start soon. I decided to go for an Aperol Spritz drink. For food, their menu boast of Blue Ribbon Fried Chicken, in addition to American bar classics like wings, quesadillas, and nachos. My friend and I decided to split an 8 piece platter of dark chicken from Blue Ribbon Fried Chicken. I have had Blue Ribbon Fried Chicken prior to this experience and loved it however, this didn't taste as flavorful or reminiscent. I would pass in the long run. The aperol spritz was delicious though. Pricing was fair and reasonable. There is an automatic 20% gratuity added onto your food bill, so please be aware. As promised, within 45 minutes, I received a text that our lane was ready. The bowling lanes are cool and modern. It's dark with some strobe lighting and music playing. There are also comfy, plush chairs for you to relax in as you wait your turn. Bins are further available within the table to place your items into. Despite the aesthetics, the pricing is crazy. Its $30 per half hour and $4.95 per pair of shoes. Per half hour? I would expect this in Manhattan but not for Brooklyn. Way overpriced and not worth it at all. We played one game and moved on. By 9:30pm, we decided to have a seat by the dance floor/staging area as the Midnight Bowl event was starting. The music was very on point. The mixing and variety were great! Unfortunately, I had a family emergency and had to leave a little after 10pm, so I did not get to experience the event in its entirety. I will say however, the crowd seemed to be primarily early twenties. Many of them looked so young, it felt like a B2K concert. As someone in their early 30s, I didn't feel like this was my vibe or crowd. Staff were helpful and kind, we had no issues with service. Overall, it was an good experience for the time I was there. I would return to see the Midnight Bowl in its entirety but otherwise, it would not be my first choice for bowling. Very busy location that offers food, bowling, and live music acts. I attended a recent concert, I had enough time to eat before the show. The area has a bar and dining area that seats 50-100? I ate at the bar as I was alone. I ordered 6 smoked wings and a drink. The order was brought out within 10 minutes. The wings had a hickory taste with a bump of spice. Very delicious! This is a great way for a family to spend a Saturday afternoon. My 1 year old granddaughter, Mya, who just learned to walk enjoyed running around with all the kids in the lights. They handed put hula hoops to all the kids. Even our Mya had fun jumping in and out of it. Actually, the hula hoop was helping her to walk. The Jazz Festival for kids was awesome. Our one year older thoroughly enjoyed it. The parachute was also a lot of fun. The place was packed with families. Everyone was having a great time just letting loose and acting like kids with their kids. There was a $15 cover charge that was well worth it. The only unfortunately thing was the they only accepted cash to pay the cover. There was an ATM that they let us use, otherwise we may not have been able to enter. So far as food goes, we ordered the Theresa French Bread pizza. It was delicious! We split it between the three of us...good enough for an afternoon snack. We also had some fries... Have been here for concerts and enjoyed it. It's been fine as a music venue. Came here for bowling and had to rely on staff for service and they were all pretty surley and inattentive. One guy just stood behind the counter and just stared at us while we waited to check in. It was the weirdest thing. Then we were leaving and I see him being super friendly and animated checking in a couple - I'm sorry we can't all be attractive white people. While we waited for our lane, my partner went to order a drink. 3 minutes later or lane is ready so I go to get him and he is standing at the bar (he is the only customer there) while two employees are chatting behind the bar. I asked if he ordered, he says nope. Just been standing here. So we left to get to our lane. The waitress was so slow, we spent most of our time waiting, trying to get orders of food or drink in and closing out or tab. Maybe just having one person taking orders is not enough? A plus was that the runners were nice and once you actually got your order in, it came out pretty fast although The fried chicken has gone downhill. Definitely not Blue Ribbon standards. If you don't care about service or food and just want a place to bowl, get a beer or see a show is fine - this place is good for that anything that doesn't require good customer service. read more

