Such a cute adorable coffee shop over by Grove! Seriously, it felt like I was in a Hallmark movie... lol! Latte was delicious and service was excellent. Looking forward to trying other menu items next time around. :)
I chose this bakery because I was celebrating a special event, a retirement party, and I was on cake duty. It was recommended for me to go to a grocery chain bakery to get the cake, which is really a staple in a lot of the circles that I'm in. But I hate their cake. So I decided to take a chance and try Cameo. I've had their cupcakes in the past, and I couldn't recall if I was very blown away by them, but I decided to give them a try because it was the thirteenth hour, and I needed to make a game-time decision. The bakery is beautiful with indoir and outdoor seating. A small group quietly played a game at one of the tables and it was lovely seing them enjoy their company. When I received the cake, it looked very lackluster. I was not impressed with the decorations, which may have been a gap in the way i ordered online. It wasnt my priority and i really wanted to make sure that it tasted amazing and that everyone enjoyed it. The person at the bakery who helped me gave me specific instructions on giving it time to thaw, not letting it sit out, and was very helpful in that way. When it came down to serving the cake, everyone was blown away. Everybody asked me where I got the cake from. Even our honoree, who typically does not like cake, wanted more. It was just a big hit. The host of the party threw a small fit, thinking we didn't squirrel any of the cake away for them, but we did. And some people tried to take more than their share home (they were stopped). I was very proud to serve it, and if anybody wants to celebrate me and not get a Cameo cake, I'm going to turn into Miss Trunchbull from Matilda and make them eat the whole cake themselves.
Stopped in to pick up a couple of cupcakes. The interior is beautiful and a place where you can sit inside and enjoy the view. I tried the red velvet and a birthday cake flavor. The cupcakes were okay. I don't know if I was blown away with the texture of the cake. I thought the flavor options were pretty good. The workers were friendly.
Cameo is so lovely! We visited to experience the festive decorations and were pleasantly surprised by how delicious the food was. We made a reservation on their website and upon arrival, I was glad we did. There's limited seating indoors, about 10 tables mostly for parties of 2. There's also patio seating with a few space heaters. There was 1 server handling all the tables indoors and she was fantastic. We tried a couple lattes, croissant sammies, and the cinnamon roll. The chicken salad sammie was my favorite. The croissant was fluffy and buttery and the chicken salad was refreshing. The cinnamon roll was great too, though a tad too sweet for me, and is made with croissant dough.
The Boston Cream Pie Cupcake is what dreams are made of!! The chocolate frosting on top pairs well with the yellow cake and, as a fun bonus, there is delicious Boston cream in the middle! It does sell out so be prepared to go on the earlier side if you really want it. They also have an incredible espresso martini and fun holiday variations like a red velvet espresso martini. The restaurant always decorates for holidays making it a fun place to go for a holiday brunch or just a midday pick me up!
Yelp says I've been six times, so I suppose I'm a touch overdue for a review. Cameo is a gem. I love how they decorate for the seasons; it always feels bright, in touch, and thoughtful. They have their own little parking lot too, which is nice in a pinch. I don't think I've ever had a subpar pastry there. They're known for their cupcakes, and most recently I tried their gingerbread - so good! I also love their seasonally inspired cocktails. I had the gingerbread white russian and it was lovely. I also brought the sage sausage savory cake home to my boyfriend after a girls' visit, and the dude inhaled it in like 10 seconds flat. Service is friendly, prices are reasonable, and I will be back I'm sure!
I struggled to rate this place. Cute place, good coffee, not good cupcakes. I got an iced caramel macchiato and that was a solid 4.5 +. Very coffee forward and I can taste the caramel. The cupcakes were a 2.75. They look good- but they were dry (especially the almond raspberry) The vanilla cake was maybe the better of the four cupcakes - softer but tasty eggy / chewy. Not really soft and moist. The chocolates were both dry, dense, and not soft. The raspberry jam tasted chemically. The best part of the four cupcakes was the chocolate ganache on the double chocolate. The inside was extremely cute and cozy looking. The service was nice and friendly.
So cute! Sat at the bar with my bestie and ordered her favorite....pimento! We'd been coffee hopping and the platter was a great pause on our journey. The espresso martini was delish and I really liked the energy in this spot! Oooo and the cinnamon roll was OOOEY GOOEY GOOD!
Very nicely decorated cafe/bakery for the holiday. Small so unless you're open to outside seating not very ideal for groups larger than 4-6! A variety of coffees and tea are available plus a full bar. We didn't dine here as my group had brunch elsewhere but we all enjoyed our drinks. I had the seasonal White Russian which was delicious. My fiance and another friend enjoyed the mimosa flight. I also got a cupcake which was good but a little dry because I think it was refrigerated. I would try a baked good again but would get it to go and enjoy at home at room temperature. Our server was a very sweet vcu student whose name I don't remember but she's very attentive and kind!
Great vibe with the furniture, the decoration, and the colors in the indoor space. The outdoor space looks very enjoyable, but I haven't sat there yet. The staff is friendly and polite. Although I try to stay away from sweets, their cupcakes look delicious. Illl have to have one of my kids try them and tell me if they are good :) I do like their cappuccino.
Vibes: impeccable. Beautiful outdoor seating area remniscent of if you visited your posh neighbor's front lawn for afternoon tea. Inside is cozy with separate areas of seating. The bathroom is beautifully decorated as well. 100/10 Service: nice service overall, i didnt realize it was a full service restaurant at first. The servers were really nice and chill with me treating it as a coffee shop even though they were full service. The menu was a little confusing but that could have just been my own fault. 4/5 Food: i noticed they had a lot of alternative options for different dietary preferences (veg, gluten free, dairy free, etc) which was really cool. I got a ham and cheese croissant. It was buttery with good flavor but looked... deflated... which was an interesting presentation. I am curious to try their flatbreads though! 3/5 until I come again for some other options Cakes: extra category for the cakery! I... didnt get a cake but i heard they are good. Oops Drink: i got a coffee, it was solid. I'd give it a 3.5. Their creative mixed drinks look really fun, and it definitely goes with the cute vibe they have Worth: Yes. A friend of mine has been telling me for years that they have the best chocolate chip cookies in the city here at Cameo, and shame on me for taking so long to finally visit. I wanna gatekeep but honesty and transparency and what not... The chocolate chip cookies are sold in sandwich form, and they were rolled in sprinkles this particular day. I'm not a fan of sprinkles... I know that makes me sound like the Grinch of desserts, but they induce unnecessary chewing and have very little detectable flavor, at least not enough to warrant their presence. In/on ice cream, they're intolerable. On cookies, however, I can manage. For the best cookie in RVA? Sprinkle me up, baby. The cookie was soft, thick, and extra salty which works so very well with the other flavors. I also ordered a coconut cream cupcake and it was incredibly fresh and delicious. The texture was soft and fluffy, and the coconut flavor was prominent but not overpowering. I can't give a firsthand review on the pupcake I bought, but my fur-nephew definitely approved. He's reporting me to PETA for only purchasing one.
Cute is an understatement. This restaurant is adorable, and serves a really tasty variety of sweet and savory cake. The staff couldn't have been friendlier, and the decor was so in line with the spirit of the restaurant that the whole experience felt like I was eating in a theme park (and yet it was not overwhelming). Highly recommend you try the savory bundt cake. My salmon selection was really good, and my cousin ordered the same thing. I'll add that parking is slightly tight around the area, though I didn't have any trouble getting in or out. Bought a couple cupcakes to go, as I think might be custom for this place, and really enjoyed those too. Thank y'all for a lovely time!

