Swilled Dog was a GREAT, impromptu decision…read more The first, quick words that come to mind when I think about our experience at Swilled Dog are spacious, cute, welcoming, very affordable, very clean, and dog friendly. We started our experience off with whiskey tasting which was $5 to taste four different whiskies. Then we went to the cider section, which had the option for four flights for $9 or eight flights for $18, which is a steal, if you ask me. I would definitely recommend this place, if ever you are in the area.

Then got some snack boards (charcuterie, hummus) and got cider tasting flights, which were all really good. Pineapple was my favorite, followed by caramel apple, apple pie, and then walk the dog (it was more like a beer, not sweet, and I'm not a beer person). Everyone was really friendly. They had tables with game boards, a pool table, shuffle board, and other fun things in the decent sized space. Also a gift shop with some cool clothes and souvenirs. My husband left his phone in the couch there somehow and we didn't realize it until Sunday morning... they were supposed to be closed until the next Friday. We were able to get a hold of the staff and are so grateful to them for getting it and mailing back to us. We will be back in the area again and would definitely come back here. Highly recommend!

The couple ran the entire place themselves and were very kind, talking to us as they walked by. We asked for a wine recommendation and the owner surprised us and it was one of the best bottles we've had in a long time. We started with a garlic butter mushroom dish which was incredible. I got the braised short ribs (one of their most popular dish) and she got the beef lasagna. Both were perfect and very flavorful. We finished up with the Spanish Flan. All of the food was delicious, great portions, and the prices for the food and bottles of wine were beyond reasonable. We will absolutely come back if we're ever in the area again!

We were welcomed so graciously by the couple that ran this place and the whole experience felt very intimate. We had great conversation with them while we had our meal. I tried the frozen sangria which tasted great and the braised short ribs were so tender and delicious. I felt like everything I had was perfectly proportioned and delicious. The flan was also an amazing way to end our dinner. One thing to note is that they go by reservation only so make sure to book in advance. If you ever plan to go to the Getaway Shenandoah location near here I HIGHLY recommend coming here!!

Simply put, the bodega breakfast sandwich might be the best breakfast sandwich I've ever eaten. I took it to eat on the road and was startled about how delicious it was. The freshly baked (you can tell) brioche bun with everything bagel seasoning on top added a great salty taste to go along with the tasty stuff inside. I've traveled all over the country for work for 20+ years, and like I said, this might be the best breakfast sandwich I've ever had! To top it off, the staff was super nice.

I think it was because they enjoyed working there. Or, at least it give them a chance to eat some really tasty food. I had their Cubano Tartine. That's kind of like an omelet with the ingredients of a Cubano sandwich, except for the roll, mixed in. (And yes, I get that the cooking process is a bit different.) ' Anyway, this Cubano Tartine shows up on a plate in front of me. I dig in and keep digging. The ingredients, ham, cheese, pickles, etc, were plentiful and delicious. They were sitting on an ample slice of their sourdough bread. That was the first issue. It was IMPOSSIBLE to cut. I guess I could have asked for a steak knife or maybe a power tool. But, there was so much other stuff that I was able to have a very filling meal without it. The other issue was that the lightly dressed side salad was doused in dressing. Again, didn't complain because, for me, it wasn't a problem during this visit. Issues aside, if I come back to Hagerstown, I'll look for an excuse to come back.