I love Brooklyn Bowl! I've always heard of this spot but never actually had the chance to go. I enjoyed everything from the bowling to the decor and the food. I went during the early afternoon, which is a great time if you're planning to go with the family. We opted for 2 hours for the lanes, which in turn ends up being about 2 bowling games depending on how big your team is. We ordered a variety of finger foods. The smoked wings were by far my favorite. The Mac and cheese bites and loaded fries tie for second place. There were so many options to choose from. I would definitely come back to Brooklyn Bowl. I wish I was there the moment whoever came up with the concept of Brooklyn Bowl. Just imagining someone saying: Ok, check this out, I want to take a big warehouse space - put in a restaurant, large bar, a stage area, and now, get this, about a dozen bowling lanes! It probably sounded like madness and the reality is it doesn't work perfectly, but I have to say this place is lots of fun. The awkwardness of hearing people bowl between songs making the singer comment "Hey, I think someone just picked up that spare!" - it seems and feels a little disrespectful to the musicians on stage. Throw in a sound engineer sitting directly on the stage in full view of the audience looking bored to high heaven, eating food from a take out container, or practicing on his drum pad makes this place less a cathedral to music, but rather a carnival for adults. Really though, it's probably rock or something equally heavy emanating from the stage so who gives a crap?! - just play it LOUD! We made a night of it, coming in for happy hour and meal. The food is decent, but truly those $5 beers until 8pm were going down nicely. We had the buffalo cauliflower, which came with a side of buffalo sauce and blue cheese - it tasted like it was reheated, but good flavor. The blue cheese salad with bacon and chicken was fresh and generous. The oyster po'boy was a bit on the bland side - I enjoyed the roll it was served on, but a shot of hot sauce was needed to give this thing flavor. The bread pudding dessert was more like a warm cake - forgettable. Great full service bar - I was drinking some of Brooklyn's Brewery Bel Air Sours. The large bar that anchors the lounge and concert area is well laid out. If you are not drinking they have cold water dispensers on either end with plenty of plastic cups so no need to purchase water bottles, or bother bartenders who should be tending to the partiers in the room. What a fun place!!! Came here on a Saturday after checking out the Museum of Pizza. Parking can be a headache . Best to come early - or you all be in line outside waiting to go thru security Getting a lane to bowl could be tricky. We came at about 5:30pm and there was about the 23rd in line. There are only 16 lanes . At peak hours- there is a limit of 2 hrs playing time . They take your name and number and will text you when your name comes up. They get pretty annoyed if you keep checking what number in line you are in during your waiting process Anyway ... It's $25 bucks for 30mins to bowl. 8 people max per lane . $4.95 for shoe rental. No reservations $3 for coat check Cover fee starts at 6pm. It was $20 the night I went - although I didn't pay since I came at 5:30pm. Your Best bet is to come to Brooklyn Bowl- put your name on the list - then sit down at a table to have a meal and drinks to help make the time pass. We spent two hours at the table after apps, drinks, dinner and dessert Drinks are mainly beers, some spirits , a margarita and maybe a few cocktails as special . I was surprised try didn't have more cocktails. I tried the margarita and it was just ok. I also tried one of the specials "warm spiced cider" which was good . Buffalo Cauliflower was good. I had the fried catfish tacos which were ok/ good. Tried my friends smoked chicken wing which was ok/good. Two bars - one where you can sit and grab food and another large bar near the performing side of Brooklyn Bowl. The Bowling lanes are parallel to the performance side/ dance floor. You need special bracelets for security to let you pass to get to the bowling side . There Are only 16 bowling lanes . Cute couches to lounge on although it is pretty cramped . Bowling balls seem in good shape- so are the shoes. Pretty easy to use the system to list your names . The server can get you food and/or drinks . You also tell the server when you are done so she can end your time and give you your check. You pay when you are still at the bowling lane. We had good view of the act that was performing on stage at the time we were bowling . Coat check line was long when it was time to leave . I happened to carry mine. I've been here several times in the past few years and every time I attend a paying event, it's the same deal. We bought tickets for this past Saturday's 2000 music show 03/04/2023, and because they had a show previou to ours we had to wait outside until the folks that were inside left. Once inside, the music from the prior event played an additional 40 minutes or so. It was ridiculous. It all just felt so unorganized. Very fun place and family kids and strollers friendly! So on weekends they offer family time until 5pm (since shows starts at 6pm). If you go before 6pm there is no cover fee. No reservations We came around 1.50pm and we were already no 20 on the line... it took about 1.5h to get a line and start bowling (they only have 16lines). Good thinh is that they text you once the line is ready for you. Price is $25/half hour per lines (up to 8 people). And shoe rental was $4.95. You can get drinks and food everywhere: at the lounge where they offer some couches and tables or at the line while bowling. We really had a great time. Really need places where are baby-kids friendly. Oh, peak times are 2h tops although we went little bit over to finish the gane but it was okay for them. This place was pretty cool, we came here on a double date with close friends to have drinks and bowl and we had such a good time. At first I assumed it was a club because we had to stand