I'm stunned by the lack of reviews for this gem of a bakery. Nestled into the craziness of Carytown, this bakery offers a sophisticated dose of sweetness. "Babka is my love language," I mean, yes, same. And in addition to full loaves of babka, guess what else they have? Babka muffins (chocolate). They're on par with DC's Call Your Mother deli's babka muffins. So good! I also ordered the chocolate chip scones, which come in a two pack. They were delightful also. I also heard great things about the lemon pastry and the vanilla scone. Just look at the pictures I posted. Do you know how hard it was to limit myself to two items? Somehow I managed to turn and walk away from the Oreo cookies and black and white cookies. But, moderation. I will obviously be back and I recommend you all follow suit too.

I love bakeries and I have a big sweet tooth so when we walking around carytown and saw Claudia's Bakery we HAD to go in. When you walk in there is an open area with a few tables and chairs and a stairway up to the Bakery cases. I didnt see a ramp or other way up if you could not navigate the stairs. Everything looked delicious! The person at the counter was friendly and answered all our questions. We were there pretty late in the day so the cases were not full. We settled on 2 cookies to go..... the million dollar cookie which was a chocolaty cross between a cookie and brownie. And a oreo chocolate chunk cookie. Both were tasty but the oreo one was on the money DELICIOUS!!!! We will be back to try the babka next! +1 Service +1 Food~Taste/flavor/quality +1 Presentation +1 Atmosphere/vibe +1 Value

Such a cute bake shop and cafe! I got a brown sugar latte and it was delicious. The barista helped me brainstorm how to make it less sweet (we landed on 1 pump instead of 3). I also got two small pastries (I forget the name) but they were also delicious. I wanted to try so many more items including the chocolate chip cookie, cheesecake brownie, and more. This is a super cute bakery with lots to offer, I'll definitely be back!

Gluten free vegan 6" cake for $95. ‍

it was the first time i ordered from this bakery. And the last for sure. I emailed Claudia asking if they can make a GF vegan and soy-free cake. It was for my daughter's birthday and there were a few people with allergy restrictions. the bakers were very responsive and kindly explained what brands are they using for substitutions. I was charged a nonrefundable amount of 95$ before taxes for the smallest 6" (!!) cake, triple the price that I would pay elsewhere. Oh well , I thought, that's my daughters birthday, why not splurge. It was chocolate cake with fresh strawberries and covered with candy canes. it is very expensive compared to other places I ordered from, but I wanted to try a different place and bakers seemed nice. When I picked it up it looked super cute, exactly like in the picture that I provided reference. I asked if I should serve it right out of the fridge, and I was told it's better to take it out couple hours before serving. The cake was out of refrigerator for only one hour, at the end of the birthday party we open the box, and it was completely melted! I was shocked because it never happened with any cakes that I ordered at other places before, nor with the cakes that I baked. My 13 years old baked a GF vegan cake just recently, using a recipe from the box of carob and it was great. I emailed the bakery with my concern and attached a picture. For $95 it is a vary very bad experience. I got zero response. No apologies, no offers of full or partial refund d, no offer of a discount in the future ... nothing! Definitely not recommend this place.

Blanchard's Coffee - Summer special: Ube Coconut Latte

I came here with a friend on a hot afternoon looking for a cool drink. I spotted a latte special…read morewith Ube and coconut and wanted to try it. I was a bit disappointed that they only offer whole or oat milk, as I was used to having more milk options (like low fat or nonfat). I can't drink whole milk and I'm not a big fan of oat milk. The barista recommended that I try the oat milk and said if I didn't like the drink, they would make me something else. I asked for light oak milk and hoped for the best. My latte was served in layers, so I got a big blast of oat milk in my first sip, but after I mixed my latte, it tasted so much better. The coconut flavor really came through and offset the oat milk flavor. I was really happy with my drink and with the super helpful barista. I'll for sure be coming back!

As anyone can see by my other reviews, I give a lot of 4 and 5-star ones, and am generally not a complainer. When I rate something low, there's really a reason. There was nothing for me to like about this place. First, there was no signage to speak of. It wasn't real easy to find. I didn't even know I had found the right place until I saw the name of the place on the bags of coffee. When I came in, it was a cold feeling, not a friendly one. Every person I dealt with behind the counter wasn't warm or inviting. I got the feeling that they felt I "should have known" where to order, and "should have known" where to wait, or to pick up my coffee. I got a takeout hot coffee but had to interrupt and kindly ask for a lid. And when I did I got a vibe like I was an irritation or something. I went out to the car with my coffee and told my husband I hoped it was really outstanding coffee with what I had to go through to get it. And you know what, it wasn't all that great. It's not worth going back for. I don't get why people like or recommend this place.

It's definitely a local spot and there was a small line when we arrived around 9:30ish, but it moved relatively quickly and we ordered an oatmilk latte, brown sugar cardamom oatmilk latte, and vegan burrito. The weather was nice, so we found outdoor seating and our drinks/food came out within 10mins. Overall, not our favorite cup of coffee in the area - but still good and very-well priced! The burrito was yummy too - I'd definitely recommend if you're looking for a relaxed, no-fuss spot :)

It is a cool place to spend time in town, grab a coffee, and do some solid people watching. The breakfast burrito is great, and the coffee is pretty good too. The staff is extremely nice, and everything always comes out as quickly as possible, which I really appreciate. It is not the best place to work from home during the winter. The Wi-Fi can be a bit spotty at times, and there is no easily accessible power, which makes longer work sessions tough. When the weather is nice, though, their screened-in outdoor seating is a great place to work for a few hours. Overall, it is an easy spot to recommend, whether you are stopping by for breakfast, hanging out with friends, or just looking for a relaxed place to spend some time.

Still rating 5 stars because I've had so many memories here! --------------------------------- Drinks: I usually get a cold brew or latte. The cold brew hits, especially after a nice long run around Carytown/grove. Their lattes are alright, but not as good as some other places. The matcha is unfortunately not the best either, I think they use some type of sweetened powder as even the unsweetened is still sweet and the matcha flavor tastes burnt and not the best quality Also wish they had more seasonal drink options (other than the seasonal syrups) Recommendations: cold brew with splash of oat; pastries (macarons) Affordability: well priced (especially in this economy) Ambiance: cozy coffee shop vibes to hang out, not the best for studying/work Service: Great! they also have stamp cards Good for: post run coffee, coffee when you are not in a rush
