A friend and I stopped in today to have some sweet treats and wow we were both amazed with this place. Not only does it offer amazing and delicious baked goods, but it also has hot food, alcoholic beverages, along with a lot of cute items for sale. It was painful to stand in line to place my order because once I thought I had figured out what I wanted, I saw something else that looked equally delicious. I ended up with a slice of salted chocolate caramel cake, which came with extra salted caramel, and it was delicious! I couldn't eat it all so it was nice to have the rest of the piece later at home. My friend got one of the Shindigz cookies and raved about it. She said it was one of the best cookies she's ever had. They have indoor and outdoor seating and as today was a nice day, we sat outside in a little garden area that had fountains and was very nice. Or, you can skip right to the dessert options! I have yet to have a bad dessert here, but favorite include their Oreo mocha pie, any version of Oreo cake, cannoli, and their homemade Oreos. Service is always warm and friendly, and there are lots of tables to sit inside or outside in their garden area! A Richmond staple and for good reason!

I thought there was line out the door at first but it turns out it's just a window so the line is always out the door I guess. We grabbed two slices, one banoffee and one coconut cream. The sweet potato was equally as good but with a much milder flavor. And the cookies....out of this world! The servers were friendly but nothing over the top. They seemed to be a cog in the machine and churning out orders. Overall, a cute little, vegan, spot with really good pastries and coffee. Head caution on the milkshakes if you are not use to vegan milkshakes. While they taste good, at least to me, they are wildly different than an cows milk milkshake. I ultimately had to ask another customer who was standing in line if they knew where to pick up a DoorDash order. The entire experience was incredibly dismissive and unprofessional. The ambiance was clean and orderly. Upon entering, you grab a serving tray lined with parchment and some tongs. The items are in a glass enclosed display that you have to open and place your selections on your tray for purchase. I settled on the pistachio cream filled pecan pastry, the almond twist, and strawberry shortcake. The beverage menu was extensive: matcha, flavored teas, cocoa, espresso/coffee, and more. We were greeted by pleasant staff at checkout and our orders placed in a parchment type bag for take out. They also have seating inside. The pastries were just sweet enough without being overly sweet, which I like. The pistachio cream was a perfect compliment to the pecan encrusted pastry. The almond twist was both flaky and crunchy with the sliced almonds on top, and the strawberry shortcake had layers of real strawberries, whipped topping and yellow cake that was moist. All were fresh. All in all, a great place to stop by for a morning pastry treat and tea/coffee while in the area,

I ordered the charcuterie board ($28), a chicken salad croissant sandwich ($14), and the Lavender Bees Knees ($8). The drink was very pretty but not super flavorful. The chicken salad was good enough, but I think the croissant alone would have been wonderful. The charcuterie board had a substitutions I was not made aware of upon ordering (no pepper jelly, blanched almonds instead of candied pecans, and a green onion mixed type goat cheese with bacon in it instead of maple bacon goat cheese). They did add little pickles and the presentation was pretty enough, but no flowers like the owner posted photo on here. The meat was pretty thick which could be a positive or negative depending on personal preference, and the meat was decent quality. The fig jam was very good. The waitress who was helping the other tables had brought my food out but didn't check on me at all. I had to go up to the counter again to order a cinnamon roll ($8) and a coffee ($5) which she brought out to me. The coffee was nice and dark (Cameo blend) and incredibly hot. The cinnamon roll was okay, not very much cinnamon flavor but it was delicate and the icing was decent. The interior was pretty and it was a good spot to read a book and spend a morning.

Now they seem to be expanding to multiple pop ups in the same block of Cary street which is awesome! Kudos for all those years of hard work!! The cakes are simply the best in Richmond. They're pricey but totally worth the splurge! I'm not a huge fan on the little teeny tiny caramel sauce they give you on the side... if i remember correctly it used to be drizzled right on top of the cake!! When it's separate it really isn't the same consistency, it's kinda grainy, and it's definitely not enough caramel!! We tried the black and white cake recently which is also great but salted caramel is my ride or die. I'm a serious fan of their new market which is a fab place for late night sugar cravings.
