This space is bare and ready for a designer or wedding planner to come in and work their magic. I'd high recommend hugging a professional to design and customize the space as you are only renting only the venue and have to bring in everything else (furniture, decor, food, serving staff, etc.) to go in it. The place has two bathrooms, a couple different levels with stairs, a terrace with a beautiful view of the Hudson River and a back area with a couple refrigerators and plenty of space where you can store everything that shouldn't be seen by guests. There is a spot in a corner up some stairs where you can have dejay set up or you can connect your own decide to play music through Sonos. From the huge windows and the over-sized patio, you can catch beautiful Hudson River sunsets and glimpses of how the well-to-do live since Bono and Nicole Kidman's buildings are just a few blocks away (trust me, I spent some time wishing I had some high-powered binoculars...) We hosted a launch event for a client here, and at first glimpse were kind of in awe of and surprised by the unique quality of the site and weren't sure it was what we wanted (since we booked it sight unseen.) We worked with the venue manager Rocky (the best,) to make it our own through A/V set ups, moving furniture and all of the visual fixins provided by our event company Events By Dano (see review,) and it really ended up being a fantastic place to work with. No stuffy ballroom, no crappy, dirty, overdone nightclub space; Ramscale provides you with something different and unique. Pros: - great space with great stories and history and a one-of-a-kind view of the Village and the Hudson - amazing management by Rocky; available for anything, ready for anything and gives the best tips on good food you can order in during your event set-up. Flexible, accommodating, laid-back and friendly but professional. - the place is completely white, so it serves as a blank canvas to bring in whatever colors you need whether for a corporate event or for a wedding or other special event. Cons: - It's a few blocks from the 2 closest subway stops and it's nearly impossible to catch a cab on the West Side Hwy following. Bottom line? Not the most convenient of places as compared to a venue in Midtown. - It can be a bit pricey, but you get what you pay for.

The building itself is so beautiful - it looks out on Manhattan. (Fantastic pictures!) The staff was just amazing from the time we booked until the moment the last guest left. Having three bridal suites upstairs was such a bonus, and the parking lot made things easy for vendors coming and going. From the start, Amelia was so detail-oriented during our initial tour and allowed us unlimited site visits, which was incredibly helpful for planning. Midway through, our main contact switched to Arthur, who was amazing, so sweet, accommodating, and customer-focused. Frank was wonderful as well, even granting us three extra hours of venue access and allowing us to ship a large mirror ahead of time, which was such a huge help and greatly appreciated. On the day-of, Arthur and Kat were the main on-site coordinators and they were incredible. I did hire a third-party, day-of coordinator and I don't regret this, as it helped give me peace of mind to ensure everything stayed on track! Honestly, the entire staff went above and beyond. My guests raved about the bartenders, especially the bald gentleman everyone loved (I am sorry I didn't catch his name) and the wait staff were so attentive and kind. Guests with dietary restrictions felt especially taken care of thanks to their thoughtfulness. I didn't catch everyone's name, but I do remember one person named Rafael was soooo sweet and was very attentive. Overall, I have noticed they have excellent staff retention (many of their staff have worked there for many years). That alone makes me happy and made me feel comfortable booking them. And the food... wow. From hors d'oeuvres to the grazing board to late-night pizza, everything was delicious. I received so many compliments, which is VERY rare for wedding food! I didn't eat much that night, but The Sanctuary kindly packed us (a LOT) of steak to-go, and my wife and I devoured it at 3 a.m. It was incredible. I ate that steak for lunch the two days following our wedding! At the end of the night, one of the staff members even helped us load our personal belongings into the Lyft, which they absolutely had no obligation to do. I truly cannot recommend this venue enough. It's a hidden gem that doesn't nickel-and-dime like other places and truly values building great relationships with their couples. If you're considering The Sanctuary, I would ABSOLUTELY book it!

And the ballroom, while ornate and certainly grand, managed to feel intimate and warm at the same time. Not sure how it looks sans decor, but it seemed like the space itself gives you a lot to work with. The front room is more industrial, but it was a perfect space for pre-dinner cocktails. No idea what $$ is (and I imagine not inexpensive!) but if you're looking at event spaces for a wedding or bar mitzvah, this should be on your tour!

There were these long dramatic columns that were designed with heavy details, with garlands, leaves all in gold. Their ceiling was also designed with a lot of detail. It is not your standard venue, they really take pride in the history of NYC and pays homage to 1920's New York. The gallery from the entrance to the ballroom is clean and modern, and they have different art work every month or so. The staff is very accomodating. I know a lot of people have their wedding receptions here, but this venue is a bit on the smaller end, so if you are planning an event that is a large scale (400+) sit down dinner, then I would look elsewhere.
