What a great concert venue. Safe, well run with good audio and great VIP area. I loved that I felt safe both inside and outside the venue, signage and rules made sense and the restrooms were maintained well throughout the show. Drink prices were high but it is a NYC venue so no shock there. Would return to see a show here in a heartbeat.

I have a list of music venues on my bucket list. Brooklyn Steel was one of them. Dean Lewis is an Australian musician and I love his music. Hence, I knew I had to buy a ticket when he had the presale event. The security check was ok. Bags were checked and I walked through a metal detector. Then, I was scanned for weapons. The sound system was very good. There was no problem with the performance. The venue has a liquor license. Thus, you can buy alcohol there. I would definitely go back.

I came here twice for two concerts with my good friend. Brooklyn steel is such a fun vibe. It can be a bit chaotic leaving the venue but not too bad either. I went to see Dean Lewis for my most recent concert performance here at the Brooklyn Steel. They have plenty of bathroom stools in the women's bathroom and small snacks for purchase. Getting inside the venue is super easy. They check for ID's first and then check your ticket. If you want to get a good view up close you should arrive when doors open because it's a GA venue. So if you are on the later side you won't get the best view of the event you are attending. Overall, the Brooklyn steel is a great venue for attending fun events. 10/10 rec

What a well run facility! Despite the lines out front, the front of house, staff got everybody in, through security, bags, checked, tickets, scanned, etc., in record time! It all felt friendly, professional, fast, and pretty chill. That's not usually the case when entering a concert. The whole warehouse vibe works for me. The ambience is pretty stripped back, but the sound quality and the site lines are fantastic. The drink prices were outrageous, but that's New York for you! My favorite part: easy bathroom access from the concert hall, and it was really reasonably clean! I would definitely go back.

About as far as I'd ever want to go for a concert venue. Waiting in line was painless (well, ok, it was raining but that's not their fault). People get tagged coming in, so under-21s (or if you forget your ID) will get "X" hands for the night. And maybe longer, who knows. It's nice and hollowed out inside. Bars worked pretty well, gave us cups of water - great service there. Bathrooms seemed to work well (friend testimony). Friendly crowd, held spots for people without issue. Good sound, perfect volume and mix the whole time - 5 stars for sound engineers. The only downside to my night was no mosh pits (not a heavy enough band I guess). Verdict: If I lived in NYC, this would be on my list of venues to track for my concerts.

I came here recently to see OK GO, and maybe another show a while back. It's a bit industrial with fancy state of the arts lights and good sounding room - it does job. Small enough that you can still see pretty well from then back. There's a balcony as well. Drinks were a little pricey to be expected. Super small outdoor lounge. Chill vibes, just a little lacking in personality.

Great music venue. I heard great. I saw DJo here. Leaving the place is pretty chaotic through a narrow space.

I came here for the first time to see Future Island back in 2022. Parking was tough because there was no parking when we got there. So we ended up parking in some random parking lot and ended up losing our car but that's not the point. So we when got to Brooklyn Steel, we were welcomed by a lot of people! The venue was so damn packed. You know there are many Future Island fans! Check in process was as easy as ever with just the security guard looking at me and my purse and I was in with my friend! They scanned our passes too to for the concert. Before we settle in the venue, we passed by the bar and it was damn packed. So hard to get your turn unless you keep scolding them or make yourself be heard. I was waiting patiently but was ignored by the bartender until I tried to push myself to the front so the bartender can notice me and my friend. We ordered IPAs to get started. Then we went inside the venue and it was not a big stage and it was just lots of flooring so everyone had to basically stand. Too bad I was so damn short so going to venues where I have to stand is just not worth it and a nuisance. Luckily I got to squeeze myself a good spot because my friend and I were the early ones. We also got to see the openers. Then when Future Island came on, everyone cheered and you can feel and hear the bass and guitar in your heart and ears. It was a nice concert and they played quite a lot of songs and had medleys of songs to finish the night. Throughout the concert, I moved around a bit to get a better view because everyone was so damn tall but it was alright because you can still hear them perform all around us. They sang so good and was in tune the whole time. Such a great crowd and very energetic and lively audience. I had so much fun and will return back to that venue for another concert.

Decent size, easy location for on street parking (if you're early enough.) The line was only about 8 people deep when we arrived. Part of our crew stood in line while the other half crossed the street and hit 18th Ward Brewing up. Like the proximity here (also when we exited instead of waiting in the long bathroom line at BS we went back to the 18th Ward! Pro tip!) Clean venue, nice staff. We were right up against the barricade in the front. Which meant the photographers were the only ones between us and the stage. The photographers were intense! Security and photographers handed out free waters to patrons (never seen this before but they stated they want to keep people hydrated to cut down on any medical issues.) Overall good experience for a show. Souls of Mischief, The Pharcyde and Cypress Hill crushed it!

    LCD Soundsystem
    Rob P.