I came in right after 8am, so they were probably just setting up and didn't think to seat me for dine in. It was brusque but mostly not overtly rude, perhaps they were just busy getting ready. I ordered the charcuterie board ($28), a chicken salad croissant sandwich ($14), and the Lavender Bees Knees ($8). The drink was very pretty but not super flavorful. The chicken salad was good enough, but I think the croissant alone would have been wonderful. The charcuterie board had a substitutions I was not made aware of upon ordering (no pepper jelly, blanched almonds instead of candied pecans, and a green onion mixed type goat cheese with bacon in it instead of maple bacon goat cheese). They did add little pickles and the presentation was pretty enough, but no flowers like the owner posted photo on here. The meat was pretty thick which could be a positive or negative depending on personal preference, and the meat was decent quality. The fig jam was very good. The waitress who was helping the other tables had brought my food out but didn't check on me at all. I had to go up to the counter again to order a cinnamon roll ($8) and a coffee ($5) which she brought out to me. The coffee was nice and dark (Cameo blend) and incredibly hot. The cinnamon roll was okay, not very much cinnamon flavor but it was delicate and the icing was decent. The interior was pretty and it was a good spot to read a book and spend a morning. read more
I really enjoyed this coffee shop. The shop itself is beautiful and has a lot of seating, perfect for a study session or hangout spot! The menu also has lots of different choices which all sounded delicious. I got the chocolate croissant and thought it was delicious! The coffee ... not my favorite. It isn't bad by any means but it is just meh. Honestly a coffee from starbucks is better for the same price. I also did not try the cupcakes but they looked beautiful and well made. Overall, great shop with a great atmosphere and a great food menu. Coffee on the other hand is just average. I would recommend this place solely for the atmosphere. read more