on line for a few minute, but it moved quick. Alot of people were existing the place, so I thought either two things the night was over or they didnt enjoy themselves. I didn't mind because I like places all to myself (nice and empty) When we entered, the place was huge and it was crowded, the crowd was cool and trendy. We sat by the bar and waited for a lane to open so we can bowl. It had a live band playing soft rock with a fully stocked bar on the other side and they offered my favorite drink kettle one with a splash of club soda. My first round was a bit weak. We finally got a lane which took less than an hour. We immediately ordered food and more drinks. Waitress came right away to take orders (good because I was starving) My next two drink were nice and strong! The food was good. I mainly enjoyed the fries the chicken was nice and crispy but they must of forgot to season it. The mac and cheese was good not great but that's just my opinion and palette. The food is ordered at the bar, you get a number and they bring to the shared picnic table. I don't know if it operates differently in non-concert times. I picked the fried chicken since it was listed first and was pleased that Spin Doctors lead singer later mentioned the chicken twice. Super-juicy, and though pricey, the quality and quantity were better than expected for concert food. The accompanying collard greens were great. I also enjoyed the 25% of the catfish sandwich I had. The bathroom seemed in decent condition. No lines. It was a delight to hear such a pristine sound system. Quite refreshing after the AM radio-caliber audio of Barclays (at three times the price). For acoustic music this isn't ideal because you will hear bowling sounds. Crowd quality varies; I'm thankful there were few talkers last night. read more

A bowling alley, bar, lounge, restaurant, AND concert space...all in one. Awesome. I came on a random Wednesday evening and there was a mandatory cover of $10 since there were a few live bands playing that night. A curve ball, but okay, fine. Anyway, they have a happy hour deal with $6 glasses of wine which was nice, and the bartenders were really friendly. Then we moved on to bowl which came with some issues of a faulty, slightly glitchy lane, but the employees were quick to fix it and move us to a functioning one, they even gave a discount from the bill for it which was the right thing to do. We also grabbed some food (worked up an appetite from all the bowling, I guess), and it was fine. Look, when you come to places like this, you can't expect five star food. I had "the classic" French bread pizza and some nachos. Both did the job of satiating hunger, it was more like slightly upscale bar food. The live music was okay, each band was different, some just plain awful to listen to, others less so. Overall, I'm very impressed with Brooklyn Bowl! VERY busy entertainment Mecca in trendy Williamsburg. I just saw The Growlers live (Thursday evening). Bowling is ridiculously pricey ($25 per person for HALF hour), so I would pass on that, but the music scene is good. Their problem is the timing, though. I've read from other yelpers that bands here always start late... the same happened when I went. They were supposed to start at 8:30p, and nothing happened until after 9pm. Call me grandpa, but it's a week night, and when you live on the other side of the city, you'd like the show to start on time. The other problem is the sound. It's simply not good. The voice was buzzing so high that it was covering everything else. If you care about the band playing here, you may want to see them elsewhere... also because they don't come cheap. I didn't have anything to eat, so can't comment on that. The staff seems rigid and in a bad mood, but at least everything looks in order. Brooklyn Bowl is absolutely fantastic! What better place can one go to and watch a live show, bowl and have a great meal?-lol. I had no idea what was in store for me as I ordered $10 tickets online for us to attend Brooklyn Bowl ' s "Prince vs. Michael Jackson vs. Stevie Wonder" Event. When I arrived there (my +1 met me there about 30 minutes later) the show was about to begin and the crowd was electric! Once Atomic Funk Project came onto the stage and started singing a Prince song (Prince is one of my favorite artists) I knew that I was going to have a great time! Soon we were joining so many others to dance the evening away on the dance floor!-lol. Yes, you guys know that I thoroughly enjoy dancing!-lol. Atomic Funk Project sang their hearts out and delivered a stellar performance! The Bowling area is right next to the stage and so once an alley opened up (we had to put our names on the waiting list) we spent some time bowling. Bowling is $25 for 30 minutes and $4.95 for the bowling shoe rental. Our lovely server in that section ensured that we stuck to our timer and let us know when 30 minutes was up as we requested. Brooklyn Bowl ' s establishment as a whole looks so beautifully lit up at night! Once the live band completed their set, we decided that we wanted to order some dinner. We each had a Bacon Cheeseburger w/ French Fries. The burger was juicy and the french fries were well seasoned. We also had some Rum Punch Cocktails and they tasted delightful and refreshing! Alright so I don't know what was better, the