I've heard so much about Fat Rabbit had to stop in for a treat. The whipped coffee was amazing. We were greeted as soon as we walked in and got there just in time for a brownie and a pastry. You can grab and go or hangout and sip slow. Loved the vibe here and the food makes you lingering.

I've been wanting to try this place forever, and I finally made it! Let me just say the hoptart blew me away. I'm usually not a huge Pop-Tart fan, but this was on a whole different level. It's like a grown-up, gourmet version; flaky, flavorful, and totally worth the hype. I also grabbed two cookies: the dark chocolate olive oil and the s'mores. The dark chocolate one was rich and unique, though a touch heavy on the salt for my taste. But the s'mores cookie? Absolutely perfect! gooey, nostalgic, and just the right amount of sweetness. The staff was so friendly and genuinely excited to have me there, which made the experience even better. The shop itself is adorable. Cozy, stylish, and filled with natural light. I really wish I had more time to sit and enjoy the space with a coffee because the vibes were immaculate. I've been eyeing their cakes for a while now and am just waiting for the right moment to place an order. They book up fast, so if you're thinking about it--don't wait! From everything I've seen (and now tasted), I can't wait to get my hands on one soon.

Ever since the temporary departure of Subrosa, us Church Hill resident's needed to seek out an adequate replacement in the neighborhood for reliably delicious pastries - and honestly, Fat Rabbit delivers on that and then some. Impressively delicious pastries and decent coffee. The interior is very cute and clean. Friendly staff who can manage long lines quite quickly. Location is unique - walkable from most of the core of Church Hill. Something about that combo of salt, olive oil, and chocolate was music to my taste buds... did that make sense? IDK, but this place is great.

This place popped up on my social media as a local place so we decided to try it out. If you don't do anything else... get that chocolate chip... or more like chocolate chunk cookie with that sea salt on it.... 10000000/10!!! Delicious! We had their version of a pop tart... i think it was called a hop tart. Flaky and buttery but the inside is so sweet that I could do without the frosting on top but that's just personal preference. I'm always glad to try somewhere new. The other things we got were okay. They were busy but moved fairly quickly. We wanted to order more but with the amount of people there, it was a little anxiety trying to figure out everything they had... but we will be back to try other things.

    Hoptart and quiche

Had pastries here for breakfast and loved them! I ordered the quiche and blueberry hoptart. Both were delicious. The quiche was still warm when I got it. It had a hefty egg filling and flaky, not soggy crust. The hoptart was also flaky and buttery and had a good ratio of blueberry filling to pasty. I wish mine had a little more icing though. I wish I had the option to warm it up. I would definitely come back here next time I'm in Richmond.

I was excited to check out Fat Rabbit, as this seems to be a favorite spot for the locals for their breakfast items, pastries, and cakes. We stopped by here, early in the morning, and there was already a line! We ordered: +a Strawberry Hoptart - this was their version of a Pop-Tart; this was actually pretty good; the filling was generous, but could have been spread more towards the edges; the thick icing on top was nice +Spiced Fig Maple Scone - wasn't a fan of the spices that were used in this one, and the scone was hard and dry +Lemon Poppyseed Scone - this was also GF - didn't really taste any of the lemon that I was hoping for; this was also hard and dry +a Summer Cookie - this seemed like a take on s'mores; this was chewy, chocolate-y, and yummy! +a Brown Butter Bay Leaf Toffee Blondie - the bay leaf seemed to be the focal flavor in this one; it was just not enjoyable, and we couldn't taste the brown butter nor the toffee; the brownie itself was also hard, but had a weird 'moist' surface to it +and, an Egg + Cheese with added bacon Biscuit - a breakfast sandwich; the biscuit was large, but could have been slightly more buttery; this was actually tasty and filling, and could be easily shared between 2 people! I also ordered one of their seasonal drinks - something that had brown butter and fig (?) in it? However, what I received was super watered down and had a slight coffee taste to it; no flavors of the brown butter or the other ingredient... this was really disappointing. I do want to try out their cake slices next time, as this seems to be pretty popular. Service was friendly! The place is cute, with the tiles and the decor; I really liked their 'fat rabbit' logo. There's also a handful of seating inside for those who want to dine-in. There were many to-go and advance order pick-ups as well. Ample street parking is available in the area. +tasty cookies +generous biscuit breakfast sandwiches +friendly service +ample street parking available

My first time trying this place was nice but nothing exceptional. The cakes remind me of the ones at Stella's Grocery: dense three-layer barely sweet cakes with a light buttercream. I had Prosecco Strawberry Vanilla (Prosecco indelible in the cake flavor but overshadowed by the tartness of the strawberries) and "Bunfetti" Brown Sugar (no noticeable brown sugar flavor and tastes almost stale although the texture didn't convey staleness). The tomato basil galette and the blackberry "Hoptart" were delicious. The crust is especially noteworthy because the crust on both pastries was perfectly buttery with a nice flaky texture; however, one end of my Hoptart was noticeably burnt, not just visually but taste wise which rendered it inedible. The filling in each pastry was enjoyable but nothing remarkable. The shop is small and intimate with an adequate amount of seating, and the associates were kind and courteous, but I didn't try anything that I believe I'll ever have a craving for again. Cute bakery overall though it doesn't rank very high in my book.