Not my favorite venue. Saw LCD Soundsystem here, and they were fantastic and sounded great. Unfortunately, I couldn't see much of the actual band. The place is not laid out where you can see from anywhere except the front, and at a packed show like this it was impossible to get close. I did shove my way a third of the way forward on the last few songs to at least snap a picture, but most of the set I was at the back bar mostly listening to the band. I could do that at home with a YouTube video of them playing live and get the same vibe, and it wouldn't cost me $20 a drink! Wish I was just reviewing the band cuz they were 5*!

This venue is so much fun. It is a warehouse after all and does carry that vibe. Very spacious and industrial inside. Across the street there is a really good taco truck and a local brewery to pregame. Before you get in you go through a metal detector and get your bag inspected. Standard security. Inside the girl's bathroom has so many stalls so there are never any lines. Depending on the artist playing the place will be packed or spacious. I saw Black Pumas and the place was so FULL with good vibes. Great venue, parking is hit or miss. Plan B there is a parkwhiz location close for $15 and a 4 minute walk.

    Sarah C.

I was completely impressed with my first visit to Brooklyn Steel to see Carpenter Brut. My SO and I decided to drive in from NJ with no plans for parking. We were able to find street parking about two blocks away from the venue, so definitely consider doing that instead of paying at a lot. We arrived a little later than the opening time and had no issue getting through security quickly. The entryway layout is easy to navigate and the bar service was great. The stage is set at a great height for viewing, so I found it a little easier to watch the performance even with tall people moving about. The venue is quite large, so you didn't feel like sardines coming together, which I appreciated. The sound system was fantastic and provided a high quality for all of the artists.

    Don I.

Great place to take in a concert Black pumas killed it! The bar did a great job keeping up with the crowd I'll be back

Ask the Community - Brooklyn Steel

My son is 5 months away from 16. If he is chaperoned, will he be allowed into a 16 and over show?

Did you end up bringing him... wondering the same

    Do they use metal detectors?

Yes they had metal detectors on the evening I went there.

Is it ok for 16 years olds? Do they check ID's for alcohol?

They check IDs before you enter. If you're over 21 you get a wristband, and if you're under 21 they mark the backs of your hands.

Is the balcony standing room only as well?

    yes

Does the venue have a photobooth?

Not the night we were there , but it's possible there was one and we were not aware .

    Is it byob?

Nope, they have beer, wine and cocktails for sale.

    What happened to the dumplings!!!?

    Dumplings?

What's the general admission section like? Also do they let you bring food and or drinks?

I don't think they let you bring in food or drinks. General admission is basically just a large room with a stage in the front and a bar in the back

Show starts at 8. What time should I arrive to get close to the front?

I'd say about half an hr. From my experience, it doesn't get too packed but that might depend on who is performing

Are all tickets over $100 each or is it for just certain bands?

Go to Brooklyn steel website 30$

Does this venue take credit cards at the merchandise store?

Each band that comes in does their own merch so it could be different for each one, but every band I've seen has taken cards via Square or similar phone-based system.

Can under 16 get in w an adult?

Yes. Depending on the particular show's age restriction.

My 13 year old wants to go see some teen up and coming star. Anyone know if they’ll let her in with a parent?

More than likely you will need to buy yourself a ticket if you want to enter the venue. That's the standard operating procedure for most venues.

Wheres the best viewing area for someone who has never been there?

I dunno, what do you like?

Where is the entrance to the building? Where can I line up before a show?

The building is on the corner of Frost and Debevoise (east side of street). The entrance is on Debevoise with the line wrapping around the corner onto Frost if it gets long.

When shows start at 8, what time do they typically end at?

Shows normally start an hour after doors, and you should figure roughly 45 minutes per opening act, give or take 15. Headliners then need to have the stage cleared and set up for them, and can either be perfectly on time, or decide to have a few… Read more

    Is the neighborhood dangerous?

It feels a bit remote (very few businesses in the area are open late, so basically only concert-goers are out), but I never felt unsafe. On one visit, I had some trouble with my rideshare and had to wait maybe 12 minutes to be picked up from a… Read more

How strict are the ID concerts? As in, if I was just under the restriction?

I've been to two concerts here, and they check all IDs on the way in, so they would most likely stop you.

    How are the bathrooms?

They are clean and there are plenty of stalls. You won't wait in line, even at a sold out show!

Hi! I'm running straight from the airport for the show on the 18th... I'm carrying only carry-on luggage... will it be possible to leave it at the wardrobe?

Last night they were only accepting one coat per hanger. It was a zoo, and I'm pretty sure the answer will be no.

They have some cool looking cocktails, and the one that really caught my attention was a peanut butter espresso martini. For the longest, because I was afraid of how much it would be (it actually wasn't too bad), I resisted the urge, but after the concert, I got one and it was delicious, even though it was not jazzed up and looking fancy like a typical espresso martini.