food or the bowling. Both were amazing, as was the jazz concert they booked as well. Our company rented several lanes for our holiday party and ordered several food items. Ribs, fried chicken, Mac and cheese, cheese fries, deviled eggs, elote corn the list goes on. This is a cool venue/place to meet up with friends. If you're like me and hate to bowl but like your friends, this is a cool spot because I've spent most of my time here talking/sipping drinks. If you're not like me and actually like to bowl, well then its a great combo of time with friends and (apparently) one of your favorite sports! Drinks and food here are pretty standard with a decent selection of bar foods, some healthier options and a full bar. Don't order your Manhattan here, instead I would stick to beer, or something like a rum and coke. Also, if you're into straight whiskey, they have a great selection-best I've seen at a bowling alley anyway... Last time I was here, they had a concert with all New Orleans bands (what a great city!) and entry was only 15 bucks! One last thing I have to mention is the staff here is always really pleasant! I have to give props because in a place that gets this busy, you need to be a people person to keep smiling/being polite and these guys nailed it. I've eaten at the restaurant a dozen times, it's a little pricy and the food is meh. On average, I attend 4/5 concerts a month and consider this one of the top venues in the city. Ugh, I really hate writing bad reviews and I hardly do, but I had an awful time at this establishment. My partner and I came on a Saturday night for date night. Coming into the night, we knew we'd have to wait for an hour or so for a lane, so we prepared to eat while waiting. Upon entering, be prepared to pay cash as the cover fee if they have a band playing for the night. There's nothing on their website that mentions if you plan to just bowl you still have to pay for the tickets, so that caught us off guard. We paid $30 in cash to get in; they don't accept card for entry. At their restaurant we ordered their 1/2 dark chicken which comes with 2 drumsticks, 2 wings, mashed potatoes, and collard greens with bacon. We also ordered a plate of the Mac n cheese. The food was fantastic; the chicken was juicy with a crunchy exterior and the Mac n cheese was super cheesy and gooey. We started running into problems when it came to actually bowling. After finishing our meal, we asked the front desk how much longer until our names will be called. They said there were three groups ahead of us. An hour passes by, so we ask again and it turns out our number was miswritten. Mistakes happen, so we shrug it off. Bowling was fun, and the music was great but more problems arose when we were paying out. The bowling alley closes at 1, so our game was stopped at around 12:56. When we got our check, we saw a total of $10.86 (for just the shoe rental) and thought they comped our bowling time (of approx 30 minutes) due to the mistake from before since it said $0 for that part. We were grateful. Then when we got our check, after giving our card, we saw a final charge of approx $40. We asked the server if this was the wrong charge and he said he gave us the wrong one earlier, which really sucks because we thought different. We asked for the new itemized bill that we charged for, in which the server can't find so they call their manager over. While we're talking to the manager the server then brings over another receipt asking if this was the name on the card. We go to our banking account and see they charged us twice of the $40 charge. The server comes over again and says they removed the first charge with no details of how much we actually paid, and then proceeds to take the checkbook without making sure we signed (which we didn't yet because we wanted to make sure we signed the right receipt with the correct charge). We were only given the paid receipt of the $40 charge. We ended up staying a little bit later again to just get clarification and one of the other managers, Sylvia, helped try to clear things up with us. She said both of the charges would be dropped. I don't know ya'll, the disorganization at the end of the night was very disappointing. We just wanted to leave on a good note. They should have a system where we can see a screen confirming the phone number we put down since the music is so loud. And I know it's closing time, but the servers really shouldn't be rushing to close tabs because it can cause errors like it did with us. We're unsure if we'd come back again. read more

Great venue for music with a good sound system. The bar had a wonderful selection of beers from Breweries all around the area. Bathrooms were very clean for venue. Wonderful staff. Great and thorough security system when entering, I felt very safe. My only complaint is that I wish that the venue would accept card when purchasing tickets for the fun in person. The board does it except code so I do not understand why the insurance to pay for your ticket does not. There's also an entire bowling alley at the venue Where you can before while you wait for the musicians to come on, or a bowl with a play and watch them on the screen :-) read more