One of the best bakery in town, check it out if you like an innovated bakery place perfect for brunch. Apparently they also have really good cupcakes at least the kids love them. They have the unique Bundt that's like an upside down pie. It's pretty delicious and filling. Pretty healthy if you do not want sweets. The cinnamon bun is large and a lot of icing. read more

What a cute place! The staff was very welcoming and friendly. My husband and I got an array of items- stuffed breakfast croissant and a regular breakfast sandwich with ham and cheese. Both were pretty good. I also ended up getting a cinnamon roll which did not really seem like the average roll. It seemed like it was on a croissant smothered with the sweetest cream cheese frosting. It was good but way too sweet and not my style of a roll. However, we did get a few cupcakes: birthday cake, chocolate, peanut butter chocolate and the carrot cake. All were amazingly delicious! The cake was so moist and the frosting was perfect! We will definitely come back for the cupcakes! read more

Friday 3/22/2024 This spot right here GREATLY EXCEEDED my expectations. I was looking for cinnamon rolls in the area and wasn't having much luck so I decided to call in and check if they had any and fortunately they did. I got a warm cinnamon roll for $7.58 after taxes and it was one of the best cinnamon rolls I've had. The appearance looked like a basic cinnamon roll but the flavor and taste proved me wrong cause it was AMAZING. It had the perfect balance of dough, cinnamon, and icing. The dough's texture was nice & soft, the cinnamon was great (had a slight jam texture which complimented the cinnamon roll very nicely), and the icing was good as well. The cinnamon roll has a legit 0 flaws that I can name. This place right here is the one if you are looking for a great cinnamon roll. Also they have cupcakes and other items that I would be open to trying in the future. I would definitely recommend this bakery & obviously return for more. read more

I decided to stop in today as I'm on a quest to find good croissants in Richmond. I decided to try a chocolate croissant and a vanilla latte. It was such a nice day that I decided to sit outside in the front to eat and drink. The croissant was served warm, with flaky crust and gooey chocolate inside. The latte was super foamy. Both were delicious! The staff was super friendly. I really enjoyed my visit and will definitely be coming back! read more

I went to have a lunch date with a friend. I had seen their Nitro flight on Instagram and decided to give it a try. Tips: 1)Make a reservation. They only served tables inside when we were there. 2) They have very festive decor for Christmas, plan on posting for pictures 3) Try the savory cakes. They are similar to a quiche and delightful. I got the chicken and artichoke one. My friend who is vegitarian got the brie, Brussels and beets one. 4) The cupcakes are ok, but not worth $4 each. Our kiddos tried several. Chocolate Peanut butter was the fave. 5) The Nitro was fun, and a lovely amount of caffeine. The coconut was my fave. read more

I've been wanting to try this spot for a while now and today we only had time to grab a coffee. I was excited to try their pumpkin dirty chai I saw on their instagram page. The pumpkin chai and cinnamon bun latte were both great drinks! Can't wait to come back when we have more time to dine in! The inside and outside are both so cute. Can't wait to try a cupcake too next time. We will definitely be back! read more
Great place to visit with family! Came here with my son and nephew to see the holiday decor and try some things. The decor was beautiful and staff were very friendly. We ordered the cold plate sampler for an appetizer, which came with three cold salads, all of which were delicious, but it only came with four crackers so I would personally like to see more crackers served with this item. We got two savory cakes which were incredible and my favorite things we ordered. I got a pizza for the little ones, which was justt okay. I think the texture was off for us as it was vegan and gluten free. A nice option for those with dietary restrictions though. The cupcakes were also amazing and I'd like to come back again earlier in the day to see if there are more options at that time. Overall we had a great time, great ambience, and enjoyed the food. Incredible edibles! I will definitely be making several cameo appearances at this ultra cool restaurant in Libbie & Grove area! If you are out and about "on the avenues", be sure to make this new eatery your lunch spot! The brick patio is fully decked out with outdoor seating, bright turquoise chairs and stools, lights, wood beams, atmosphere to spare! Inside is just as inviting with vintage tin ceiling, and several sleek tables and booths. The restroom is on my top 10 aesthetically beautiful bathroom in RVA! The sparkly peacock wallpaper is everything! It's clean, bright, and peachy! The only thing missing is a hook or shelf for one's handbag. It so pretty in there, you may not want to leave! I almost think they should extend that theme throughout the main room! The cupcakes are divine! I've tried every flavor! The pretzels are as big as your head! I've also had the chix salad platter and it's delish! Great food, service can be a tad slow, and great atmosphere! read more

