First time here and was not disappointed. We were indecisive looking at the menu but our server Melissa was great! We asked about the dishes thinking of sharing something then with her suggestions and recommendations were so happy with our choices! Fish and chips so yummy! Pulled pork was amazing!! Visiting Moab for amazing views and long hikes in January, The Broken Oar was a great way to end a day. The house salad is generous, fresh, and tasty. The honey siracha lime salmon is good but a bit too heavy in the sweet for my taste and I could discern no hint of siracha however, the salmon was well cooked. The berry cake (can't remember its exact name) was okay. There was an infusion of something sweet through the cake batter that was a little off and artificial tasting - an extract maybe - It would have been better with just the natural flavors of the included, baked-in, berries. The staff was very friendly, efficient, and attentive. The log cabin restaurant is cozy and pleasant. Were the food a little better this would have been a perfect dinner. read more

The team that works here are very personable. We arrived about 5:15pm and it was not busy so we were seated right away. The server took our drink order right away but was delayed for some reason. We both had the sweetened raspberry iced tea. It was WAY too sweet. She offered to make new ones but I asked her to just bring us a cup of unsweetened tea and we would dilute the ones we had. I ordered the Buffalo chicken sandwich with onion rings and it was good. I really like how soft the bun was - made it easier to eat. The Buffalo sauce on the chicken was spiced but a tolerable level of heat. My husband had the fish and chips but got onion rings instead of fries. He liked his food as well. The restaurant has a rustic feel - made of wood and gives a homey feel while you eat. While we ate the place filled up so it's a popular place - glad we arrived early. read more

I was in Moab for 4 nights and had fantastic dinners at the Broken Oar on 3 of those nights. Outstanding service from Shay, Mel and Vinny, and delicious food every time. It's a fun atmosphere and very family friendly. The Beast Burger is awesome, and I was introduced to barramundi for the first time, so I had to come back and have it again. I live over 1,300 miles away in Illinois, but if I can get back to Moab again, I'll be dining at the Broken Oar. read more

Food 5/5 Ambiance /View 4/5 Service 2/5 We had gone on a desert ATV-tour with the 'Legend of Moab' Jeff T and he had recommended the Broken Oar having the best Ribeye in town. The prices were a bit steep, but with a personal referral card with a discount we decided to take him up on it. As we could have gone anywhere for a steak but was sweetened to come here due to the discount. When we arrived we had gone with the patio as the inside seemed quite full and it was a beautiful day. The host and server at the front had recognized it was her turn to be sat/get a table and she personally walked us to our table and let us know she'd be right back.... Well then we waited for a good 10-15 minutes before she returned to finally greet us and ask for our drinks. We went ahead and put in our order as well since we had plenty of time to consider, I got the special salmon of the month and a local draft beer and she got the Ribeye. Our server left for some time and when she came back she had a beer for the table next to us she also took an order for but had forgotten mine. A different server brought us our food. The food was indeed phenomenal and Jeff's word was held up by the quality of the eats. We had only seen her 4 times for the full visit, being sat, ordering, check, and receipt. She never returned to ask how the food was or if we needed anything (because we were going to get an extra side and refills but hey.. they were busy) when we caught her to ask for a side of truffle fries to go, a to-go coke, and the check, she told us the truffle fries (even though still online) had actually been discontinued 3 months prior, there are NO to-go drinks, and then brought the check. We only asked for these all in a series because we only saw her as we were near finishing our meals. Since she told us no to-go drinks were available and no fries anymore, we just asked for the check. Roughly $5 for a soda and having to ask for a refill after being told no to-go drinks is wild. She should have at least asked if we'd like another while there since she couldn't accommodate our original request. I trust servers to get the tab right so I quickly glanced it over while she stood over me and gave her my card. It was only when she returned already running my card I noticed she did not apply the discount. It was only the difference of a few bucks and I already didn't feel taken care of so I figured just cut my losses. When she returned with the receipt she was still bold enough to ask us to leave a review even though I don't think our discussions during our entire stay surpassed 50 words. I'd highly recommend the restaurant, but if you get Melissa, I'd probably be proactive and ask for a different server to save yourself on the experience. read more