While the atmosphere in this establishment is fine by me, as a minority person, I need to speak out on an uncomfortable situation that I was put in. I came alone. I had a meal at the bar. I had to excuse myself during the meal to use the restroom. Leaving the restroom, I went to take a look at the bowling alleys, as a private party was going on there & only invited persons could bowl. A white female employee approached me & truthfully acknowledged that I was dining alone & as the only person at a small bar & I had not paid for my meal & to please do so. In this day & age, such in unapproachable (the bartender who served me & security personnel were all black men; I was perhaps the only black female in the entire building at the time). What that white female employee did to me is racial profiling. Such is wrong. She had no right to assume that I would never pay the bartender. It is also inappropriate to ask for ID with credit or debit cards, as some persons share accounts with parents, employers or domestic partners & only one name will appear on the card. Retail, stand-alone bars & restaurant employees do not ask for ID for debit nor credit cards. I wasn't offended that I was asked for ID but, as a black woman, I can tell you that with other minority persons, such may not be the case. If I do return to this establishment, it most likely will be with white persons who I know. read more

There are a lot of rules at Brooklyn Bowl. I don't like rules. But I will forgive them because: 1. I am a very forgiving person. 2. They make up for all of them by being one of the best places in Brooklyn to see a show, have a drink, and eat some food. I imagine bowling is nice, too, but I haven't done that yet. 3. But I Forgive Them Because: If you are going to consistently book awesome bands, DJs, shows, etc., you are allowed to charge people for the pleasure of attending. Musicians need to be paid. Rule: You can't enter the front bar unless you are sure you will be eating. But I Forgive Them Because: The other bar has the same stellar selection of Brooklyn beer, and menus you can look at as you drink, in case you decide later on that you are hungry. Rule: All burgers are cooked medium well. But I Forgive Them Because: Actually, some things are unforgivable. This just baffles me, in a place known for their food. I avoided an argument by ordering the fried chicken instead. And although it wasn't the Best Thing I Ever Ate, it was very, very good. The skin is unique; peppery, textured and tasty. I only wish the hot sauce was better. Rule: The fried chicken comes with collard greens and mashed potatoes. But I Forgive Them Because: These were the best collards I've ever had. Seriously. Normally, I resign myself to eating a couple bites every once in a while, just to remind myself that I don't like them. But I ate every bit of Brooklyn Bowl's greens (and it wasn't just because there were large chunks of bacon in them; really, it wasn't). The mashed potatoes were deliciously buttery as well. Rule: Barstools are removed after a certain hour. But I Forgive Them Because: Even though the barstool in question had my coat sitting on it, and I was two feet away when they stole it, the woman at the Lost & Found was very sweet and understanding. Rule: You can't walk up to the bowling lanes unless you have a bracelet. You need a lane number of where your friends are bowling in order to obtain a bracelet. But I Forgive Them Because: This is actually really annoying. Since there is a concert going on and none of your friends can hear their phones, you get to stand around until one of your friends actually looks and sees your text, and hope it's not the one who thinks its funny to tell the security guard that he doesn't know you. B.ring your friends, date, mom, cousin, neighbor, boss, enemy, sister. R.ight when you arrive you'll be faced with some decisions. O.pen the Blue Ribbon menu, check in for bowling, or rock out. O.bviously you'll want to pick all 3. K.ick off your sneaks & a basket of bowling shoes is brought to the lane. L.eave your socks at home? No prob, they'll bring you fresh ones. Y-es the lanes are impeccably clean, & adorned with leather couches. N.earing the end of your game you'll want microbrew refills. B-est bet is to order a bunch of things to share, the menu is that good. O.ne of the best batches of Rock and Roll fries I've ever had. W.hile your friends scarf food you may want to check out the bathroom. L.ucky ladies, you can see the lanes through double paned mirrors! R.ight when you think your night couldn't get any better the band starts. O.n a good night, you can pay as little as a $5 cover. C.urating the BK Bowl music roster must be a tough job. K.ids all over the world would kill to play at such a cool place. S.ounds great too, you can hear clearly just about anywhere. M.atisyahu played the last time I was there, disco dreidel was rad. Y.ou should definitely check the BK Bowl website for band schedule. F.ancy cocktails, liquors, margaritas, beers, and wines are available. A.ll of my favorite bourbons, and you can even get a shake! C.learly an awesome place to work, all employees were super nice. E.ven if you don't want to bowl coming for a drink/show is deff worth it. O.f course Food Network has already caught on, awesome everything. F.inancially its not the cheapest place to have the time of your life, but F.un factor wise, it's 100% worth a try, at LEAST once. read more
