A coworker brought some croissants into work. They were huge, super tasty and flaky! I haven't had a plain croissant in a while, but this was definitely one of the best I've had. Located in a charming neighborhood, I was fortunate to arrive early and find street parking. Selection is rather limited and the cashier wasn't very familiar with ingredients. I was the first customer at 7am on the dime. I couldn't wait to try the croissant cinnamon roll that I've heard so much about. I ordered two. One definitely did not survive the car ride to work. We went to Up All Night for breakfast. Since the shop has no real seating for dining in, we had to take our baked goods to go. We tried the orange morning bun, the pineapple croissant, and the cheddar scone. The scone was the best of the three, with the morning bun coming in second. I do not recommend the pineapple-- too sickly sweet. Service was fine and I don't have a good gauge on Richmond prices to comment on value. Loved stopping in here! Cute shop and lovely staff. Fair prices plus a great selection at 10:30 on a Sunday. We got the ham and cheese croissant, a chocolate croissant, a mushroom tart (great savory item), the challah (just ok), and the cinnamon rolls. The box of 6 cinnamon rolls is perfect - they're so good heated up for a few seconds! If you have guests, these rolls will really impress them. My only complaint was that the ham and cheese croissant didn't have much ham. But I did compare it to another local ham and cheese croissant and it was a similar amount of ham. I was really excited to try out Up All Night Bakery, as the previous attempt didn't go as planned due to a large event being held in the area. They offer a daily menu of croissants, breads, and other sweets/pastries; we stopped by earlier in the morning, and picked up: +a VA Ham & Swiss croissant +a Spinach & Feta croissant +an Everything croissant +a Morning bun - comes in cinnamon or orange; we opted for the latter Unfortunately, not sure if the bakery was really 'up all night', but it seems as if the offerings were made at least 1-2+ days ago... the Spinach & Feta and the Everything croissants were dried out and chewy, not the usual buttery flaky texture you'd usually expect. The Ham & Swiss one was better, as it was more soft; I'm thinking it's either due to the shape of the croissants or not baking it properly. I wished we had a tastier experience, as others have had, but with the higher price point and the disappointing quality that we've received, we most likely wouldn't return. Small space so a line would make it tough but prompt assistance and straight to the point. There is a window to view the delicacies. My suggestion is to run to grab a Boston creme croissant. Yes it was amazing! There are no shareable pictures for it. I can share the braid that was creamy and fruity. It was so good but the kids were iffy on the fruit. Located in Bellevue, the walk-up shop offers a delectable rotating offering of croissants, cinnamon buns, savory/sweet loaves/croissants, and amazingly soft and gooey cookies, among other items. Prices are reasonable for the quality, and it has quickly become my go-to when I'm feeling a dessert splurge. I especially adore their cookies out of everything I've tried. Specifically: Orange creamsicle (which seems to have been a summer special), chocolate chip, pumpkin chocolate chip, and apple butter. I've had a couple of their sweet croissants, the lemon and the triple chocolate, and they were both tasty as well. Keep an eye on their socials for the daily menu. They post it bright and early! I decided to try this place after reading about them in Richmond Magazine. I get their weekly e-newsletter, just about food, because I'm all about the food. Anyway, after leaving the RVA Big Market with my healthy choices, I decided it was time for a little indulgence. I went in looking for scones, but they didn't have any this morning. I ended up buying a chocolate croissant and I think it's called an orange sunshine roll. Maybe I have the name wrong on the orange roll, but that's what I've eaten so far and that's what I wanna talk about. You know those canned orange sweet rolls you can get in the refrigerator section at the grocery store? Well, this is what they dream to be. This roll is them on steroids. This roll is their Queen and they are merely the peasants. Flaky, buttery, full of orange flavor. Surprisingly not too sweet. The roll has that shattering flaky texture of a croissant, with the chew of a good cinnamon roll (no cinnamon, just using that as an example). Yes, it's a pricey place. I don't mind paying for quality. Service was very friendly. It's a grab and go place because there is no seating. I am looking forward to going back and trying their baguettes and maybe next time they'll have scones. read more

The Lakeside location is now closed to customers but the Bellevue location merged the products from both locations. All their baked goods are excellent and made fresh daily. They rearranged the store by removing the small tables and extending the counter which makes it easier to order. There's a wood fire oven and they make great pizzas weekly. read more

Although I don't seem to see many comments by others on Yelp, this bakery makes a great scone base. They offer rotating and seasonally flavored scones, and all we've tried have been very good! Really nice crumb and texture that are among some of the best I've had in the Richmond area. Baguettes, available daily, are quite good too. Would like to see some different breads, such as Ciabatta of Italian Scali. I would love for the bake shop to make a maple pecan scone and possibly cinnamon raisin bread available. Those are traditional breakfast flavors to me and no need to limit those combos to only during Fall either! Their croissants are very good as well, especially the chocolate. Cookies are generally a little soft for my liking. Wish them continued success. P.S. to those reviewing upset that the bakery was not open "all night," I believe its namesake may be associated with the process. Bread bakers often proof (cold) their doughs overnight in the refrigerator. And they arrive in the wee A.M. hours to start baking their products. read more

My personal favorite is this ham and cheese croissants. They wrap the butter dough around salty cheese and ham. So light and fluffy. If I can endure the drive home without devouring them, then I pop them in the oven for 45 seconds, and OMG! It's decadent. Do yourself the favor, stop by and get two of anything. ***A strong 4.5 Our newest neighborhood spot. My wife put on her sneakers and made the short walk over to the bakery to grab us some breakfast to have with coffee at home. She's had her finger on their pulse for a bit now and we were finally in town for a weekend to try. She mentioned upon arrival, promptly at 8am, that there were two people at the window and moments later 3 or 4 folks behind her. The owner of the bakery took my wife's order and was very friendly and welcoming. He even noticed she was wearing a sweatshirt bearing the name of a small and obscure college from Lancaster, Pennsylvania, an area where he's from. Anyhow, in walked my wife with an assortment of pastries that we warmed up briefly in the oven, split and shared with Blanchards 'Midnight Oil' coffee. Their pastries are very good , similar to sub rose bakery stuff, the location is a bit small only to go, there no place to seat, parking is on the street but the product is worsty to drive and take home to eat. I drooled for months over this bakery's cookies and pastry before taking the plunge and finally visiting. The baker/owner previously worked at my favorite pizza shop in another city and I was excited to learn we've both relocated. Little did I know a humble crouton would steal the show during my first visit when we arrived to find just about everything sold out before closing. (Lesson learned- arrive early!) These are the croutons dreams are made of and never made it past four greedy vehicle passengers to land onto a soup or salad. Wow!
