It was okay, not what I was hoping for as for food quality. Staff were friendly but I was left wanting better atmosphere and food.

The buffalo burger was excellent and the brisket was some of the best I have had. Our waitress, Shay, made sure we had a great time. The sweet potato fries were delectable, sprinkled with lemon zest and a light caramel sauce. What a combo. We also ordered pickle fries, which were well seasoned and came with a tasty orange sauce of some kind - absolutely delicious. Will be coming back next time we're in Moab. read more

The restaurant was busy but we were quickly greeted and put on the wait list and got to play some cornhole while we waited! I got the honey sriracha lime salmon with mashed potatoes and asparagus and my boyfriend got the outlaw pork chop and both were DELICIOUS!!!!! For dessert we had the New York style cheesecake which was hands down the best cheesecake I've ever had!! The Broken Oar is a decent place to go have dinner if you find yourself in Moab. We started our dinner with getting a pitcher of their craft IPA which had a great taste and was priced just right. Then we got an order of the wings for the appetizer (you can see them in the burger photo). The wings were not good and I wouldn't recommend them. They weren't crispy and weren't very flavorful. The burgers were well made and very tasty. I got the desolation canyon burger which had a nice "chipotle" swing to it. My dad got the oar burger and liked the pastrami and burger combination. The salad was tasty and was well made. Overall, I would recommend the Broken Oar but it is pretty pricey. Come here if you want a solid burger and beer and good service. read more

They claim that they are home of the sweet potato fries, so I surely have to check out the place. My buddy and I did two national parks that day before coming to this restaurant. We actually came by the place almost an hour prior to them opening, and figured well we need to go walk around the main street area to do some souvenir shopping. We came back shortly after they opened, and there was a line already. Must be popular of a restaurant woo hoo! Hiking two national parks means two draft beers for me. I chose their Juicy IPA, which was so refreshing and crisp. I went with their popular Broken Oar Burger (beef patty, pastrami, applewood bacon, Swiss cheese) Ohh Yeaaah! They don't skimp on the meat here. I ordered my burger medium well, and it came out exactly that. This burger's three types of meat within makes it a complex taste profile. Crispy bacon gives that nice salty flavor, and Swiss cheese was savory. Coming in hot/crispy on the side, the sweet potato fries with its original seasoning, cinnamon sugar, salt, caramel, and lemon zest got me thinking that they know how to properly make them taste fantastic. Soggy fries is a big No-No for me, but these Broken Oar sweet potato fries certainly deliver on the taste. I splurged on the dessert here at the Broken Oar. Chocolate chip cookies with vanilla ice cream and chocolate/caramel drizzle... My goodness. The cookies were fresh out of the oven and warm to the touch. This item is sinsational! Yummy to a point where I was really thinking ordering another one. This one was recommended by the server, and by the way the server was amazing! Attentive with a sense of humor, she made sure we were taken care of. This place is popular amongst locals and tourists in the small town of Moab. If you are in the area, be sure to make it out here. We came back twice to The Broken Oar on our trip to Moab. The food was great and well priced. Our waitress Shay was very knowledgeable and attentive. My husband was quite pleased with his steak, cooked to perfection, and I loved my French Dip on the first night and especially loved the Chicken Marsala on our second night. The sauce was perfect and smothered with mushrooms. The chicken was really tender and the whole meal was well balanced with broccoli and mashed potatoes. Seems like every place in Moab is busy now, and this was no exception. We were there fairly early on a Saturday night and the place was packed. Parking is a little tough when it's busy like that, and we had about a 30 minute wait. The food was good - I had a bison burger, and it was very tasty, though their burgers don't come with any kind of condiments . You'll have to ask for your catsup and mustard. Most of our party had burgers, but one had the fresh trout, which she said was great. The atmosphere there was nice, particularly after the rush was over and it got a little quieter. This is the type of restaurant you choose because you want to please everybody but you end up pleasing nobody. Ended up being the worst meal we all had in Moab. I got the Caesar salad which was okay, I guess. Way too much dressing, packaged croutons, and fake parm shreds. It was big and I added chicken so that part was fine. Husband had a burger which was dry and salty. Fries were over salted. Teen son got fish and chips and maybe he accidentally ordered from the kid's menu because the portion was tiny. We had to get him a second dinner after eating here. Restaurant was loud, loud, loud and we were blasted by fans the whole time. Service was slow. I am posting this review mostly because I don't understand how it could be rated so highly.