This is one of my absolute favorite bakeries ! I'm not normally too into cupcakes, but Cameo made me obsessed. They have so many daily staples such as chocolate peanut, raspberry almond, lemon or vanilla. However, I recommend keeping an eye out on their social media for daily and weekly specials. If they offer their carrot cake, banana cream, or cookie dough flavor, make sure you run to grab them! You can easily order online if you would like to grab some sweets ahead of time. If you want something savory, they also have pizzas, savory croissants, savory cakes, and more. They serve drinks such tea, coffee and fancy cocktails. The bakery is so cute and colorful. They have both indoor & outdoor seating with the outdoor seating having a shaded covering. There's also a small parking lot and plenty of street parking options, so it's easy to get your sweet fix! read more

My group got a variety of items at this charming cafe. My daughter and I got the savory individual Bundt cakes. I chose the chicken, spinach and artichoke on arugula. This was absolutely delicious. The only thing I would suggest is to blend the artichokes more. They were slightly chewy. My daughter got the salmon and Gouda Bundt. The coffees looked very nice. My grandson got a cupcake and cinnamon bun. My mom got a coconut cupcake and my son-in-law got a birthday cupcake. There were a wide variety of cupcakes available. The restrooms are clean and very pretty with peacock wallpaper in the women's powder room. The service was okay but our server did not refill our water or offer to refill my mother's tea. That is my only complaint. All in all, a nice experience. read more

Cute family-friendly spot on Libbie - nice for a daytime hang or happy hour. I've seen both kids studying and adults working remote here. Indoor seating and outdoor patio seating available. The service is consistently friendly and welcoming. I've only ever tried the cupcakes - they'll have your basic flavors on everyday rotation and also offer seasonal/weekend specials. If you find yourself in the west end and craving sweets, don't feel like you have to drive to the Fan (like I sometimes forget) for amazing baked goods from that other shop! You can get them right here at Cameo! We tried the salted chocolate caramel cupcake, the almond raspberry cupcake and the chocolate chip cookie sandwich on this trip, and they were all delicious. What a cute and yummy coffee/bake shop with great service! Met a friend for coffee here and was first met with the the beautiful decorations outside. It was just as cute and quaint inside. Had made a reservation online because it doesn't have a ton of seating inside, and were seated right away. Had an excellent friendly waitress who took very good care of us. Now onto the food: Coffee-just got the plain but very good and unlimited refills. Ham & Swiss croissant-delicious nice and flakey Savory Cake-tried the sausage and peppers one. Had a great flavor and texture. I got four servings out of it but would depend on how hungry you are. Very rich! Cupcakes- we had one with toffee bits and the chocolate cake almost had a coffee hint to it as well as a birthday cake one! Both excellent! Wish I lived closer to this place but will try to stop by when in Richmond! read more
My friend and I went to Cameo for the second year in a row to take in the beauty of their Christmas Decorations and we were not disappointed. The moment you walk up to the front entrance, you are greeted with pink and sparkles, gold and white toy soldiers, and gingerbread men statues. Inside the decor continues with big Ho Ho Ho signs and lights. Even during a busy season, we were able to get a table fairly easily. I had made a reservation but we had gotten delayed and when I called they were really kind and helped me make it a little bit later. I think the only downside i have for the cafe is that their menus were a bit sticky/dirty which was a little bit gross. However, despite that, their cocktail menu was super cute and very festive. We had a hard time choosing one cause they all looked tasty but I ended up getting the merry margarita which was delicious. To eat, I got the fig and arugula pizza with pesto and it was super tasty - gluten free as well which didn't hurt the flavor or texture of the crust! :) To finish off our meal, we each got a cupcake - I got the white almond raspberry and it was amazing. I usually go for chocolate and/or peanut butter but the almond flavor of this treat was awesome. I love that this has become a tradition during the holidays but I know I'll definitely be coming back throughout the year as well. read more