Always wonderful and they have some of the best seasonal pastries and desserts the hop tarts ate INCREDIBLE and change daily, always have to get one when I go. But the real star...dark chocolate olive oil cookie with flaky sea salt ‍ incredible. go try them out!!

We picked up assorted treats from Fat Rabbit for a work event and they did not disappoint! Love that this is a woman-owned business! The prices are very reasonable so it worked great for an event for a lot of people. They are open on Tuesdays but you can't preorder so we went around 7:45am and they had plenty to choose from. The staff were super friendly and helpful. The space had plenty of street parking out front. I loved the amount of space and natural light inside! I tried the hop tart and it was delicious!! I'd love to go back and try some of the savory things too. Great experience and I recommend!

Triple citrus ginger & cardamom cake with orange blossom buttercream
    Marilyn B.

Charming bakeshop located in Union Hill. Wonderful customer service. Enjoyed my double shot espresso coffee. Bougie fancy cakes with beautiful presentation. While it was good, I am not sure it was worth the upscale price. We got the seasonal Triple citrus ginger & cardamom cake with orange blossom buttercream frosting. I like that the frosting was not at all sweet, but the consistency was a bit thick. Cake itself was dense. Not overtly tasteful. It was almost basic. Subtle hints of citrus. I Thought the flavor would be more overpowering with the name being triple citrus ginger & cardamom. A little disappointing.

The Wednesday before Thanksgiving I went on the search for bread. I knew there were two good bakeries in Churchill. I went to fat rabbit first, but they didn't have bread, but oh my God, the sweet potato tort with goat cheese I got was incredible. I had a very hard time, deciding what I was gonna get, but the explosion of taste in my mouth is incredible. Really cute, cozy place easy to park, the other really cool and cozy place. They have a fridge to distribute food to the food insecure and they were also passing out turkeys right in front of the shop.

    Peach Hoptart

This place is the definition of charming! You can feel love oozed into every corner by Ellyn and her team. Everyone is so sweet (just like the pastries and cake)! I came here on opening day and I couldn't have been more pleased with my experience. The cashier helped me decide amongst the many delicious options to choose from. Here's what I got: Peach Hoptart: I'm a huge sucker for any business's take on a poptart. This one wins the BEST I've had of 2022. I should note that I ordered the last hoptart available in the store and I came in at 9am. The strawberry hoptarts were sold out before I even came in. I love that they use fruit in season. The peach was so fresh and tasted great with the pastry. Vegan Peach Frangipane Galette: I got this for my boyfriend's mom and she couldn't stop raving about how tasty it was. She had the same experience with how fresh the fruit tasted. She adored the galette's crust too. Blueberry Buckle: Your basic blueberry muffin's hotter cousin, the blueberry buckle. This breakfast cake slice was meant to be a small bite for me to save for later, but I inhaled it. It's a generous slice. Fresh, light, tasty, and fluffy! The crumble crunch on top was my favorite part. Chocolate Peanut Butter Cake: Cake is always a good idea. If you haven't already, check out their cake designs, they're beautiful! My boyfriend is a huge sucker for anything peanut butter and chocolate flavored (I mean aren't a lot of people). We loved the rich flavor of the chocolate cake. The frosting was unique. It felt very light and creamy. I appreciated that it wasn't too sweet. I used to work for a bakery and I can tell you they use really great ingredients here. All of the treats I got were fresh and tasty. The space offers a lot of nice seating. They also offer cafe drinks. Whether you're looking to sit in with a good book and get a tasty pastry, take-out a bunch of hoptarts to the office, or order a custom cake for a special occasion, every choice is a good choice at Fat Rabbit!

    Prosecco cake with grapefruit curd
    Wolf P.

I stumbled in here after a bday cake I purchased from another business had been destroyed. I needed a replacement and this place did not disappoint. They had several whole cake options with interesting flavor combinations you can't find at other bakeries. I chose a beautiful Prosecco cake, with a grapefruit curd and vanilla bean icing. It was light, not too sweet and absolutely delicious. This was suggested by the staff member and I'm so glad I took his advice. He was so patient and helpful. They saved the day and as it turned out, the replacement cake was even better than my initial purchase. The other pastry options looked amazing so I'll definitely be back to try more.

The man at the window was great in providing recommendations. I ordered the steak and cheese as well as the Banoffee. The preparation is already done and the man with assistant moved quickly to complete my order. I enjoyed my treats at their outdoor table and also enjoyed conversation with locals. I started with the steak & cheese which was loaded with meat and cheese. DELICIOUS! Then onto the Banoffee which smelled heavenly of cocoa. Another home run! I love bananas and if you do too this will be enjoyable. So glad I found them open on my visit. There hours are very good, but I have missed them in the Summer before on vacation.
